Possible options for fastening doors into the opening. Installing interior doors with your own hands: how to correctly calculate the dimensions and install doors (95 photos) How to install interior doors

Every master is faced with the problem of how and what to attach assembled doors. To install a ready-made door block possible use in various ways installations. Knowing these installation options, you can easily choose the one that suits you. You will need a small set of tools: a drill, a hammer drill, a level, a screwdriver and a hammer. Also, to directly secure the box in the opening, fasteners and polyurethane foam are needed. Depending on where you need to attach the door block, you may need screws, dowels, and anchors.

The main stages of installing a door block

At the very beginning, the old door frame is dismantled. This can be done using a nail puller (crowbar), having previously made cuts on both sides of each vertical bar, in order to then press this structure away from the opening. If during installation old box Anchor bolts and nails were used, which are not possible to unscrew; they can be cut down using a grinder.

Before installing the frame of interior doors, it is necessary to check the verticals of the walls and take into account differences in the level of the walls and floor. The door frame must be positioned so that if there are any unevenness, the frame does not go deeper into the opening. This is necessary for the door trim to fit. In order to correctly position the door frame, you should use a building level and take into account all the errors in the opening.

First, the installations are rigidly fixed in the opening to achieve the initial level of rigidity using wedges. After completing the fixing work, it is worth re-checking the correct positioning with a level so that the frame is level with the door.

Working with polyurethane foam

It is important to know that the foam that is intended for the gun is much better and more convenient to use due to the fact that it is more dosed and has a small expansion coefficient; it hardens much faster. Foam, which is supplied in large quantities with a straw, will expand longer. Before starting work, it is better to cover the door leaf with masking tape and film, because the foam is difficult to wash off. It is important to know that you need to start foaming by fixing individual small areas. After 30 minutes you can already go through the entire perimeter. All cracks are filled with foam (50% of the total volume). Do not fill with a large amount of foam, because during expansion the foam will squeeze the box inward. We recommend using professional foams.

Since wood contracts and expands precisely because high humidity the consequence of expansion is deformation of the door block. The door will simply stop closing for this reason.

Video on possible door installation methods

There are several ways to fasten a door frame in an opening, each of which involves the use of a special type of fastening. Various options fastenings provide a certain level of reliability and strength of the fixed structure. We hope there are video stories on options for installing boxes wooden doors will help you.

Hidden method of installing doors on foam

The door frame is fixed in the opening using wooden wedges for fixation, and correct location checked by construction level. Foaming polyurethane foam need to be done little by little, in sections and with breaks to avoid deformation. The door frame is held in place almost thanks to foam alone.

To maintain the gap between the frame and the door itself, small 3 mm spacers are used, which are inserted between the door and the frame. They can only be removed when the foam dries. Usually the door is left overnight.

This method is convenient if you do not need to go into the room, it is fast and does not require special effort. It is important not to overdo it with foam so that you can open the door.

Installing doors using clamps or spacers

The installation principle is that we use spacers inside to temporarily fasten the door block in the opening. These can be either ordinary wooden rivers or special adjustable devices.

Both of these methods are very good for light and small doors.

Fastening doors using Knauf hangers

For these purposes, direct suspensions from the Knauf company, which are used in suspended ceilings, are ideally suited.

  • The plates must first be screwed to the box.
  • Insert the door into the opening.
  • Adjust the level.
  • We mark the places for the recess in the wall.
  • We make a sample for the plate.

After this, we set it according to the level and fix the plates. To adjust, we use wedging with wooden blocks.

It is also necessary to take into account that with this method of installing the box on the outer part of the wall, the location of the recess will definitely need to be hidden under a layer of plaster. That is why this method is only good if there is no finishing.

New mounting options

This video will show you how to secure a door frame in an opening. This type of fastening involves installing an interior door frame by placing the frame on the screwed heads of the screws that are located at the ends of the opening. This happens with the help of metal plates with a hole, which are screwed with outside boxes.

To achieve final fixation of the box in doorway, the usual means of adjustment are used.

With this method, the door block pillars move freely in the opening.

The obvious advantage of this method is the full possibility of adjustment and at the same time rigid fixation while maintaining the original appearance of the box and exterior finishing walls.

