Three-meter wooden table with your own hands. We make a beautiful and strong country table with our own hands

There is none home handyman, which would not want to collect wooden table with your own hands, and this desire does not depend on gender and age. It is important to comply with many aspects so that the result of the work is truly high-quality.

Figure 1. Diagram of a wooden table with legs in the form of crosses.

In the beginning there was a tree

Initially, the type of table is selected, and then the material with which the work will be carried out. Tables are different (Fig. 1, 2 and 3), and in each individual case different materials are used.

Chipboard is the cheapest and easiest to work with, which is why it enjoys the highest popularity. The thickness usually ranges from 1.5-3 cm, the color range is limited only by imagination, and the density depends on preference. But chipboard also has its drawbacks: low strength indicators, all colors are of artificial origin (even if desired, you cannot stylize them as original wood), as well as harmful chemical emissions from non-laminated areas.

The array, in turn, is the least popular due to its high cost. In this case, the work is quick and easy, because the cut just needs to be shaped to form a tabletop, after which you can mount it, and the shapes can be from simple to the most intricate.

Figure 2. Coffee table diagram.

Edged boards and timber are the main elements that are present in most cases as a supporting structure, but sometimes they are used as the main material, which makes the work much more difficult, but the result is much more interesting.

It is the table made of boards and timber that will be considered as an example, because By starting with the complex, you can easily learn to do the simple.

Work activity

Tools and materials:

  • jigsaw;
  • sander;
  • screwdriver;
  • roulette;
  • beam;
  • bar;
  • edged board;
  • rail;
  • steel corners;
  • furniture plugs;
  • stain and varnish;
  • flat brush.

Initially, you need to decide on the dimensions of the future table, and only after that start cutting. Let the table have a standard height of 110 cm, width of 90 cm and length of 150 cm, although any of the given data can be changed depending on your desire. And then precise definition You can start cutting:

  • timber 75*75 mm – 4 pcs. 105 cm each;
  • block 45*80 mm – 2 pcs. 75 cm and 2 pcs. 135 cm each;
  • edged board 50*150 mm – 6 pcs. 135 cm and 1 pc. 90 cm;
  • wooden slats 10*40 mm – 5 pcs. 145 and 2 pcs. 85 cm each.

After the cutting is completed, each working element must be thoroughly sanded with a grinder or sandpaper, and all remaining dust must be collected with a barely damp sponge. The top of the wood is coated with an antiseptic solution to prevent moisture and insects, and only after complete drying can work continue.

Figure 3. Assembly diagram of a round table.

To begin with, a support structure is formed from beams and beams. To connect them, you will have to round the bars at the ends by 2.5 cm, and make a round holes with a corresponding diameter to a depth of 2.5 cm. They should be joined with some force, but it is still advisable to pour wood glue inside (a few drops at the very bottom).

The tabletop is much more difficult to make, because... First, you need to cut a 90 cm board exactly in half lengthwise. Between the resulting 2 cuts, all the rest are laid alternately. The result is a tabletop that is formed, but not yet interlocked.

6 wide holes are made in the front and back boards to a depth of 2.5-3 cm, and all holes should be located exactly in the center of those boards that are on the other side. After this, full-fledged holes are made with a thin drill to the depth of the screw, and if this is not done, then it is highly likely that the wood will split.

Galvanized screws are used for coupling, because they are not subject to rust, and for wood this is very important. A strip is screwed from below onto all joints, and the fixation is made in a checkerboard pattern with a step of 20 cm for longitudinal ones, and in pairs on each board for transverse ones. Thanks to this, the countertop is no longer afraid of anything.

At the very end, all that remains is to combine the legs and tabletop into 1 structure, for which dowels and steel furniture corners are used. When making a joint on the dowels, you will again have to use glue, and then press down on the table with a load of 20-30 kg for 5-6 hours so that everything is fixed in this position. The corners, in turn, will act as a control fixation.

At the very end, plugs of the desired color are placed on the heads of all visible screws.

