How to assemble horizontal blinds. Do-it-yourself installation of blinds on plastic windows

Blinds perform not only protective, but also aesthetic functions. They are often used as a replacement for regular massive curtains. The design is represented by a device that has a cornice and a control mechanism for the slats, as well as connecting elements.

Types of blinds

The market is crowded with all kinds of products, their design depends on the location of the lamellas, and the price also depends on their variety. Let's look at what types you can find.

1. Horizontal

This type is considered the most common; the slats are located parallel to the floor.

A variety of materials are used for their manufacture:

  1. Aluminum. Such products have a long service life. They may be in different color scheme. Their slats are rigid and can withstand any temperature change. They don't require additional care, just wash them with a damp cloth and detergent.
  2. Wood. This type can also be called “Venetian”. They do not differ in special technological properties; bamboo is used for their production. Have spectacular appearance, but at the same time their price is high.
  3. Faux wood. This material is an alternative replacement natural wood, accordingly, their price is lower. These blinds are most often used in rooms with high humidity.
  4. Fabric. Natural and synthetic fabrics are used to make blinds.
  5. Plastic. Very practical, the slats are rigid and can withstand any temperature change. It is advisable to install them in contaminated areas. The choice is huge, presented in various colors and invoices.

2. Vertical

Here the lamellas are located vertically to the floor, their stability is achieved due to weight, if they are plastic or aluminum structures. For the manufacture of vertical products, plastic, aluminum, fabric, and wood are used.

Pros:

  1. Dust is removed from them well. This can be done with a vacuum cleaner, brush or damp cloth.
  2. Damaged lamellas can be replaced with others.
  3. Such products darken rooms well, while Fresh air arrives without obstacles
  4. Can be combined with tulle.
  5. You can always replace them with others without replacing the cornice.

Minuses:

  1. If you open a window, you have to pull the entire curtain to the side.
  2. Not suitable for all windows. In particular, not for those where the sashes on the opening window are less than 3 centimeters. In this case, it will be impossible to open it.

3. Pleated

By their design, pleated blinds resemble an accordion; they are raised using an electric drive or a spring mechanism. Can be installed on any type of window.

4. Rolled

Such structures are also called, and are used for their manufacture. various fabrics having different density, color, texture. In order for them to have antistatic, dust-repellent and antibacterial properties, they are impregnated with a special substance.

Advantages:

  1. There is a large selection of colors, and any design can be drawn on the canvas.
  2. Variety of fabrics. Cotton, silk, linen, and polyester are suitable for their manufacture.
  3. They come with anti-glare properties.
  4. Such products are harmoniously combined with tulle, you just need to choose the right colors.
  5. They take up little space due to their compactness.
  6. Easy to care for, clean with a damp cloth. And stains can be washed off with soapy water.

Flaws: can absorb unpleasant odors, and cannot be washed.

Choice of blinds

When choosing blinds you should take into account:

  1. Their functionality. Will there be any light coming in or should it be blocked out completely?
  2. Combination with furniture.
  3. Size.
  4. Mounting method.

You can take measurements yourself, but you must maintain accuracy and precision:

  1. For good result it is necessary to use a tape measure without any rounding. Here it is necessary to maintain accuracy down to the millimeter.
  2. Parameters (width and length) are measured at the top, middle and bottom of the window.

When ordering products, you need to take into account the method in which they will be installed: on the sash, in the opening and on the wall:

  1. In the first option, you should measure the distance between the window beads where the blinds will be attached.
  2. If the fastening will be carried out in the opening, then measurements are taken window opening V three points in height and width. A similar procedure is needed for insurance, since the openings have irregularities. The smaller number is selected from the results obtained.
  3. In the third case, the width of the product should be no less than the width of the opening by 10 cm. The length should accordingly be greater than the window opening, since the curtain rod of the blinds will be fixed there.

Installation of horizontal blinds

This type of blinds can be attached to the ceiling, to the wall and into the opening.

First you need to do:

  1. Determining the height and width of the product based on the size of the window opening. If they are installed in an opening, it is recommended to subtract one and a half centimeters from the width of the product.
  2. The location where the control will be located (right or left) is determined.
  3. The type of fastening is taken into account.