Concealed installation, fastening under hinges

As a rule, for the rigidity of the structure, screws or anchors are used, which are hidden under the hinges. To do this, make a hole between the screws in the hinge and attach it to the wall through it. On the side of the lock, under the decorative plate, another fastener is attached. As a result, we get 3 fixation points.

After direct fastening, we place a spacer at the bottom of the doors, since the bottom is not secured, and fill all the gaps with foam.

A significant advantage of this method is relative rigidity and preservation of appearance.

Through fastening with anchors or screws

This is the most common standard option for installing interior doors. For this fastening option, holes for anchors are first drilled in the required places of the racks, then the door is secured in the opening.

Preparation

  • Marking 4 anchors on each side.
  • Drilling with a 14 mm pen to a depth of 10 mm (space for the plug).
  • We drill a through hole with a 10 mm pen (a place for fixing with an anchor).

After which the box is exposed and the concrete is drilled with a 10 mm drill for the anchor. When the box is supported by anchors, it holds securely and does not require any spacers. Mounting points can be hidden by installing decorative plugs desired color, size (14 mm). Instead of anchors, you can use screws; this will reduce the diameter of the plug. The use of this option is the most reliable for heavy doors. Using it you can straighten (tension) a crooked rail. The doors can be used almost immediately. It is possible to adjust the gap. The downside is the presence of plugs.

Conclusion

There are many options for installing interior door frames, but you should choose the one that is the easiest, most convenient and reliable, or the fastest. The choice can be made using any door installation method, but these methods may be affected by the opening in which the installation is taking place, taking into account the intensity and other factors.

By following all the rules given below, you and your loved ones will be happy with brand new interior doors.

We install the interior door ourselves. Preparation

First you need level the walls cover them with putty and plaster. After which the wall in which the door will stand should be well dried otherwise there is a risk of the door frame moving.

The floor must also be prepared for laying. When installing an interior door take into account the final height of the future flooring, to correctly calculate the height of the door frame. If you are replacing an existing door, then the latter conditions are not so important.

The next step will be selection and purchase of interior doors, which we will talk about in the next article.

You can purchase the frame and doors separately or assembled. The door frame can be made on one's own. This U-shaped design, consisting of box timber. In essence, these are two racks, as well as horizontal rail, called the lintel.

Note! The best option door frame - without a horizontal bar at the bottom (threshold). If you don't hide this block, it will only get in the way when walking.

When you choose a timber, carefully ensure that there are no unevenness or black (dead) knots on it.

Important! The thickness of the door frame must be equal to the thickness of the door, otherwise interior door it will not be possible to install.

To see the quality result of our work, you need professional tool. However it is expensive. At the same time, if you do the work simple tools, that is, the risk of not maintaining the required accuracy.

You will need:

We begin to install the interior door

First you need to decide How will the interior door open?. This largely depends on the layout of the house.

For example, in the bathroom it is recommended to have doors that open outward, because there is little space there. And if the door is a transition from small corridor into a large room, then you can install doors that will open into the room.

Let's move on to installation of the door frame. This is the most crucial moment and the basis of all work on installing interior doors, since the entire success of the work depends on the installation of the racks.

1. Miter saw saw off the top parts of the posts at an angle of 45°. If you do not have a miter saw, then this operation can be done using a small hacksaw and a miter box.

2. We measure the racks. It is better to measure and mark the required length of the two posts from the inside.

3. Now let's prepare the lintel. We measure it from the inside in the same way.

4. Using a miter saw or small hacksaw, saw off the lintel on both sides at an angle of 45°.

How to properly install an interior door

Installing door hinges

Installing door hinges is also a responsible undertaking. Dimensions must be accurately maintained regarding the door leaf and door frame. It is also necessary to accurately calculate the dimensions of the hinge recesses.

1. On the inside of the stand you need to retreat 20 cm. A loop will be attached to this place.

2. The installation distance for the hinge will be 0.4 cm (the distance from the door leaf to the post) + the recess itself in which the hinge will be located.

3. Place the loop in the desired location and trace it with a pencil.

4. It is better to make the area for the hinge using a router, and if there is none, then this work is done with chisels.

5. We use the same principle to make seat bottom hinge, which should be located at a distance of 20 cm from the bottom edge of the door leaf.

