Installation of a concrete fence: recommendations and implementation features. What to make an inexpensive fence for your dacha How to build a good fence

In addition to purely practical functions, such as protecting your personal space from prying eyes and the entry of unwanted “guests,” the fence performs an equally important aesthetic function. A good fence should fit into environment and not look like an alien element against the background of the general architectural composition your house.

The wide range of materials used today for the construction of fences gives complete freedom to creative thought and flight of fancy. And master classes with step-by-step instructions for making a fence allow even beginners to build their own fence for their home or property. In our article you will find all the information on how to make a fence with your own hands.

DIY stone fence

Stone remains one of the most popular materials for building a fence. In terms of reliability and durability, stone is far superior to other materials for building fences. From the depths of centuries they have been preserved and have come down to us precisely masonry fortified buildings. How to build a stone fence with your own hands?

Construction stages

The entire process of erecting a stone fence consists of the following stages:

  1. Layout and marking
  2. Laying the foundation
  3. Construction of pillars
  4. Masonry

Layout

First of all, we create a preliminary drawing, with an exact indication of the height and length of the building, as well as indicating the location of the gate and wicket.

Marking

We mark the boundaries of the area that will be enclosed by a fence by driving in its corners pegs. We stretch the cord between them and in places where the drawing provides for the location of the pillars, we drive in additional stakes. The distance between support pillars should not exceed 2.5 m.

Foundation

Guided by the markings made, we begin digging the foundation trench. Tight threads allow you to get straight lines when digging. A stone fence is a heavy structure that requires solid foundation, to avoid subsidence in the future. The trench is dug to a depth of 60 - 70 cm. However, if the height of the fence exceeds 2 m, then with each additional meter height, the depth of the foundation increases by 10 cm. The width depends on the size of the stone, but on average it does not exceed 40 cm.

Before pouring the foundation, we lay a cushion of sand or crushed stone. We compact it well and begin to strengthen the base with reinforcement of the middle section. We lay out a waterproofing layer of roofing felt, install the formwork and, finally, start pouring. Depending on the brand of concrete, the foundation will set and acquire the required hardness within 15 to 30 days. In cold weather it takes longer to harden. In hot weather, moisture is lost, which is necessary for the hardening processes. Therefore, in the summer after pouring, you should cover the foundation with a thick tarpaulin and regularly moisten it.

Construction of pillars

After the base has hardened, we begin building the pillars. To build a stone fence with your own hands, you should choose suitable material. If you lack masonry experience, it is recommended to lay the pillars out of hewn stones with smooth edges. Rubble stone is more difficult to lay out, but it allows you to create unique design structures.

We install the formwork for the bottom layer and place the stones in it with the even side out, trying to place them as closely as possible to each other. Thick cement mixture pour into the gaps between the stones. If the mixture gets on the surface of the stone, remove it wire brush only after complete drying and without the use of water. Lay out all subsequent rows in the same way.

Laying spans

Laying out spans is carried out using the same technology as erecting pillars. To give it an aesthetic appearance, add dry dye to the mixture. At the end of the work, use a narrow spatula to fill out the seams.

DIY brick fence

A brick fence is not just a reliable fence for your home. Thanks to its aesthetic qualities, brick buildings look stylish and laconic. And the correct one geometric shape material allows even a beginner to build a brick fence with his own hands.

Since brick is not a cheap pleasure, important stage construction is advance paynemt required materials. The number of bricks is calculated based on the following parameters:

  • wall thickness (one or two bricks);
  • height;
  • fence length.

The following stages of work:

  1. Marking
  2. Foundation structure
  3. Construction of brick pillars

After marking and marking the locations of the pillars, we begin digging a trench and drilling recesses for the vertical supports. The depth of the trench is 40 - 45 cm, taking into account the thickness of the buffer layer of sand or crushed stone, the depth of the holes is about 1.5 m. The diameter of the hole must exceed the diameter of the section metal support by 15 - 20 cm. We install the pillars in the prepared recesses.

We fasten the formwork, after which we lay out a sand cushion and reinforce the foundation. We lay out a waterproofing layer that prevents the outflow of moisture from the cement mixture. We fill the resulting base with concrete, not forgetting to fill the holes around the pillars with it, compacting the mixture during the pouring process.

After the concrete has completely dried (20 - 30 days), we begin the construction of brick pillars by laying vertical supports. The simplest type of masonry is laying out 4 elements around a pillar. Bricks of lodges

They are placed on a cement mixture, compact compaction of which is achieved by lightly tapping the brick. There are quite a lot of masonry options: the photo shows some of them. Following step by step instructions making a brick fence, presented in the video materials, you can build a beautiful and reliable fence for your home without resorting to the expensive services of professionals.

Do-it-yourself corrugated fence

If you need it quickly, reliably and without extra expenses protect the area from prying eyes, the best solution is a fence made of corrugated board. This material has a number of advantages:

  • fences made of corrugated sheets are durable and strong;
  • are resistant to adverse natural factors;
  • have good sound insulation;
  • do not require special care;
  • fits well into any surroundings;
  • affordable;
  • installation of a fence made of corrugated sheets does not require special preparation.

Profiled sheet is an excellent option for fencing a garden or summer cottage. Using the photo instructions below for building a fence at your dacha, you can easily build such a fence.

Construction stages

  1. Layout and marking
  2. Installation of vertical supports
  3. Installation of horizontal logs
  4. Installation of corrugated sheets

Layout and marking

In order to mount a corrugated fence with your own hands, you can do without a preliminary drawing. It is enough to measure the area around the perimeter, determine the place where the gate will be located and make marking, marking with pegs the corners and places of vertical posts, the distance between which should not exceed 3 m. We leave the location of the gate free.

