BISHOP AUGUSTINE: RUSSIA MUST GIVE MANKIND A NEW MODEL OF THE WORLD

Russia must offer all the peoples of the world a different model of “human life” in response to the dominant model of capitalism today, he said Bishop of Gorodets and Vetluzh Augustine (Anisimov) January 24, during the XXV International Christmas Readings at Moscow State University in the section “1917 and the Russian Way”, RIA Novosti reports.

“Today, when there is no longer such a powerful state and world force as the Soviet Union was, as a defender of weak peoples, as a champion of socialist justice, as a socialist model of an alternative to capitalism, transnational capitalist corporations and the transnational banking system, - today humanity is faced with a phenomenal question: either accept this paradigm and model of life for all peoples of the planet - I mean the current dominance of the Americans - or develop and accept another model,” noted bishop in his speech.

According to Augustine, the Soviet Union proved the viability of its model in the Great Patriotic War. But at the same time, he noted that after Stalin, Soviet rulers were no longer capable of managing the huge state machine of the Soviet state.

Bishop Augustine described the “Soviet” itself as

“not a national, not a religious or class concept. Political will and the system creates a new type of personality: everyone works for the power of the state, and the state returns to the members of society everything necessary for the formation of the Soviet type of personality and the Soviet way of people's life: everything is free, everything is honest, everything is responsible. The Soviet Union is a huge family headed by the father.”

The bishop put Stalin on a par with such outstanding historical figures in Russian history as Peter the Great, Ivan the Terrible, and Alexander Nevsky. But he noted that Stalin had a different scale of responsibility. The whole world looked at Soviet Russia to understand everything the creative power of humanity, which was revealed by the Soviet project. And this project was able to unite

“into one Union, into one idea, into one worldview, one ideology and one goal, dozens of ethnic groups, nations, peoples, personalities, and gave birth to a new phenomenon - with 15 national republics, with the most powerful legislative, scientific, educational, health, economic and economic base protected by the Armed Forces, unique state security system based on the new Constitution."

At the same time, Russia needs “historical fidelity to Orthodoxy,” Augustine added at the end.
