Japanese style bedroom interior design. Japanese Bedroom Decoration: Grounded Elevation

The bedroom is the most comfortable and atmospheric room in the house. Close attention needs to be paid proper organization space. Thanks to the introduction of the smallest details, you can radically change appearance rooms. The eastern direction allows you to improve the energy of the room in which a person finds his salvation after a difficult working day. It is in this room that you can fully relax and unwind, both body and soul.

Eastern philosophy is aimed at the unity of the soul with nature. This is precisely what underlies Japanese minimalism, which is actively being introduced into the interior. Just a few basic shades, simple and uncomplicated shapes and natural materials - this is how this design direction can be briefly described.

To decorate your bedroom in a traditional way Japanese style, you need to truly love the culture of this country. When decorating a room with your own hands, you don’t need to rely only on photos; it is important to take into account some rules.

The main aspects that characterize the Japanese style in the bedroom:

  1. The eastern direction is based on minimalism. It manifests itself in color combination, use of furniture, use of accessories. Negative energy, accumulating in the room, will linger in it due to large quantity items. Therefore, avoid clutter in the room.
  2. Bedroom functionality. It is necessary to correctly fit furniture into the room (bed, wardrobe, mirror, bedside tables - this is the minimum necessary) so that the space is not cluttered. If it is not possible to organically place what you want, the design turns out to be overloaded and, as a result, the first point on the list is violated.
  3. Harmony with nature. The priority is to use only natural materials. On a subconscious level, natural shades and textures contribute to complete unity with soul and body.
  4. Quick transformation of the room. As you know, Japanese houses have unique feature: they, like houses of cards, consist of panels that can be easily rearranged to another place. In fact, one room can turn into several others. This is the principle that should be followed in city apartments.

Regarding the last point, about dramatic changes in space, as in Japanese houses, and there is no question. But there is a wonderful alternative - the use of retractable interior doors or partitions. They are used for zoning space and perfectly delimit the room.

Any room design implies external finishing three components: floor, walls and ceiling. The right combination of materials and colors allows you to make the interior unique and unique, taking into account the chosen style.

When decorating a room, adhere to the following rules:

  1. The floor should be made of wood. In the event that financial resources do not allow the use of natural materials, linoleum with imitation wood is suitable.
  2. The walls are made airy and light by installing rice paper curtains. In real life, it is not possible to use such materials due to the operational qualities of apartments (temperature changes), so they are perfectly replaced by photo wallpapers with images of bamboo or wooden panels. Modern solution– covering the walls with plain fabric.
  3. The ceiling must be perfectly flat and smooth. This effect can be achieved using suspended ceilings. Modern technologies allow you to apply an image to the canvas. In particular, with a photo corresponding to the oriental theme, in order to recreate the interior in the bedroom to the maximum.

If you follow all the above conditions, then using the right accessories and pieces of furniture you will get a very romantic bedroom in which two loving hearts will never be bored.

To avoid cluttering the room with cabinets, purchase a small bedside table. Personal belongings will be conveniently located on it, and it will not get in the way under your feet.

Pay close attention to lighting. The bedroom is a place for privacy and relaxation, which means there is no place for excess light. If this room is used as a living room, then it is worth thinking about separate lighting, implemented using a switch.

As for furniture, it should be functional, but at the same time not pretentious and simple. Since the Japanese sleep on the floor on small mattresses (futons), this is reflected in modern design. Low beds without legs fit perfectly into the interior. Some bedside tables and a small closet - what else is needed for comfortable life? It is worth noting that the furniture should be as simple in shape as possible and made of natural wood.

Designers, trying to accurately recreate a Japanese-style bedroom in Russian apartments, resort to installing a special structure - a platform into which the mattress is placed. Visually, it turns out that the bed is on the floor. Choose suitable model Beds from many options will help our review with reviews:.

If all design is subject to the strict use of only natural materials, then this also applies to the choice of curtains. They perform protective function premises, hiding secluded corners from prying eyes at any time of the day. Curtains must be opaque but consistent general design and be in one color scheme with walls and ceiling.

Photos of Japanese-style bedrooms with your own hands: an oriental atmosphere in the apartment

In any design, great attention is paid to detail. For example, when decorating a Japanese-style bedroom, add required attributes, emphasizing oriental culture. These could be fans, swords and daggers mounted on the wall, talismans and figurines, large dolls on the shelves. Even bed linen can be purchased in the appropriate theme with the image of hieroglyphs.

