What goals should you have in life: a list of main goals.

Good day, dear readers of my blog! We discussed the need for goal setting many times, learned to do it correctly and point by point, adhering to the plan and classification. And today, for example and motivation, I have prepared a list of 100 goals in a person’s life, some points of which may be useful and inspiring to you. After all, if you remember the article “”, such an irresponsible and unconscious way of life can lead to depression. And so, when there is a plan for many years, there is no time to even get sick.

Basic Rules

For successful , harmonious development and advancement, and this is precisely why a person sets a goal, I have identified 5 main areas, ignoring which will not provide a feeling of fullness and quality of life. The main rule is not to keep this list in your head; you must put it on paper. This will add responsibility to the process, and will also remind you of some things that can easily be forgotten when trying to fulfill your most pressing dreams for a given period.

The list can be hung in your room or office so that it is in front of your eyes, or kept from prying eyes if there is information that you do not want to share with others. I wrote down other people's goals, they can serve as examples for you, because everyone has different interests and needs. Just try on each item for yourself and listen whether it suits you or not.

Let me remind you that I write about my goals.

Life is very multifaceted, so add your own areas, your own options, and to speed up the process of realizing your desire, I recommend reading the article. Don't forget to subscribe to blog updates.

Whenever possible, I write reports on achieving my goals, perhaps you will be interested or you will simply decide to support me with a comment on the article. to my articles about moving towards goals. Good luck to you and make your dreams come true!

Can you imagine orbital station, which is launched simply to fly into space? What about an ocean liner that is sent on a voyage just to float? This is hardly possible. Both the space station and the ship have clear goals, and they are known long before they launch into space or release the mooring ropes. If we talk about business, then, unfortunately, quite often companies either do not formulate goals at all, or operate with such non-specific things as “increase profits”, “work faster than competitors”, “improve production”, etc. As a result, if we return to the analogy with a ship, the liner is on full speed ahead goes into the open ocean, trying to move faster and faster than someone else. You need to build a planning system in your company “smartly,” and this article will tell you how to do it.

What should the goals be?

In order to achieve a goal, it is important to clearly understand where, at what speed and in what way you need to move. If shooters were asked to shoot “in that direction” instead of the so-called ten, it would hardly be possible to accurately hit the target. That is why any goal must be clear, specific and measurable. During trainings and seminars, I usually use a target icon to indicate goals. As I have seen over several years of practice, such a graphic symbol allows people to create a visual anchor that reminds them that the goal must be clear and specific.

Rice. 1

A lot of books and articles have been written about how to correctly formulate goals and objectives. In addition, every day different corners Russia hosts both corporate and open seminars, trainings and webinars on issues of effective goal setting. Despite all this, the problem of competent goal setting in business still remains relevant.

While people are reading an article or attending a training session, they remember that each goal should be clear, specific, measurable, etc., however, when immersed in the hustle and bustle of daily affairs, they very often forget about this.

Communicating on this topic with employees and managers of various companies, I heard many times that remembering all the SMART criteria (the goal must be Specific, Measurable, Attractive, Realistic, Time framed), CHIRKORYA (i.e. Clear, Measurable, Realistic, Specific, Defined in time and space, formulated in terms of Result, in the Language of the performer) and the like are quite difficult.

This can be overcome by using the Russian analogue of these goal setting technologies – the “VODKA” principle. Its name has an alcoholic connotation and may initially cause some negativity, but it is the popularity of the drink that is in tune with the principle that allows people to quickly and effectively remember what the goal should be. During trainings, seminars and consulting, I have been convinced of this more than once.

According to the mentioned principle, the goal should be:

  • Inspiring;
  • Determined in time;
  • Achievable;
  • Specific;
  • Measurable.

By applying the listed principles, any amorphous goal can be formulated correctly. So, for example, a very vague goal “to find a warehouse” can be given next view: “Before February 23, 2013, find warehouse space(with an area of 500 to 550 m2), located in the Central district of the city of Ensk, and enter into a rental agreement for this premises with a rent of no more than 100,000 rubles. per month excluding VAT".

Planning horizon

All company goals can be divided into long-term (three to five years), medium-term (one to three years), and short-term (from a month to a year). Sometimes they are called strategic, tactical and operational, respectively. It is good when planning is carried out in each of the specified time ranges, however, in my opinion, strategic goals are especially important.

If the company's planning horizon contains guidelines for several years in advance, then the accumulation and use of resources is carried out based on the long-term goals of the organization. If there are no long-term goals, then the company's resources are spent chaotically and arbitrarily - in favor of today's fashion or the interests of individuals. The results in the first and second cases will differ greatly - just as the achievements of two young people usually differ, one of whom is confident in the importance of planning and has goals (enter a university, learn a foreign language, pass an exam for a driver’s license, etc.). etc.), and the second is convinced that you need to live for today, “hang out” and not “bother” with anything.

The presence of strategic goals creates the opportunity to competently set tactical and then operational goals. Just as all state legislation develops and regulates in more detail the key points enshrined in the Constitution, with the help of tactical and operational goals, intermediate bridges are created between the current and future (by the time long-term goals are achieved) position of the company.

In addition to increasing the efficiency of resource use, having long-term goals and strategic planning allows for greater stability and sustainability of the organization. This is due to the fact that long-term planning involves assessing the company’s possible risks on the way to achieving strategic goals and developing appropriate measures to avoid risks or reduce the likelihood of their occurrence.

Areas of Goal Setting and Planning

Very often, a company’s goals relate only to sales: increase the number of transactions, develop a neighboring regional market, attract new customers, outbid competitors, etc. Of course, sales are one of the most important aspects business, however, it is probably wrong to limit ourselves only to them. In any business, there are other areas that need to be paid attention to, that is, goals should be set not only in the field of sales, but also in the field of finance, production, service, personnel management, etc.

