this text to your friend. You have 1.5 minutes to read the text silently, then be ready to
read it out loud. You will have not more than 1.5 minutes to read it.
Being the third most common native language in the world, after
Mandarin Chinese and Spanish, English is the leading language of
international discourse and the global lingua franca through
American-dominated media and technology. Owing to the
assimilation of words from all over the world, modern English
contains a very large vocabulary and the Oxford English Dictionary
lists over 250,000 distinct words, not including many technical,
scientific, and slang terms. As the first language English is spoken
by the populations of the United Kingdom, the USA, Canada,
Australia and New Zealand. Alongside with these five main
sovereigns there are many other countries, with a smaller
population, that use English on a day-to-day basis as their first
language. English is widely learned as the second language and
the countries with the highest numbers of second language English
speakers are India, Nigeria and the Philippines. English is an
official language of almost 60 countries and many world
organizations including the European Union and the United
Nations.

Unified State Exam. English. Oral part

Review of the program. Version 1.2.

The program can be launched using a shortcut on the desktop. You need to run as administrator: stand with the mouse on the shortcut, right-click and select "Run as administrator" in the menu that appears. You can also configure the properties of the shortcut so that the program always runs as administrator, even if you double-click the shortcut with the left mouse button (see the answer to question 19 about this).

Against the background of the splash screen (we now see it on the left), music sounds (the first chords of ´Gaudeamus´). This is an important detail (diagnostics of the state of the sound card on the user's computer).

Screen with a preface to the program.

If you drag the text down using the scroller (on the right), you will see a list of authors.

____________________________________________________________________________

Click on the checkbox button at the bottom of the frame and open the introduction.

____________________________________________________________________________

We select the item "What awaits you on the oral part of the exam" on the left in the main menu. Here is a detailed story about what tasks will have to be performed in the oral part of the exam, and what time limits will be given for their implementation.

____________________________________________________________________________

In the same section, examples of answers are given (using the example of Option 01). You can see a link here that will allow you to listen to the text that is offered for reading aloud in the first task in this version in a professional voice-over.

____________________________________________________________________________

You can also find out the evaluation criteria here.

____________________________________________________________________________

In order to start the testing procedure itself, select the item "Working with the full version of the simulator" in the main menu. Click on the corresponding link (you can see it in this screenshot).

____________________________________________________________________________

A window appears on the screen for entering a username and password (to get them, you need to select the required access period and click on the appropriate "Buy" button on this page at the top right).

____________________________________________________________________________

We select the option for passing the test and indicate the username, so that later it will be easier to find files with sound recordings of the answers.

____________________________________________________________________________

We check and, if necessary, adjust the recording level through the microphone.

____________________________________________________________________________

Everything is ready to start testing. Read on for the latest instructions on how to keep track of your test time.

____________________________________________________________________________

The first task of the test. One and a half minutes are given to familiarize themselves with the text, which is to be read aloud a little later.

____________________________________________________________________________

After the preparation time has elapsed or by pressing the "Ready to answer" button (in the previous screenshot), the microphone is switched on for recording. Time is limited in this case as well (the countdown indicator is visible in the upper part).

____________________________________________________________________________

The next task is on the screen. We see a photo of a house that is being rented. You need to prepare (and then say into the microphone) five questions on the aspects that are indicated in this screenshot.

____________________________________________________________________________

The microphone is turned on for recording. We say the first of the prepared questions.

____________________________________________________________________________

Twenty seconds are given to write each question.

____________________________________________________________________________

In the third task, you need to choose one of three photos and prepare a short story as if you took this photo.

____________________________________________________________________________

The microphone is now enabled for recording. It is necessary to say which of the three photographs has been chosen, and tell your story.

____________________________________________________________________________

And finally, the last task. You need to prepare a story based on two photographs. In particular, you need to tell how they are similar, and how they differ.

____________________________________________________________________________

For the last time during testing, the microphone is turned on for recording, and ...

____________________________________________________________________________

The test is over. You can listen to recordings of each of the eight responses.

____________________________________________________________________________

If your teacher helps you with your lessons, you can open the folder with audio files and give them to the teacher for review and review.

____________________________________________________________________________

We return to the main menu of the program and select the item "Samples of tasks execution".

____________________________________________________________________________

We select Option 01 and find ourselves in the menu of this option.

____________________________________________________________________________

Having selected the first task, we again see the already familiar text (it should have been read aloud when passing the test), but now we can listen to it in an exemplary performance. To do this, use the appropriate link below the text.