When implementing a Japanese-style bedroom, do not forget to add details to the room such as:

  1. Small artificial waterfall or aquarium. Water is a symbol of the influx of money, so very often these items can be found not only in oriental designs, but also in bedrooms with a different direction.
  2. Houseplants. It is recommended to buy the real thing bonsai– bonsai. But few people can find time to care for this plant, so it’s better to get by with ordinary indoor flowers.
  3. Paintings with Japanese characters. Full-fledged appearance rooms are created by adding reproductions of sakura or traditional symbols.

Accessories that should also be present in a Japanese interior are: aroma candles. This item is not included in the general list, since not everyone enjoys aromatherapy sessions. But the spreading aroma from candles can calm or set you at ease. romantic evening, depending on the aroma.

The Japanese style, although it does not have a lot of fans, is still used to transform the apartments of Russians. The reasons why the choice is not given in favor of this bedroom design are simple - lack of dimensions to implement ideas and the high cost of natural materials. A small room is not entirely suitable for the Japanese style, since the design implies spaciousness and freedom.

Japanese style bedroom design (interior photo)

Entering the house of a modern Japanese, it is difficult to determine how rich he is if the interior is designed in Japanese style:

  • The bedroom decor is quite ascetic and does not tolerate excesses. This is a kind of protest against the philosophy of consumerism, a way to get rid of everything unnecessary.
  • The design of the bedroom absorbs all the best from Japanese culture, so it is recognizable at first glance, although the interiors differ from each other.
  • In Japan, despite the fast pace of life, nature and art are traditionally valued, which is often reflected in the interior of the bedroom.

Bedroom color

To decorate the bedroom, a natural palette is chosen: beige, brown, white, grass colors. The interior is diluted with shades of red: pink, cherry. IN modern world Japanese design undergoes some rethinking, but the main features remain bright hues, naturalness and harmony.

Beige walls are a classic option, this is especially true for a small Japanese-style bedroom. To prevent the room from turning into a monochromatic “box,” the design is diluted with contrasting details in dark brown tones.

Warm green and red shades are used if the bedroom lacks expressiveness. Textiles or one wall painted in a rich color can serve as accents.

The photo shows a Japanese-style bedroom, decorated in chocolate and creamy tones. Orange pillows serve bright accent, enlivening the situation.

In oriental design, the combination of black and white is popular, reflecting the balance between Yin and Yang - the feminine and masculine principles. This type of interior is often chosen modern people, although the monochrome palette is quite traditional; Thanks to the contrasts, the Japanese bedroom looks more dynamic and spacious.

Materials and finishing

Interior design in oriental style involves the use of natural materials. Artificial analogues are also acceptable, since they operational properties often better.

The walls are laconic Japanese bedroom covered with paint or wallpaper. To add texture, you can decorate the space wood panels or decorative plaster. One of the popular and environmentally friendly solutions is natural bamboo sheets that are glued to the wall.

On the picture accent wall with painting on an ethnic theme: cherry blossoms and ancient Japanese architecture.

Perhaps the most recognizable element of a Japanese bedroom is the sheathing. It is used in the decoration of ceilings and walls. In eastern interiors it is impossible to find a round or multi-tiered ceiling: it has a rectangular shape, sometimes complemented by beam structures or wooden cladding.

Since residents of the Land of the Rising Sun prefer to walk around the house barefoot, wood or its analogues - parquet or laminate - are used as flooring. Ceramic tile much colder, so without a “warm floor” system it is not so popular.

Selection of furniture

The central element of a Japanese-style bedroom is a low bed, the design of which welcomes minimalism. Straight lines without decoration, maximum - a soft back or headboard with an Asian-style pattern. The height of asceticism - high mattress on the floor instead of a bed.

Bedrooms are often equipped with a podium, which is especially appropriate in small rooms: The space under the bed can be used for storage. Low bedside tables are placed on either side of the headboard.

Owners of cramped rooms install mobile screens from wooden frames and translucent paper called shoji. They help to divide the space if the bedroom is supposed to workplace or dining room.

On the picture - sleeping area, organized on a wide podium. The second part of the room is reserved for a recreation area and clothing storage.

The furniture chosen is simple and functional, if possible from natural wood (walnut, ash, beech).