Installation of racks

In the designated areas there are indentations, the depth of which should be equal to 1/3 of the height of the rack. The diameter should exceed the cross-sectional diameter of the rack by 15 - 20 cm. Both round and round pipes can be used. square section. We install the supports strictly vertically, using a level. Place a layer of sand or gravel at the bottom of the hole and fill it with concrete.

Installation of horizontal logs

After 3-4 days, after the concrete has completely dried, we weld transverse joists to the vertical posts at the rate of one joist for each meter of fence height.

Fastening the corrugated sheet

Finally, we attach corrugated sheets to the finished frame, installing them overlapping, overlapping one another to the depth of one wave. We fasten with self-tapping screws or rivets in increments of 50 cm. Scratches formed during the work are painted over with spray paint or covered with a primer to prevent corrosion.

DIY slab fence

Supporters of eco-style will like a fence made of slab, which is not only original, but also economical solution when constructing a fence. Gorbyl- This is residual cheap lumber formed during the longitudinal sawing of logs. One of its surfaces is smooth, and the other is convex with remnants of bark. The higher the surface knotiness, the lower the cost of the material.

Croaker is an excellent material for constructing a wooden fence country house. Photo instructions for building a fence at the dacha will help even a person who is far from the intricacies of construction skills to build such a fence.

Construction stages

  1. Layout and marking
  2. Installation of vertical racks
  3. Installation of crossbars
  4. Attaching the slab

Layout and marking

To build a fence from a slab with your own hands, we stretch a thread along the perimeter of the site and along it we mark the places of vertical supports in increments of 2 - 2.5 m.

Installation of supports

We dig holes for vertical supports to the depth of soil freezing (1 - 1.5 m). Both metal pipes and wooden poles. In the latter case, the pillars should be tarred with hot resin or varnished to the height placed in the ground. Using a level, install the posts strictly vertically and fill them with concrete.

Installation of crossbars

Cross bars are not always needed. The need for them appears only if the slab strips are attached vertically. When mounted horizontally, they can be fixed directly to vertical supports.

Attaching the slab

The method of laying the slab depends only on your imagination. The planks can be laid overlapping or with a gap, vertically or horizontally. When laying overlapping, the planks should overlap each other by less than 2 cm, since drying out by 1.5 cm should be expected. When the planks are placed vertically, their upper edge can be made smooth or shaped.

Some useful tips

The following recommendations will help extend the life of a slab fence:

  1. You should not use boards that are too wide: over time they will crack, which will impair the strength and appearance of the fence.
  2. The finished fence should be coated with paint or varnish: in this way you can not only give it a more aesthetic appearance, but also create a barrier to rotting.
  3. Install gable roof above the fence: this will emphasize the retro style and protect your fence from moisture.

DIY bamboo fence

Do you want to highlight your site against the general background of dull fences? Then the fence from bamboo- this is what you need. This exotic plant will add a touch of originality to your architectural ensemble. A bamboo fence will look stylish and interesting. How to make such a fence with your own hands? Our photo instructions will help you complete the task easily.

Stages of work

  1. Territory marking
  2. Installation of vertical supports
  3. Making a wooden frame
  4. Assembling a bamboo shield on a wooden base
  5. Attaching bamboo shields to poles

Marking

Regardless of what material the fence is built from, work always begins with marking the territory and designating places for vertical supports. To build a bamboo fence with your own hands, wooden posts are used as supports.

Installation of vertical supports

In the marked places, recesses are dug to 1/3 of the height of the pillar. To prevent wood rotting, we tar or coat bitumen mastic that part of the pillar that will be in the ground. We install the support strictly vertically, using a level or plumb line. Place a layer of sand or gravel at the bottom of the hole and fill in the cement mixture. Leave for 3 - 4 days until the concrete sets.

Let's prepare wooden frame

We nail metal embedded parts to the pillars, which will hold the wooden frame. Parts on adjacent pillars must be at the same level. To achieve this, we use a board and a level.

We cut horizontal boards to the required length and insert them into the embedded parts on the pillars. Then we proceed to install the vertical x boards. We fasten them with self-tapping screws to horizontal boards in increments not exceeding 1 m.

Assembling a bamboo shield

We remove the finished wooden frame from the vertical supports and place it on the trestles. We screw screws into the corners of the frame to prevent the bamboo trunks from rolling off the base. We begin to lay the bamboo on the frame, fitting the trunks tightly to each other. We attach the bamboo to the base with self-tapping screws. Using a wide board, mark the desired height of the bamboo shield and circular saw cut off everything unnecessary. We do the same from the other edge. Our bamboo shield is ready.

Assembling the fence

We install the finished fence element into the holding parts on the posts and fasten it with self-tapping screws. We cover the fastening points with bamboo trunks. To prevent rainwater from getting inside the trunks, we lay boards along the upper edge of the fence, which we attach to the posts with self-tapping screws. To extend the life of the fence, we treat bamboo and all wooden parts with an antiseptic primer and coat it with waterproof varnish.

DIY wicker fence

If you are tired of dull concrete and iron fences that constantly catch your eye, fence your area with a lightweight wicker structure that will give the exterior of your house or cottage an airy and pastoral atmosphere. It’s not at all difficult to build a wicker fence at your dacha with your own hands. All you need is inspiration and a little patience. So, what do we need for this?

