Chainsaw huter bs 52 carburetor adjustment. Adjusting the chainsaw carburetor

Owners summer cottage Often you have to perform work that requires a tool such as a chainsaw. However, over time, even it begins to cope with its functions worse and at some point it may simply stall. This may happen due to various reasons, including the use of low-quality fuel or the presence of problems in the engine. This question, of course, is important, but for us the greatest interest is the carburetor, which is important element engine. In order for the engine to operate normally for as long as possible, you need to know at what points the chainsaw carburetor should be adjusted and how this operation should be carried out.

Chainsaw carburetor design

Even before you start adjusting the carburetor, it will be useful to familiarize yourself with the structure and operating principle of this tool. This information will help prevent many problems later.

The design of the carburetor can be distinguished a number of required elements, however, some modifications of this tool may contain additional ones. Therefore, you need to look at the chainsaw model. These elements are:

The carburetor itself works like this: The air channel provides a fast flow of air, which can have different speeds depending on the position of the damper. The float level allows you to adjust the degree of opening of the fuel supply channel, and it itself depends on the position of the aforementioned air damper. When air enters the diffuser, it begins to lift the incoming fuel along with it and atomizes it. At this stage, a mixture is formed, which goes into the cylinder, bypassing the intake manifold.

As a rule, the pressure level in the float chamber does not differ from atmospheric pressure. A different picture is observed in the air channel, since a rarefied pressure is maintained there. It is the difference in fuel pressure that ensures its flow through suction through the nozzle, from where it goes into the air channel. It is very important that with increasing degree of opening of the air damper the amount of air also increases, which, accordingly, allows more fuel to flow. In turn, it is the volume of fuel that affects the speed at which the engine will operate.

In what cases is adjustment necessary?

Most often, owners of Husqvarn chainsaws and other manufacturers do not have to adjust the carburetor very often. To understand that it is time to perform this operation, you must look for the following signs:

  • After starting the engine, it stalls quite quickly or cannot be started at all. Most often this is associated with the use of a lean fuel mixture;
  • During operation of the tool, fuel is consumed in increased quantities. More active formation of exhaust gases may also be observed. As a rule, this happens when a supersaturated mixture is used.

It should be noted that adjustment failure is quite rare, however it can occur in the following situations:

  • In case of failure of fastening of the adjusting screws. This may be due to vibration or a broken protective cap. In principle, the probability of this is quite low if no one touched them.
  • Serious wear of the engine, primarily the piston. In this case, the factory settings will be of little use. A temporary solution in this situation can be adjusting the chainsaw carburetor. However, you should not expect that this will solve the problem forever. After performing this operation, you need to be prepared for the fact that you will soon need to perform engine repairs.
  • Also, the need for adjustment may be due to a blockage in the carburetor. This can be caused by using best quality gasoline, air filter failure or scale formation. In such cases, adjustment alone is not enough. It is necessary to disassemble the carburetor and remove dirt from it.

The process of adjusting the carburetor of the Partner chainsaw, as well as other manufacturers, is carried out by performing manipulations with three adjustment screws. However, in some models only one screw is provided for this case. For a standard tool, you can see screws on the carburetor body, which correspond to the following designations:

  • L – this screw is necessary to change low engine speeds;
  • H – this screw allows you to change high speeds;
  • T – this screw is used to adjust the idle speed.

Typically, to adjust the carburetor of chainsaws from Goodluck and other manufacturers, two screws are used - L and H, which allow you to create a fuel mixture of the required quality. If a lean mixture is required, the screws must be rotated clockwise, as a result the number of revolutions will increase. In other words, the purpose of the operation is to set high speeds. If you turn the screws counterclockwise, this will allow you to achieve a richer mixture. Accordingly, such an operation allows you to set a low engine speed.

Regulation rules

Regardless of which manufacturer’s tool you are dealing with, adjusting the carburetor requires fulfilling some requirements:

In the process of adjusting the carburetor, there is a risk of harm to your health. Therefore, in order to minimize such unpleasant consequences, you need to make sure that the chain is directed in the opposite direction. In turn, the saw must be placed on a flat surface and make sure that the cutting part does not come into contact with any objects.

The process of fine adjustment of the screws requires compliance with a certain order: L – H – T. Screw L is used to select the maximum number of engine revolutions. This is done by turning the screw clockwise or in the opposite direction until the maximum is reached.

