1. Partition doors
Monolithic concrete walls between the kitchen and the dining room, the living room and the office, the square footage of the room and the free space are significantly reduced. In such cases, we suggest using interior glass sliding partitions that combine different living areas into one functional room.

2. Door in the form of a window
Tall transparent door designs allow sunlight beautifully fill a room, illuminating it from different angles. The glass sheet can be supplemented with thick curtains (roller blinds, blinds or fabric). Those products whose length does not reach the ceiling by an average of thirty centimeters are considered common. However, there are interior doors whose length reaches three and a half meters. Such models are called high.

Peculiarities

Interior doors to the ceiling, or Italian, are rightfully considered a highlight modern design interior If you need to give the room a spacious effect, you should give preference to doors up to the ceiling. Tall interior doors are an original interior detail that cannot fail to attract attention.

Design

Unusual appearance doors to the ceiling suggests her special design. They are mounted using special hidden loops that cannot be seen when the product is in the closed position. Installation of a high door is carried out without the use of platbands. The ceiling-length structure is installed in a box made of aluminum.

A high interior door can have both visible and hidden box, so the buyer has the opportunity to choose the most suitable option for your home. The effect of a door built into the wall is created by painting the frame in a single color scheme with a wall.

For residential premises, tall sliding products are most often used. They not only look stylish, but are also quite compact. To carry out installation of high sliding design, it is necessary to make a special niche in the ceiling for its guides.

Varieties

Tall products are sold in a wide variety of variations, including:

  • glazed (window effect);
  • veneered;
  • deaf;
  • made from solid wood.

The most expensive are high doors made from solid wood. The raw materials used to make the structure can be thoroughly dried over a period of several years. A model made from solid wood is affordable for few. However, this is not a reason to deny yourself innovative products, because many companies are ready to offer consumers doors made from laminated wood. The designs have their undeniable advantages, among which are:

  • resistance to fluctuations in indoor humidity;
  • resistance to deformation;
  • maintaining the integrity of the product throughout its entire service life.

Glazed high doors look especially stylish and elegant. They are widely used in the interior of not only residential premises, but also in offices, hotels, restaurants and other places that are considered public. However, glass models that are installed in houses and apartments are subject to special requirements. Structures must be as durable and environmentally friendly as possible. The photo shows the most attractive models of high glass doors.

Veneered structures are made from solid pine, which is soft and flexible. To give the product strength, manufacturers cover it with oak veneer and a thick layer of varnish. Calvados, walnut and makore veneers can also be used.

Blind high doors are smooth and paneled. The first ones are made from synthetic materials allowing you to achieve a huge variety of colors and textures. The finish can imitate different types of wood and stone. Smooth canvas is often used for minimalist interiors. Paneled doors are rightfully considered the most attractive. Their popular models are shown in the photo.

Advantages and disadvantages

If we evaluate the number of positive reviews addressed to high doors, then we can undoubtedly talk about their advantages. Among these are:

  • visual increase in the area and height of the room;
  • wide selection of styles and shades;
  • resistance to deformation;
  • original appearance;
  • high quality of raw materials used for the manufacture of door structures.

The only drawback of ceiling-mounted models is their high cost. However, the high cost is justified by durability and magnificent appearance. The video shows examples of residential interiors in which just such doors were installed.

When purchasing high doors, you must give preference to manufacturers with an impeccable reputation. In this case, the buyer will be confident in the quality of the product.

Known Issue – small apartments. Good decision– sliding doors – not always suitable: sometimes there is so little space that all the walls are filled with furniture and there is nowhere to move the panel. But if the partition is not load-bearing and can be partially dismantled, then there is still an option: sliding doors that slide into the wall.

Structurally, built-in interior doors are no different from compartment doors; they are based on the same components: a door leaf (one or two), guide rails, carriages with rollers and fittings. If desired, an electric drive. The only difference is that when opened, the canvas is hidden from view. In the converted section of the wall there is a cassette into which the door slides on rollers.

The canvas itself can be anything: wood, glass, plastic. You can choose an option that will be in perfect harmony with the rest of the doors and the interior as a whole. The roller mechanism is also no different from the standard one.

The difference is in the fittings: locks and handles should not interfere with the movement of the canvas into the wall. You need to decide on handles and locks in advance. If the sliding door goes completely into the wall, you will need a lock with a button to close it.

The second difference is that sliding doors that slide into the wall require more energy-intensive installation than compartment doors. It is necessary to dismantle part of the wall, fix the cassette, cover the structure with gypsum board and complete the repair with finishing. There will be a lot construction waste, you need to prepare for this in advance.

It is better to buy built-in doors into the wall complete with a cassette. Buying an additional cassette later and installing it separately will be too expensive and energy-intensive. The pencil case door kit already includes everything you need - the door leaf, mechanism, fittings and cassette.

Attention: the pencil cases are different for partitions made of brick and plasterboard. This needs to be clarified when purchasing.

Installation sequence

1. Check the verticality of the walls and carefully calculate the opening (two widths of the canvas).

2. Dismantle the required area, if possible without unnecessary destruction.

3. Process the opening, seal the cracks.

4. Install the pencil case and secure it with mortgages. The upper mortgages will serve to securely fix the canvas, preventing movement of the structure.

5. Sew up the cassette with plasterboard: the top edge is placed along the enclosing box.

6. Install built-in doors and fittings.

7. Produce finishing walls.

8. Install platbands.

Sliding doors moving into the wall - a good option save space occupied an ordinary door, but they take away 10 centimeters of the thickness of the room due to the cassette. That's why perfect option To install them, install built-in doors instead of self-supporting walls.

– this diagnosis sounds like a sentence. They also say that there are no doors higher than 2-2.20. We are used to living low, without the flight of our souls :). Bathtubs without windows, ceilings 2.50, toilets 60 cm wide... etc. These habits are ingrained and difficult to break.

I’m trying to the best of my modest ability to fight this... It takes a long time to convince each new customer to abandon stereotypes and take a fresh look at their home. So, for example, make doorways at least 2.40 (the canvas in this case is 2.30), or even better, cut the wall completely to the ceiling, leaving a partition for installing decorative molding... I explain that such doors will noticeably change the appearance of the apartment: they will increase the height of the ceilings, add volume to the room, will make the space more mobile...

And now, a small digest of materials about our projects in which this interesting technique was used.

How to order such a miracle?

Doors are always made to order, they cost significantly more than standard ones, but the effect from them will be the most noticeable. If at the same time you place the curtain rods at the same maximum height above the windows, add a ceiling molding that will “go to the ceiling”, no one without a tape measure will ever determine the true heights of the room...

Doors, as well as matching decorative wall panels, are manufactured by our carpenters according to the sketches of interior designers. You can place an order by contacting our studio.