Small objects are hidden behind sliding doors cabinets, the facades of which successfully imitate shoji partitions. Wardrobe doors save space, and their decorative sheathing allows you to add an oriental flavor to the bedroom. In a Japanese room it is impossible to find massive “walls” and open shelves filled with books and souvenirs: the cabinet is built into a niche or occupies one of the narrow walls and does not attract attention.

Lighting

It is difficult to find a Japanese bedroom decorated in cool colors. The same goes for lighting: warm lamps with white or yellow lampshades are selected for the room, which give the room coziness and set the mood for relaxing holiday. Spot LED spots are rare guests here, but pendant lamps with soft diffused light – suitable choice. Garlands of round paper lanterns give a special mood.

It is worth paying attention to the interesting design of the table lamp in the second photo. Its lampshade resembles the rounded roof of classical buildings in Japan. This form is very popular in Asian interiors.

The photo shows translucent wall lamps and a composition made of hand-painted bamboo.

Textiles and decor

Art has always been at a premium in the distant Asian country, which is reflected in traditional Japanese houses.

Popular decorations include images of landscapes with cherry blossoms, cranes and Mount Fuji, as well as paintings and accessories with hieroglyphs. The wall can be decorated with a fan with ethnic patterns or even a kimono. Vases with ikebana, bamboo branches, and bonsai are appropriate. To decorate the headboard of the bed, you can simply use a shoji screen mounted on the wall.

But do not forget that the less decor is used in the bedroom, the more laconic and spacious it looks, and therefore more in line with the spirit of Japan.

The photo shows a bedroom in a modern Japanese style, the design of which is light and airy: light finishes, lathing, low furniture. The headboard is decorated with an autumn landscape, and the bed is decorated with a traditional bolster pillow.

Residents eastern countries love to decorate the interior with pillows different forms and sizes - square, round or in the form of a roller. Sometimes pillows can be seen on the floor: the Japanese use them as a seat. Carpets and bedspreads with an oriental theme serve only as finishing touches and, becoming the highlight of the interior, are more reminiscent of works of art than a utilitarian piece of furniture.

Natural textiles made of cotton and linen add sophistication to the bedroom and provide comfort to its owner. Fabric with unobtrusive prints looks picturesque and does not stand out from the overall color scheme.

Massive curtains with folds and lambrequins are unacceptable in the bedroom: the windows are decorated with light, airy fabrics or roller blinds and blinds.

As we see, character traits Japanese style can be successfully used in both spacious and small rooms. Thanks to its simplicity, functionality and natural materials, a Japanese-style bedroom will become a place where you can relax both body and soul.

A Japanese-style bedroom is a combination of sophistication and minimalism plus a philosophy unique to this small country. The Japanese believe that everything material is perishable, so the most important thing is convenience and closeness to nature. Japanese houses use only natural materials. Therefore, it is the bedroom decorated in this style that is becoming increasingly popular in Western countries, in Russia.

Interior features

Japanese interior fundamentally different from other oriental designs. These are not Arab countries with their bright colors, carpets and fabrics. The Japanese avoid many details, striving for practicality and freedom in space. The fewer things and furniture, the less fuss, says Japanese philosophy. Restraint and simplicity of interiors contribute to the development of spiritual harmony and will.

Japanese homes were formed under the influence of rather harsh natural conditions countries where only a third of the territory is suitable for life. Regular natural disasters (typhoons, tsunamis) did not allow the creation complex interiors. On the contrary, lightweight collapsible houses have saved the lives of many people more than once.

From all of the above, three basic principles of Japanese style can be formed:

  • Minimalism, absence, oversaturation of space help to leave worries outside the home or a specific room.
  • Naturalness materials that help emphasize closeness to nature.
  • Rationality. The functionality of the space implies the convenience of simple-shaped furniture built into the walls sliding wardrobes and other items convenient for use.

The main stages of decorating a room

First of all, you need to choose the colors in which the room will be decorated. Foundations are most often chosen from beige, white, cream, gray and black. They are complemented with various shades. Many bright, flashy colors should be avoided, but making an accent is quite possible.

Since in the Japanese tradition, walls in rooms are replaced by light partitions (shoji), made of light wooden frame and paper, in a bedroom decorated in this Asian style, you should use either light wallpaper, or wooden panels that will look like traditional screens. These materials can be replaced with special paint, onto which a stencil pattern can be applied. Another option could be natural fabric. The last method is considered the most expensive, but also the most comfortable.