In order to make a wicker fence with your own hands, you should carefully consider the choice of wood. The rods should be thin, obedient, but at the same time durable. The best are considered the following types trees:

  • Alder
  • Hazel
  • Birch

There are many ways to weave a fence. From the schemes presented here, you can choose the option you like best.

The first step in building a wicker fence is to create basics. To do this, wooden or metal posts of the desired height are driven into the ground at a distance of 50 - 60 cm from each other and to a depth of 40 - 45 cm. In this case, the thickness of the racks directly depends on the thickness of the rods.

Before starting work, the weaving material must be softened in a steam room or in a salt bath. This will make the rods more pliable. Then we proceed directly to weaving. We fasten the twig with wire to the first post and begin to move it in a checkerboard pattern between the remaining posts. To avoid rotting processes, the wattle fence should not fit tightly to the ground: leave a gap of 5 - 10 cm.

Wicker fence made of boards

A separate type of wicker fence is a wicker fence made of boards. Such a fence looks solid and impressive and can be used not only for a summer house, but also for a home.

For the construction of such a fence, only metal ones are used. vertical racks, which are necessarily concreted, since the pressure of the boards on them is high. Planed boards are used, which are attached to the racks with self-tapping screws. Finally, the wood is covered with a layer of protective mastic and painted.

Norms and rules for installing fences

When erecting fences and enclosures, you should be guided not only by your own taste and capabilities, but also by generally accepted norms and rules:

  • The choice of material for the fence facing the main highway should be agreed upon with local authorities: it must comply with the overall architectural plan and not be hazardous.
  • Height such a fence should not exceed 2.2 m.
  • If the fence is located at a distance of less than 1.5 m from a public street section, then gates should open inward so as not to impede movement.

Rules for installing fences between neighboring areas:

  • Maximum permissible height- 2.2 m.
  • At the same time, the height deaf the fence should not exceed 0.75 m, and the rest of the fence should be mesh or lattice. Otherwise, written agreement neighbors.
  • Without the consent of neighbors, you can install a solid fence up to 2.2 m high from light transmitting materials.
  • Thickness fencing increases only at the expense of your site.
  • The construction of a blind fence requires installation drainage, in order to avoid flooding of the neighboring area.
  • Allowed to create hedge, the height of which should not exceed 1.5 m.

If you decide to build a fence at your dacha with your own hands, you should take into account the following fencing planning standards:

  • the height of the fence separating the site from the street can reach 2 m;
  • by decision of the meeting of the gardening association, the fence can be made of solid materials;
  • fences between neighboring areas should not exceed 1.5 m and should be light-transmitting.

Fire regulations

Fire safety standards are regulated by SNiP Russian Federation. According to fire safety regulations, minimum distances between buildings depend on the material from which they are made:

  • For concrete and stone structures this distance is 6 m.
  • If concrete, stone or iron structures contain wooden parts, the minimum distance increases to 8 m.
  • For wooden structures this distance is 15 m.

When erecting a fence, owners of dachas and private houses will have to take into account the provisions of the joint venture regarding:

  • transparency of the fence;
  • fire safety standards;
  • sanitary rules.

The height of the fence between neighboring areas is not established by the Code of Rules (in SNiP this issue was regulated). With regard to the transparency of enclosing structures, the norms of SP 53.13330.2011 are advisory in nature. Therefore, by agreement between neighbors, these fence parameters can be changed in accordance with your own preferences. Regarding fire protection and sanitary standards- these are stringent requirements that affect safety. Here, deviation from the rules is not allowed.

Another important point. Although most of the provisions of the joint venture are recommendations, on their basis development projects are drawn up and charters of gardening and dacha partnerships are written. And the requirements of these documents are already mandatory. So if a fence is being built between plots in SNT, then you will also need to take into account the clauses of the charter of your partnership.

In addition, the local administration, relying on the joint venture, can formulate its own requirements for fencing. These formulations are also taken into account.

How to start building a fence correctly

If you think that work on installing a fence begins with marking the area for the posts, you are mistaken. You can’t just install a fence between neighbors in a country house or around a private house. You must first obtain the appropriate permission.

We tell you step by step how to do this:

  1. Coordinate the boundaries of the site with the owners of neighboring plots.

    To do this, first study the plans - cadastral and boundary plans - in order to determine the delimitation of the plots. Then you sign an act of approval of boundary boundaries with your neighbors. If a dispute arises about whose territory is, involve a surveyor in the matter. He will inspect, measure and plan everything in accordance with the land plot documentation.

  2. Decide on the fencing parameters.

    Agree on the transparency and height of the fence if they differ from those established by the Code of Practice and the local administration. Sign the corresponding act or agreement with the owners of adjacent plots.

  3. You receive official permission.

    Go to the architecture department of the local administration. Take with you:

    • land documents;
    • cadastral and boundary plans;
    • act of approval of boundary boundaries;
    • agreement or act of approval of fencing parameters.

    There you write a statement addressed to the head of the administration. After reviewing the documents, you receive permission. Please note that this may take up to a month.

Is it possible to do without all these steps? Theoretically, yes, but since it is illegal, expect problems:

  • Neighbors can start legal proceedings if they disagree with the boundaries of their plots, the height of the fence or its continuous covering. They have a high chance of winning a lawsuit.
  • A fence erected without a formalized permit will be considered unauthorized. Therefore, they will force you to demolish it and issue you a fine of 3–5 minimum wages (in 2018, the fine ranged from 28.5 to 47.5 thousand rubles).

What fence height is acceptable between neighbors?