Setting diverse goals allows you to create a multidimensional picture of the result that the company strives for. Most owners have their own vision regarding not only how much money they need to make from the business, but also how their company should be perceived by clients and partners, what principles should guide its staff, what the company's usefulness is for clients and society, and etc. In order to bring the vision of the company owner to life, you need to set goals both in sales and in other aspects of the business. In some cases, focusing only on sales and ignoring other areas creates a threat to the normal functioning of the company.

Practical example. One company involved in the trade of building materials has set a goal to organize sales of its products for a certain (very ambitious) amount per month. The head of the commercial department was appointed responsible for achieving the goal. He put in a lot of effort, and the number of supply contracts concluded by his employees increased several times. But as an addition, the company was faced with the fact that the employees of the warehouse and delivery department were overwhelmed with work, since the number of obligations assumed by the company to clients under supply contracts did not correspond to its capabilities in terms of logistics, finance, etc. As a result, conflicts began with suppliers, customers and transport companies. In addition, the company's receivables (including overdue and doubtful for collection) increased several times.

In addition, setting goals relating to several areas of business allows you not only to achieve a certain financial result, but also to form a business system in which each element has a clear development vector that helps the company move. If formalized goals are set by the owners and management only in the field of sales, then all other areas of the business are actually left to the staff who can set goals, contradictory friends friend, or not install them at all and simply create an imitation of hectic activity, without a focus on achieving any real and useful results for the company.

Common mistakes when setting goals

If the owners and management have realized the importance and necessity of setting clear, measurable, etc. goals, as well as implementing a planning system, then the company begins the process of setting goals.

Quite often, organizations just starting to formalize their goals make several common mistakes. Among the most common (in addition to setting vague, immeasurable, etc. goals), three can be identified.

Error one: The company sets goals that have almost already been achieved. The value of such planning is only that you can put a tick - the goals have been achieved. However, it doesn’t really help business in any way. One of the most significant reasons for this approach to goal setting is management’s lack of faith in achieving them, that is, lack of faith in both their own strengths and the capabilities of the staff.

Error two: the company sets goals that conflict with each other (either require a large amount of resources, and they are not enough to achieve several goals at once, or set multidirectional vectors of the company’s movement). The reason for this situation, as a rule, is either the desire to achieve everything at once, or the inability to prioritize. If a company formulates a sufficiently large number of goals for itself, the need to prioritize (that is, determine the most important goals) becomes vital. Otherwise, the organization may achieve a dozen minor goals, but at the same time miss two or three main ones, on which the normal functioning and development of the company depends.

Error three: setting goals that no one is working to achieve. All company goals must be transformed into subgoals and objectives, and it is important that the corresponding structural unit or executive companies. If the goal is formalized, but there is no person responsible for its implementation, then in 99% of cases it is not achieved. When “the whole team”, “the whole company”, “all employees”, etc. are responsible for this process, a situation arises, as in the well-known proverb: “Seven nannies have a child without an eye.” In addition, it is important to adjust the company’s existing motivation system to introduce a system of goal setting and regular planning. It is necessary to use both monetary (payment of bonuses) and moral forms of stimulating staff to achieve goals (awarding certificates and diplomas to distinguished employees; publishing information about the company’s successful achievement of its goals and distinguished employees in a corporate publication; posting information about employees who regularly achieve their goals , on the honor board, etc.).

Setting goals is not the end of the planning process, but its beginning

Having ensured that goals have been set, many managers and owners breathe a sigh of relief: they say, finally, “the revolution that the Bolsheviks talked so much about has come true.” However, in fact, the company’s formalization of its goals is not the end of the planning process, but only its beginning, for at least two reasons.

Firstly, the process of achieving a goal is not simultaneous, therefore, the company needs to periodically allocate resources, monitor the implementation of planned actions, monitor the pace of progress towards the desired result, etc. In addition, depending on the internal and external changes that occur, it is necessary to make changes to this process adjustments that may concern the characteristics of the goal itself (quantitative and/or qualitative indicators, deadlines for achievement, etc.) or the method of achieving it. In addition, as a result of some events, the need to achieve a particular goal may no longer be necessary at all, and it is important to cancel planned activities in a timely manner so as not to waste the company’s resources. One of the markers indicating such a situation is the endless postponement of the deadline for achieving a particular goal.

Practical example. One company periodically held small meetings dedicated to optimization organizational issues, improving the supply of resources, etc. Based on the results of each meeting, a protocol was drawn up indicating decisions taken and intended goals. At the next meeting, the goal was set to buy a personal computer of a certain configuration for an archivist, whose position had recently been introduced into staffing table companies. The deadline for achieving this goal was clearly established. However, at the next meeting it turned out that all the goals set at the previous meeting had been achieved, except for the purchase of a computer for the archivist. Due to the fact that the deadline for achieving this goal had come, but the computer was not purchased due to a lack of funds in the company’s budget, we decided to move the deadline for its purchase to the next quarter. As a result, a year later, the computer was not purchased, but management drew attention to the fact that deadlines were endlessly postponed, and a decision was made to abandon achieving this goal.

Secondly, it is important to understand that the consequence of achieving the planned result according to the intended goals is the need to set further goals. This is the only way to ensure the constant movement and development of the company.

According to the concept of successful activities laid down in the ISO family of standards, as well as in a number of other management systems, all work should follow the PDCA algorithm, which is a cycle of four steps: Plan - Do - Check - Act (React). With that being said, this means that if Step 3, Check, finds that everything is fine and the goal has been achieved, then Step 4, Act, would be to move on to Step 1, Plan, and set new goals. . If at the third step, Check, it is discovered that circumstances have changed, then, accordingly, the fourth step, Act, will consist of going to step 1 Plan and making adjustments, that is, clarifying the previously set goal and plan to achieve it.

Below on rice. 2 a graphical diagram depicting the PDCA algorithm is presented.

A step-by-step mechanism for implementing a goal setting and planning system

It is important not only to prepare any innovations in the company, but also to implement them correctly. The process of goal setting and regular planning is no exception.