6. We make recesses for the hinges both on the counter and on the door.

Door frame installation
Door frame installation should happen as follows:

1. We attach the racks perpendicularly to the ceiling using self-tapping screws. But first you need to use a drill to make holes of a smaller diameter than the diameter of the screws.

Then we screw the screws into the resulting holes, otherwise the structure at the screwing points may burst. It will be enough to screw in only 4 screws, 2 per side. The entire procedure must be done on a soft substrate (for example, cardboard) so as not to scratch the door leaf.

2. We place the resulting box in the wall opening, securing it with spacers and wedges.

Do not forget! There must be a gap of 2-3 cm between the box and the wall for the mounting foam.

3. Align the door frame horizontally and vertically using a level.

4. We finally fasten the entire box with self-tapping screws, but before that we drill holes in the box and in the wall.

Before drilling the wall, we make marks with a drill through our door frame. If the opening is made of brick, then you should use a self-tapping screw to hit the solid brick, and not into the cracks between the bricks, otherwise the dowels will not hold well.

5. After the holes are ready, of which you can make 6-8 per side, you can install dowels.

6. Now we screw self-tapping screws (it is better to use wood screws) into the dowels through the door frame. It will be more convenient to screw in the screws with an electric drill with an appropriate attachment or a screwdriver. Do not tighten the screws to the limit, as the box may bend. When screwing in, periodically check the level of the structure.

7. Installing hinges.

Be careful! The hinges must be installed so that the door leaf can be attached to the hinges from above.

8. We install the door, hanging it on the hinges, and check whether the door closes and opens correctly. The door should not open or close on its own - this will indicate that the interior door is installed incorrectly. If there are any defects, we eliminate them.

9. Now you need to close the door and insert small spacers of appropriate sizes (cardboard is fine) between the door and the posts so that in the future the foam does not deform the door frame.

10. Finally, we apply foam between the wall and the frame. Start filling the vertical seam from the bottom. Do not overdo it, fill about a third of the total volume of the seams, since the foam increases in size as it dries.

In addition, excessive application of foam leads to its overuse. Also, excess foam may end up on front part doors. The foam should dry for about a day at a temperature of 20°C.

11. After the foam has dried, you can remove all the spacers.

Installation of platbands

After the door frame is installed, you still have to install platbands.

1. To do this, cut the required length at an angle of 45°.

Advice! To ensure that when cutting the platband there are no chips left and the cut is “clean”, saw from the outside.

It is better to saw the slats for the platbands, leaving a margin of a few millimeters to insure in case of a mistake.

2. We secure the resulting platbands using self-tapping screws, nails or glue.

3. If you used nails, then their heads need to be rubbed down.

And if these are self-tapping screws, then you can simply put decorative plugs on them. It is enough to screw 6-8 self-tapping screws onto each side of the trim.

There are times when the width of the casing is too large, because of which it cannot be installed to a wall perpendicular to it. Then you just need to reduce the width of the platband by cutting it off. You should end up with a casing that fits directly against the wall.

If the platbands do not fit well in the corners, then such angles can be adjusted using sandpaper, but it is better to use a belt sander.

Also consider the case when the walls in the room are not straight, and are located in the shape of a trapezoid. This usually happens in toilets and bathrooms of old "Khrushchev" buildings. In such cases, cutting the platbands at an angle of 45° makes no sense, because they will not fit together. Therefore, you can take our advice and cut the trim as in the photo.

However, such methods of installing platbands can be used if the thickness of the box matches the thickness of the wall. And if the wall thickness is greater, then use the installation additional extras.

Installation of accessories

So, in order to prepare the accessories and carry out installation, you first need cut rebounds according to your sizes. It can be done with your own hands from a flat board.

Perfect for damp and thick walls waterproof plywood(BS), which can be additionally pasted over decorative film. But it is often easier and cheaper to install ready-made additions from MDF with decorative design.

Let's consider one more nuance: if the design of the interior door has a significant distortion, then installing add-ons is highly not recommended.

Distortions are evidence that the door frame has been installed wrong, and if the fittings are adjusted to such an incorrect design, then later they will split and warp.

Maybe, walls in the room with a slight slope. If we are talking about small irregularities (about 5 mm), then this can be corrected with a layer of plaster. With much greater curvature of the walls, there will be no choice - you will have to file the fittings under the walls.