Previously, SNiP No. 30-02-97 recommended the height of the fence between adjacent plots of no more than 1.5 m. Now the Code of Rules 53.13330.2011 is in force, and this parameter is not regulated in it. Therefore, everything depends on your agreements with the owners of adjacent plots. Be sure to put the agreements reached in writing to avoid problems in the future.

Requirements for transparency of fencing between sections

Clause 6.2 of the Code of Rules recommends installing garden and summer cottages mesh fencing. However, if there is a written agreement between neighbors, the construction of a blind fence of any type is allowed - from corrugated sheets, euro-fence, stone, brick, etc.

A deed or agreement between the owners of neighboring plots will need to be endorsed by the board of your partnership.

Fire protection when installing fences

It should be said right away that SP 53.13330.2011 does not contain standards regulating fire safety distances within the boundaries of one land plot. All fire service requirements relate to the distance of buildings and structures between neighboring areas. The minimum distances depend on the degree of flammability of the materials used during construction:

These codes are designed to protect people and structures in the event of an emergency. Therefore, their compliance must be treated with maximum attention.

Sanitary rules to consider when building a fence

Sanitary standards are also mandatory because they protect people and pets from possible infections and poisonings. Therefore, the joint venture provides for minimum distances between the site boundaries (that is, actually fences) and all kinds of buildings.

A fence between neighbors must be built at a distance of at least:

  • 3 m - from residential buildings;
  • 4 m - from buildings for keeping livestock;
  • 1 m - from the bush.
  • 2 m - from medium-sized trees;
  • 4 m - from tall trees;

Please note: if a garage or other buildings are adjacent to residential building, then the distance to the border of an adjacent plot is measured separately for each object of such a complex. For example, if a poultry barn is adjacent to the house, then you need to retreat at least 3 m from the house, and at least 4 m from the outbuildings. Therefore, when installing a fence, immediately take into account the larger of the permissible distances.

Many construction crews undertake the installation of a fence made of corrugated sheets. The process is not troublesome and fast, and the earnings are significant.

You can eliminate this expense item from the overall estimate for landscaping a dacha or private home by deciding to make a fence from corrugated sheets with your own hands.

The purpose of the fence on the site is to enclose the territory. At the same time, he has another function - representative.

Previously, the main material for constructing fences was wood - an affordable material, but requiring care and protection from destruction; currently, other building materials compete with it: brick, concrete, polycarbonate, mesh, forging, corrugated board.

In terms of the ratio of the parameters “price-installation-durability-appearance”, the leadership belongs to corrugated sheeting, which has led to its wide distribution among users.

Advantages of corrugated fences

  • ease of material and installation;
  • strength (stiffness);
  • corrosion resistance;
  • uniform and very slow fading (like paint on a car);
  • aesthetic appeal;
  • low maintenance requirements;
  • long service life;
  • relatively low price.

Few have such a list of advantages. building materials. But all these properties are fully revealed only when correct installation. This means you need to know how to make a fence from corrugated board correctly. Within the article, we will talk about the nuances of choosing a material, the specifics of its calculation, the types of frames for a fence, we will describe how to attach corrugated sheeting and much more.

Do-it-yourself corrugated fence -
step by step guide from A to Z

Installation of a fence made of corrugated sheets only involves screwing the sheet to the frame; this is a process consisting of several stages. We will describe each of them in detail in the form of step-by-step instructions.

Stage 1. Scheme of a fence made of corrugated sheets - from sketch to drawing

Arbitrary schematic drawing(sketch) is needed in order to visualize design features fence

There are two types (types) of corrugated fence:

  • solid;
  • sectional.

It is the type of fence that determines the material consumption and methods of installing structural elements.

The following is applied to the drawing diagram:

  • location of the fence on the site. Helps to take into account the features of the site: topography, plantings, buildings, access roads, location of gates, etc.;
  • if the area is uneven (hill, lowland), mark the place where there will be differences in elevation. Manufacturers producing high-quality material produce profiled sheets with a length that is a multiple of 50 mm. this allows you to achieve visually the same fence height, despite differences in ground heights.
  • dimensions: fence height and length of individual straight sections;
  • location of the columns (supports);

Note. At sectional fence The width of the section is determined by the width of the sheet. It must be a multiple of 1, 1.5 or 2 sheets.

A detailed diagram simplifies the calculation of the material.

Stage 2. Materials for corrugated fence

Construction will proceed quickly if the materials necessary for manufacturing are prepared in a timely manner.

What materials are needed for a fence made of corrugated sheets:

1. Corrugated sheeting

When choosing a profiled sheet (corrugated sheet), you need to pay attention to the thickness (0.45-0.5 mm +/- 0.06 mm), wave height, absence of a capillary groove, parameters, coating, color and texture.

The profiled sheet has a high windage, this must be taken into account when planning the frame.

Note. The dimensions of corrugated sheets for fences differ between different manufacturers; this must be taken into account when choosing a material. It is also worth knowing that the warranty period for galvanized corrugated sheeting is 20-30 years, and with polyester coating - up to 50 years (depending on the thickness of the layer).

2. Support posts (pillars)

Theoretically, any material can be used: wood, stone, metal.

When deciding which poles to use for a fence, keep in mind that the simplest and affordable option- metal pipes.

The parameters of the racks depend on the expected load. Typically, pipes of 60x40x2 mm or 40x40x2 mm are used. For round pipes diameter - 60-100 mm.

You can use purchased ready-made pipes for the fence (photo) (for any type of soil) or piles (normal soils and loams).