____________________________________________________________________________

When choosing the rest of the tasks, we see the proposed sample answers in text form.

____________________________________________________________________________

You will not have more than 1.5 minutes to read it. Many lands that had once been swamps were drained or filled in. There are different reasons why people drained swamplands. Some were drained to fight diseases caused by insects that lived in them. Because swamps were considered unpleasant places in which to live and harmful to health, many people thought that unless they were drained the land was worthless. Other swamps were drained to make new land. As the population grew and more land was needed, people drained swamps or filled them to make room for more farms and factories, more roads and airports. Few people thought that it might be harmful to get rid of swamps. As swamps disappeared, other things happened. There were both more floods and more droughts than before. There were also more fires, for swamps had acted as firebreaks. Hunters noticed that there was less wild game. Wild life that once lived in the swamps was dying out, because it had no place to live.

Are you taking the exam in English? This means that you need to master such a difficult section as speaking, or the oral part. These are tasks C3, C4, C5 and C6 in the USE version. Graduates make the most mistakes in these assignments.

We have prepared for you two real USE tests in English and examples of how these tests are performed. Each of them has 4 tasks. On this page - Test 1

Task C3 - reading.

Task 1. Imagine that you are preparing a project with your friend. You have found some interesting material for the presentation and you want to read this text to your friend. You have 1.5 minutes to read the text silently, then be ready to read it out aloud. You will not have more than 1.5 minutes to read it.

There were also more fires, for swamps had acted as firebreaks. Hunters noticed that there was less wild game. Wild life that once lived in the swamps was dying out, because it had no place to live.

Task C4 - compose questions.

Task 2. Study the advertisement.
You are going to visit Japan this summer and you’d like to have more information about the flights to Japan. In 1.5 minutes you are to ask five questions to find out the following:

1) departure dates
2) travel time
3) return ticket price
4) discounts for students
5) buying the ticket online
You have 20 seconds to ask each question.

An example of completing the task:
1. What are the days of departures? (What are departure dates?)
2. How long will it take to travel?
3. How much does the return ticket cost? (What is the price of the return ticket ?,
How much is the return ticket?)
4. Do you offer any discounts for students? (Are there any discounts for students available?)
5. Is it possible to book the ticket online?

Task C5 - description of one picture.

Task 3. Imagine that you are showing pictures of your pets to your friend. Choose one photo to present to your friend. You will have to start speaking in 1.5 minutes and will speak for not more than 2 minutes. You have to talk continuously. In your talk remember to speak about:
when you took the photo
what / who is in the photo
what is happening
why you took the photo
why you decided to show the picture to your friend
Don’t forget to start with “I have chosen photo number ....”

Example of completed task C5:

I have chosen photo number 1.
To begin with, people keep pets for different reasons. They make our lives more exciting and become the members of our family. They can also be our closest friends forever.

I took this photo last summer in our country house. We have got several pets and this dog is among them. All our pets are friendly and cute creatures.
Let me tell you a few words about this photo. In the background you can see a wonderful Russian landscape. In the foreground there is a wonderful lawn framed with lovely birches and bushes. In the center you can see my elder sister Sveta and our dog Snowflake. We called him so because he is as white and fluffy as snow.
The weather is fine, sunny and warm. Snowflake likes to go for a walk very much. In the photo Sveta is telling him something to keep him calm. You can’t see me as I am taking the photo.
Taking this photo I wanted to start a collection of our pets ’pictures and to display it on the wall in our living room. Besides, the photos will always remind us of our pets.
I decided to show this picture to you because you told me a lot about your dog. Now it's my turn to give you the first impression of my pet. Isn’t he friendly and cute?
I believe when you come to our place, Snowflake will accept you as his best friend.
That is all I wanted to tell you about this photo.

Task C6 - comparing and contrasting two photographs.

Task 4. Study the two photographs. In 1.5 minutes be ready to compare and contrast the photographs:
give a brief description (action, location)
say what the pictures have in common
say in what way the pictures are different
say which kind of life you’d prefer
explain why

You will speak for not more than 2 minutes. You have to talk continuously.