Depending on the design of the product, they are used different types fastenings

Bracket mounting

  1. Taking into account the dimensions of the device, the places where the brackets will be installed are marked. The distance between them should be 55-60 centimeters. Avoid getting the brackets into the control mechanism, clamps and calipers.
  2. The brackets are attached to the ceiling, wall or window sash.
  3. Turn the bracket latches counterclockwise until they stop completely.
  4. The upper cornice of the product is inserted into the bracket, after which the latch is turned clockwise until it stops.

Drilling installation:

  1. On top part Brackets are installed on the doors, and plastic corners are attached to the bottom.
  2. Along the edges of the upper cornice, cables are secured in special bushings.
  3. The cornice is fixed to brackets.
  4. A cable is threaded along the edges of the lamellas through special holes.
  5. A second pair of bushings is installed in the lower brackets, through which the cable is threaded and secured with a screw.
  6. The mechanism is secured with a hook on the handle.
  7. The handle holder should be directed towards the sash.
  8. After installation is completed, you should make sure that the structure is working.

Installation of the structure without drilling using overhead brackets:

  1. Places for installation of brackets are marked.
  2. The brackets are secured with a screw.
  3. The structure is installed on the top of the sash and then secured with a key.
  4. Drop-in bottom brackets are attached to the bottom of the sash.
  5. The cables are secured in the bushings.
  6. The cornice is fixed to the brackets, after which the cable is threaded.
  7. Plastic bushings are directed into holes located on the bottom bracket.
  8. Use a screw to secure the cable in the bushing.
  9. The handle hook is attached to the control mechanism, after which the handle holder is installed.
  10. Finally, you need to check the operation of the structure.

Installation of vertical blinds

The first step will be to take measurements, while vertical blinds have no special claims for their measurement. Here, more attention is paid to where they will be located.

This type of curtain is attached in three ways:

  1. To the ceiling, to perform the function of regular curtains.
  2. Above the window opening, which will allow you to completely close the window, preventing sunlight from entering.
  3. At the top of the window slope, the sun's rays will partially penetrate into the room.

Assembly of vertical blinds

Before installing the structure, it must be assembled in advance.

The process is simple, but requires special care:

  1. First you need to assemble all the runners together, so that their recesses are turned towards the master.
  2. You need to insert the lamellas into the runners and fasten them tightly. A click will indicate that the connection is secure.
  3. Special weights are installed on the lower part of the lamellas.
  4. The chain must be attached to each element that is suspended.
  5. After the functionality has been checked, the structure can be installed.

Installation. The installation process is carried out using screws that must be screwed into the holes (they are located in the middle of the cornice).

  1. Having attached the cornice, you need to mark the holes.
  2. In these places, you need to use a hammer drill to make spaces for dowels.
  3. The last step will be to install the cornice and secure it with screws.

Installation of roller blinds

Such designs are particularly practical and functional. Their advantage over others is their compactness and ease of installation. When measuring such curtains, you should take into account the height and width of the beads. Since these blinds are attached with double-sided tape, the surface must be prepared correctly.

Installation:

  1. Before installation begins, the glazing beads should be degreased. Alcohol may be suitable for this.
  2. The roller guides should be carefully attached to the tape.
  3. Double-sided tape is used to secure the cassette box.
  4. The next step is to install the roll over the window sashes, after which they are leveled.
  5. Next, lower the curtain so that it fits into the guide grooves.
  6. The box is pressed very tightly against the wall.
  7. The final step will be to adjust the length of the chain, which is used to lower the curtains.
  1. In order to avoid any problems with blinds, you should give preference to trusted manufacturers with a good reputation.
  2. Before ordering or buying blinds, you must take all measurements correctly and competently, taking into account the unevenness of the slopes.
  3. If you are installing on plastic windows, then you should remember that if the work is performed incorrectly, you can damage the fasteners of the blinds or the window itself.
  4. Having installed horizontal products, their bottom should be fixed.