Foaming

After installing the extensions and before applying plaster The cracks must be filled with foam.

As you know, when foam hardens, it tends to expand, creating a lot of pressure, and so that the design of the interior doors does not suffer, use our tips:

  • Do not remove the leveling wedges and spacers before the foam has completely dried.
  • Apply foam in 3-4 layers: apply the next layer after the previous one has dried.
  • Leave a space of 1 cm unfilled with foam between the supports and the wall. It is better to plaster this space.

We hope that our advice will bring you benefit and joy from your new doors.

How to install an interior door video

An interior door serves to divide the space in a room and also provides sound insulation in a private house or apartment. In addition, the door leaf is important detail interior, therefore it must correspond to the design style. Because installation work are quite expensive, the question arises of how to properly install interior doors with your own hands. The answer is in the detailed step-by-step instructions outlined on this page.

Dimensions and equipment

Depending on the opening method, doors can be folding, sliding or swinging. The latter are the most popular because they are structurally simplest and fairly easy to install. They are presented in large quantities modifications. According to the opening method, the following are distinguished:

  • double-leaf and single-leaf;
  • left- and right-sided.

Step 3: Installing the box and hanging the canvas

The box must be installed in a pre-prepared opening. The hinged post must be leveled first using a plumb line or level. It is imperative to check it from all sides. Then the top crossbar and the stand must be spread apart with wedges. The stand will only be exposed when it is in a vertical position.
Next, wedge the second rack. Be sure to check the horizontal part of the box.

The old way– the side posts must be drilled through. To do this, holes for dowels are initially made in the wall. The box must be attached to the wall with self-tapping screws no less than 150 mm long.

Old method of fastening

In order to fix the box in the opening in a hidden way, you can use metal plates, which are usually used for installation plasterboard structures. Most often, such plates are used together with anchors. In this case, it is worth choosing the number of fasteners in accordance with the expected load.

This is what the mount looks like

The use of such plates is in a non-standard way and is possible only in the absence of finishing. It is recommended to groove a section of the wall in order to subsequently putty the fasteners.

All that remains is to hang the door on the frame. After this, you need to make final adjustments to the box. The lock post must then be adjusted to fit the door so that it does not protrude beyond the wall. It is worth remembering that in order to maintain the integrity of the box and the canvas, you must first drill several holes for the screws.

Step 4: Foaming

After securing the canvas, you need to foam the gaps between the box and the edges of the opening. The foam should be fed carefully, layer by layer, and fed from above so that it does not protrude out. Then the door will have to be closed and not touched for a certain time so that the foam dries. Approximate drying time is 1 day.

If the composition accidentally gets on the canvas, immediately remove it with a clean, dry cloth; dried fragments can be cleaned using effective cleaning agents.

Step 5: Installing the lock and handles in the door leaf

The most popular today are handles with a built-in lock. The work order is as follows:

  1. Make a mark one meter from the floor. The handle mechanism must be applied so that a mark is visible in the hole at the top.
  2. Drill holes in the canvas from the end. After this, the edges of the holes should be cut off with a chisel to level the hole.
  3. Insert the mechanism into the hole. In this case, the lock must be leveled and then secured using self-tapping screws. The bar on the lock should be traced with a pencil to cut through the veneer, then the mechanism should be removed. According to the outlined contour, you need to select a platform to determine the thickness of the locking plate. This is done by using a chisel.
  4. Drill holes for the latch and handles. You need to attach the lock to the canvas with different sides, align it and mark it. Holes must be made on both sides and they must not be through.
  5. Remove the resulting shavings and install the handles.

Step 6: Installing trim strips

An extension is a plank approximately 2 meters long, 250 mm wide, and no more than 3 cm thick. The plank should be used during the installation of interior doors if the wall is thicker than the door frame.

The timber for the box is made in standard width– approximately 70 mm. It can be expanded according to the thickness of the opening with an extension. This will allow you to more clearly align the box and walls. The beam has a groove for the plank. You must first measure the distance to the edge of the wall, starting from the depth of the groove.