The advantage of ready-made support posts is the presence of a “heel” for installation on a cushion, holes for attaching corrugated sheets and an upper plug that prevents water from entering the post.

3. Transverse joists

For logs (crossbars) it makes sense to use square pipes 40x40x2 mm. or 40x20x2 mm. General recommendation- the width of the log is equal to half the width of the support column.

It is unacceptable to use wooden logs, because the wood tends to rot in the place where the sheet is attached. This will not only reduce the service life of the fence, but will also prevent the sheet from being reused. Metal corner It is also not suitable for logs; with a thickness of 2 mm, it will not provide adequate resistance to wind load, and manufacturers do not recommend using a thicker one.

Note. A special self-tapping screw for corrugated sheets with a drill is designed for drilling metal with a thickness of no more than 2.5 mm. So the use of a thick-walled profile is fraught with additional drilling efforts.

4. Plate holder (bracket) for corrugated sheeting

Special fasteners (brackets) are used when assembling the fence frame using a non-welding method, using hardware.

5. Plugs for pillars (supports)

Plastic plugs perform protective function so that water does not get inside the pipe.

In practice, the pole is covered with a special cover or a plastic bottle. Not very aesthetically pleasing, but certainly cheap, and good as a temporary solution to the problem.

6. Hardware

Needed for weldless assembly of the fence frame. For this, an M6 bolt or screw (30 and 20 mm) is used. As well as self-tapping screws for attaching corrugated sheets or rivets.

Professionals advise using a self-tapping screw, because... it is equipped with an additional gasket (neoprene rubber), which allows you to press the corrugated sheet tightly without damaging its surface. Its length is 15-35 mm.

Advice. When using rivets, it is recommended to treat the edges of the holes under them with special paint. This will prevent the rapid appearance of rust at the fastening site and the formation of rusty stains on the corrugated sheet, which are very difficult to eliminate.

The paint is used to touch up scratches that may appear during installation of the corrugated sheet, as well as to paint over the cut area on the sheet. The consumption is small, one can is usually enough.

8. Decorative end strip for decorating a fence

A U-shaped strip (fence, cover), which is installed on the upper edge (edge) of the profiled sheet and protects users from possible cuts, and the sheet from rust.

Material prepared for the website www.site

Note. When purchasing, please note that the edges of the plank must be curved (rolled). Otherwise, they will not only scratch the metal during installation, but will lose their shape (the edges will move away from the sheet) during operation.

Additional materials and tools:

  • cement, gravel, sand - for installing support pillars or arranging a foundation;
  • level, plumb line, welding machine(and consumables), screwdriver, solution containers, formwork boards (if necessary), shovel or drill, primer and anti-corrosion solution for metal, rivet gun (if necessary), rope, safety glasses and gloves, grinder (if necessary, cutting corrugated sheets ).

Stage 3. Calculation of material for a fence made of corrugated sheets

How to determine how much building material is required for production.

1. Calculation of the number of corrugated sheets:

  • with a continuous fence, the total length of the fence is divided by the useful width of the sheet. Rounding up;
  • with sectional If the size of the section (span) is equal to the width of the sheet, the total width of the sheet is used. If you plan to install one and a half or two sheets there, it’s useful.

Note. The sheet can be installed both vertically and horizontally. At horizontal mounting the height of the fence will be equal to 1, 2 or 3 working widths of the sheet. For vertical - determined by the customer.

Advice. When calculating, do not operate with such a concept as total area required corrugated sheeting. Make calculations in pieces for a given sheet height.

2. Calculation of the number of posts for a corrugated fence

The number of supports depends on the distance between the corrugated fence posts

  • with a continuous fence, the total length of the fence is divided by the estimated distance between the posts (posts). Taking into account the windage of the sheet, it is taken equal to 2,000 - 3,000 mm. It is not advisable to increase the distance, since this will lead to an increase in the thickness of the racks or the number of longitudinal joists.
  • with sectional The quantity is determined by the estimated number of sections. When installing posts for mounting fence sections, you need to calculate in advance the distance between the posts so that it corresponds to the total (when installing one sheet per section) or useful (1.5-2 sheets) area of the corrugated sheet.

Note. The calculations take into account that support posts(pillars) must be installed at the corners of the fence, as well as at the location where the gate and/or gate is installed. The number of intermediate supports is rounded down. And the difference is compensated by the deviation from the specified distance between the posts.

The size of the post is determined by the height of the fence, taking into account that the posts go deep into the soil by 30% of their length. Thus, with a fence height of 2,000, the height of the support post for a fence made of corrugated board should be 2,600-2,700. For intermediate posts, an installation depth of 25% of the total height of the fence is allowed. Then the length of the rack will be 2,500 mm.

3. Calculation of the number of transverse joists

The quantity depends on the method of installing the fence.

  • Craftsmen advise using 2 logs for a fence height of up to 2,000 mm. Moreover, their distance from the edges of the corrugated sheet is 300 mm.
  • For a fence height of more than 2,000 mm - 3 logs.

Thus, the total length of the log is determined by multiplying the total length of the fence by the number of crossbars.

4. Plate holder

The number of plates is equal to the number of support posts multiplied by the number of rows of joists.

5. Pole plug

The number of plugs is equal to the number of support posts. Plus 2-3 spare ones (useful during the operation of the fence).

6. Hardware

When calculating the self-tapping screws, it is taken into account that the fastening is carried out in two extreme waves and through two in the middle of the profiled sheet into each of the transverse logs. Thus, with two transverse logs per sheet, 6 pieces are required, with three - 9 pieces. The number of hardware is rounded up in multiples of the packaging (standard packaging - 250 pcs). Because, during the process of tightening the self-tapping screw, defects may occur.