How to attach blinds to plastic windows, with screws and tape

Hello. This time you will learn how to attach blinds to plastic windows. The topic of the article is interesting because plastic or aluminum blinds Less practical fabric curtains are being replaced everywhere. Therefore, if you decide to make the windows in your apartment more modern and easier to use, the following photo reports on the completed installation are exactly what you need.

Current fastening methods

Attaching blinds to a plastic window is done in two ways:

  • Using self-tapping screws - the PVC profile will be drilled, and therefore when dismantling the blinds there will be holes that will not be easy to cover;
  • Without the use of self-tapping screws, the PVC profile will be intact and this is good, but the structure installed on top of the profile will be held less firmly in comparison with analogues fixed on self-tapping screws.

I don’t know which horizontal blinds you chose, and therefore I’ll tell you about the installation of each of the listed varieties separately and in detail.

Installation using self-tapping screws

The blinds package includes the following:

  • The main structure is made of 2 lamellas. (one for each leaf);
  • Fastening elements for the upper part, 2 pieces per sash;
  • Fastening elements for the lower part, 2 pieces per sash;
  • Self-tapping screws 20 mm long, 4 pcs. for each sash.

DIY installation instructions are as follows:

  • Unpack the blinds and unwind the adjustment cord;

  • Remove the adjusting bar (cane);

  • We attach the upper fastening elements to the upper profile of the device so that the fastenings do not interfere with the operation of the mechanisms located inside the profile;

  • Next, we open the slats so that they take the position characteristic of open blinds;
  • We apply the upper profile to the window so that the lower strip is located just below the bead on the frame, that is, so that the glass is completely covered;

  • Mark the location of the fasteners on the window frame;

When making markings, I recommend using a spirit level so that the top bar is located exactly horizontally and does not have any distortions. If the window was initially installed skewed, we make markings not according to the spirit level, but taking into account the location of the sashes.

  • Using pre-made markings, we install the fastenings with self-tapping screws;

Surface PVC profile smooth, and therefore it will most likely not be easy to tighten the self-tapping screw according to the mark. Therefore, before screwing in the screw, we drill holes in the profile with a diameter of 2 mm, which is 1 mm less than the diameter of the screws. It will be easy to screw in the screws using the pre-made holes.

  • After the fasteners are installed, apply the top bar to them and click it in with a little force;

  • WITH outside We finally fix the structure with plugs, which are placed on the holders until a characteristic click appears;
  • We lower the blinds so that the lower slats are in the lowest position;
  • We make markings for the lower fasteners so that they are located at the level of the ends of the lower bar;

  • We install fastenings on self-tapping screws;
  • We snap the bottom bar into the fastenings;
  • We install the adjustment bar on the original mount;

  • Checking functionality installed blinds, opening and closing the gap between the slats.

Operation and Maintenance

So we found out how to attach blinds to plastic windows with self-tapping screws. Among the recommendations for use and maintenance installed structures I note the following:

  • We rotate the adjustment bar around its axis smoothly since the hook with which it is attached to the mechanism is quite fragile;
  • In order to wash the window, we snap off the lower lamella and assemble the blinds upward; this is enough to wipe the entire glass;
  • I recommend removing dust from the slats with a peacock broom;
  • I recommend that immediately after the dust has been removed, apply an antistatic aerosol, any one of your choice, to the slats.

Installation without using self-tapping screws

Now I'll tell you how to attach plastic blinds on modern double-glazed windows without the use of screws.

In what cases can fastening without drilling be relevant? There are many such cases, for example, the use of rented housing, where, according to the terms of the contract, elements of the surroundings cannot be damaged.

For execution installation work you will need a set of regular horizontal blinds with light plastic slats, double-sided tape and regular scissors.

The instructions for attaching blinds to plastic windows without using self-tapping screws are as follows:

  • Unpack the set of blinds;
  • We disconnect the adjustment bar from the main unit so that it does not subsequently interfere with the installation;
  • We lay the main block with the wrong side up;
  • Unwind the double-sided tape to the length of the body;

We select double-sided tape so that the width of the tape is equal to the width of the blind block. We glue the tape so that it is flush with the walls of the block. In addition, carefully smooth the glued tape from the inside out so that it sticks evenly over the entire surface.