Considering that everything is done by “feel”, a tachometer or a clear ear for music will not hurt here. It is very important that you clearly understand what sound the maximum engine speed makes. Then you can stop in time. First of all, you need to be careful with the H regulator, otherwise it may result in engine failure. And to repair it, you will have to spend a large amount of money. For this reason, it is advisable that such work be carried out by a qualified specialist.

If you were able to get hold of a tachometer and you know what the maximum speed limit of your engine is, then you can try to adjust the carburetor yourself. The process itself involves performing the following actions:

Finally, we need to perform the operation for setting idle speed. First you need to ensure that the engine operates evenly in any position until it starts to move. The screw intended for adjustment must be turned counterclockwise until the chain stops. If you are unable to do this, you should entrust this work to a specialist, since using a chainsaw with a broken adjustment is dangerous to your health.

Conclusion

A tool such as a chainsaw is noticeable simplifies many operations. However, at some point it can fail. One of the reasons for this may be a failure of carburetor adjustment. But any owner can solve this problem on his own. In principle, adjusting a chainsaw with your own hands is quite simple procedure, since it requires manipulation of three adjustment screws. However, experience will not be superfluous here, so it is recommended not to conduct experiments with the working tool, but to invite a specialist.

Chainsaw "Carver": description, reviews and photos

If you often work outside the city or in the garden, and also perform construction works then you can't do without chainsaws, the power of which must be selected depending on the tasks assigned to the tool. Adjustment carburetor

The Carver chain saw, the price of which was mentioned above, has a carburetor. This requires an adjustment that can be done independently. Screws H and L are necessary to adjust the gasoline to air ratio. Richening the mixture can be achieved by unscrewing the screws, the RPM will then drop, and by twisting the mixture will be depleted and a backlash should be expected.

Using screw S, you can adjust the idle speed. For ease of adjustment, the number of available carburetor screws is reduced. "Carver" was originally configured at the factory, but similar work must be performed even with the engine turned off. Final adjustment performed on a hot engine. After reading the instruction manual, you will be able to know exactly what the exact rotation angles are.

The speed adjustment screws should be turned slowly clockwise until they are in their final position. The screws are then turned back two turns, but there are other settings. When adjusted chain Saw“Carver”, you can find the maximum possible idle speed, for this screw L must be turned in different directions.

A chainsaw is a necessary household tool, without which it is impossible to quickly and efficiently carry out some household work. Like anyone complex mechanism, a chainsaw requires high-quality and timely Maintenance and settings. Most often, a carburetor adjustment is necessary for good performance, but there are also some operating rules that should be followed.

To understand how to properly configure a chainsaw, you need to know the nuances of the design of its main components, in particular the carburetor.

1. It works on the same principle as engines internal combustion– the mixture is burned in the cylinder, causing a small explosion. The pressure from the explosion pushes the piston, which in turn rotates the crankshaft. The movement turns into a moment of rotation, it moves the chain through the sprocket. Motor at optimal performance consumes up to 10 mg of fuel in each cycle. The mixture for the engine is prepared in the carburetor.

2. The purpose of the carburetor is to prepare a mixture of fuel and air in the required ratio. If the device prepares it with irregularities in proportions, then the functioning of the engine itself is disrupted. An incorrect mixture is called lean or oversaturated. In a lean mixture, the amount of oxygen relative to fuel is increased, in a supersaturated mixture, the opposite is true. In both cases, malfunctions in the mechanism begin that require elimination.

3. The basic design and operating principle of the carburetor have a common base, but differ depending on the chainsaw model. For example, if you need to set up a Chinese chainsaw, you should familiarize yourself with its service book and the structure of the device. In general, the operation of the carburetor and its main elements are as follows:

  • the base is a tube, similar in functional properties to an aerodynamic one. Air flow enters through this element. It is crossed by an air damper, which blocks the cavity or opens it, thereby increasing or decreasing the amount of incoming air;
  • diffuser at the base - increases the speed of air passage in the hole designated for fuel flow;
  • atomizer - through it the fuel enters the air flow. Fuel passes into the atomizer through a nozzle from the float chamber;
  • float chamber - a container for holding the mixture at a stable level.

General principle of carburetor operation:

  1. A fast flow of air flows through the channel, the damper regulates the speed of this flow.
  2. Opening the channel regulates the position of the float.
  3. An air flow passes through the diffuser, mixing with the incoming fuel and atomizing it.
  4. The resulting mixture enters the cylinder through the intake manifold.