In every team there will be employees who support innovation and those who resist change with all their might. In this regard, it is important to think through and implement the process of formalizing goals and implementing a regular planning system in advance, carefully observing the course of events occurring at that time in the company.

Quite often, employees who are opposed to innovation behave this way not because of their own conservatism, but because they are afraid of the unknown or losing their job (due to the fact that they will not be able to achieve the goals set by the company). Often such concerns are associated not so much with the low competence of specialists, but with the low level of self-esteem of individual employees. Due to this competent work with staff in order to eliminate the situation of uncertainty, as well as create and maintain the necessary moral and psychological climate in the team, can help more effectively carry out the necessary changes in the company.

Practical example. In one company, the owners of which decided to bring order to it by introducing a system of regular planning and setting goals, rumors spread among the staff that since the founders of the company attracted consultants and began to actively study which of the employees was doing what and how the company's resources were spent, its affairs were bad. . The most active wave of anxiety was raised and supported in the team by those who were engaged not in work, but in imitation of vigorous activity. This led to the fact that one part of the staff began to look for new job, and the other reduced the intensity of her work, waiting to see what would happen next in the company. Only thanks to the competent actions of the management, owners and the hired consultant, aimed at explaining the procedure and reasons for introducing changes, as well as emphasizing the positive aspects for the team, it was possible to establish a normal atmosphere in the company and carry out the planned changes. As a result, only imitators of vigorous activity left the company, and all the rest were able to make sure that the introduction of regular planning and goal setting into the company’s practice would generally have a positive impact on the work and they had enough qualifications and experience to continue to work successfully.

In order to ensure the successful formalization of goals and implementation of the planning system, the following is required:

1) develop a clear and consistent plan for implementing changes in the company (it must include deadlines for the implementation of relevant actions, indicating responsible persons, etc.);

2) notify all personnel about what will happen in the company in the near future, why the planned changes are needed, when and in what order they will be carried out. Notification methods may be different, it all depends on the size and characteristics of the team, the geography of the company’s activities, as well as corporate culture. In one case, it is convenient and efficient to organize general meeting employees, in another – publication in a corporate publication, in the third – sending letters to employees’ email addresses, in the fourth it is optimal to use several methods of notifying staff. Whatever internal communication channel is chosen, it is important to colorfully present to the staff the positive aspects of the innovations and provide answers to the questions that most concern employees;

3) monitor the process of introducing innovations and, if necessary, adjust it. There is nothing worse than when a company has carefully prepared and started the process of some kind of organizational change, and then everything is left to chance. Almost always, what is left to chance does not happen as expected. In addition, the process of introducing a regular planning system into a company is, in fact, a test for competent goal setting and achievement.

And in the end I will tell…

To conclude the article, instead of the standard dry summary of the key theses described in it, I would like to quote a small fragment from the book “Alice in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll:

“Cheshire Cat,” she turned to the Cat very carefully, because she did not know how he would react to her words. The cat only smiled even wider.
- Phew! I’m happy for now,” Alice thought and continued more confidently. -Can you tell me how to get out of here?
“It depends where you want to get,” the Cat answered with a smile.
“I don’t care,” Alice sighed.
“Then it doesn’t matter where you go,” the Cat purred.

If the owner and/or manager does not set goals, then he either does not know where to lead the company, or he does not care what will happen to it. I believe that in your case everything is completely different: you value the company, and you want a decent future for it. If so, then be sure to set goals and do it wisely.

May the force be with you, as well as a successful business!

In continuation of our conversation about life without haste (see article) - a new trend of our era, a new look at your life, I want to say this.

The idea of “slow living” does not mean “doing nothing” while lying on the lawn. Against. Adherents of this lifestyle specifically choose a job that will NOT “take away” all their time, but only a small part of it. For what?

Yes, just in order to have time to do and try the most in your life. To have balance in life between work (business), personal life . To have more free time to communicate with family, to achieve your goals, to fulfill your desires. To make your dreams come true.

I was surprised that there were so few financial goals on this list. The first places are occupied by goals about travel, self-development, love and happiness. It's great that everything in the world more people we stopped listening to stupid advice at personal growth trainings that supposedly all people, without exception, should set inflated demands and goals for themselves and achieve them in order to become very rich. I think that such recommendations cause anxiety and do not bring happiness.

2. Why are goals needed in a person’s life (examples) and how can they change life?

There is, I would say, some kind of mysticism in this issue. Do you know what unites successful people who became happy because they did what they loved all their lives? They are united by a common quality inherent in all of them - determination and an irresistible desire to achieve their dreams or goals. All of them very early, even in childhood or adolescence, set themselves and wrote down a list of goals and did everything to achieve them.

An example is the life of John Goddard, a Guinness Book of Records holder, explorer and traveler, an outstanding anthropologist, holder of scientific degrees in anthropology and philosophy.

But don’t be embarrassed and compare yourself with this hero. Such people are the exception rather than the rule. It’s just that John Goddard’s example clearly shows how written goals help you live a more interesting and vibrant life.

How many goals should a person have? The more you write them on your list, the easier it will be for you to find your innermost desires and dreams, make them come true and become happy.

3. Which goals are more important, financial or goals of spiritual and personal growth?

This question is very similar to the question “What came first, the chicken or the egg?” Now I’ll explain why. Materialists will say that if you have money, you can easily realize all your dreams and achieve your goals. For example, start traveling around the world. To buy a house. Learn languages. Therefore, first you need to fulfill your financial goals - find a new job, build your own business, and the like.

For information: who are Materialists and Idealists. Materialists believe that matter is primary and gave rise to consciousness. Idealists, on the contrary, believe that consciousness is primary and it created matter. This contradiction is called by many the main question of philosophy.

But my grandmother always told me (without knowing it, she was an Idealist) that if God is in first place, then everything else will follow and will be in its place. She said: “You don’t have to wait for financial well-being to have a child. Because if God gives a child, he will also give for the child!”

Using logic, prudence, and pragmatism, it is difficult to understand this grandmother’s principle and even more difficult to apply it in life. Because it is difficult, impossible to explain it from a scientific, materialistic point of view.

