Magic ball crafts. DIY snow globe

Snowball - one of the most popular Christmas souvenirs around the world. Inside the glass toy there are usually some figures - snowmen, small Christmas trees, elegant houses or other traditional characters. As soon as you shake this simple composition, a fairy tale comes to life: artificial snow or sparkles slowly swirl and gradually settle. like this interesting craft and a memorable gift can easily be made with your own hands and at home.

How to make a snow globe?

To snowball It was bright, add sparkles, but not too small. If you are not sure about the quality of the sparkles, which may contain gold dust instead of small grains, then you can use regular tinsel, which is finely cut with ordinary scissors. You can also use artificial snow or beads.

You will also need:

  • figurine (any suitable size and that does not dissolve in water, you can even a laminated photograph or picture),
  • a beautiful jar with a well-closing lid (I used a half-liter, but you can even use jars from under baby food, the main thing is to find a figurine that is suitable in size),
  • universal glue moment,
  • liquid glycerin at least 1/3 of the volume of the jar (the amount also depends on how slowly you want the “snow” to fall; the more glycerin, the slower. The main thing is not to overdo it, otherwise the “snow” will hang in the air all the time ),
  • water (either filtered, boiled, or distilled. If you take plain water from the tap, then over time your snow globe will become cloudy),
  • glue gun

If you are decorating a jar or making a decorative stand, like me, additionally prepare:

  • satin ribbons, decorative twigs, flowers, etc. for decorating a jar,
  • cardboard (but not hard),
  • scotch,
  • scissors,
  • self-adhesive film – gold,
  • PVA glue,
  • dry glitter - gold,
  • thin brush,
  • Well, and, already listed, a hot glue gun.

So let's get started!

Wash the jar, lid, figurine and all additional decorations well so that the water does not become cloudy over time. I treated everything with boiling water, as for preservation.

We fasten everything decorative elements to the lid with hot glue.

I have already used tinsel, sparkles and beads to imitate snow.

I'll tell you how to make a snow globe with sparkles, as there are some subtleties here. There are no such problems with tinsel and beads.

We take a clean jar, in my case a half-liter, and fill it with 150-250 ml of glycerin.

Fill the rest with water (we don’t fill the jar to the brim, because we still have a figurine that will fit in there, which will displace a certain amount of water).

Add glitter and mix with a clean spoon.

Even if the glitter is large, there are particles that did not settle to the bottom of the jar. We must definitely collect them, otherwise they will subsequently always float on top, and this, frankly speaking, does not look very good. This can be done with a small spoon or the tip of a clean waffle towel.

Now, very carefully, preferably over a plate, we immerse our composition in the jar, twist it a little so that there are no air bubbles anywhere. Screw the lid tightly. You need to try to close it so that there are no air bubbles left in the jar. Since we didn’t glue the lid inside, it can be remade if necessary.

When the cover is screwed on, you can walk along the joint from above for insurance. universal glue(if there is one, it can be waterproof). There have never been any problems with such jars, so the glue, in principle, only serves to secure the lid so that no one accidentally opens it.

Our snow globe is ready! Let's decorate it a little to hide all traces of the lid and jar.

You can make a durable stand from several strips of cardboard and cover it with gold self-adhesive film. The diameter is equal to the diameter of the cap. We decorate with all kinds of ribbons, twigs, it all depends on your desire and imagination!

I added a little sparkle curls and used them to hide the carvings on the bottom of the jar and all sorts of unnecessary numbers. To do this, dilute 1:1 water and PVA glue, generously add dry glitter to this mixture. I painted the curls with a regular thin brush.

And here's what I got!

And with flying sparkles...

This magical gift is sure to please both children and adults. Everyone will be mesmerized by the magic hidden behind the glass. Give each other joy and these wonderful snow globes, made by yourself, in which a piece of your soul and warmth is embedded!

I was glad to help!

Limitless imagination for realizing creative ideas and creating something unique New Year's interior. The list of original crafts also includes an unusual jar of snow – it’s not at all difficult to make with your own hands. A snow ball, in which snowflakes swirl and whimsical New Year figures float when shaken, is a distant childhood memory for almost everyone.

Master class for creating a winter-themed phantasmagoria with your own hands in an ordinary glass jar is incredibly simple. Shall we try?

Decoration materials

To create a New Year's jar with snow, we will need a tall and straight glass container with a screw-on iron lid with a volume of about 1 liter, loose foam or artificial snow, minifigures that will live in the jar with snow. Our decor includes a green Christmas tree and a funny snowman with a sleigh.

To create a unique New Year's decor The choice of miniature toys is quite wide. The main thing is that it fits in the jar. Santa Claus and deer, a Christmas tree, the Snow Maiden, gnomes, forest animals in the snow, in a word, everything that is somehow connected with the New Year and Christmas holidays.