The pressure indicator in the float chamber is close to atmospheric pressure; in the air channel this indicator is rarefied. The difference in performance ensures the suction of fuel through the nozzle into the air channel. A larger opening of the air damper leads to a larger volume of air, which means more fuel. An increase in incoming fuel leads to an increase in engine speed. The operating principle of a simple carburetor is described. Having mastered the basics of its structure, it is easier to understand and determine the purpose of the remaining elements.

Signs that your carburetor needs adjustment

The need to adjust a chainsaw carburetor does not arise often. Misadjustment is determined by the following criteria:

  1. Unstable operation of the engine: it starts to start with difficulty and immediately stalls, does not start at all. The primary reason is the use of a low octane fuel mixture.
  2. Excessive consumption of fuel, abnormal consumption. Spent exhaust emissions are released above the norm. Fuel is not completely consumed. The reason is the use of a supersaturated mixture.
  3. Loss of fastening of the adjusting screws due to vibrations or defects in the coating of the protective cap. A unique, rare failure. The cause of the failure is touching the screws, trying to unscrew or adjust the unit.
  4. Significant piston wear. Adjustment will only delay the repair temporarily. Required major renovation engine.
  5. Carburetor clogged. The reason is the use of low-quality fuel, a malfunction of the air filter, or the ingress of scale. Adjustment should be carried out simultaneously with flushing.

How to set up a chainsaw Partner

To work you will need a screwdriver.

Carburetor adjustment is carried out independently if you have a tachometer and know how to work with it. Otherwise independent work is pointless, setting up a chainsaw should be entrusted to professional mechanics.

The chainsaw carburetor is adjusted using only one screw, the other two are hidden from the consumer by the manufacturer. Their designation on the body is as follows:

  • L – for setting low speed;
  • H – for setting high speeds;
  • T – screw visible to the user. Idle speed adjustment.

The manufacturing plant adjusts the functioning of the carburetor to the optimal mode, leaving the possibility of corrective adjustment of the unit in extreme situations. When using the device in the recommended ranges temperature regime and air composition, it is not worth adjusting.

To adjust the operation when using fuel that differs in quality from the standard, screws L and H are used. To lower the octane number of gasoline, the screws are turned from left to right. This will increase the number of revolutions. To increase the octane number, turn from right to left. Low speed is set.

Adjusting the carburetor of a chainsaw Partner or other manufacturers is carried out taking into account the following rules:

  1. Carrying out precision work only on a hot engine. Minimum work time- 10 minutes.
  2. The air filter must be unclogged and clean.
  3. The rotating chain is stopped using the adjusting screw until complete braking occurs. The screw is turned from right to left.
  4. Compliance with safety regulations. Direct the chain in the opposite direction from you. Place the saw on a flat surface. Do not touch the cutting part to objects.

Fine adjustment with screws takes place in the following sequence: L – H – T. Screw L is maximum amount revolutions by turning it from left to right or in the opposite direction until the maximum is reached. In this process, you will need a tachometer or a good ear for a master who can determine the maximum speed by sound. If you incorrectly determine the point with regulator H, the engine will break down. The cost of repairs will cost more than half of the total cost of the chainsaw.

When using a tachometer and absolute confidence in determining the maximum speed by the sound of the engine, the adjustment is completed. Regulator L determines the maximum or close to the maximum speed value. Using the same regulator, we return it from right to left by a quarter turn of the screw. We perform the same action with regulator H: turn it a quarter turn of the screw from right to left on a warm engine. We determine by sound - the motor is spinning at maximum, like a four-stroke mechanism. When the mixture is rich, a squeal appears, which is removed with a screw, and the average value of the sound of a running engine is selected.

Idle speed is adjusted. Screw T rotates counterclockwise until the chain stops. If you cannot adjust the idle speed yourself, you need to contact a specialist. Operating an unregulated chainsaw can result in personal injury.

With a properly adjusted carburetor:

  1. At idle the chain does not move.
  2. Fast engine acceleration.
  3. The sound of a running motor is similar to the operation of a four-stroke machine.

Common causes of chainsaw failure

Chainsaw breakdowns often occur due to violation of the rules for using the tool:

  • Not knowing the rules. Not following instructions exactly. Not read important recommendations for operating the tool.
  • Inaccurate instructions for the tool. This item is possible when purchasing a cheap non-factory assembled tool.
  • Untimely inspection of the chain and components. After performing a large amount of complex work, the tool must be inspected, parts are lubricated, the integrity of the chain is checked, and its operation at idle speed is checked.