But sayings and proverbs (I call them the quintessence of the centuries-old experience of our ancestors) seem to be trying to convey to us the knowledge and wisdom of previous generations.

This wisdom is based not on logic and pragmatism, but on observations of the connection between actions and events, both in the life of one person and entire generations:

  • Man proposes, but God disposes (Russian proverb)
  • Easy come easy go (English proverb “What is easily gained is easily lost”)
  • What happens happens at the right time (Chinese proverb “Accidents are not accidental”)

The list of proverbs from different nations can be continued indefinitely. But how can even these three proverbs of different nations be explained from the point of view of logic and materialism?

Based on these considerations and being an idealist, I compiled goals for myself in the following sequence: Spiritual improvement -> Personal growth and relationships -> Physical health -> Financial goals.

Spiritual improvement:

1. Don’t judge, watch your thoughts

2. Conquer your talkativeness, listen to others

3. Charity: transfer money monthly to those in need ( Orphanage, children's hospital, old neighbors)

4. Complete the house for parents, help parents

5. Help children until they get back on their feet

You can, of course, write all your goals in any order. Actually, this is how they should be written. I divided them into 4 groups to make it clear that in life we need to maintain a balance between goals for Business and Finance, Relationships, Health, and Spirituality. In general, I always write down all my tasks, goals, dreams in a row. Below in section 4 “How to make a list of your goals?” I will tell you about this in detail.

I gave my goals as an example only. They are different for everyone and change over time. For example, parenting goals are not on my list. This is because they have already been completed - our children have grown up and live independently.

4. How to make a list of your goals? 50 goals in a person's life list in the present tense

Working in large banks, on large IT projects, I completed many interesting trainings on psychology, motivation, stress management, time management, emotional intelligence, personal growth. At these trainings we were taught production techniques goals and intermediate tasks to achieve them.

But I especially liked this simple and effective technique:
  • You need to mentally “turn off your consciousness” and, without hesitation, start writing by hand on a blank sheet of paper all your desires, goals, tasks - large and small.
  • You need to write as much as possible, the main thing is to “don’t turn on your brain” and don’t stop.
  • Write down “today’s” problems, for example, “so that my son passes his test” or “take out the trash from the garage” or “buy for the new year live Christmas tree in a pot." And global ones, for example, “so that children choose professions they like”, “so that they successfully graduate from universities.”
  • Then break down your goals into short-term, medium-term and long-term. Also highlight the actual goals and what can be called tasks to achieve these goals.

By the way, I often came across this idea in the books of successful people, but did not attach any importance to it. They all say that it is important to write down desires and goals and this helps in some incomprehensible way to fulfill them.

If you are thinking about goals, then you will probably also be interested in this useful article. It will help you take a different look at your personal finance goals. After reading the article, you will understand how easy it is to provide yourself with a decent “pension”, without even waiting for retirement age! Be sure to pass on this simple but valuable knowledge to your children, because in our schools it is not customary to teach personal finance issues.

5. How to achieve goals, slowly and to the delight of yourself and your loved ones?

We know that everyone is different. They have different psychotypes, abilities, charisma, efficiency, intuition. That's why everyone lives, creates, realize their dreams and goals in DIFFERENT WAYS, based on their abilities and character.

Let's look at a small example. I will now describe the “portrait” of my successful friend:

  • He is an optimist, this helps him a lot in his business.
  • He has good abilities, but he is lazy.
  • At some moments, when he needs to get together and do something important, laziness recedes and he becomes assertive and purposeful.
  • He is also a very spontaneous person. If he gets excited about an idea, he immediately implements it without thinking. Because of this, there are often losses, but in general the job is done quickly.
  • He often relies on intuition and if something “doesn’t go well,” he easily puts it aside, knowing that in “due time” it will be done easily.
  • He does a lot of things absolutely selflessly, helping people.

Now you can roughly imagine (based on this characteristic) how my friend achieves his goals: sometimes lazily, sometimes impulsively, sometimes assertively and purposefully, sometimes relying on intuition. But he never goes against his nature, character, his moral principles. And this is the secret of his success.

Do you understand what I'm getting at? I want to say that we are all different and what you definitely shouldn’t do when achieving your goals is don’t break yourself. There is no need to drive yourself into a state of stress, no need to reproach yourself for being sluggish. And never go against the dictates of your heart and do something you don’t like just because everyone has such a goal on their list.

For example, I don’t like to exercise in the gym. Let everyone go, but I won’t, because I tried it several times and was convinced that it didn’t bring me pleasure, and therefore no benefit.

Don’t listen to anyone who says that you need to devote so much time to your goal each day, that you need to schedule everything by day and hour. In this case, you will turn into a slave to your ambitions. You need your goals in order to live an interesting life, love, be a happy person, and do what you love.

Live slowly, enjoy life, give up rushing at home, at work and in relationships with all people. To this idea of slow life Many progressive people from many countries have already come. And stop reproaching your children for their sluggishness the way your parents reproached you (I recommend an article on how to raise happy children and unleash their intellectual and creative potential:). Since we are talking about children, I also recommend that you read an article about progressive and about, which will be in demand in 10 or more years.

Conclusion: In order to start living a more interesting life, without delay, sit comfortably now and write, without thinking, as many small and big things, goals, objectives and desires as possible.

And then, if the mood strikes, you can divide them into financial, personal and others. For big and small. But I will tell you that I always write down my life goals, desires and dreams in a row. And I divided them today for the first time just for this article, so that it becomes clear what the goals are.

Do you like this approach to business? No tediousness! I like this new positive approach to life - do everything with joy, as your heart tells you!

Finally, I suggest you watch a wonderful video describing an ingenious and simple method, How to joyfully and effectively achieve results in 4 areas of life goals. I loved the idea of setting small goals along the way to big ones and celebrating each one's accomplishments! At the same time, cover all 4 areas of your life and set only one goal at the beginning. I'll take this one for myself cool idea for service!