The allowance can be set in different ways:

  • into the groove provided in the box;
  • with cutting a groove in the absence of a ready-made one;
  • attaching the extension from the inside of the beam in the absence of a groove, the box is installed together with the extension;
  • fastening the extension in the shape of a “P”;
  • if the extension is not too wide and there is no groove in the box, the bar should be drilled and screwed to the box.

The plank is sawn into several parts using a circular saw to obtain several pieces of the required dimensions. You need to prepare one short plank and two vertical ones. Explore our simple step by step instructions By .

Step 7: Fastening the trim

During installation of the platbands, the box must be located level with the opening on the front side. To connect the platbands, you must first attach a vertical strip to the box and place a mark 0.5 cm higher, retreating from the crossbar of the box. This mark will act as a cutting edge. In the same way you need to mark the cut on the other side.

We will tell you how to properly install an interior door. You will learn about the intricacies of choosing components and what nuances can be used to understand the professionalism of the master. Interior doors must remain in their original packaging for at least 5 days in the room in which they will be installed.

Preparing boards for the door frame

First, let's check the height and width of the opening and make sure that the doors with the frame will easily fit into them.

Using a laser level, we will estimate the difference in floor height on each side of the doorway. In our case, it was 2 mm, and we need to take this distance into account when making the door frame. Let's say a few words about the master's tool:

For quality installation We can't get by with just a hammer and a chisel. We will need a circular saw with a rotating platform. Now, with its help, we will trim the door frame blanks. It would be very difficult to cut a beautifully veneered piece with a regular hacksaw. Let's start marking the door frame. Using a sharp knife, mark the places where the top part will be trimmed.

The plate allows you to immediately take into account the gap of the door in the frame. Usually it is 2-3 mm. A true master should have the following device in his arsenal that allows him to hold the door in a vertical position:

We mark the places for the hinges. Usually this is 20-25 cm from the edge.

Place one of the door frame boards on the door and install the bottom gap. Usually it is 8-10 mm. As a rule, interior doors are assembled without thresholds. Using a sharp knife, make notches for the hinges on the door frame board. Mark the top edge of the board. We lay the left and right boards of the door frame together, setting a slight shift of a few millimeters to compensate for the difference in floor height marked by the level.

In places where the door frame boards will be subsequently trimmed, we need to carefully remove the wrapped veneer with a chisel. If this is not done, then when cutting on the machine the board will be skewed and we will not be able to make a perfect cut at 45°. We install the board on the saw machine, and turn the saw itself for sawing at 45°.

The veneered board fits tightly to the machine at the back. We carefully cut at 45°. Three parts of the door frame are ready:

We mark the loops. This process has one feature - the loop is installed with the logo facing up.

It is better to mark the hinges on the door frame board with a sharp knife. If you are not confident, do it with a pencil, but remember that it has a certain thickness, which may cause error. When using a knife, the notches are made at an angle towards the future sample. This will allow you to install the hinges tightly and beautifully in the future.

Another necessary tool for a craftsman is a manual milling machine. We set the width of the sample according to the width of the loop. The sampling depth is adjusted according to the thickness of the loop. Using a manual milling machine, work on making a sample in the door frame board is completed in a minute.

A correctly adjusted cutter will not remove anything unnecessary:

While working, the master must pay attention to his extreme notches and not go beyond them. The same work done with a chisel and hammer will not always be accurate, and it will also take more time.

Since the hinges have rectangular edges, we must use a chisel to remove the roundness at the corners. To do this, we will make two or three notches in the corners. This way we are guaranteed to remove the excess and not touch the wood behind the sample. This work must be done carefully and slowly. It depends on how beautiful the hinges in the door frame will look.

An important point is that the loop must enter the sample with force. It is recommended that before screwing the hinge, drill holes that are smaller in diameter than the screws. To avoid drilling into the floor, place a stop under the door frame board.

We also drill holes for the second hinge.

Door frame installation

Now we need to make holes for the screws that we will use to secure the door frame on the hinge side.

There is a rule here: the holes are made in the middle of the longitudinal and transverse axis, that is, for the top loop they should be made a little lower, and for the bottom loop a little higher. This way we achieve uniform fastening of the frame to the doorway. The recess should be deep enough so that the screw does not interfere with the installation of the hinges.

Let's make hidden holes in the places where we will attach the elements of the door frame to each other. Depending on the thickness of the box block, we will make a recess either higher or lower.