It’s worth thinking about a platform stand for figures in a jar of snow. This can be a hand-made pedestal made from a piece of wood, polystyrene foam or cardboard. White cotton or wool balls will come in handy small size. You can make them yourself or buy them at a craft store. You will also need a needle, fishing line, glue/tape.

Step-by-step algorithm of work

A stylized New Year's jar in a festive interior will be an excellent decoration for any room: living room, kitchen, children's room. Considering that you will make this miracle with your own hands, a festive atmosphere will appear in the house during the creative process.

  1. We thread the fishing line through a needle and string cotton or wool balls onto the fishing line. To secure them, use a drop of glue or a drop of nail polish (colorless) on one side of the middle of the ball.
  2. We attach a platform for a mini-toy to the bottom of the jar. Glue and double-sided tape will help with this.
  3. We place miniature figures on the bottom of the jar, while there is still no snow, and attach them so that they do not dangle when the jar moves.
  4. Sprinkle the glass bottom of the jar with artificial snow or loose foam so as to completely cover the “podium”. By the way, artificial snow for a jar is quite easy to make with your own hands. There are many on the Internet original recipes its manufacture.
  5. The crucial moment is “snow” in the bank. We attach the improvised garland using hot glue or tape to the screw-on lid. Eight to ten “cotton-snow” threads of different lengths - best option for New Year's decor of our magic jar.
  6. The final touch is to close the container with a lid with attached garlands and screw it on. The jar of snow is ready!

Imagination will suggest decor for winter, Easter, autumn jars in which you can use natural materials and a creative set of do-it-yourself figurines, toys, and accessories.

The shape of the can itself may also be interesting. The more unusual the glass container, the more intricate the painting inside can be. And a reason to create and use “can” decor with your own hands can arise at any moment.

There's a lot ahead holidays, and I want to somehow surprise my loved ones with unusual gifts. Let's look at how to make a snow globe with your own hands at home.

With your own hands, if you really want to, you can make a beautiful and stylish New Year’s snow globe from a jar with your own hands. In this material we will present several master classes after which there will be no more questions about how to make a snow globe without glycerin with your own hands or using glycerin.

Separately, I would like to emphasize the fact that many people think that making a ball with snow inside with their own hands is difficult. In fact, not only are there no difficulties, but the whole craft process is quite simple and understandable. The presence of glycerin in the starting components should not confuse you. This substance can be bought at any pharmacy without a prescription for pennies; working with this substance is not difficult.

Simple and easy

To create such a ball, you will need a jar with a well-tightening lid, that is, the vessel must ultimately be airtight after closing and not lose this airtightness during use. Additionally, to protect against leakage, it is recommended to glue the threads of the finished craft.

You can use them as decorations inside the jar. Christmas decorations, figures of Santa Claus, Snow Maiden or angel. Houses and trees look especially beautiful with falling snow. The glue needs to be waterproof, they will need to glue the selected figures to the lid of the jar.

As for snow, without which it is impossible to imagine a DIY New Year's ball from a jar, to imitate it you can simply take artificial snow, glitter or even crushed white plastic. Glycerin is needed in this craft so that the snow falls slowly and does not fall all at once. The more glycerin is diluted in water, the higher the viscosity of the water will be and the snow, accordingly, will fall more slowly.

Advice! If the snowflakes in your craft are large, then you need to take a large number of glycerin. For a 400 ml jar, 100 ml of glycerin will be enough. But it is recommended to add glycerin slowly and each time check how much this amount of this substance changes exactly the speed at which your snow falls.

As for water for crafts, it is best to use distilled water if the ball is being made as a gift or if you plan to store it for a long time. Otherwise, tap water will simply do, the main thing is that there is no excess sediment in it (for this, let the water stand additionally). It is recommended to carry out the work wearing disposable gloves.

We will talk about how to make a snow globe, the specific assembly process and step-by-step photos later in this material. You need to set aside about an hour for work, and try to do everything according to the instructions so that the craft turns out beautiful the first time.

I propose to make a version of a snow globe, which you have probably seen on store shelves.
A small round glass jar (100-300 ml) is well suited for such a ball. Depending on what holiday you have ahead, you can select small figurines or figurines. Egg figurines look good in Kinders. My daughter always selects figures that are repeated for this purpose. And you can make it yourself especially for the New Year.

An integral part of this craft is glycerin; it will help hold small sparkles in the water. You can buy glycerin at the pharmacy.

Well, and, of course, this work requires a lot of different sparkles or glitter.
Save some time, call your kids and start collecting all the elements to make a snow globe.

What is the “Angel” snow globe made of:

- water;
- glycerin;
- glass jar with a lid;
- glass pebbles for decoration;
- figurine;
- acrylic paint;
- sparkles;
- cosmetic glitter;
- glue gun.

How to make a snow globe from a jar

When choosing a figurine for a jar, take one so that it is clearly visible and occupies at least half of the future ball. In my case, this is an angel, well suited for a gift to a loved one.

When making a snow globe from a jar with your own hands, be sure to use clean water, passed through a filter, mix it with glycerin (the proportion of water to glycerin will be 2:1).
Combine water with glycerin in a container, stir well.