I wish everyone inspiration and self-confidence!

See you soon!

Setting goals is the most important starting point in the management process. An organization is a complex multi-purpose system, closely connected with the surrounding world and having a comprehensive impact on it.

Managing such a system requires defining the entire set of goals and objectives that it must solve in its daily activities; the products it will produce and the markets it will serve; necessary resources to implement planned goals and ways to achieve them.

The goal function begins with establishing the mission of the organization, expressing the philosophy and meaning of its existence. It usually details the status, declares the principles of work and provides the most important characteristics organizations.

In management theory, a mission is considered as a very important statement by management, reflecting the socially significant intentions of the organization, as well as giving an idea of the scope of activity, key goals and operating principles, and the markets that are the focus of the organization’s interests. The main provisions of the mission, justifying the need for the existence of the organization for society, must correspond to the concept of social development.

System concepts more high level than the organization, as a rule, contain mission statements in the form of long-term development goals. For example, building communism or socialism in a particular country; constant fulfillment of religious canons and rituals as a condition for personal perfection in a deeply religious society; protecting the interests of the nation, etc. Formulations at the national level should be understandable and not contradict the deep interests and needs of the majority of people. The promotion of false conceptual positions and ideas of development that do not have philosophical and common sense (such as “perestroika”, “transition to the market”, “liberalization of the economy”) can captivate society only for a short time, after which they are rejected.

The lack of a unified and understandable development mission for society is one of the factors hindering overcoming the systemic crisis in the Russian Federation. The same applies to enterprises that, under centralized management, did not define their mission, but their goals and objectives were set and strictly dictated from above. Laws coming into force now market economy require certain rules behavior of economic entities. Among them is the publication of the organization's mission, which gives an idea of its purpose, necessity and usefulness for the environment, people and society as a whole. This was quickly realized by domestic organizations, which formulated their missions based on their own vision of future development.

The definition of a mission has not only an ideological meaning, but is also of a purely pragmatic nature. The mission helps companies achieve success if its provisions interest other organizations, suppliers, consumers, ordinary people, inspire trust and motivate their actions in relation to this organization. In addition, it should be vital for employees and mobilize people to take action to achieve their goals, unite them.

Management science has not developed any universal rules used in formulating a mission. There are only some general guidelines that management should consider. Among them we note the following:

the mission is formulated outside of time and frames, which allows us to consider it “timeless”;

the mission should not depend on the current state of the organization, forms and methods of its work, since it is aimed at the future and shows where efforts will be directed and what values will be the most important for the organization;

It is not customary for a mission to indicate making a profit as a goal, despite the fact that profitable work is the most important factor life of any commercial organization. But focusing on profit can significantly limit the range of development paths and directions considered by the organization, which will ultimately lead to negative consequences;

the mission is formulated by senior management, which bears full responsibility for its implementation by setting and implementing the organization’s goals;

between the organization's mission and more common system, of which it is a part, there should be no contradictions.

There are many approaches to defining the mission and its content, reflecting the assessment of the role and significance of the organization primarily by decision-makers. As already noted, the central point is the answer to the question: What is the main goal (purpose) of the organization? At the same time, it is preferable to put the interests, expectations and values of consumers (today and future) first.

An example is Ford's mission statement as “providing people with affordable transportation.” It clearly outlines the company's area of activity - transport, product consumers - people, as well as its focus on a wide range of consumers. Such a mission can have a decisive influence on the company's strategy and tactics, as well as public support for its activities. However, it lacks what companies began to pay attention to later - this is a focus on the fundamental differences of a given company from others, as well as on its desire to reveal the talents of the people working in it.

Management experts and leaders of many large companies believe that organizations should identify themselves in a mission not by the product or service they produce, but by their core purpose, that is, by definition: “who we are and how we differ from others.” In other words, what matters is not what a company produces, but what it stands for and what it will do in the future.

For example, Motorola defined its core mission as “using technology to benefit people,” rather than emphasizing that it makes network televisions or premium TVs. This formulation may seem quite broad and meaningless, but it provides specific choices about what to produce and to whom to sell. And this allowed the company to develop in directions that its competitors could not imagine, and thereby develop market immunity.

The use of the same approach ensured that foreign publishing houses producing monthly magazines (for women and men, as well as developmental and educational magazines for children) quickly spread to Russian market their products (they almost completely replaced our famous “Murzilka” and “Coloring Pictures” from the market). One of the reasons for their success is the promulgation of a simple and clearly expressed mission: for women's magazine“Lisa” is about creating the illusion that everything in this world is accessible, Cosmopolitan magazine promotes the idea of a woman’s right to self-determination, “Mickey Mouse” demonstrates the best after-school recreation. In accordance with this, magazines set goals and objectives, build content, implement innovative and marketing activities. Russian magazines, as a rule, do not yet have such strong and simply formulated missions as the basis of their publications, and this is one of the reasons that they are losing their position in the market (Expert, May 18, 1998, No. 18, pp. 60-63 ).

Many companies include provisions in their mission that emphasize value orientations, stimulate the work of staff and fill daily activities with meaning and awareness of its noble purpose for the benefit of people.

Thus, in the value system of the American company ZM there is an “eleventh commandment”, which reads: “Do not kill the idea of a new type of product,” and in the mission statement of one of the Japanese companies, such universal principles are emphasized as: “Achieving high excellence in all areas - in our goals, products, services, people and our lifestyle"; “Quality is an integral part of our products, our work environment and people”; “Honesty and openness, working as a team, free exchange of information”; “We want people to be able to say that our company is a great place to work and that it supports and recognizes individual achievement.”

In table Table 5.1 provides examples of various mission statements borrowed from the practice of domestic enterprises. They are united by brevity and clarity of expression of the main idea, along with a focus on a specific circle of consumers.

An example of another approach is the formulation of the mission (philosophy) of Kirov Plant OJSC (Table 5.2). In it, the plant’s management identified five main areas of activity to ensure its effective operation and development. These include not only consumer-oriented production, but also the interests of shareholders, business partners and employees, as well as concern for the formation of a stable, economically secure environment.