  • Tool overload. It is necessary to adhere to the operating time regulations. Give the tool the “rest” recommended in the data sheet.
  • The use of a chainsaw is not for functionality. Operation for sawing or cutting materials not specified in the technical passport.
  • Refueling with low-quality fuel. Using old gasoline from your own supply, incorrectly or a long-prepared fuel mixture. The octane number decreases within a month by 10% - 15%. In mixtures with oil, additional oxidation of gasoline occurs and its transformation into fuel oil or its derivatives. Dirty gasoline is harmful to the piston system. The chainsaw is very sensitive to the quality of fuel and oil quality. The owner must monitor the composition of the mixture, use the recommended fuel and oil, and adhere to strictly established mixing proportions.

Proper lubrication of the guide bar

The procedure for lubrication of the tool bar and chain recommended in the technical data sheet is carried out with specialized oil of a certain brand and composition. A list of contraindications to the use of other types of oils is given in order to avoid damage to the oil pump. Practice shows a different picture. Most chainsaw operators use cheap regular oil for lubrication. This is allowed provided it is fresh and clean. Waste poured into the tank, even filtered, clogs the filters and the oil pump.

Basic rules for using oil:

  1. It is necessary to monitor the oil level in the tank.
  2. Do not start the engine with an empty tank.
  3. Fill with winter oil when working in cold weather.
  4. For winter, use a regular grade of oil diluted with kerosene in a ratio of 4:1.
  5. For subzero temperature set the feed to the maximum position.

Sharpening and using the saw chain

To reduce the load on moving elements and extend the working life of the chainsaw, the chain is sharpened. Avoid when sharpening mechanical methods. They lead to a 2-fold reduction in service life. It is recommended to use templates and files designed for chainsaws. Handling special templates is simple and does not require removing the chain from the bar.

Chainsaw filters

The chainsaw air filter carries a heavy cleaning load. After the next working cycle, it is recommended to remove, clean and rinse the nylon filter mesh. Use for washing soap solution without foam, rinse in running water and dry in a draft.

Wash the foam air filter in kerosene, squeeze out, and dry. Lubricate the edges, for example, with lithol-24. Wash the velvet filter mesh in a simple warm water without detergent. Replace filters in a timely manner, install a new absorber of the same type and size as the used one.

Chainsaw spark plugs

Replacement of spark plugs must be carried out after the period recommended in the technical data sheet. Use only original factory parts. Incorrect or untimely replacement of this unit often causes chainsaw breakdowns. In this situation, workshops refuse to perform warranty repairs.

Getting started with a new chainsaw

Use without adjustment for 15-20 refills. In the new tool, the manufacturer provides for the supply of fuel in an enriched form for operation at medium speeds. This eliminates loads exceeding the maximum and increases lubrication of the crankshaft, piston group and bearing.

  1. Run-in at idle speed and at maximum loads is not carried out on new tools.
  2. Do not operate the device at full throttle. Do not press with excessive force.
  3. Do not allow the tool to overheat.
  4. At the end of the recommended period, you should set up the chainsaw in a workshop.

Country construction and repairs are not complete without the use of a chainsaw, as is garden care. A tool malfunction can stop all work, which is why it is so important to be able to disassemble it yourself, find problems and fix them. With sufficient experience and dexterity, it is even possible to adjust the carburetor of a chainsaw - a complex procedure, or rather, a jewel. We suggest you take it apart today on how to carry out the adjustment procedures.

The diagram shows the interaction of fuel and air flow

Operating principle: a jet of air in the diffuser atomizes fuel, creating a mixture entering the cylinder. The greater the amount of incoming fuel, the higher the engine speed. Carburetors various models work according to the same scheme.

When is adjustment generally necessary?

Specifically, adjusting the carburetor of a chainsaw is required in rare cases; more often problems arise related to the supply of fuel or wear of parts. But sometimes “symptoms” indicate that it is necessary to adjust the mechanism. Here are some signs:

  • After the engine starts, it immediately stalls. Alternatively, it won't start at all. The reason lies in an excess of air and a shortage of fuel.
  • Increased fuel consumption, and as a result - a large number of exhaust gases. This occurs due to the reverse process - oversaturation of the mixture with fuel.

The reasons for the adjustment failure can also be mechanical:

  • Due to strong vibration, the protective cap is damaged, as a result of which all three bolts lose their installed fixation.
  • Due to wear on the piston part of the engine. In this case, adjusting the chainsaw carburetor will help only for a while; it is better to replace the worn part.
  • Due to blockage that occurs due to low-quality fuel, scale or filter damage. Carburetor required complete disassembly, flushing and adjustment.