The lid of the jar can be painted with a brush smeared with acrylic paint if its color does not suit you. Take only acrylic paint, it dries quickly and smears your hands. To make the figurine a little taller, you can glue glass pebbles or something else to the lid to help elevate it.

Glue the angel figurine onto the pebbles using a glue gun or other strong glue after drying.

Pour various sparkles and glitter into a clean jar; you can also use very small beads.

Pour the liquid into the jar almost to the top, stir the glitter.

Now take the next step responsibly. Coat the neck of the jar with glue and screw the lid tightly.

Let the glue dry well for 15-25 minutes, and you can chicken out and turn over your snow globe from the Angel jar. You can also decorate the lid, paint it and glue on a beautiful fabric.

And together with your children you can do

Getting closer New Year, and more and more I want magic, snowflakes swirling in the golden light of lanterns, a festive atmosphere... In the meantime, there is still a long time before the holiday, we ourselves can make a small miracle - a snow globe with our own hands. This magical gift will definitely appeal to adults, and the baby will be enchanted by the magic hidden behind the glass.

How to make a snow globe? When you look at the magical whirling snowflakes above a small, like a gingerbread house or a toy snowman, it seems that you cannot repeat such a miracle yourself. But we assure you - if you follow simple instructions, you will succeed!

What do we need to create a ball?

  • a small glass jar with a fairly tight-fitting lid (volume - no more than 1 liter);
  • a small figurine that will need to be placed inside the ball - a house with glowing windows, Santa Claus or a snow-covered tree - anything that will help create a New Year's mood;
  • waterproof glue (it will be more convenient to use a glue gun);
  • distilled water;
  • glitter (you can use artificial snow);
  • glycerin (sold at any pharmacy);
  • if you want to create an imitation of snowdrifts in a ball, you can use self-hardening plastic for this purpose.

Snow globe making process:

The most convenient way to start creating a snow globe with your own hands is by gluing the toy to the lid of the jar. If you use metal figures, it is better to first treat them with an anti-corrosion agent. Beautifully combine them into a single composition (for this it will be more convenient to use a gun with super glue), you can make snowdrifts from plastic with your own hands - in general, show your imagination and create a truly magical New Year's composition! In this case, you will need to let the plastic dry completely before placing the lid in the jar.

Then wash the jar clean, pour water into it and add glycerin. There should be a little less of it than water; the more of it, the slower the sparkles or snow will fall on our figures. If you're unsure about the dosage, throw a few sparkles into the water and see how fast they go down. Too fast - add to solution glycerin, slowly -water .

Add half a teaspoon of glitter or artificial snow. By the way, it’s very simple to make it yourself: just peel off the film eggshells and grind it in a mortar.

When the glue on which the toys are placed has dried, close the lid of the jar tightly (very tightly!). Tip: over time, water may begin to leak from the ball, and to prevent this from happening, the lid and threads of the jar along the edge can be well coated with glue.

To complete the composition, decorate the resulting snow globe along the edge of the lid with decorative braid or ribbon. Small New Year's miracle ready!

...and also a gift for a loved one!

If you want to do more than just Christmas decoration, and we offer a gift that will be intended only for one person and can show your love for him great idea– a ball with a photo! It is done in exactly the same way as we just described, only inside you will need to place a pre-laminated photograph of the person to whom the gift is intended. Well, or yours together, looking at which on long winter evenings, he will remember you with warmth and joy :)

The whole family can make crafts on New Year and winter themes. This activity is exciting and will greatly unite the household. It’s frosty outside and the wind is shaking the trees, it’s cold and dark, and you’ve all gathered together at one table to create a small family masterpiece: magic jar with snow. In the warmth and comfort there is always something to talk about, both small and large. And you are also busy with useful work, the result of your efforts will only be a small miracle of yours. You can even feel like a wizard. A New Year's item will decorate the apartment and always remind you to get together like this more often. And, of course, all relatives will appreciate a family gift, because handmade things contain a piece of the soul.

What you will need for work:

A small jar with a screw cap.
A decorative plastic element such as a Christmas tree, a snowman, or any other product of a suitable theme.
Glycerol.
Glitter.
Tinsel.
Scissors.
Hot glue gun.

  • First of all, clear the jar of stickers and fill it exactly halfway with water.
  • Fill the remaining space of the jar with glycerin. We pour it heaped, so to speak.
  • Glue the product you have chosen to the lid of the jar; for example, let’s look at the Christmas tree. It is best to degrease the surfaces to be glued and make cuts for better adhesion. You can use other waterproof glue in your work.

  • Add glitter and small tinsel to water with glycerin. Close the jar tightly. If there are air bubbles, add water or glycerin. The lid must fit tightly to the jar. To be sure, you can put it on glue.

Now all that's left is to try it out. Turn over and shake your jar of snow and enjoy the “Winter Magic” made by your own hands.