Vision and Goals

The mission forms the foundation for establishing the goals of the organization as a whole, its divisions and functional subsystems (marketing, production, finance, personnel, etc.), each of which sets and implements its own goals, which logically follow from the overall goal of the enterprise. An equally important point in goal setting in modern management is the determination of the main

pictures of the organization's development for the next 10-20 years or the so-called vision of what the organization should become for society in the foreseeable period.

The formulation of the vision is carried out by the top management or founders of the company, asking themselves the following questions:

What do we want our organization to be like in the future?

What is our business now and what will it be in the future?

Who are the consumers of our products (services) and what group of buyers will the organization target in the future?

In what ways are we going to add value to our customers?

The answers to these questions must be carefully thought out, since they are the basis for subsequent work to establish the goals of the organization.

Goals are a specification of the mission and vision of the organization in a form accessible to manage the process of their implementation. Philosophy of Kirov Plant OJSC The most important areas of activity Operating principles Production By purposefully improving products, expanding their range, maintaining the required level of output to meet the needs of the market to the maximum extent possible Capital Constantly and flexibly restructuring, increasing the efficiency of using share capital, increasing the return on shares Cooperation Sincerely treat business partners and actively work with them, expand the scope of business relationships Personnel Be attentive and sensitive to their requests and needs, promote increased productivity of labor External environment Contribute in every possible way to the formation of an economically and socially stable, environmentally friendly external environment Science and practice have developed requirements that need to be taken into account when developing organizational goals. This:

clear time frames for which goals are set (long-term, medium-term and short-term);

specificity of content and realistic achievability of goals;

consistency and consistency with other goals, as well as with the resources required to achieve them;

targeting (who? when? where?) and the ability to exercise control during the implementation of goals.

Grouping targets

Organizations are multi-purpose systems that simultaneously realize several key goals that are important to their existence. There is a close connection and interdependence between all goals, which allows us to consider them as a system of organizational goals. It includes goals of different levels, designed for different periods of time, differing in content, sphere of influence, significance, etc. To organize the entire set of goals, they are grouped (classified) according to certain criteria (Table 5.3).

One of the most important criteria is the time period for which goals are set. According to this criterion, three groups of goals are distinguished: Grouping of organizational goals Classification criteria Groups of goals Time period Strategic, tactical, operational Contents Economic, social, organizational, technical, scientific, political, environmental Priority High priority, priority, others Repeatability Constantly resolved, one-time (new ) Business environment Internal, external Organizational structure Goals of the organization, goals of departments Functional

subsystems Marketing, innovation, production, finance, personnel, management Life cycle stages Creation, growth, maturity, completion strategic, established for a long period (its duration varies depending on the state and sustainability of economic development from one year to 5-10 years);

tactical, which are the logical deployment of strategic goals and are set for shorter periods (from one to 3-5 years for conditions of stable development);

operational, representing the specification of strategic and tactical goals to the level of tasks that specific performers must solve in their daily work (within a year, six months, quarter, month, working day).

The key role undoubtedly belongs to the goals of strategic development, which determine the main goals of the organization for a long period. As noted above, their foundation is mission and vision statements; in addition, they should not conflict with the goals of higher-level systems (industry, region, country), which is an important condition their subsequent implementation.

During the period of socialist construction, the entire hierarchy of goals National economy subordinated to strategic goals established centrally on the scale of the entire national economy. In certain periods these were, for example, “Restoration of the national economy after the civil war”, “Industrialization”, “Implementation of five-year plans”, “Restoration folk economy after the end of the Great Patriotic War" The specificity of their formulations and national significance strengthened faith in the reality of their implementation.

In the transitional conditions of economic development, the lack of a common strategic goal makes it difficult for the Russian Federation to transition to a model of sustainable socio-economic development that ensures the coincidence of personal and state interests, the full development of people’s potential, and the achievement of social stability and security of society. As a result, the process of adapting our economy to new conditions may take so long that a noticeable part of the material and human capital will be irretrievably lost.

An important point in developing the strategic goals of an organization is the focus on customer needs, which often determines the success of the organization in intense competition.

Tactical and operational goals of the organization are characterized not only by a shorter time and planning horizon, but also by specification planned tasks, which most often receive a quantitative measurement, while strategic goals contain many purely qualitative objectives.

The grouping of goals by content is based on the diversity of interests of the organization. So, in commercial organizations economic interests prevail, that is, the desire to make a profit, provide dividends to shareholders and pay workers, etc. In accordance with this, the composition of the organization’s economic goals is formed, in which profit indicators play a key role.

Along with this, any organization sets goals that reflect the social interests of people (training and training of personnel, advanced training and promotion, relationships in the team, working conditions and content, etc.), planned organizational changes (in the structure of the organization itself and its management system ), transformations in the field of scientific research and technology, etc.

By significance, goals are divided into:

particularly priority (so-called key), the achievement of which is associated with obtaining the overall result of the organization’s development;

priority, necessary for success and requiring management attention;

the rest are also important, but non-urgent goals that require constant monitoring.

I. Ansoff calls the selection of goals according to their priority management based on the ranking of strategic tasks and proposes a scheme for establishing ranks. To do this, all tasks are divided into four categories: a) the most urgent and important tasks that require immediate consideration; b) important tasks of medium urgency that can be solved within the next planning cycle; c) important but non-urgent tasks that require constant monitoring; d) tasks that represent a false alarm and do not deserve further consideration. This work is carried out by senior management together with the planning service, after which urgent tasks are transferred to specialized units for study and decision-making, which are controlled by senior management from the positions possible consequences. Top management continuously reviews and updates the list of problems and their priority, while the tasks of the fourth group are “rejected” after appropriate analysis (Ansoff I. Strategic management. M., 1989, p. 56-57).

