The first way to create coral branches

The process of creating artificial coral branches:
Pour PVA glue into a small container and add paint of the desired color to it (you can first glue the branches and then cover them with spray paint). Pour rice into the container and stir (Figure 1).
Take simple branches, or you can also create entire compositions (Fig. 2).
Cover them with paint (as we already wrote, this step can be omitted) (Fig. 3).
Generously coat the branches with PVA glue (the glue can be moved with paint) (Figure 4).
Sprinkle the branches coated with glue with rice; here and there you can glue peas to create larger inclusions (Fig. 5).
We paint the twig, sprinkled with rice and peas, in the desired color (Fig. 6).
After the glue has dried, the branches sprinkled with rice and peas need to be painted with red paint, let the paint dry and you can put the resulting coral branches in a vase and admire the result!
The branches can be painted in any color, for example, you can paint them white, adding a little silver glitter, and you will end up with a frozen, frost-covered branch. These coral branches are perfect for New Year's decoration interior
The second way to create wax coral branches
To create artificial corals you will need:
Dry tree branches
- a lot of red candles, you need a lot of candles (you can also use aroma candles, thus, corals will play the role of a refresher)
- a suitable bowl for melting candles
The process for creating coral branches is as follows:
The first thing you need to do is prepare workplace- cover the table with oilcloth.
Melt all the candles in a steam bath (Fig. 10).
After that, holding the branch over a vessel with wax, you need to pour melted wax over it with a spoon. Take your time, as the paraffin should have time to cover the branch with a fairly thick layer with growths and irregularities, which will give the branches the appearance of coral. Rotate the branches around their axis so that the wax can absorb the most unusual shapes(Figure 11).
During the working process, the wax will cool down. It must be reheated to the desired consistency in a water bath.
Ready-made branch corals can be placed in a vase, and add shells and rice to the bottom to create the appearance of a sandy bottom (Figure 12).

Let's start our step-by-step master class.
Step 1: Make the blanks
Knead the white polymer clay well until it becomes smooth and soft. Form blanks from plastic. You will need:
- 3 small balls of different sizes;
- 5 thick pancakes of the same size;
- 7 small carrot-shaped cones;
- 9 small canes in the shape of a thin sausage;
- 3 thin ovals.
Put the blanks aside for now, leaving in front of you only 3 balls of different sizes.
Step 2: Shape the Round Coral
Take the largest ball. Using the round tip of your brush, press small indentations into this ball.
Place the indentations clearly one after another over the entire area of the ball. Try to ensure that the resulting dimples are the same depth.
Repeat the same with the remaining two balls.
Step 3: Make a Cup Coral
Take one of the pancakes. Place the end of a brush with a round tip in the middle of the pancake.
Wrap polymer clay around the end of the brush. Most leave the material at the end of the tip, wrap the remaining clay thin layer around the handle.
Carefully separate the resulting bowl from the handle.
Repeat the same with the remaining pancakes.
Step 4: Make a Cone Coral
Take a small piece of carrot-shaped plastic. Insert a pin into its thick end.
By rotating the pin clockwise you will create a small but visible hole.
Repeat manipulations with the remaining pieces.
The remaining blanks: 7 thin tubes and 3 thin ovals do not need to be modified in any way. They are already ready to use.
Step 5: Assemble the composition
Now you can collect all the details into one composition. How exactly to arrange the parts is up to you, we just give general recommendations according to their placement.
Cover wooden board aluminum foil. This will allow you to later transfer the composition into the oven without any problems, and you can bake it directly on the foil.
Place the pieces on the foil. To do this, place three round corals side by side. To the side of them, place figures in the form of bowls in one line. Place cone elements between the recesses of round corals.

To make corals for a cake from fondant you will need either purchased mastic to make figurines, or you can make your own mastic from marshmallows (recipe with photo). Homemade mastic from condensed milk is not suitable for making corals, but you can use it to cover a cake and make simple figures, like fish or pebbles for a sea cake, for example.

Decide on a color. Corals can be made either white or any other color. It looks best on the cake if there are both colored and white corals.
Knead the mastic. To make coral look natural, use food coloring to make two pieces of different colors and place them together.
Roll the resulting sausage.
Roll out
Roll into a thin cake (2-3-4 millimeters is possible, 3 is best). Give - cut out the shape of the future coral. Please note that the coral should not be made in the same shape as mine, but with a wide base! I really wanted to make it “like the real thing”, it looked gorgeous, but this option is suitable if you do not plan to transport the cake. If you transport it, the thin “shoots” may break off!
Cover part of the coral with film to prevent it from drying out prematurely!
Lay out the sugar mastic corals, giving them the shape you want. Any semicircular surface will do - cups, glasses, bottles...
Here in the photo I have the “correct” coral - with a base (no need to make a hole at the very bottom), of good shape. This one is not afraid of “moving” a mastic cake.
Leave them to dry for several hours, ideally overnight. Then simply insert into the cake (the corals are inserted directly into the fondant coating).

Just like you made coral out of fondant, you can make a “marbled” topping out of fondant for a cake!
To make sea grass, roll out a strip of mastic, cut it into two parts with a zigzag. Twist the strips to create a sharp tip. Dry - then use the tip to weed - mastic seaweed is easy to stick into the mastic coating of the cake!

The flour itself is already a paste, and you also need to add a little talc (baby powder) to it. Some people add PVA glue to this mass, but the author of this MK believes that due to the glue the mass may not become so loose.
Floral wire larger in diameter is perfect for creating a frame. The wire needs to be twisted into several layers and given the shape of branches (Figure 4).
Start covering the workpiece with the prepared mass (Fig. 6).