Shutdown and additional considerations

After you have managed to assemble the table with your own hands, you need to completely cover it with varnish and stain. What is especially important in this case is the ability to give the appearance of any breed. The varnish takes 30-36 hours to dry, so after coating you need to leave it finished work exactly at this time. Often misleading is the fact that after 4-5 hours there is no longer a smell, and fingers completely stop sticking, but at the same time harmful chemical compounds still continue to be released into the environment.

For forming holes large diameter special drill attachments and drill bits are used on drills, and they not only allow you to form inner circuit, but also cut out the outer one.

Before making a wooden table, you need to set aside 1-2 free days for the entire process, because... it would be very inappropriate to interrupt. Sometimes errors and shortcomings occur during work, but this is within normal limits, so you need to have a 10-15% supply of all materials.

Total at full hand The table is made in 1 day, after which it is dried, and you can start using it.

Of course, today everyone has the opportunity to buy any furniture in the store, including a table. But why not make it yourself, with your own hands?

It's not as difficult as it might seem at first glance. In addition, you have the opportunity to make a table that will be ideal in size and appearance for the interior of your kitchen or other room.

In addition, hand-made furniture is not only saving money, but also a reason for pride, since not every man knows how to make something these days.

What types of tables are there?

If you decide to make boards yourself, then you need to figure out what types of tables there are and decide what exactly you need.

The simplest is a regular table with four legs, a tabletop and a frame. Making it will not be difficult even for those who are not experienced in woodworking.

If you are experienced enough in this matter, you can make the dining table round or oval, decorate it with carvings, paintings, or burn designs and patterns onto the surface.

More difficult option is made of boards. In essence, this is the same ordinary table, but quite thick and long crossbars are attached to its legs, on which seat boards are laid on top. This is how we get a table with benches on both sides. Such furniture is well suited both for the kitchen and for installation in the courtyard of a private house or cottage.

If there is only free space in the room in the corner, make corner table, which will fit perfectly into this unoccupied space. It may not be as convenient to dine at it as at classic table, but you can put a TV, microwave or kettle on it - there will be enough space there.

One more interesting option can become a window sill table.

In essence, this is the same window sill, but significantly expanded and adapted, for example, for a comfortable workplace for a schoolchild.

The advantage of this solution is that the table will be well lit most day.

There is also a downside: sitting at such a table in winter, your feet will have to rest against very warm, even hot battery heating, which is not very convenient.

Materials and tools

Buying everything you need to make a table with your own hands is quite simple and will not be difficult or costly. The main material for the dining table is wood, or more precisely:

  • Boards from 25 to 50 millimeters thick, 100–150 millimeters wide, quite long.
    The thicker the material for the tabletop, frame and legs, the heavier, but at the same time the more durable they will be.
    Choose boards from good wood, without any defects.
  • Beam. It is necessary for making table legs, so choose fairly thick and strong samples. The timber can be replaced with the same boards, if you arrange them in the letter “L”, or use purchased aluminum table legs. You can also use balusters (curly carved wooden posts that support the railings on some stairs) as legs.
  • Sheets of chipboard or plywood, which can be used as countertop materials. Choose samples that are thick and strong enough to withstand daily abuse.

As with materials, And Do-it-yourself tools and fasteners are easy to obtain; most homes have them. If something is missing, you can buy it at the nearest hardware store.

  • pencil, corner, roulette and ruler;
  • jigsaw or hacksaw on wood;
  • screwdriver with a set of attachments and drill;
  • plane, if it is necessary to pre-treat the boards from unevenness and defects;
  • kit self-tapping screws, furniture bolts and nuts;
  • sandpaper or Sander;
  • varnish or stain, roller or tassel for processing the finished table.

Attention! When working with a jigsaw, always remember the safety rules and keep small children or pets away!