  • We apply the blinds to the window and determine their position on the top of the window sash;
  • Having decided on the location, we make marks on the profile corresponding to the ends of the block;

  • We install the previously removed adjusting bar and the installation can be considered complete.

How firmly will blinds be held when glued with double-sided tape?

The actual operation of blinds installed on tape shows that for 1.5 years the structure lasted without any changes, that is, it did not warp or fall. I think that over the next two or three years the situation will not change.

When installing a block of blinds, only the upper part is glued to the tape, while the lower strip is not fixed. This has virtually no effect on the operation of the device, except that when the shutter is opened towards you, the lower part of the blinds will move forward and touch the indoor flowers on the windowsill.

I told my friends about this installation method. They told me that the method is not bad, but they will not use it, since the tape, after removal, will leave characteristic marks that are difficult to remove. Is it really?

There will be marks, but it will be easy to remove any remaining glue from the frame. Just wet the cloth sunflower oil and wipe the plastic surface and the glue stains will disappear by themselves. For more effective removal stains from tape, moisten a rag not with sunflower oil, but

Since windows are made to order and can have different parameters, it is very important to correctly measure the window when ordering blinds. It is necessary to measure the window height and width to the nearest millimeter. Remember that the length and width of the blinds should be slightly larger. For measurements, use only a steel tape measure; other types of tape measures (fabric tape, etc.) may introduce measurement errors.

It is very important to decide how you want to install the blinds: inside the window opening or outside. For the first option, the length of the blinds should be 1 cm less than the height of the opening, and the width should be 2 cm less than the width of the opening. If you are going to hang blinds over a window opening, then the length of the blinds should be 5-7 cm longer, and the width of the strip should be 20 cm larger than the width of the opening.

How to attach blinds

There are 4 main ways to attach blinds:

    Mounting to the wall above the window

In this case, the window and slopes will remain intact; there are no clear restrictions on the width of the blinds (you can make it wider or narrower than the opening). Many manufacturers began to produce windows with already installed fasteners for blinds. If you have installed a package that does not have such fastenings, then you will most likely have to use this particular method of installing blinds.

Before you begin assembling and installing blinds, you need to understand the structure of blinds. Horizontal blinds consist of several parts:

    The top part of the blind includes a rotating axis, rollers, curtain rod, brackets, control cord retainer, rotating mechanism and top cover.

    The middle part consists of a ladder, lamellas (a thin plate of plastic or other material) and a plug.

    The lower part includes the lower cornice and side cover.

Assembly of horizontal blinds

In order to assemble the blinds, you will need scissors, a screwdriver, screws and a drill. Take it all necessary tools and follow the instructions.

    It is necessary to obtain and check the availability of all components for the blinds.

    Take the top and bottom of the crossbar, which has a U-shaped cross-section configuration. It must be cut to the size of your window.

    Make a small hole in the top rail for the control cord adjustment. All sharp edges of the hole can be closed plastic insert, which should be included.

    After this, it is necessary to fasten the lower cornice with special clamps of the side covers along with a line of strung lamellas.

How to assemble horizontal blinds: video

Since you might not understand something from the text description, we recommend that you watch a video of how horizontal blinds are produced and assembled.

Installation of horizontal blinds on plastic windows

    Fix the brackets (fasteners) on the top panel of the blinds.

    Attach the blinds to the window and mark under the top fastenings.

    Disconnect the brackets from the blinds and secure them with self-tapping screws to the window. After this, insert the blinds until they click.

    Attach the adjusting bars.

Try removing the tulle and curtains - and you will see how empty the room becomes. Currently they are creating a large number of curtain options. It's not just about the fabric. Today, blinds are very often used as curtains. They perfectly protect the house from sun rays and a curious look. These products are easy to install and dismantle. However, some face certain problems: not everyone knows how to install blinds on plastic windows. In this article we will try to understand this in detail.