The main rule is that the blind is performed at an angle of 90° relative to the cut. In the upper element of the door frame we make a hidden hole in the center. Thus, the door frame will be fastened on each side in three places.

We screw the wood screws into the elements of the box. Here it is important to accurately align the parts and prevent their mutual displacement. If everything is done correctly, we will get the perfect angle. On the other side, let's perform the same operations.

Install the assembled box in doorway, and to prevent the box from falling, we will place several pieces of cardboard. Let's install a laser level and check the verticality of the door frame on the hinge side.

Now we will need wedges with which we will adjust the door gap and set the frame level. They can be made from scraps of box timber using a circular saw. First of all, we need to install wedges in the places where we will attach the door frame to the walls.

Additionally, we hammer one wedge into each of the upper corners of the box. Laser level check the verticality of the installation. If necessary, we knock out or change the wedges.

The door frame should be aligned flush with external wall rooms. We fasten the box through the secretion made in the hinges.

Be sure to install wedges in the places where we attach the box. They should stay there forever. The door frame on the hinge side is fixed in two places and has three wedges. But the pretend side of the box has only one wedge on top. We will display it after hanging the door. Don't forget to use a level to check that the box is installed horizontally. Since we took into account the unevenness of the floor when cutting the frame bars, our level now shows the horizon.

While we are working on the door leaf, the pre-installed door frame must be partially foamed.

It takes some time for the foam to set a little before we hang the doors. First the foam is applied in small portions from inside the room. The front part of the door frame is partially foamed using a line method. This is necessary so that we have the opportunity to move the hinged part of the door frame, aligning it with the door leaf. You shouldn’t put too much foam.

Installation of door hardware

Now the door is placed again on a special stand. We will install door hardware.

And again we mark the hinges, but on the door leaf. We make marks with a sharp knife at an angle relative to the loops. Using a milling machine, we make cuts on the door leaf for hinges.

Using a chisel we also level the corners. We get an ideal selection for hinges in the door leaf. It is ideal because our loop is inserted inside with force, which means that there will be no gaps.

Let's look at how to properly drill holes for screws.

Drilling begins at an angle, resting on the edge of the loop, then the drill is set vertically, and we drill exactly in the center. This simple technique allows you to easily drill holes in the center of the hinges. We apply markings for installing the door latch. Usually it falls in the middle of the door.

When drilling a hole for the latch, be careful not to damage the excess veneer. To do this, set the rotation of the drill counterclockwise and apply a central marking with a drill. This way the drill will not jump off and tear the adjacent veneer. Then set the drill to normal drilling mode and drill the required hole. The drilling depth can be adjusted using a special marker that you apply to the drill. The marker in this case is ordinary electrical tape.

The hole is ready, and we insert the latch into it.

Please note that the diameter of the hole must exceed the internal thickness of the latch. Let's make marks using a knife.

And we'll use it again milling machine, then use a wide chisel to select the corners.

As usual, we'll make a few notches and then clean up the corners. Now insert the latch and fasten it with screws.

Installation of door leaf

Our foam has partially set. Now it will provide us with an elastic state of the box. Place a stop under the door and tighten the top hinge.

A lever may be required to get the bottom hinge to fit well. Don't forget to put a stop under it.

When the loop fits exactly into the groove, you can fasten it with two screws. While suspended, the vertical installation of the doors is checked.

Let's check the operation of the door frame seal. If it squeaks, coat it with a small amount of VD-40. We move on to aligning the front side of the door frame. When the door is hung, we can evaluate how perfect the door leaf is. And right now we have the opportunity to align the front part of the frame with the door. As in the previous case, we level this part of the box using wedges.

Slightly hardened polyurethane foam allows you to smoothly move the cover part of the box in one direction or another. Having finished the alignment, mark the center of the latch on the counter block of the box. When choosing door latches give preference to those that have a protrusion on the mating part. With its help, you can regulate the closing force of the doors.

Having made the mark, we use the milling machine again.

This time we are making a recess for the door latch.

If necessary, rounded edges can be adjusted using a chisel. We drill out the fastening points of the mating part of the latch and fasten it with screws.