Grouping goals according to the criterion of repeatability is important for developing ways to achieve them. For permanent and periodically recurring goals, as a rule, methods are developed, resources and people are available who can implement them. For example, planning production costs is a routine, structured task that is solved at a known frequency, according to pre-developed instructions and using standard information. New or one-time goals require special attention from management, since to solve them it is necessary to re-create a methodological apparatus, train people, and attract new types of resources, including information.

The relationship between recurring and one-time goals in organizations is changing: under the influence of the rapid pace of change in the business environment, there has been a clear upward trend specific gravity new goals, which organizations try to balance by formalizing the solution of an increasing number of goals, solved with a certain repeatability.

In modern conditions, each company is connected by a variety of communications with other organizations that make up its business environment and have a direct or indirect impact on it. According to this criterion, all goals are divided into internal goals of the organization itself and goals related to its business environment - suppliers, investors, trade organizations, banks, insurance agencies, etc.

Grouping goals according to the criterion of the organization's structure allows, along with a group of goals for the organization as a whole, to identify and formulate the goals of its structural divisions. If the enterprise maintains a production-shop structure, then its own goals are established for each production and workshop as independently functioning units. With a divisional structure, goals are set for divisions specialized in products, markets served, or categories of consumers. The specificity of developing goals at this level consists, on the one hand, in the need for coordination with the strategic goals of the organization as a whole, and on the other hand, in taking into account the real possibilities of distributing tasks between structural units of the next, lower level. Decomposition of goals is carried out by moving from top to bottom. The logic of the goal-setting process emphasizes the importance of coordinating the efforts of the management apparatus in setting agreed upon and realistically achievable goals.

A functional approach to managing organizations requires establishing the goals of the work of all functional subsystems - marketing, production, personnel, finance, etc. Top and middle level managers take part in this process, who must coordinate their functional interests with the development goals of the organization.

Let us consider, as an example, the possible range of interests and goals of the functional subsystems of an organization.

Marketing directs its activities to create demand, and this determines the target orientation of this subsystem:

determining customer needs for the company’s products and services;

development and specification of new product parameters;

development of new markets;

distribution and delivery of products to consumers;

control over changes in consumer tastes and demand;

collection and analysis of information about the product;

Setting marketing goals is associated with a detailed study of supply and demand for products manufactured by the enterprise and designed. In addition, the situation in already developed and new markets should be carefully studied. Therefore, the work must be done qualified specialists in market research, forecasting and planning, possessing relevant information and methods for developing target models. The composition and number of these specialists depend on the ability of the enterprise to independently carry out this complex work that requires high professionalism. If opportunities are limited, it is necessary to attract external consultants, specialists in innovation, information technology, advertising, etc.

The production subsystem includes such types of organizational activities as:

receipt, storage and distribution of equipment and other means of production;

converting resources into final products;

storage and distribution of products;

after-sales service.

When establishing the goals of this subsystem, it is necessary to take into account the variety of types of work performed. Thus, pre-production preparation is associated with the acceptance of goods, raw materials, materials, storage in warehouses, and inventory management. The production itself requires the organization of the transformation process, assembly work, quality control, packaging, and maintenance of working systems. Work with final products (post-production logistics) is associated with the placement of finished goods in the warehouse, processing orders and delivering products to customers. After-sales service requires carrying out repair work, organizing the supply of spare parts

parts, accounting for malfunctions of final products, etc. The goals of this complex subsystem are established in the form of a system of indicators reflecting volumes, range and quality of products, productivity, costs, etc.

The subsystem associated with research and development implements the goals of innovation in the enterprise. Its target orientation is:

searching for new types of products and services to replace outdated ones;

determining the goals of scientific research and development;

introducing innovations;

modernization of all areas of the enterprise.

The personnel subsystem is aimed at working with the workforce and forms its own system of goals according to:

arrangement,

training,

promotion,

remuneration of workers,

creating a favorable climate and general interest in solving the problems of the enterprise.

The finance subsystem directs its activities to the organization:

financing,

lending,

fulfillment of tax obligations,

drawing up budgets (for the enterprise, its divisions and programs).

The management (administration) subsystem has as its key task the activation of workers to effective achievement goals of the organization, eliminating waste of time, resources, and talents. To do this, attention focuses on:

management interpersonal relationships;

organizing information flows within the organization and with external environment;

developing methods for making management decisions that ensure optimal use of human and other resources necessary to achieve the goals of the organization.

The goals of an organization change significantly at different stages of the life cycle: creation, growth, maturity and termination (decline). At the first stage, any company aims to:

enter the markets;

install business relationship with partners (suppliers, trade organizations, etc.);

find the necessary funds for starting activities and organizing a business;

For the second stage - growth - the priority goals are those that reflect its successful positioning in the market and satisfactory financial results. Among them we note:

further expansion of the field of activity and markets;

achieving stability and profitability, including through new areas of business;

improving the management structure, attracting qualified professionals in marketing, production, finance, etc.;

strategic planning of activities;

search for new financial sources to maintain growth.

At the maturity stage, the organization's goals are related to:

financial control;

using competitive advantages provided by scale and high growth rates;

further improvement of the management structure;

organization, introduction of new management systems and methods (for goals, quality, control, etc.).

The goals of the final stage of the life cycle are related to solving the following problems:

complete cessation of activity and, as a consequence, sale of property and dismissal of employees;

sale of the company to another owner and adaptation to the life cycle stage of the new organization.

Goal tree

The number and variety of goals and objectives of an organization are so great that no enterprise, regardless of size, specialization and form of ownership, can do without an integrated, systematic approach to determining their composition and relationships. In practice, this is done using the construction target model in the form of a tree graph - a tree of goals. The goal tree allows you to describe an ordered hierarchy of goals and objectives obtained as a result of decomposition main goal organizations (Fig. 5.3). The following principles are used:

the main goal, located at the top of the graph, must contain a description of the final result;

when expanding the main goal into a hierarchical structure of goals, the rule is observed: the implementation of the subgoals of each subsequent level is a necessary and sufficient condition for achieving the goal of the previous level;

the number of levels of decomposition depends on the scale and complexity of the goals set, the structure adopted in the organization, and the hierarchy of its management;

when formulating goals at different levels, you should describe the desired results, and not the ways to achieve them;

the subgoals of each level must be independent of each other and cannot be derived from each other;

The foundation of the goal tree should be tasks, which are the formulation of work that can be completed in certain ways and within a predetermined time frame.