Simple kitchen table made of planks

First we need to make a tabletop.
There are several options here:

  • Cut out the required size piece from a sheet of chipboard or plywood using a jigsaw;
  • Lay several fairly wide boards and subsequently secure them to the frame;
  • Take a large number of relatively narrow boards, place them side up and glue them together using wood glue.
    The result is a fairly thick, heavy and durable tabletop.

Stages of work

Step 1. Assembling from boards table top.

Step 2. We make a frame from boards or their wooden bars. It can be made equal in size to the tabletop or with a slight indentation, approximately 2–2.5 centimeters on each side of the table. Having fastened the parts of the frame with screws, use them to connect the frame to the tabletop.

Step 3. After we With We put the frame and tabletop together, half of the table is already ready. All that remains is to make his legs. If you use timber for this, drill two holes in it for furniture bolts. Moreover, they can be made either on one side, one above the other, or on two different ones for more secure fastening to the frame.

Important! Carefully check the length of the table legs; they should not differ from each other. Otherwise, the table will not stand level and wobble. If you do not want it to spoil the floor material, attach rubber “boots” to the bottom of the legs.

Then make similar holes in the table frame and fasten the legs and frame with bolts and nuts. The legs can also be secured from above using screws, but over time this fastening may become loose.

If you want to make table legs from boards, fold two boards in an "L" shape on the outer or internal corner frames and secure them using the same furniture bolts or screws.

To prevent the legs from becoming loose, connect the folded boards together in the lower and middle parts using screws or nails.

That's all, simple and reliable, made by yourself, ready!

Advice: Before you start, do simple drawing, preferably from several sides. Constantly check the dimensions of the parts. Some parts of the same size can be cut out at the same time if you secure the boards or beams with clamps.

Pallet table

Wooden pallets widely used in shops and warehouses as pallets for cargo.

If you wish, you can get a few pieces for free and use them as a basis for making an original and unusual kitchen table.

If at least on one side the surface of the pallet is solid, then you no longer need to make a tabletop, it is ready.

You just need to process it and, if desired, round the corners.

Note! Since the pallets were originally intended for warehouses, no one sands and cleans them. Therefore, before making a table out of them, carefully sand them and remove all burrs. Irregularities and defects in the boards can be hidden using putty.

Stages of work

Step 1. Most pallets are open and there is quite a lot of space between the boards. distance, due to which the surface of the pallet can be used as table top not very convenient. There are two ways to solve this problem: either make boards appropriate size and secure with their screws between the pallet boards, or install a sheet on top plywood or chipboard.

Step 2. As for ordinary table, table legs from pallets can be made from timber or boards. The best thing fasten them with quite thick and strong pallet timber using nails, screws or furniture bolts.

To prevent the legs from becoming loose, connect them together with crossbars.

It is difficult to overestimate the importance of the table, both in terms of everyday comfort - and any interior design of an apartment or cottage. Moreover, a kitchen without a table loses its functionality, so a table is deservedly considered a necessary piece of furniture for this room. Huge selection various models tables that can be purchased at furniture showrooms, does not detract from the desire of some of us to make a table from boards with our own hands - in our own way own project with the personality and charm of a valuable item self made.

The prospect of making a table from boards with your own hands gives a special charm to the fact that you can choose any model, tabletop shape and size - as long as they are comfortable and suitable for the room in which the table will be installed.

A few examples below will help you make your choice and help you make the model that suits you. In addition, drawings of how to make a simple table from boards will help you more clearly imagine the future design and assembly processes.

Table 1. Sturdy and stable dining table for home

To make this table we will need tools such as a jigsaw, electric drill, screwdriver, and sander. You can, of course, do without some of the above “helpers” by using a screwdriver and a block with sandpaper attached to it - such a replacement will simply increase the time and effort spent on making the table.

The material for the manufacture of the tabletop is a tongue-and-groove board with a thickness of at least 30 mm. The tongue ensures a tight connection of the boards, increasing the service life of the table, since with this joining method the possibility of food debris getting into the gaps between the boards is practically eliminated.