When fastening with rivets, their consumption increases, since they are fastened along the edges and through the wave.

Standard paint packaging: 50, 100, 200, 500, 900 g. The choice depends on the length of the fence. Usually 50 gr. jars are enough.

8. Decorative end strip

The quantity is equal to the length of the fence divided by the working length of the plank. Standard length strips are 2,000 mm, working (including overlap) is 1850-1950 mm.

Stage 4. Installing a corrugated fence with your own hands

Installation technology step by step:

1. Site preparation

Clearing the soil surface of anything that will interfere with the installation of sheets and posts.

2. Construction of the foundation and/or installation of support columns

Note. The destruction of the corrugated sheet begins at the point of contact with the ground surface. Pebbles, dirt, and mechanical damage lead to the appearance of defects at the bottom of the sheet. Besides, uneven terrain The terrain of the site often creates difficulties when installing supports. That is why the foundation for a fence made of corrugated sheets is a mandatory stage in constructing a fence.

Which foundation is better for a corrugated fence?

A soil study usually helps to decide on which foundation to install a corrugated sheet fence in a specific area. But since a fence made of corrugated board is a relatively lightweight structure, an ordinary one will be suitable for it. Its optimal depth is 300-400 mm, and the minimum width of the foundation for a fence made of corrugated sheets is determined by the width of the support post (posts).

We will not dwell in detail on how to pour the foundation. But let us note this nuance: the depth of the pit in the place where the base support posts are installed (at the edges of the fence, corners, at the place where the gates are installed) should be 1/3 of their height + 100-150 mm for installing a cushion under the base of the post. For intermediate posts - 1/4 of the height of the support + the height of the pillow. This will eliminate the influence groundwater and soil freezing on the stand.

Preparation and installation of formwork is no different from arrangement strip foundation under a house or gazebo.

First of all, the basic support posts are installed (along the edges of even sections of the fence), a rope is stretched between them and intermediate posts are installed along it. At the location where the support posts are installed, the soil is removed with a drill and a gravel-sand cushion is poured onto which the posts are installed. In this case, metal pipes should be treated with an anti-corrosion solution.

Users note that it is better to concrete the racks at 100-150 mm. This way they remain stable when reinforcing the formwork and filling it with concrete. If you plan to compact the pillars, then the cushion should be made 200-250 mm high and the posts should be hammered into it. This method is more labor-intensive, but less expensive and reliable.

Advice. The use of a level and plumb line when installing racks is mandatory.

More simple option There will be installation of support posts without laying out the foundation. Installation requirements are similar. The depth is equal to 1/3 or 1/4 of the length of the rack depending on the location of its installation, the thickness of the gravel-sand cushion is 100-150 mm, mandatory treatment with an anti-corrosion solution, checking the level and reliable concreting.

Note. In practice, corrugated fence posts are installed with deviations from the given technology. This is justified in stable soils.

Alternative ways to install racks are shown in the diagram.

3. Installation of logs

The corrugated sheeting is fastened to transverse joists. They are mounted on support posts after they are securely concreted. In this case, you cannot rush the work, because... this may cause the stand to deviate from the vertical.

Cross joists can be welded or screwed to the support posts. Craftsmen recommend using a holder plate (bracket) for these purposes. Thus, the plate is screwed to the support post, and the joists to the plate; this makes the project a little longer and more expensive, but the fastening is considered more reliable.

Three ways to attach joists to support posts (photo)

- end-to-end in front of the post. The method is ideal for constructing solid fences;

- behind the pillar using a holder (bracket). Suitable for constructing sectional fences;

- on the side of the pillar. The advantage of this method is that the corrugated sheet can be attached not only to the joist, but also to the support column, which makes the structure more stable. But the duration of work and the consumption of self-tapping screws increases. Suitable for constructing sectional fences.

Note. If the site has a significant slope, the transverse logs are mounted offset, as shown in the photo.

The fully finished frame is coated with anti-corrosion primer and paint.

4. Decorative design of columns

This stage is possible only if a sectional type of corrugated fence is selected. Here, the installed metal support posts can be lined with brick or lined with stone. According to many users, a fence made of corrugated board with brick pillars, looks more beautiful and presentable than with metal stands or even a solid one.

Note. Such decoration of fence supports is thought out at the planning stage. Because Availability brickwork makes adjustments to the distance between the pillars, and hence the number of sheets mounted in the sections.

Of course, you can decide to finish the racks with bricks at any stage, but you should be prepared for the fact that the corrugated sheet will have to be cut to length, and this will lead to waste not only of the sheet, but also of paint, and cutting tool, time and money.

Users agree that this work should be entrusted to masonry masters, because... It is the bricklaying in this case that will determine the aesthetic properties of the fence. If you decide to do the work yourself, you should know:

  • it is advisable to use decorative brick high quality (chips and efflorescence are unacceptable);
  • maintain the same thickness of the masonry seam;
  • completely fill the void between the masonry and the support pipe concrete mortar;
  • make a decorative element at the top of the pillar.

5. Installation of corrugated sheets on the fence

To avoid rust, you need to know how to attach corrugated sheets correctly.

To fasten the corrugated sheets to each other and to the joist, rivets or special screws are used. Installation begins based on the sheet configuration. One of the outer waves of the sheet is a covering wave (left or right depends on the manufacturer’s equipment). The first sheet is mounted in such a way that the covering wave of the next one covers the wave of the previous one, and not vice versa. In order not to encounter a situation where a piece of sheet material fails near the gate, installation should begin with these elements.