If the chainsaw suddenly stops working, you need to disassemble it to find out the reasons.

Step-by-step disassembly instructions

We pull off the gasoline hose from the fitting on the left.

We also carefully remove the gasoline hose, which the arrow points to.

We finally disconnect the carburetor, it is ready for adjustment. Its mechanism is quite complex, therefore, if further disassembly of the carburetor is required, you should remove the elements very carefully - they are small, so they can get lost.

The carburetor consists of many small parts, which should be laid out in order when disassembling

Features of setup and adjustment

To learn how to adjust the carburetor on a chainsaw, you should learn to distinguish between three screws (some models have only one).

Screws L and H are similar only in appearance, in fact they are different

Each screw has its own letter designation:

  • “L” is used to adjust low speed;
  • “H” is necessary to adjust the upper speed;
  • “T” is needed to adjust the idle speed (models with one screw only have it).

The factory adjustment is optimal, and with the help of screws the engine operation is adjusted in special situations (work associated with different climatic conditions).

The diagram shows the outputs of the carburetor adjustment screws with the cover closed

The adjustment is made only with screws L and H. To increase the speed, turn them clockwise. To lower - counterclockwise. The sequence of use of screws is: L – H – T.

A carburetor is one of the components in the fuel supply system of an internal combustion engine. It is designed to form a mixture of fuel and air with regulation of its supply to the combustion chambers. The carburetor is practically no different in functional purpose from the automobile, in principle, fuel regulation.

To begin adjusting any device, you need to know its design, operating principle and its place in general scheme power unit.

Let us recall the operating principle of an internal combustion engine:

  1. A mixture of fuel and air is supplied to the cylinder.
  2. The spark plug ignites the fuel.
  3. The created pressure acts on the piston.
  4. The reciprocating stroke of the piston through the connecting rod and crankshaft is converted into rotational motion, which is transmitted further through a system of shafts and gears.

The responsible device responsible for the composition of the mixture and its quantity is the carburetor. At optimal ratio fuel and air, the engine runs stably. If the mixture is different, then malfunctions occur, fuel consumption increases, and power decreases.

Non-standard fuel mixture:

Carburetor design:

  • the central tube is intended for supplying air, forming the composition of the fuel mixture;
  • the tube consists of two cones connected to each other, that is, it has a narrowing - a diffuser, through which the air flow receives an additional kinetic impulse;
  • in the narrowing area there is a nozzle - a hole through which fuel is supplied;
  • the volume of air supply is regulated by an air damper located across the main pipe;
  • the fuel flow is regulated by the fuel needle located in the nozzle;
  • fuel is supplied through a nozzle from a chamber with a float, which ensures a stable level of fuel upon entering the air chamber.

The principle of operation of the carburetor

When a gas flow moves through a diffuser, it the speed increases, and a vacuum (low pressure) occurs. In the chamber with the float, the fuel is at atmospheric pressure. Due to the difference in pressure values, the fuel rushes into the air chamber, where it mixes with air.

The volume of the supplied fuel-air mixture is regulated by the location of the air damper. With a larger opening, more fuel flows in - the engine speed increases.

Signs of unstable carburetor operation:

  • increased fuel consumption;
  • increased exhaust, manifested in the appearance of black smoke;
  • unstable operation or engine failure immediately after starting - the fuel mixture has become lean;
  • the engine does not start;
  • there are interruptions in engine operation (another reason is carburetor clogging);
  • wear of the piston group - repair will be required, since carburetor adjustment is a temporary measure;
  • strong vibration appeared when the engine was running;
  • The carburetor settings have been misadjusted.

Carburetor adjustment

The carburetor is adjusted using three screws:

  • screw L is used to adjust low engine speeds;
  • high speed – screw H;
  • idle speed – screw T.

For reliable results when adjusting the carburetor, you must have practical experience and tachometer (a device for determining engine speed), and also know specifications saw blade (engine speed range).

Prerequisites:

The adjustment steps are as follows:

  • Screw L is used first;
  • next comes screw H;
  • the final stage is the T screw.

Carburetor adjustment sequence:

If one of the conditions is violated, the adjustment should be repeated, excluding the main, basic stage from it. If it is impossible to independently adjust the operation of the carburetor, it is advisable to contact professional technicians.

Remember that an unregulated saw is a source of increased danger.