To make the remaining elements of the table, take a regular 50 mm board.

  1. Boards, if they are not treated, must be thoroughly sanded - in addition to aesthetic considerations, this is required by basic safety and practicality: a sanded board is easier to paint, and much less paint is required for such a surface;
  2. Cut out the table parts:
  • Grooved boards for tabletops, length 230 cm – 6 pcs.;
  • Spacer board about 170 cm long;
  • Bars for fastening the tabletop (their length should match the width of the tabletop, or be slightly shorter) - 4 pcs.;
  • Bars for legs - 4 pcs., 2 pieces of board for their base.
  • Cover all parts with a layer of varnish and let them dry;
  • Connect the tabletop boards tightly to each other (Fig. 1);
  • Attach 4 bars across the boards with self-tapping screws, placing them evenly along the entire length of the tabletop and retreating from its end by 20-30 cm (Fig. 2);
  • To improve the appearance of the product, file the ends of the fastening bars at an angle of 45 degrees, carefully cut off the tongues of the outer boards, and slightly round the corners of the tabletop using a jigsaw.

  • Using a template and a jigsaw, give the legs the same configuration, as shown in the figure below;
  • Reliable fastening of the legs is carried out in three stages: first, we attach the legs to the outer transverse bars connecting the boards of the tabletop; then we connect the legs with the spacer beam (Fig. 3). We finally secure the legs from above, through the tabletop;
  • We place the base boards on the lower parts of the legs and securely fasten them (Fig. 4);
  • All that remains is to cover all parts of the table with another layer of varnish and let it dry thoroughly.
  • Table 2. The simplest table for a summer house or gazebo

    Perhaps there is nothing easier than making this version of a table from boards with your own hands, shown in photo 5. Table dimensions: 1200x740 mm, height - 750 mm.

    To make it you will need:

    • Edged board, smoothly planed 40x140 mm;
    • 2 bars 40x60x740 mm;
    • 8 confirmations 70-75 mm long; self-tapping screws of various lengths;
    • Chisel and plane;
    • A jigsaw, a drill with a special drill for sealing mats, a furniture key, a sander.

    The first step is to assemble the tabletop, fastening the boards with two transverse bars, placing them at a distance of 120 mm from both ends of the future tabletop and using self-tapping screws up to 80-85 mm long (so as not to reach the outer surface of the tabletop). If used regular boards, when making a countertop, it is better to leave small, only 10 mm, gaps of the same width between them: through gaps will prevent contamination of the countertop with food debris, without interfering with cleaning and without reducing its aesthetic appeal.

    To achieve equal width gaps in the tabletop, during its assembly you need to place a centimeter standard made of slats or other solid material between the boards.

    Second step: assembling the table legs. On a sheet of chipboard or plywood we draw a template - a rectangle with sides 600 mm (width) and 690 mm (length). First we make one pair of legs, then do the second in the same way: we lay 2 boards on the template in an X-shape, mark the lines of the upper and lower cuts of the legs, as well as the lines of their intersection - this is where the boards will be fastened together. We saw off the ends of the boards along the marked lines, and at the intersection points, use a chisel to select recesses 20 mm deep for a “half-tree” connection. We fasten the legs using 35 mm self-tapping screws;

    Third stepfinal assembly table. The drawing shows in detail how to make this simple table from boards: thanks to it, the assembly process will not cause difficulties (Figure 6).

    The table is an essential attribute kitchen interior. At the same time, it must not only combine style, beauty and comfort, but also be quite reliable. And what could be more reliable and durable than natural wood? The problem is that the quality wooden furniture It’s not cheap, so not everyone can buy it for their kitchen. However, do not despair, because making a wooden table with your own hands is a completely doable task for a person who is able to distinguish a screw from a nail and knows how to use a drill, jigsaw and sanding machine.