Now let's drill a hole in this cavity for the third mounting screw. Regardless of whether it is used anchor bolt or a self-tapping screw, it will be hidden inside this cavity. It is also necessary to install an additional wedge in this place.

Let's tighten the self-tapping screw, which will secure the front part of the box through the drywall to the inner beam of the load-bearing wall.

Installation of door handles

Now you can collect door handles. Use a hexagon to tighten the internal pin on one of the handles.

After inserting the handle, secure it with three self-tapping screws.

Let's insert the handle on the other side and do the same. Let's check the operation of the handle.

To complete the assembly of the handle, fix the second handle using a hexagon. Put on decorative caps on each side.

Now is the time to apply foam between the wall and door frame With outside doors. Don't forget to screw the remaining screws into the door hinges.

Installation of accessories

The foam on the inside of the doors has already dried, this will allow us to move on to next stage door installations.

We need to install extensions on the inside of the room.

We determine the distance by choosing the most protruding part of the wall. Having taken measurements from above and below, we will choose the largest one. If there is a rounding in the inner groove of the box, it must be carefully cut off with a knife. This will allow you to place the extension in this groove quite tightly without gaps.

We perform this operation on the other side as well. If the foam sticks out, it needs to be cut off slightly.

Now we will really need a circular saw with a top table. By setting the emphasis to the specified width, we cut the extension boards perfectly. Trim the bottom edge of the extension.

We place the extension board, resting it on the upper groove of the door frame.

Let's do the same on the other side. And again we cut the boards to the final dimensions.

Clean the groove of the door frame into which we will insert the extensions from foam using a small piece of board. Let's do this around the entire perimeter of the door frame.

Let's install the extension boards into the vacated groove. To fix the extension, it is necessary to wedge it in upper corners door frame.

Using a level or a straight board, you need to ensure that the extension is either flush with the wall, or, if the wall is uneven, protrudes slightly.

The extension will hold perfectly if it is fixed with polyurethane foam. In this case, there is no need to make holes and attach it to the wall with screws. Once the foam has expanded and hardened, it can be cut flush with the wall.

So, we installed the extensions and foamed them with polyurethane foam to secure them. If you do everything using this technology, the door can be used in 20 minutes. All we have to do is wait for the foam to completely harden, cut it, plaster and level the sections of the wall adjacent to the door, hang wallpaper or paint the walls, and only then nail the casing. When plastering a doorway, do not allow contact wet plaster with door frame. Use here masking tape, remove the plaster immediately. To make the door fit more tightly, bend the protrusion on the mating part of the latch.

Replacing interior doors is not as labor-intensive and complicated a process as it seems. You can fill a double or single opening yourself without the help of a specialist. Of course, you won’t save time, but you will save money and acquire new skills when renovating an apartment or house.

How to install an interior door: in this article we will tell you how to choose a good door leaf, what the block for filling the opening is made of and how to install it.

Opening measurement

Making a mistake at the stage of measuring the doorway is unacceptable: if you purchase a system of large dimensions, you will not be able to insert it, and if you purchase a smaller one, you will not be able to fix it well.

It is better to measure the doorway after dismantling old door when access to the bare wall became available. This way you can assess the situation and make the right measurements. Removing them is simple: take a tape measure and determine the height and width of the entrance along the wall in the narrowest place (relevant for buildings where the vertical structure of the structures is poorly maintained). With this data, go to the store for a new door.

Manufacture of the product according to custom sizes not required: in houses with apartments, builders initially lay out standard openings, and fillings for them are always available for open sale.

Interior doors in private wooden house may differ from the standard ones, then you will have to order new ones and wait for their production.

Door selection

The first thing you should pay attention to when choosing canvas and boxes is the material they are made of.

The ideal option is to purchase a box and canvas made of the same material. You should not give preference to wood fiber board; doors made from it are short-lived; they are installed on construction sites so that new owners can replace them with permanent ones that are more durable. durable materials. Ideally, you should acquire a solid array as door filling, to reduce the cost, the canvas can be replaced with MDF, which is also a durable raw material for the manufacture of cheaper door frames.

Additional strips and trims can be made of fiberboard, wood or MDF. They do not carry a load, they only decorate gaps and disguise connections.

Double doors are often chosen for large rooms and halls, single-leaf blocks are installed in bedrooms and kitchens. In any case, the size of the box and the number of panels are determined by the size of the opening.