Example of completed task C6:

In our modern world some jobs are very important for our society.
Here are two pictures to compare and contrast on the topic. This is a photo of a man doing his job outside and that is a photo of a policeman standing on the side of the road.
These two pictures show jobs and this is the first similarity. The people in both pictures are wearing uniforms, and that is also what these pictures have in common. The weather is rather warm.
However, pictures are somehow different. The main difference is that in picture one we can see a worker, while in picture two there is a traffic policeman. Also, their actions are different: the worker is paving a sidewalk and the policeman is on duty watching the traffic on the road.
As far as I am concerned, the job of a traffic policeman (cop) is more important for the society because people of this profession are responsible for our safety and order on the roads. Besides, they control all drivers to keep and obey traffic rules. It is very important for all drivers and passengers ’lives.
I’ve come to the end of my speaking. Thank you for listening.

Today I will share with you those well-known and most successful simulators that are available to prepare for the oral part of the exam and exam.

Benefits with a ready-made electronic trainer

I would like to say that the oral part itself in the exam appeared not so long ago, but any interactive simulators for preparing for it were not developed as quickly as the innovations in the exam. The pioneer in this direction was, probably, the manual by Pochepaeva / Nemykina with their simulator, which cannot be called absolutely ideal, but still at least some kind of imitation of the exam and an approximate vision of what to expect. Most teachers and tutors know about him and have dealt with him.
But I liked the simulator of the manual of Mishin A.V. more. ... A wonderful thing and attractive for the price. The most budgetary option, in my opinion, is worthy of your attention. Let's consider it in more detail. You can get it by downloading from the site "Education" , but activating it is possible only by purchasing the manual "Oral part", because. it contains the coveted code.

Entering the same code, we see the following:
we need to configure the equipment, namely, connect headphones and a microphone to a computer or laptop (it's good when they are 2 in 1). After that, a green checkmark will light up when the connection is configured. Next, we are presented with the main page
with a choice of mode. First we will read the instructions, then we will go through the training and the last one is a mode with a simulation of an exam in real time without any delays. First, let's go to the training mode (the instructions can be read if desired, everything is clear and simple there).
... Here we see that there are 5 options. We choose any one for training.
... Each option consists of 4 oral tasks. We begin to train from the first and, as we know, this is reading a passage of the text.
reading is given no more than 1.5 minutes. As soon as we click the Your answer button, our voice will be recorded on the recorder. If we click on the sample answer button, we can hear the reference answer. And by clicking on the finish task button, we go to the reverse menu and select the next task.
... What's great about this simulator is that there are samples of verbal responses and this is really a big plus.
In the third task of the three proposed photos, we choose one and also describe it under the record. In the fourth task, you need to compare two pictures.
... After training all the options, you can safely go to the Exam mode, where already
after the countdown in the start mode, a simulation of a situation close to the real exam begins.

This section of the simulator runs in an autonomous mode with a strictly allotted time of 15 minutes and with automatic transition from one part of the exam to another. This is a kind of good training for the student before the exam, so that he feels the time and can control himself.

The second simulator, which has become available now and it is very convenient, is a simulator from the Macmillan publishing house.
... The fact is that it was available only with the purchase of a certain allowance. And as I wrote in previous articles, if you remember, I was very pleased with the purchase of the textbook "Listening and Speaking" new items of 2016. Using a special code on the flyleaf
you can use a convenient simulator to prepare for the exam. It aims to improve vocabulary and grammar skills. But the disadvantage was that there was no access to the oral part of the simulator. But since about September this year, the publishing house has opened access and now, it's great ... that you can use it.

So, what does it look like: We are presented with an interface where it is planned how much time is given for training each part of the task. After that, we open the first task and see

a small instruction. After that, the text itself and the voice recorder icon below, when you press the record button, the recording starts and, accordingly, the time report. After reading the text, the record can be saved to your computer.
... Everything is the same with other sample tasks. There are no reference answers (samples) in this simulator.

... By the way, in your personal account on the Macmillan website, you can create a group of your students and check their oral answers, and then set a mark - passed. You can find out how it works by looking video recording.

Independent electronic trainers

Next official the simulator for preparation for the oral part of the exam and the exam IS LOCATED. This site
training station for verbal responses, also with a countdown. It is official, as from the fipi base. Here you can also train for the OGE. About, OGE .... The previous simulators can be used only when performing the first task - reading the text. But on the site fipi, what is not a simulator when performing a task - answers to questions from an answering machine. It is also convenient and you don't need to invent anything. It's simple. For training the third task from the OGE (monologue statement), you can use your mobile phone with the same dictaphone. There is still no separate simulator for the OGE.

For today, perhaps everything! I hope it was useful to you!

Best regards, Nadezhda Bordacheva!