    The choice of kitchen table design depends on several factors, such as the size of the kitchen, the number of occupants and interior design. If you look at the options offered by furniture manufacturers, among the variety of designs we can distinguish three categories:

    • medium sized tables for 4-6 people;
    • dimensional tables for big family or receiving guests;
    • practical folding tables for small kitchens.

    A table in the kitchen should combine three qualities: aesthetics, convenience and practicality.

    To do kitchen table with your own hands, you need to have a drawing of the product at hand, necessary set tools and at least some woodworking skills. Below are design options for standard, large and small kitchens with photo instructions and detailed description each stage of making a wooden table.

    Rectangular dining table on balusters

    Rectangular design with standard size 1200x600mm is considered the most popular due to its practicality. This table can comfortably accommodate a family of 4 people. In addition, it can be installed either in the center of the kitchen (if space allows) or placed close to the wall in order to save free space.

    Schematic drawing

    In order to make the wooden table more attractive, we will use balusters instead of straight legs. If you don't have it at hand lathe, then such legs can be ordered separately at the nearest furniture workshop.

    For your information! Balusters are shaped pillars that are primarily found on the railings of stairs, balconies and roofs. However, the use of these elements in the manufacture of kitchen tables is also far from uncommon.

    Drawing rectangular table on balusters

    To assemble the product you will need following materials and tools:

    • 4 ready-made baluster legs 720 mm high;
    • furniture board 30 mm thick for table top;
    • board 20x100mm for the frame;
    • wood screws about 30 mm long;
    • drill (screwdriver);
    • a circular saw;
    • sander;
    • sandpaper of different grain sizes;
    • building level;
    • square;
    • roulette;
    • wood glue

    Step-by-step assembly instructions

    A kitchen table made of wood on balusters is made with your own hands in the following sequence:

    1. We prepare the cross members of the frame. To do this, we cut a 100 mm board into 4 parts (2 x 400 mm, 2 x 1000 mm), after which we remove the burrs and bring the surface to a smooth state using sandpaper or a sanding machine.

    1. We take the balusters and connect them in pairs with short crossbars (400 mm), making a small indent from the edge of the leg (about 15 mm). Fastening is carried out using glue and screws, which are twisted at an angle with inside boards.

    Advice! To prevent cracks from appearing, it is better to pre-make holes for the screws.

    Attaching short crossbars to legs

    1. We connect the finished pairs of legs with long crossbars (1000 mm). The fastening algorithm is the same as in the previous stage.

    The final stage of installing the table frame

    1. After we have made the frame of the wooden table with our own hands, we move on to the tabletop. If it comes to the kitchen, then it is better to purchase a ready-made furniture panel. Although for a gazebo or cottage, where the requirements for the appearance of the tabletop are not so stringent, it can be assembled from tongue-and-groove boards.

    Furniture panel for table top

    1. The finished tabletop must be connected to the frame. To do this, lay it face down on a flat and clean surface, and evenly place the base with legs on top. The crossbars are fastened to the tabletop using screws according to the same principle as described in paragraph 2. However, in this case you need to be extremely careful not to drill through the countertop.

    1. At this point, making a kitchen table with your own hands can be considered almost complete. Final stage characterized by the process of grinding the surface, as well as applying stain or varnish, the color of which is selected to match the interior of the kitchen.

    Note! The number of layers of varnish depends on the type of wood. Hardwoods, such as oak or hornbeam, do not absorb varnish very well, so in this case 1-2 layers are sufficient. But for pine or spruce you will need at least 3 layers of coating.

    Dinner table made of wood on balusters

    Wooden table for a large family

    A large table, at which you can dine with a large family or arrange a feast by inviting friends, must have reliable design. The usual four legs are usually not enough to support a heavy tabletop. Therefore, additional measures have to be taken to strengthen the frame.

    Product design

    In this example, we’ll look at how to make a large wooden table for the kitchen with your own hands, measuring 2337x978 mm (of course, minor deviations in one direction or another are allowed).