Step-by-step instructions for installing from scratch

Installing interior doors with your own hands will not take much time, just stock up the right tool, purchase required material and you can start working. Follow detailed step-by-step instructions and your success is guaranteed.

This plan is valid for installation swing doors, sliding ones are mounted slightly differently, but in a similar way.

Step 1: prepare tools and material

To install an interior door you will need:

  1. Drill or hammer drill;
  2. 3 and 4 mm drills for wood;
  3. Drills 4 and 6 mm for concrete;
  4. Saw;
  5. Screwdriver;
  6. Wood screws;
  7. Level/plumb;
  8. Polyurethane foam;
  9. Roulette;
  10. Pencil.

In addition, a door block must be purchased in advance.

Step 2: determine action tactics

Installation of wooden doors is carried out according to standard scheme shown in the photo.

  1. Door frame;
  2. Door leaf;
  3. Nail/screw;
  4. Polyurethane foam.

First, we assemble the box, then insert it into the opening and hang the door.

Step 3: assemble the box

There are 2 options for assembling the box under the canvas.

To understand whether the excess parts of the wood have been cut correctly, assemble the box on the floor like a mosaic: everything should fit together perfectly. Then we fix the planks with self-tapping screws on the side of the wall.

For the threshold, you also need to determine the place by attaching the canvas to the box assembled along the top. Step back 2.5 mm from it and make a risk. Attach the bottom bar - the threshold - to this mark.

Step 4: marking for hinges

At the stage of assembling the box, it is worth determining the places where the hinges are attached. To do this, measure 20-25 cm from the top and bottom on the side stand, attach loops and make marks with a knife or pencil. Screw the product with self-tapping screws, thereby determining the future location of the loop, which will facilitate its fastening. Now insert the canvas, measure the gaps to the side edges and make marks on the canvas. In the same way, make several fasteners so as not to lose their location later.

Remove the screws and the hinge; they will need to be fastened after installing the box in the opening.

The box is ready for installation. More detailed process demonstrates the author of the video.

Step 5: Installing the Box

Now it’s time to install the doors yourself, and it starts with installation assembled box. To do this, you need to place the structure on the threshold and align the vertical. For verification, use a plumb line and level. To prevent the box from falling during verification, secure it with spacers or temporary wedges made from scraps of wood.

Now you can check the canvas: will it open or not. To do this you need to insert it into installed box, focusing on flat wall. If opening does not occur or is not fully realized, it may be necessary to adjust the spacers and adjust the position of the rack and cross bars.

If you managed to install everything correctly and the canvas fits well into place, you can fasten the box. How to do it:

  1. Wedges are driven in on the sides of the upper cross member, then above where it is attached to the racks;
  2. Drive wedges along the entire height of the opening, constantly checking the evenness of the installation and the absence of displacements in any plane.

Step 6: secure fit

The delivered and verified box must be finally secured so that it can accept the canvas. There are 2 solutions:

  1. Screw the box to the side walls with screws. This reliable way, to implement it, a few wood screws or self-tapping screws are enough. Choose inconspicuous places for fastening; they mainly use areas under door hinges and under the lock plate. They take a concrete block and make a hole for a screw. Now tighten the fastener so that its head does not remain above the plane of the wood. If this amount of fasteners is not enough, you can drill through holes in other places and also plant self-tapping screws, the caps of which are covered with plugs to match the surface.
  2. The second method is to use hidden plates. The peculiarity of the method is that there is no need to drill the frame and wall.

After this, fill the space between the opening and the box with mounting foam to 2/3 of the total thickness. To prevent the structure from being squeezed out, install spacers inside the passage contour while the foam polymerizes.

Step 7: attach the hinges

At correct installation For interior doors, the hinges are attached only before directly hanging the door leaf. Screw the parts for the box to the previously marked places, repeat the steps for the canvas.

Step 8: hanging and cladding

The hardest part is over, now you can hang the canvas and cover the joints with platbands. The master clearly explains in the video how to install an interior door.

As you can see, it is quite possible to replace or install a new interior door yourself, following a clear procedure. The technology is described in detail and shown in the accompanying videos, so understanding the issue will not be difficult.