In Japanese tradition, it is believed that the ceiling should be rectangular. Typically, ceilings are made using beam methods. Beams divide the pre-painted surface into segments correct form. Sometimes, after securing the beams, paper or fabric is stretched between them. You can make the ceiling suspended, but natural materials will fit more harmoniously into the interior. It is advisable to make the ceiling the same color as the walls, but harmonious differences that fit into the overall color scheme are allowed.

It is believed that the larger the sections into which the ceiling is divided, the more spacious the room appears. The beams must be made of materials that contrast with the ceiling itself.

Floor covering In Japanese houses, a lot of attention is paid, since it is customary to walk around the room barefoot. This applies to the bedroom to the greatest extent. Usually wooden floor covered with tatami. IN modern life This coating may wear out. It can be replaced with a carpet: either plain or with a pattern made in Asian style.

There should be no harsh light in a room decorated in oriental style. It fills the whole room, there is a lot of it, but it must be diffused. To create this effect, suitable paper lampshades or frosted glass. The boundaries of light and shadow with such lamps become not very clear, and the light itself fills the entire room. The Japanese practically do not use night lights and desk lamp to avoid harsh shadows. During the day, the rooms are flooded with daylight, and at night, ceiling chandeliers are turned on.

The light sources themselves are made from natural materials (wood, paper, less often glass) black and white flowers. Occasionally materials of other shades are used. Chandeliers should be geometrically correct in shape - round or rectangular, as required by the minimalism of the interior.

To give the room a more oriental flavor, instead of curtains on the windows, you should use special panel blinds made of natural fabrics - plain or with a thematic pattern.

The doors in the Japanese bedroom are made sliding, which significantly increases the living space of the room.

Furniture

The main item in any bedroom, no matter what style it is, is the bed. If the bedroom is decorated in Japanese style, then this piece of furniture should closely resemble a futon - mattress rectangular shape, which is preferred by the Japanese. There should either be no legs at all, or they should be low. It is possible to have a special podium for the bed. It is not forbidden to use small bedside tables.

Instead of bulky cabinets that take up space, the Japanese use wall niches that are covered with panels - in the manner of a wardrobe. It is possible to use small shelves for storing souvenirs. A small tea ceremony table will also transform your room.

An indispensable attribute in a Japanese bedroom is a screen screen. It can depict animals and plants made in the national Japanese style.

Japanese bedroom decor

Laconism and expressiveness are the basis of decoration eastern interior. The main task is to use various accessories without overloading the space.

Large fans or “samurai” swords will look good on the walls. It is possible to use paintings made in Japanese style. Traditional sakura can also decorate your bedroom walls.

On the shelves you can put figurines and dolls dressed in traditional kimono. The hieroglyphs printed on the various items. When planning to decorate your bedroom with any symbol, you should find out its meaning.

Small fountain from natural materials will add balance and harmony to the bedroom. The same effect can be achieved using a bonsai plant or a vase with a beautifully arranged ikebana arrangement.

Decorating a room beautifully is not an easy task. You need to select suitable furniture, accessories, decor, consider different variants finishing. All this should be beautifully combined with each other, and the room itself should be functional, comfortable and aesthetically attractive. An even more difficult option is to arrange the interior in accordance with the principles of a certain stylistic direction. Today there are many of them, for different tastes.

Oriental themes, especially Japanese style, always seem to be something mysterious, sublime, and sophisticated. This direction is perfect for decorating a bedroom.

Features of Asian style

The main criteria of Japanese style can be briefly outlined in almost two words – tradition and minimalism. The laconic design and the absence of lush decorative additions can be explained simply: Japan is very small and populous country. This could not but leave its mark on the formation of traditional oriental style in the design of premises. This style is perfect for small-sized apartments, such as Khrushchev-era apartments.

A Japanese-style bedroom is designed taking into account the following principles:

  1. Minimalism. Vacant space without a lot of decorative ornaments and accessories, allows you to create the most optimal conditions for relaxation and rest after a hard day at work.
  2. Naturalness. The closeness of man to nature is emphasized in every possible way with the help of natural materials used in finishing and interior design (wood, natural silk, bamboo, linen, cotton). The color scheme should also be close to natural (brown, green, dark red).
  3. Functionality. Proper arrangement of furniture, shelves, cabinets allows you to perfectly place all the necessary things and at the same time save a lot of free space.