    Drawing of a large wooden table

    Before starting work, you should prepare lumber for:

    You will also need the following tools:

    • a circular saw;
    • jigsaw;
    • drill;
    • screws (4x65 mm);
    • drills (3 mm);
    • furniture glue;
    • pencil, tape measure, sandpaper.

    Manufacturing stages

    To make the table reliable and attractive appearance, you need to approach each stage responsibly. So let's get started:

    1. Using purchased lumber, we make parts for the future wooden table with our own hands:
    • 2 upper cross beams (38x90x978 mm);
    • 4 legs (38x90x695 mm);
    • 2 bowstrings (38x90x921 mm);
    • 1 longitudinal lower beam (38x90x1575 mm);
    • 1 longitudinal top beam (38x90x1473 mm);
    • 2 braces (38x90x772 mm);
    • 7 blanks for the tabletop (38x90x2337);
    • 6 support strips (19x64x432 mm).

    We carefully grind all parts, achieving an absolutely smooth surface without burrs.

    Important! Sanding quality wooden surface depends on the correct grit size of the sandpaper. For primary grinding, the grain size should not be larger than 200 microns. Final processing is carried out with finer-grained sandpaper - 80-100 microns for soft wood and 50-63 microns for hard wood.

    1. We fasten the legs together in pairs using transverse beams (above) and bowstrings (below). We use two screws for each connection.

    1. Using a longitudinal lower beam, we connect two strings together.

    Attaching the lower cross beam

    1. We strengthen the structure using the upper transverse beam.

    Advice! In order for the beam to reliably connect the two halves, in addition to screws, additional wooden dowels with a diameter of 10 mm should be used.

    1. We cut the ends of the blanks for the braces at an angle of 45 degrees. After this, we attach both braces to the upper and lower transverse beams.

    Attaching the upper cross beam

    1. We connect the wooden boards intended for the tabletop to the transverse beams on the inside of the structure.

    1. Additionally, we strengthen the tabletop with support strips. Make sure that they do not extend beyond the dimensions of the table.

    Strengthening the structure with supporting strips

    1. If desired, you can make semicircular corners in your wooden kitchen table, which will give the product a more elegant look.

    Such option will do both for a large kitchen or dining room, and for a summer house

    Folding wooden table for a small kitchen

    If there is not enough space in the kitchen to place a large or medium-sized table, then you should look for a more original approach. One such solution is a folding table, which is attached to the wall and can be easily removed, freeing up occupied space.

    Materials and tools

    To make a folding wooden table for the kitchen with your own hands, you will need the following:

    • furniture board 30 mm thick;
    • wooden beam 20x60 mm;
    • loops (6 pcs.);
    • corner lamella (2 pcs.);
    • wooden dowels;
    • dowels;
    • screws;
    • drill;
    • jigsaw;
    • sanding machine or sandpaper;
    • glue;

    Assembly: step by step

    Advice! Before you begin, decide on the location where the table will be installed. Since the structure is attached to the wall, it is very important to take into account all the features of the future kitchen interior, so that you do not have to rearrange it later, leaving unsightly dowel holes in a visible place.

    Steps to assemble a kitchen table with your own hands:

    1. We prepare the parts for the folding legs. To do this, we cut the wooden beam into 8 parts: 4 720 mm long, 4 320 mm long. We sand each element, removing burrs.

    1. We assemble two rectangular frames. The slats are connected to each other via furniture dowels, for which it is first necessary to drill blind holes with a diameter of 8 mm.

    1. We connect the finished frames with hinges. In addition, it is also necessary to attach a narrow strip to one frame using hinges, which will be attached to the wall.

    1. We fix the frame to the wall using dowels, after which we install corner slats on the sides. It is important to arrange the slats in such a way that they do not interfere with the folding of the legs.

    Advice! Instead of corner slats, you can use any furniture corners of the appropriate size, matched to the color of the table.