Advice. To ensure ventilation, you need to make the distance of the sheet along the ground surface 50-100 mm.

The corrugated sheet must be secured at the edges to each of the transverse joists. One fastener is located in the middle of the sheet. If the fence is being built in a windy region, it is advisable to fasten the hardware through two waves.

How to properly attach a corrugated sheet?

To screw a self-tapping screw into corrugated sheeting, you also need to have certain skills. Namely, to know that the self-tapping screw:

  • “jumping off” of the self-tapping screw threatens to damage the front surface of the corrugated sheet.

6. Installation of additional elements

In fact, the installation of a fence made of corrugated sheets ends with the steps described above. However, manufacturers, craftsmen and experienced users recommend covering the upper end of the profiled sheet with a special decorative U-shaped strip (end fence strip).

The overlay will give the fence an aesthetic appearance and prevent damage to users from the sharp edges of the sheet.

The plank is simply placed on the sheet, so when ordering, pay attention to its width.

For corrugated sheets with a wave height of 8 mm, you need a strip 10 mm wide (including rolling) or 8 mm (without rolling).

Please note that the corrugated sheets of most manufacturers are colored only on one side. The unpainted gray side looks towards the house. If you plant trees, shrubs or grapes along the fence, this will hide the unpresentable appearance of the fence.

Stage 5. Cleaning the area after construction of the fence

Cleaning is the logical conclusion of the construction process. Cleaning is necessary in order to avoid injury from scraps of corrugated board, scattered screws and to give the area a well-groomed appearance.

Conclusion

A fence made of corrugated sheets looks great and withstands any temperature changes and all types of atmospheric phenomena. But there are two weak points - windage and poor quality installation. We hope that the information provided here will allow us to take into account and eliminate both of these shortcomings in a timely manner.

Today, a person who decides to build a house on his own must be prepared for significant costs. Most of the money is often spent on the foundation and laying the walls, but in most cases you have to spend a lot on things that at first glance do not seem obvious. We're talking about a fence.

A smart owner of a future home sets the goal of saving on such details. Moreover, this is a completely justified and feasible solution.

A key way to reduce the cost of a fence is to do it yourself. Do not underestimate the importance of this process, since the fence is not only a decorative structure that hides the territory from prying eyes, but also a protective fence designed to prevent suspicious persons from entering the site.

In other words, the design must be reliable, durable and aesthetically pleasing. Only under such conditions will it satisfy all the requirements placed on it. In our case, ease of installation should also be added to the list of conditions.

Materials for building a fence

There are several basic materials that allow you to build an inexpensive and functional structure:

  • tree;
  • Rabitz;
  • corrugated sheeting;
  • plastic.

The main limiter in construction technology and combination of materials is financial costs. First, you should select the material that will become the basis for the fence, then find a suitable economical construction technology, and then make basic calculations.

Wooden fence: pros and cons

Modern hardware stores offer a large number of wood options suitable for constructing a reliable structure. This material has some advantages over others, which makes it almost the most popular product.

Advantages of wooden structures:

Flaws:

Materials for installing a wooden fence

To build a standard wooden fence, you will need materials such as: picket fence, cross boards, support pillars, pegs, ropes, cement, sand, shovel, saw, fasteners, special remedy against wood rotting.

It is best if the entire set of tools is collected in one place within reach to facilitate access to components.

Construction of a wooden fence

Stage 1. We mark the site for the structure and determine the location of the gate. We use pegs and rope. The distance between the pillars is 2 meters. This is how the structure’s resistance to external influences is ensured.

Stage 2. Take a shovel and dig holes for the support pillars.

Stage 3. We immerse the pillars in the ground by about one-fourth of their length.

Stage 4. We install spacers to secure the pillars and fill the hole with cement mixed with sand.

Stage 5. We drive in the cross boards.

Stage 6. We fix the picket fence vertically on the transverse boards.

Stage 7. Paint the finished fence in the chosen color.

That's it for the construction work wooden fence are considered completed. This is a relatively simple fence option that is usually installed as a temporary option.

A fence made of mesh is considered the most economical option, available today. Among the advantages of such fences it should be noted:

Clarifying the last point, it should be noted that installation will require tools that are easy to find in every home. In addition, modern stores offer a wide range of meshes of the most different colors and sizes, which allows you to move away from the banal appearance fence

Materials for building a fence:

For those who adhere more original solutions, exist vinyl coverings, however, they tend to lose color over time.

Construction of a chain-link fence

Step 1. Carry out the markings.

Step 2. We dig holes for the support pillars.

Step 3. Place the pipes in the holes.

Mesh fence

Step 4. Fill the holes with pre-prepared concrete mortar. In some cases, builders simply drive pipes into the ground using a sledgehammer. This is possible provided the soil is sufficiently soft.

Step 5. We begin to secure the mesh. We fasten the beginning of the roll at the first pipe, which acts as the beginning of the future fence.

Step 6. We stretch the mesh around the remaining supports, gradually securing it. It is important to ensure that the mesh does not sag, otherwise all work will be useless.

Stages of work during sectional construction of a fence

Step 1. Lay the foundation.

Step 2. We build a tension frame from metal corners.

Step 3. Fasten the corners between the supports.

Step 4. Attach the mesh inside the corners using welding.

Chain-link fences are very easy to erect without the help of specialists, which allows you to save a lot and try your hand at it.