Kinds

To create coziness, there are more than 10 types of blinds: vertical and horizontal, roller and pleated, attic and interframe, for arches and bay windows, Roman blinds and multi-textured, electric and protective (roller blinds), photo blinds.

Blinds can be wooden, bamboo, metal (aluminium), fabric, plastic, paper.

Ease of use, reliability in operation, affordable price, light-protective properties have led to the fact that horizontal blinds have become one of the most popular types. They are used in the design of windows and other openings (in the most different rooms). But most often they are used for windows, and in modern world– for plastic options.

Installation features of cassette models

If the owner installs the blinds himself, the manufacturer often refuses warranty obligations. There are quite clear explanations: due to incorrect installation, the shutters may simply not work, which means that the curtains will be unusable. In addition, if installed incorrectly, the glass itself and/or the frame can be damaged.

If you are not sure about own strength, then it’s better to contact a specialist.

If you decide to do everything yourself, firstly, you need to determine the methods of fastening. Secondly (depending on the chosen method) – purchase blinds. Thirdly, it is necessary to prepare tools and materials.

Mounting methods

There are several mounting methods (depending on the window opening):

  • If the window opening needs to be visually enlarged, then the cassette can be attached to the wall above the opening. The block itself can be much wider than the window opening, and the height of the structure can be much higher than the frame itself. In appearance, these can be full-fledged curtains;
  • If the window opening is wide enough, the window sill is used as an additional (for example, flower) shelf, then in this case the cassette can be attached to the upper slope of the opening - similar to installation on the ceiling. In this case, the window will visually look larger, and on the windowsill, by closing the blinds, you can hide important objects from prying eyes. In addition, with this mounting, the flowers will not be in eternal shade;
  • If the window itself is large enough and does not require visual magnification (or the window sill is narrow), then the blinds can be attached to a fixed window frame, to an opening sash, to glazing.

Necessary materials

Having decided on the mounting method, you should then prepare the necessary tools, including:

  • Roulette. Its length should be sufficient to measure the width and height of the window opening in one step. If you independently report the dimensions of future blinds to the manufacturer, you need to take measurements based on the chosen mounting method. If the cassette will be mounted on the frame itself, then the width of the lamellas (plates) should be 2-3 cm less than it. Otherwise, the blades of individual cassettes will interfere with each other. If you still make a mistake with the dimensions, then keep in mind that even metal lamellas (plates) can be carefully trimmed with ordinary scissors on both sides - to maintain symmetry;
  • Marker or pencil for marking;
  • Phillips screwdrivers and (or) screwdriver;
  • Drill or hammer drill - for attaching to a wall or ceiling;
  • Dowels, screws and brackets;
  • PVA glue or liquid nails - in case the hole is larger than the dowel and needs to be more securely fixed in the wall or ceiling;
  • Pliers;
  • Hammer;
  • Plumb line (for example, from a thread and a bolt);
  • A level that helps to position the structure correctly;
  • Stepladder or work table (chair).

So, the blinds are ready and unpacked. Everything you need is also prepared. It's time to start strengthening by considering various ways fastenings

How to hang it on the wall correctly?

When planning to make markings for brackets on the wall, you need to assemble the blinds, following the instructions:

  • At a distance of approximately 15 cm from the edges of the product, you need to mark the places for fastenings. Do this using a tape measure and a level.

  • The bracket should not be located at the location where the clamp is attached or at the location of the control system, otherwise it will interfere with the operation of the blinds. The distance between the brackets should be no more than 60 cm. As a rule, the width of the cassette block does not exceed 2.2 m. If the window is large, then several panels of blinds are made. The rule remains the same in any case: the wider the block, the more brackets will be required for secure fastening.

  • After installing the brackets, you need to push the latch forward. Carefully (slightly tilting it towards the wall) insert the upper cornice under the bracket latch, press it firmly against the wall and turn the latch all the way to the left by 90 degrees.

  • The lamellas are rotated to the “open-closed” position using the control knob included in the kit. The length of the handle should not exceed 2/3 of the length of the blade. If the handle is longer, then you need to remove it from the frame, open the protective cap, saw off the excess length, put the cap back on and hang it on the frame.