Japanese design style is most suitable for people who are tired of the hectic life in the metropolis and strive for natural beauty and solitude. This style in the bedroom interior is also recommended for connoisseurs of laconic, simple design solutions.

DIY room decoration options

Traditional Japanese housing is very different from European living quarters. There are no heavy or massive walls. The zoning of the room is done using mobile screen partitions made of thin rice paper. Today, such screens can be used to decorate a bedroom in an oriental style or to divide a room into several separate corners, for example, for reading or sleeping.

To decorate the walls, materials used in light, soft colors are used. It can be:

  • wallpaper, for example, bamboo or textile. There may also be a paper version, decorated with Japanese characters or traditional ornaments (sakura, cranes, fans);
  • wooden panels(this design is very reminiscent of traditional Japanese sliding partitions);
  • textile;
  • dye(painted walls can remain plain or they can be decorated with a stencil design).

  1. Traditional Japanese architecture involves a ceiling shape in the form of a square or rectangle(the same applies to elements that complement and decorate the ceiling covering).
  2. Materials can be of both synthetic and natural origin. Of course, the second option (wood, fabric) is preferable.
  3. Bright hues. Ceiling and wall coverings can be made in identical color scheme, close to natural. Light, discreet ornaments can be used to decorate the ceiling.

The following are used as ceiling coverings:

  • beams(the ceiling is divided into regular rectangles using beams). They are simply attached to a painted ceiling or additionally covered with paper and fabric;
  • suspended ceiling(can be glossy or matte, plain or decorated with a delicate, discreet pattern);
  • suspended ceiling(ideal if ceiling profile presented in a contrasting color to the slabs).

The construction and design of floors in Japan is given very serious and important. One of the traditions of this country is walking barefoot, especially when it comes to the bedroom. Perfect option– natural wood covering (parquet, laminate). On top you can add a mat made of bamboo, rattan or matting. The disadvantage of these natural materials may be that they wear out quite quickly, so instead of them it is quite possible to use a bedside rug decorated with oriental ornaments.

Windows in a Japanese-style bedroom can be decorated using fabric blinds or light curtains made of linen, cotton or bamboo straw. They should be decorated with national oriental ornaments.

Color spectrum

Oriental style implies bringing a person as close as possible to his natural habitat. Therefore, the color scheme for decorating walls, ceilings, floors, decorations, accessories and furniture should be in these shades. These are the colors of the earth, plants, air, stone. The neutral palette can be diluted with brighter, contrasting inclusions. This could be textiles, a lamp, a screen or another interior element.

As the main background for wall decoration, you can use different shades of milk, sand, beige, and cream. The contours of black, burgundy, Brown. It is recommended not to use accessories, jewelry and textiles in toxic, rich colors.

Selecting and placing furniture

An oriental-style interior implies the use of one main accent in the room, without dispersing attention to several smaller elements. In the bedroom, such an accent is a bed or sofa. Traditional sleeping furniture should be low in height. A wide mattress should be placed on a podium or rest on small legs. There should be no lush headboards, walls or armrests.

Nearby you can place a bedside table for tea drinking and a small bedside table. It is better not to use bulky cabinets and racks. Sliding wardrobes or built-in cabinets/niches are useful for storing things.

Light, durable materials of natural origin (wood and bamboo) are used to make furniture. For upholstery, you can use cotton or natural silk.

Lighting

The bedroom should be well lit. During the day - with the help of natural light, in the evening stylized lamps will come to the rescue. In this case, the lighting should be sufficient, but not intrusive, but muted and diffused. To do this, you can use paper or textile lampshades, frosted lamps, and special light diffusers.

As for specific light sources, these are, most often, not floor or tabletop models. Ceiling lamps They emit very soft, dim lighting without sharp transitions from light to shadow. Can be used Spotlights or LED strips around the perimeter of the room.

Japanese lamps are usually made in clear, simple forms and are painted black, white, brown or yellow. Lanterns can be paper, bamboo, textile, glass.

Decor

Since the main idea that runs through everything related to the oriental style is minimalism, then There should be few accessories and decorations in the interior. However, they are definitely present. Therefore, their choice must be approached especially carefully. Each of them should give the interior expressiveness and sophistication.

Open shelves or tables can be decorated with porcelain plates with dried rose petals or other flowers. These can be scented candles or porcelain figurines.