    Fastening the structure to the wall

    1. From wooden shield cut out a tabletop measuring 900x600 mm. For a more impressive look, the corners can be rounded. After this, all ends should be sanded using a machine.
    1. We “separate” a piece 250 mm long from the tabletop, which will be attached to wall structure. The two parts are connected to each other by means of hinges.

    1. We install the 250 mm part on the corner slats and connect the elements with screws.

    The final stage of installing a folding table in the kitchen with your own hands

    1. You can refine the table at your discretion by applying stain, varnish or paint. But even in its original form, such a product looks very good.

    Wooden folding table – original solution for a small kitchen

    On the Internet you can find a lot of options on how to make a wooden table with your own hands. We looked at three of the most simple solutions for standard, large and small-sized kitchens, the production of which is quite economical and does not require specialized machines and extensive experience in working with wood. For making more complex structures We recommend that you seek help from specialists.

    Finally, watch a video that shows how to make old wooden planks You can make a pretty decent kitchen table.

    Video: DIY wooden table

    On summer cottage or in the courtyard of a private house is simply necessary big table. In the summer, you can sit at it with your family or surrounded by friends, enjoying the coolness of the evening. Buying a ready-made table in order to install it in the yard is not an option, since such a product will quickly become unusable from the rain. All that remains is to do it yourself.

    Make a table out of logs with your own hands, and this design will last for many years. You can also use boards. Both options will be discussed below. The manufacturing scheme is quite simple, and anyone who knows how to hold a plane and hammer nails can make such furniture.

    Making a table from a log with your own hands

    For this you will need:

    • logs without bark;
    • beam;
    • planer and jointer;
    • hammer and nails;
    • shovel;
    • bitumen, drying oil and oil paint.

    You need to choose smooth logs with minimum quantity knots. If you can use a sawmill, you can cut them lengthwise.

    If this is not possible, then half the log simply needs to be planed. Of course, there will be a lot of waste, but one part should be even. You need to go over the surface with a jointer to make it as smooth as possible.

    The logs need to be placed side by side and connected to each other with a beam from the bottom side. You will get a table top. The timber is nailed across the logs, along the edges of the tabletop and in the middle. It is necessary to nail it from the bottom side, from the side of the timber, selecting such a length of nails that they do not pass through the tabletop. Here you go, top part The table is ready, all that remains is to install it in the yard.

    To do this, 4 logs are dug into the ground to a depth of at least half a meter. It is recommended to coat the ends of the logs that will be in the ground with bitumen to protect the tree from rotting. After the pillars are dug in, the tabletop is installed on them and nailed into place. The nail heads should be sunk into the wood.

    But this is far from the only option. For example, instead of logs for the tabletop, you can use boards, and when making legs, use scraps of logs, fastening them together.

    How to make a table from boards with your own hands?

    This product is lighter and can be made portable, unlike the previous design.

    For production, well-planed boards are taken and knocked together into a tabletop. You can use good quality floorboards.

    Tongue-groove connections allow you to make the most smooth surface, which will make such furniture even more attractive.

    First, a rectangular or square frame is knocked out of timber onto which the boards will be laid. If there is no experience and there is no opportunity to do tenon joints, you can use metal corners. Boards are placed on the frame. If the boards are ordinary, then nails need to be nailed from below, making sure that they do not go through the tabletop.

    If floorboards are used, then it will be more convenient to drive the nails from above, since it is necessary for the ridge to fit into the groove. The boards are pressed against each other and the nails are driven in at an angle, further pressing them. If everything is done correctly, you will get a smooth table surface, without cracks. If the nails are driven from above, then their heads should be recessed into the wood, and the holes should be filled with putty before painting.

    Now all that remains is to secure the legs - and the product is ready. The legs are made of wooden blocks, which are attached to the frame using metal corners. Such a table made of boards has much less weight than one made of logs. It can be moved from place to place, installed around summer kitchen or in a garden gazebo.

    For such tables, you can make benches or stools with your own hands that will match the design.

    There are many options for making this garden furniture. Each craftsman uses his imagination to make his creation look original and at the same time comfortable.