How to attach it to the ceiling yourself?

The principle of attaching a cassette model to the ceiling or the upper slope of a window opening is the same as when attaching it to a wall. Differences will be observed in the way the brackets are installed. When installing the bracket to a wall, horizontal holes are used, and when attaching to the ceiling or upper slope, vertical holes are used.

The technology is as follows:

  • Using a tape measure, determine the center of the window opening and make markings symmetrically (relative to the center). When you are going to attach the brackets, attach the cassette with the blinds and check how they work: whether the canvases interfere with each other and the free movement of the cords, or if they touch the opening.

  • Then connect the marks and check the levelness with a level. Using a drill or hammer drill, drill holes: for a self-tapping screw with a 2.5 mm drill, for a dowel - depending on the plastic part.
  • When planning to fasten the brackets, check again with a level that the cassette is positioned correctly. All that remains is to fix the brackets, fasten the cornice by turning the latch to the left 90 degrees and insert the plugs. If you attached the cornice with the canvas, this means that the job is done. If not, then all that remains is to attach the canvas.

Sash mounting

The cassette unit can be attached directly to the frame using self-tapping screws, violating the integrity of the window frame. But you can attach the blinds without drilling.

If you decide to use self-tapping screws, then their length should not exceed 10 mm, so as not to pierce window frame through and not to break the tightness of the window unit. After marking and attaching the brackets with self-tapping screws, you need to attach the blinds in the manner described earlier (insert the curtain rod, turn the latch to the left).

You can learn further about how to attach vertical aluminum blinds to a plastic window sash using drilling.

Install without drilling

If you decide to do without self-tapping screws and violating the integrity of the glass unit, then you can use double-sided tape or brackets - clamps. Moreover, you can attach the cassette with tape both to the frame itself and to the window sash. But brackets can only be used on sashes.

Using double-sided tape

Scotch tape must be used for construction work, not for paper. This type of tape is not sold in office supply stores. You need to look for it in building materials stores and auto stores.

There are two options for installing blinds with tape:

  • glue the tape directly onto the cassette and glue it to the window (sash);
  • Glue the clamp brackets to the tape, and then attach the cassettes to them.

In any case, when using tape as a material for attaching blinds, you must adhere to the following instructions:

  1. This type of work must be carried out in the warm season; the double-glazed window should not be cold or covered with condensation.
  2. It is necessary to wash the frame or glass, dry the mounting area and wipe it with acetone or solvent.
  3. Make markings using a pencil, cassette, level; in this case, the line must be strictly parallel to the window sill so that a skewed gap does not form below. If the window sill itself is located on a slope, then you need to focus on the level and plumb line, otherwise the slats (blind plates) will interfere with each other when closing. Their functionality will be impaired.
  4. Remove the protective film from the tape and carefully stick it strictly along the intended line.
  5. Attach the canvas if it was not attached initially.

Using bracket clamps

Bracket clamps are very convenient for window sashes. They produce several versions of such clamps (plastic and metal), but they are all very easy to use. You can use them according to the following simple instructions:

  1. When assembling the cornice, you need to fasten the canvas and assemble it. You can fasten the canvas at the end of the installation work.
  2. Try the clamp on the cornice and check the functionality of the block.
  3. Depending on the specific model clamp - open the window sash and snap the clamp (upper edge of the window sash). You can first disconnect the curtain rod and clamps, snap them onto the sash - and then attach the curtain rod to the clamp.
  4. Some models of clamps are equipped with stops that need to be secured to the curtain rod.
  5. Install the clips with magnets on the bottom of the window sash.
  6. Fasten the canvas if you have not done so before.
  7. Attach magnets to the bottom strip of the blind block and the clamps on the sash.

How to remove blinds?

Since there are quite a lot of models of blind cassettes, there are also many ways to remove them.

If your blinds are mounted on twist brackets, they can be removed by turning the latch to the right 90 degrees, while holding them. After turning, the cornice weakens; its upper edge needs to be slightly tilted towards the wall. The cassette comes out of the slots, the blinds are removed. Depending on the purpose for which you are removing the blinds, the canvas can be pre-assembled or left unraveled.

