If you spend a lot of time on the computer and need to check your email inbox regularly, it's best to set up a mechanical notification about the arrival of mail, so as not to miss the main letter.

1. If you have installed it on your computer operating system Windows 7, install the mail gadget - a small application that will be placed on the desktop. 2. After installing the widget, proceed to configure it. Enter your address and password in the appropriate fields, set the frequency of checking for new letters, select a sound signal to notify you when mail arrives.

3. In the settings of some gadgets you also need to specify the addresses of the POP3 and SMTP protocols. You will be able to find this information in the settings of your mailbox on the postal service website. In both business and individual correspondence, from time to time there is a need to send an email after the moment of creation. The procedure for setting up delayed sending of letters is simple, but not all Internet mail services provide this option. In particular, the famous mail service mail.ru does not have the necessary functionality.

Recently, one of our users asked if it was possible to set up notifications for the author of a post about new Disqus comments in WordPress. By default, only users who are added to the Disqus commenting system as a moderator or administrator will receive notifications of new comments. However, if you run a blog with multiple authors, you probably shouldn't give each author access to the Disqus account admin. Before you begin, make sure you have the Disqus commenting system installed on your WordPress site. Also make sure you haven't turned off automatic import of comments by visiting Comments » Disqus on your website.

Now you need to install and activate the Disqus Notify Post/Page Author plugin. It works out of the box and does not require additional configuration.

Problem solving

If you just added a test comment and haven't received an email notification, don't panic. It will usually take some time for Disqus to sync comments to your database. The plugin will only send a notification when the comment is synced and imported into the WordPress database.

Make sure that the email address associated with the author's account is valid. Also don't forget to check your spam folder. If you use a Google Inbox, the comment notification may appear in the Updates section.