Corrugated fencing

This type of fence can rightfully be called the most common. Most often it is used for fencing summer cottages and private houses. To erect such a fence you will need a welding machine and a little patience. In general, the installation technology is very simple, which can be attributed to the advantages of the design.

Modern construction markets offer corrugated sheets various colors and sizes, so buyers should not limit themselves in their fantasies.

As additional components, you should purchase anti-corrosion paint, support structures, logs, shovels, screws, and also make a cement mortar.

Installation of a corrugated fence

Step 1. We mark for the future fence. It is important that the distance between adjacent supports does not exceed two and a half meters. Pegs and twine are used as auxiliary elements.

Step 2. We make indentations in the established places. In the future, supporting elements will be inserted into these holes. This task can be accomplished using a special drill or simply digging a hole with a shovel. The standard depth of the pit is one hundred and thirty centimeters.

Step 3. We install support pillars at the corners of the territory, and then along the entire perimeter.

Step 4. Strengthen the bases of the pillars with cement.

Step 5. Install the logs that are necessary for further attaching the corrugated sheeting.

Step 6. Attach the sheets to the joists using self-tapping screws.

Step 7. Painting metal elements enamel. In some cases, a primer is used.

Ultimately, the fence turns out to be quite pleasant in terms of aesthetic characteristics, as well as durable and reliable. It looks much more solid than a fence made of wood or chain-link mesh, and therefore can be regarded as a full-fledged fence.

Plastic fence

Plastic deservedly bears the title of one of the most available materials for building a fence. This is a real salvation for summer residents who do not want to build expensive structures on their plots.

The positive aspects of such fences are as follows:

  • strength;
  • durability;
  • ease of installation;
  • low cost;
  • nice appearance.

Installation of a plastic fence

Stage 1. We mark the area where we plan to install the fence.

Stage 2. Mark the places where the wicket and gate will be.

Stage 3. In established places, we drive support pillars into the ground.

Stage 4. We fix piles made of durable metal in the corners.

Stage 5. We stretch the piles along the perimeter of the site.

Stage 6. Secure the pillars with spacers.

Stage 7. Attach the sections between the supports.

Thus, as a result of simple machinations, a beautiful and functional fence is obtained, which in its external qualities, although it cannot compete with structures made of decorative stone or forged elements, but completely satisfies the owners of the territory.

This article discussed the simplest ways to build fences, the choice of which is determined only by your preferences. Now you can build cheap fence with your own hands.

No successful construction is possible without a clear understanding of the goal and vision of the final result, preliminary preparation to work and having basic construction skills. This also applies to the construction of all types of fences, fences and barriers. Mastering such construction techniques and skills is not difficult; you just need a little diligence and patience. And it’s probably worth starting by becoming familiar with the main principles of building fences and the tools necessary for this.

You can plan which fence to build by looking at photos of beautiful fences and designs of some of them. Regardless of the type of materials used, you will always need the ability to draw up a preliminary work plan, determine the main stages of construction, select the right tool, mark the structure on the ground.

Fence projects:

What size is best to make holes for posts?

The depth and diameter of the holes for the posts directly depends on the nature of the soil and the height of the fence. If the height of the planned fence is 2 m and the length of the posts is 3 m, then the optimal depth of the hole is 60-80 cm, then the post is driven tightly into the ground. The work is carried out using a hand or gas drill with an auger larger than the circumference of the post profile. It is advisable to compact the top with fine gravel and sand. If the soil is not very strong, then it is better to make the hole wider and be sure to compact it.

Is it possible to attach logs to poles using bolts rather than welding?

Of course, welding is a more technologically advanced, reliable and aesthetic connection. However, some decide to use bolts due to the inability to perform welding work or the need for subsequent disassembly of the structure. Assembling a structure with bolts is more difficult and takes longer, and as a result there is a loss of quality and strength; in addition, deformation of the fence elements is possible during assembly and disassembly activities. Therefore, it is better to weld metal logs to the posts, and install a gate or gate in place of the supposed removable and collapsible part of the fence. After welding work It is necessary to beat off the slag and touch up the welding areas so that the seams do not rust over time. At the same time, it is better to fasten corrugated sheeting with self-tapping screws rather than weld it to the joists. Since during welding a part will burn protective coating, which will subsequently lead to corrosion of the corrugated sheet. Self-tapping screws will secure the sheet well to the frame and provide the necessary rigidity of the connection.

How many crossbars should there be and at what distance should they be located from the bottom and top of a corrugated fence?

If the height of the fence is no more than 2 meters, then two logs are enough. If it exceeds or you want more reliable design, then another cross member should be added in the center. The distance from the top and bottom edges of the corrugated sheet to the crossbars varies in the region of 20-40 cm.

How to beautifully make a turning corner on a fence?

Connect the two sides of the fence end-to-end on the post, and as decorative design use profile strip external corner. Or bend the corrugated sheet on the post, and continue the other side of the fence with the second sheet overlay.

How and what to make plugs for metal poles?

Most often they are cut from a metal strip or sheet. You can try to purchase ready-made plastic ones at the construction market or in a store.

Where to start installing corrugated sheets?

This The final stage construction of a fence from corrugated sheets, where it is important to do everything correctly: it is necessary to start installing corrugated sheets from the gates and gates, moving in opposite directions. If you sew it up from the corner, then the cut from the profiled sheet will end up in the most visible place - the gate with a wicket. If you have to use narrow strips of corrugated sheets in the area of the fence corners, it will not look so noticeable.