Rice. 5.3. Tree of goals of functional subsystems by level (using the example of production)

The number of decomposition levels depends on the scale and complexity of the goals set, on the structure adopted in the organization, and on the hierarchical structure of its management. An important point in goal setting is modeling not only the hierarchy of goals, but also their dynamics, especially when developing strategic plans for an organization.

The target model of the organization is the initial basis for determining the volume and types of management work that ensure their achievement. It is the basis for developing a system of plans on the basis of which the next most important general function management - organization. Its task is to create real conditions for achieving planned goals. This is often associated with a restructuring of the organization and its management system to increase their flexibility and adaptability to the requirements of a market economy. New links are being introduced into the structure, including those related to the need to study the market and develop the organization’s strategy. Organization also includes dividing into parts and delegating the implementation of a common management task by distributing responsibilities and powers, as well as providing everything necessary - personnel, materials, equipment, premises, in cash and so on.

Hello, my dear readers! Today I want to talk to you about success and harmony in our lives. After all, we all want to be happy, to live a full, rich, exciting life, not to know about grief and illness. In fact, all this is real, you just need to take up and do everything possible so that the spheres of a person’s life always interact harmoniously with each other and develop simultaneously.

Our whole life is divided into several parts - spheres. Each of which is responsible for a specific area. When I was looking for information on this topic, reading books and articles, I was a little confused. Each source had different information, different quantities areas of life. But then it dawned on me that, in principle, a person himself can determine the parts of the balance wheel, which we will talk about in the following articles. For one person, recreation and hobby are the same thing, for another it is completely different states. But, nevertheless, there are obvious areas that must develop harmoniously, for example, health, career, self-development.

The main areas of human life

I will share my vision, but nothing prevents you from highlighting your areas that, in your opinion, play an important role in life.

So, there are such areas of life as:

  1. health and sports
  2. house, surrounding area
  3. career and finance
  4. self-development
  5. relationship
  6. rest, entertainment
  7. inner world

For you, they may have a slightly different look, for example, you can include travel, family, separate career from finance, add emotions and brightness to life. Because you know yourself, no one can know. Dig into yourself, write down desires, goals, dreams and create your own areas of your life.

The mistake of many people is that they develop only a few areas, or even one, for example, a career, forgetting about their health, leisure, children and wife. This creates an imbalance in human energy. Over time, this affects everyone around him, and his inner world suffers. This happens unnoticed, gradually. For example, a man is a careerist, he earned money all his life, worked day and night, tried to be financially independent, but after some time his strength dried up, because he did not care about his health at all and forgot what rest was, his wife took a lover, because he did not devote time to her, the children have grown up and cannot even remember the happy moments spent with their father. It's a sad picture, isn't it? I think no one would want to be in this situation

This happened for one reason, the illiterate use of one’s own and the definition of the main areas of life. Remember, if you want to be happy, you need to develop in all directions, no matter how much you want. Let you be more active in some places, more passive in others, but you owe it to yourself to allocate a certain amount of time for everything else.

Let's now look at all the areas separately, what they include and what they are responsible for.

Health and sports

Physical and mental health are the foundation of everything we have. If we don't have energy, we won't achieve anything in this life. The ability to move, do something, eat and drink is given to us by nature, but we must use all this correctly. , regular exercise is an endless source of health and longevity. Alcohol and smoking have ruined many good people who could become leaders and achieve success and prosperity.

Home and surrounding space

I pay special attention to this area, although some do not attach importance to it. Why? I don’t even suspect it, I probably don’t think it’s that important. But I think completely differently. The house and its atmosphere greatly influence internal state a person, one might even say inspires and relaxes at the same time. Competent is capable of releasing great amount time to solve other problems, especially for women who spend the most time in this area.

Career and finance

To be successful in your career, self-realization, and to become financially independent is the goal and dream of many of us. This is a very important area of life, although many deny it and claim that money does not buy happiness. I agree, you can find happiness in the little things, but it doesn't last long. In the era of television and modern technologies, we cannot want the minimum for ourselves. Having seen a film about nature, we have a dream of visiting this place; having seen a beautiful house with a swimming pool, we will certainly want to have the same one. This becomes a goal, and in order for it to come true, you need money, and money can be obtained with a successful career.

Self-development

This area often remains undervalued and untapped. In this concept I include reading books, studying, taking trainings, master classes, gaining skills, changing oneself, giving up bad habits. That is, everything that is aimed at improving oneself and achieving one’s goals, striving to get closer to one’s dreams.

Relationship

The ability to communicate, to build good relationships with loved ones, to communicate with colleagues and friends - all this relates to this area of life. Our society does not tolerate rude people and impudent people. Our family wants to have constant contact between all family members. Everyone loves honest, fair and worthy people. It is very difficult to become this way, but you need to strive for it. One of the human needs is communication, conversation, dialogue.

Recreation and entertainment

The name of this area of life speaks for itself. The ability to properly plan your vacation, relax and have fun is very important. You need to forget yourself, distract yourself from problems and think about yourself regularly. Everyone has their own concept of relaxation and entertainment. For some, relaxing means engaging in your favorite hobby, for others, soaking up the sun, for others, traveling to unusual places on our planet. Choose an activity that brings you pleasure.

Inner world

And the last area I would like to talk about is the inner world. It plays a huge role in setting our goals and objectives. This can safely include emotions, resistance to stress, motivation, and spiritual life.

In order to evaluate our life in all its spheres, set correct goals and objectives, correct mistakes and achieve harmony, it is necessary to create a life balance wheel, but read about how to do this in the following articles.
