TsA-2A Circular saw-and-rack machine with roller-disc feed for longitudinal sawing of boards. Application area

The Circular saw-and-rack machine is designed for high-performance longitudinal sawing of edged and unedged boards up to 80 mm thick into bars of the required width.

The machine can also saw slabs with a difference in their thickness (within one slab) of up to 30 mm. In this case, the slabs are fed into the machine with their flat surface down.

The machine is used in woodworking enterprises, sawmills, construction sites and other industries related to woodworking.

The design of the machine requires operation in a closed heated room.

Design features of the TsA-2A machine

The location of the saw shaft relative to the workpieces being processed is lower. The workpieces are fed by four rollers: two lower and two upper. The lower rollers base the workpieces, the upper rollers press them against the lower rollers. All rollers are driven, which ensures stable supply blanks

High productivity of the machine is ensured by a powerful electric motor driving the saw shaft (15 kW) and high feed speeds (up to 102 m/min). Unlike other machines of similar purpose, TsA 2A-1 can cut slabs.

In order to eliminate vibrations of the saw shaft, a double radial thrust bearing of increased precision is used in the spindle assembly; transmission of rotation to the shaft is carried out by one wide poly-V-belt. The upper roller and pressure discs swing around a fixed axis. They press the workpiece with their own weight, which makes it possible to cut workpieces of different thicknesses and slabs. All feed rollers and disks are grooved, which ensures the supply of even frozen wood.

An excursion into the history of the TsA-2A multi-saw machine new from storage (used TsA-2A multi-saw rack and pinion machine)

The manufacturer of the TsA-2A circular saw and rack saw is the Tyumen Machine Tool Plant, founded in 1899.

Currently, the plant produces machines TsA-2A-1, TsA-2A-2, which are distinguished by a more powerful electric motor for driving the saw shaft and a higher feed speed.

According to reviews from production workers, the TsA-2A series machines are one of the most reliable domestic circular saws. Until now, the plant receives requests for the supply of spare parts or individual parts to replace worn-out ones for machines that have been in production for 25–30 years. This durability is due to the thoughtfulness of the design and high quality manufacturing of the machine.

The TsA-2A machine is time-tested. Its predecessor, the TsA2 model, was put into production in 1973. Since then, it has been repeatedly modernized with expanded technological capabilities and increased power. The power of the saw drive electric motor was increased during this time from 11 kW to 22 kW, the maximum distance between the outer saws changed from 50 to 210 mm, instead of six fixed feed speeds there became eight, etc.

The machine can also saw slabs with a difference in their thickness (within one slab) of up to 30 mm. In this case, the slabs are fed into the machine with their flat surface down. The base of the machine and its frame have a welded and fairly rigid structure. The machine table is made of cast gray cast iron. The saw shaft housing, lower feed rollers and upper pressure roller housings are mounted on a table whose material dampens the resulting vibrations. Between the saws, spacer bushings are placed, the thickness of which is selected depending on the width of the bars being cut. The lower rollers are made of steel to increase their wear resistance. To improve the adhesion of the rollers to the wood of the workpieces, longitudinal grooves are made on their outer surface. At the intersections of the surfaces of the grooves with the outer surface of the rollers, sharp edges (corrugations) are formed, which ensures a stable supply of workpieces.

TsA-2A Location of machine controls:

Designed for high-performance longitudinal sawing of edged and unedged boards up to 80 mm thick into bars of the required width.

The machine can also saw slabs with a difference in their thickness (within one slab) of up to 30 mm. In this case, the slabs are fed into the machine with their flat surface down.

  • The base of the machine and its frame have a welded and fairly rigid structure. The machine table is made of cast gray cast iron. The saw shaft housing, lower feed rollers and upper pressure roller housings are mounted on a table whose material dampens the resulting vibrations. Therefore, the machine has sufficient vibration resistance.
  • The saw shaft is rotated by an electric motor through a poly-V-belt. The use of such a belt instead of a group of classic ones V-belts made it possible to reduce the load on the saw shaft and its bearings, reduce vibrations, because The poly V-belt works more quietly.
  • The saw shaft is mounted in bearings, the housings of which are mounted on the lower surface of the cast iron table of the machine. The front bearing is a double angular contact bearing of increased precision. It eliminates axial movements of the shaft and ensures, among other factors, the required processing accuracy. The rear bearing is also of high precision. In order to increase the durability of the bearings, replenishment of lubricant is provided through grease nipples.
  • The saws are installed on the cantilever section of the shaft through a key, which prevents them from turning. Between the saws, spacer bushings are placed, the thickness of which is selected depending on the width of the bars being cut. WITH outside flanges are installed on the end saws. The assembled saw package is clamped with a special gear nut, which has a thread direction opposite to the direction of rotation of the saw shaft. After clamping the saw package, the gear nut is locked with a special screw. All this provides reliable fastening drank. A special wrench for this nut is included with the machine. It greatly facilitates and speeds up the process of fastening saws.
  • The lower rollers are made of steel to increase their wear resistance. Their length is 350 mm. To improve the adhesion of the rollers to the wood of the workpieces, longitudinal grooves are made on their outer surface. At the intersections of the surfaces of the grooves with the outer surface of the rollers, sharp edges (corrugations) are formed, which ensures a stable supply of workpieces.
The upper rollers are also made of steel and corrugated - for the same purpose. They are located cantilevered on shafts. The latter are installed in bearings in brackets that can swing around a fixed axis. These rollers press the workpiece against the lower rollers both by their own weight and by springs. The height of the upper rollers is adjusted (to the thickness of the workpieces being cut) by rotating the corresponding flywheel. The lifting height of the rollers is measured using a special scale.
All rollers, both lower and upper, are rotated by an electric motor. This ensures a stable supply of workpieces, even in winter conditions.
  • Changing the feed speed is done by switching the rotation speed of a two-speed electric motor and by reinstalling the gears on one of the feed mechanism shafts. For this purpose, the machine is supplied with four replacement gears. They are located in the machine on the cantilever section of the shaft and changing them takes only a few minutes. A variety of fixed feed speeds allows processing at optimal speed.
  • One guide knife is installed behind each of the saws, which are also included in the delivery of the machine. When the workpiece moves, the knives enter the cuts and additionally ensure its straight movement.
  • The machine includes a guide ruler. It is used to support sawn edged boards. The ruler can be reinstalled in the machine depending on the width of the block cut by the end saw (between the saw and the ruler). The width is measured using a scale. Adjustment screws are used to adjust the base surface of the ruler parallel to the plane of the saw.
  • The machine is safe to use. For this there are special protective devices: two rows of upper safety stops that prevent the workpiece or its sawn parts from being thrown towards the machine operator; guards for saws, chain drives, rollers; dynamic braking system for the electric motor of the saw drive, ensuring quick stop of the saws when the drive is disconnected from the network: reverse feed - for removing unfinished workpiece from the machine (if necessary); shear safety pin in the feed mechanism and others.
  • The machine is quite compact due to the fact that the saw drive and feed drive are located in the frame. As a result, it takes up little production space.