If the blinds are made in the form of a full-fledged curtain rod, then you need to very carefully (but with a little force) remove the top decorative strip. Below it is the curtain mechanism. Gather the canvas from bottom to top. Lift the blinds up and to the right, removing them from their grooves.

From the video below you can learn how to independently remove horizontal blinds from removable latches-fasteners.

Modern blinds are replacing the traditional curtains and curtains. They are able to protect the house from prying eyes from the street and from the sun's rays in the heat. At the same time, the rooms remain bright and comfortable.

There are several types of blinds, differing in the method of fastening and rotary mechanism slats. The most common are horizontal and vertical options, which have already become familiar to everyone. And in last years Cassette mechanisms also began to spread. They are mainly intended for external fastening on the windows. Before installing blinds on your windows, we recommend that you read this article.

Although the design and installation method seem simple, many small details make the operation of this type of curtain very dependent on installation conditions. The service life directly depends on the correct fastening.

There are several ways to install blinds:

  • into the window opening;
  • on the window frame with an overlay;
  • into separate halves of windows.

The choice of a specific method depends on your preferences, condition window slopes and wall relief.

What are the differences between different types of blinds?

Vertical curtain models look equally beautiful in strict office and in the apartment. Fundamentally, the entire structure consists of:

  • cornice;
  • lamellas - long vertical strips of soft material;
  • runners:
  • chains;
  • weights at the ends of the lamellas.

Typically, the length of all slats is the same, but on windows of complex shapes, figured blinds can be installed, and then their length is different. This must be taken into account during on-site installation.

Curtains can be attached to the ceiling or wall. The design of the mounting brackets depends on this.

Horizontal blinds are more common in country houses or apartments. They give the windows an atmosphere of quiet cozy home. However, they will look appropriate in the office.

The peculiarity of their fastening is that each individual lamella must be secured in its own sash. This allows you to create canvases complex type when the curtain covers only part of the window. By rotating each slat around its axis, a different permeability of the blinds is achieved, in addition, the slats move up and down.

Usually they are hung directly on the windows, on each individual sash.

Their installation consists of fastening the cornice and assembling the structural parts.

Cassette mechanisms differ from horizontal blinds in the absence of a control chain. They are equipped with a spring and are controlled by a handle on the bottom bar.

You can fix such a curtain in any position on the window. The folded canvas is hidden in a cassette box. Most often the box is located at the top of the window. This is a classic curtain pattern.

There are other possibilities. For the first floors, the lower location of the box will be more relevant. The canvas goes down, revealing the upper part of the window. Curtains can also be moved sideways: to the right or left.

Blinds also vary in type of material. If the slats are made of plastic, they are very practical and durable. They are easy to wash, but it’s a stretch to call them cozy. This is an option for public place or offices. More stylish and eye-pleasing curtains are made from fabric designs. Original blinds are made from wood, in particular bamboo, or aluminum.

Multi-textured blinds are considered the most unusual. This is a combination of fabric of different textures and plastic. At the top there are rigid polymer elements, the bottom of the composition is made up of multi-colored fabric slats. Everything together forms a kind of artistic sketch. Sometimes very complex design projects are implemented in this way.

Fastening technology

Before purchasing or ordering blinds, it is necessary to take careful measurements. If the blinds are hung in the window opening, then their length should be four centimeters shorter than the opening so that the lower lamella does not touch the window sill. When installing the overlay on the sides, on the contrary, 5 cm are added. By the way, the blinds can end not only at the level of the window sill, but also reach the floor. The choice is determined by your taste.

When choosing blinds options, do not forget about the fittings. It should not interfere with the window sashes.

By the way, in the case of a very uneven window opening or if the window has a complex shape, you will have to think carefully about the shape and size of the curtains. It will have to be made to order.

When installing finished canvases, it is extremely important to maintain symmetry and accuracy. The appearance of the entire product will depend on this. On the side of the control device, additional fastening is necessary, because the greatest load will be observed here. All fastenings are screwed to frames or walls with screws and dowels.
