What does the Russian Ministry of Defense do?

Military force is put into action at the outbreak of war or armed conflict.

Today, the activities of the Armed Forces are planned based on the need to keep troops in constant readiness for all kinds of defensive and offensive actions, the ability to defend the country in two armed conflicts at once (one war and one conflict, two wars), to use peacekeeping means both as part of international contingents and with their own formations.

The tasks of the Armed Forces in wartime are to repel enemy aggression with appropriate/necessary means, promptly deploy, and then ensure the elimination of the enemy’s weapons and manpower, except those captured and surrendered.

Structure of the Ministry of Defense

Structural structure of the department:

Organizing the functioning and development of the military education system is one of the most important functions of the military education department of the Main Personnel Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Implementation of this function includes the following tasks:

determining directions for improving the education system of the Ministry of Defense;

development, with the participation of interested central military command and control bodies, of proposals for the creation, reorganization and liquidation of educational organizations of the Ministry of Defense;

organizing work to develop, in the prescribed manner, federal state educational standards for training specialists with higher education and secondary vocational education for the Armed Forces;

In addition, based on modern achievements of science and technology and taking into account the development of means of armed struggle, university training programs in all high-tech specialties have been adjusted. To train officers in the operation and use of robotic systems, leading scientists and teachers at military universities have developed a new federal state educational standard for higher education in the specialty “Military and Special Purpose Robotics.”

Universities of the Russian Ministry of Defense implement updated federal state educational standards of higher education, taking into account modern achievements of military science and technology, advanced experience of troops (forces) obtained during exercises and training, mobilization deployment of troops (forces), features of combat use and support of combat operations during special operations, including outside the Russian Federation. 3. The main tasks of the Russian Ministry of Defense are:

1) development and implementation of state policy in the field of defense;

2) legal regulation in the field of defense;

3) legal regulation of the activities of the Armed Forces and federal executive bodies subordinate to the Ministry of Defense of Russia;

4) coordination of the activities of federal executive authorities and executive authorities of constituent entities of the Russian Federation on defense issues, coordination of the activities of troops, military formations and bodies for performing tasks in the field of defense, as well as coordination of the construction of troops and military formations;

5) coordination and control of the activities of federal executive authorities subordinate to the Ministry of Defense of Russia;

4. The Russian Ministry of Defense in its activities is guided by the Constitution of the Russian Federation, federal constitutional laws, federal laws, acts of the President of the Russian Federation, including those issued by him as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Russian Federation, international treaties of the Russian Federation and these Regulations.

5. The Russian Ministry of Defense carries out its activities directly and through the governing bodies of military districts, other military command and control bodies, and territorial bodies (military commissariats).

6. The Russian Ministry of Defense carries out its activities in cooperation with other federal executive authorities, executive authorities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, local government bodies, public associations and organizations.
