Fuel pump VAZ 2110 location. I'm looking for the cause of the fuel pump failure by checking the fuse, which is located

A situation where the engine stalls and the fuel pump on a VAZ 2110 does not pump can put a novice car enthusiast in a difficult situation. Especially if he doesn't know you well with fuel supply system and its configuration, as well as a list of equipment that ensures the normal functioning of this system.

The lack of fuel at the outlet fitting of the pump does not mean that it has failed.

The fuel pump on the VAZ 2110 does not pump not only because of its breakdown, since there may be several reasons for this behavior.

Now the main thing is not to panic and first of all remember when the car was refueled in last time . The indicator on the dashboard doesn't mean anything yet. The level sensor in the tank may “stick”, like the arrow on the indicator (see).

If the car is already more than 3 years old and has measured more than 100 thousand mileage with its tires, then you can expect any surprises from its systems and equipment in terms of failures.

Procedure for testing reasons for failure

Next to come under suspicion electrical wiring powering the pump. In the power circuit from the vehicle's on-board system to the electric pump motor there is a fuse link and a relay. They are not installed on the main fuse board, but on an additional one, which on the “ten” is placed under the front panel to the right of the steering control unit.

If you look at this additional block, the relay and fuse link for the pump motor will be on the left (there are only three sets of relays and fuses).

Checking the wiring does not require special knowledge and does not take much time. But if everything is normal with the power supply, further checking requires dismantling the pump housing.

Reasons behind the pump

The pump can completely stop supplying fuel only for two reasons:
  • burnout of electric motor windings;
  • to such an extent that the remaining diameter of the cross-section of their holes is not enough for the pump to pull fuel from the tank.

Both the first and second reasons are equally probable, at the same time they are interconnected. When filters become dirty, when they have not only not been changed for a long time, but also not cleaned, they throughput decreases sharply.

To this we can add the processes of precipitation on the walls of the fuel line of various impurities and additives, which are found in our gasoline in huge quantities. As a result, the load on the fuel pump increases, it works at its limit and begins to overheat.

Cooling down fuel pump circulating fuel through it, since it has more low temperature compared to water and is an excellent coolant. But this definition is true only for high-quality gasoline (a rarity these days). Consequently, substandard gasoline cannot sufficiently cool the pump operating under overload and the windings of its electric motor burn out.

In order not to immediately start disassembling the fuel pump, you need to make sure there is a sufficient level passability of the fuel line section, laid from the inlet fitting to the gas tank.

Before starting any work related to testing or repairing fuel equipment, you must first relieve the pressure in the line. To do this, the fuse is removed from the pump's power supply circuit, and the engine is given time to produce the remaining gasoline, after which it stalls on its own.

VAZ 2110 fuel pump which acts as a gasoline pump, is unlikely to be able to move independently without this small but very important unit. Let’s say right away that the fuel pump of the carburetor “ten” is mechanical, while the VAZ 2110 injector has an electric fuel pump. Today we’ll talk about both in detail.

So, mechanical fuel pump for VAZ 2110 carburetor engine installed between the valve cover and the ignition distributor, in engine compartment. Actually, this arrangement allows you to receive reciprocating torque from the shaft, which goes from the camshaft to the ignition distributor. Thanks to the eccentric on this shaft, movements through the rod are transmitted to the fuel pumping lever. The lever itself, in a reciprocating motion, sucks in fuel through a membrane. By the way, this pump, like all pumps starting from the VAZ-2101 model, has a manual fuel pumping lever. This is quite convenient, as it allows you to quickly check the operation of the mechanism literally with your bare hands. Photo of the VAZ 2110 mechanical pump itself Further.

This is what a mechanical pump looks like in cross-section, look at the schematic drawing.

Mechanical fuel pump VAZ-2110 consists of the following elements –

  • 1 – discharge pipe
  • 2 – filter
  • 3 – body
  • 4 – suction pipe
  • 5 – fuel pump cover
  • 6 – suction valve
  • 7 – rod
  • 8 – manual fuel pumping lever
  • 9 – spring
  • 10 – cam
  • 11 – balancer
  • 12 – mechanical fuel pumping lever
  • 13 – lower cover of the fuel pump
  • 14 – internal spacer
  • 15 – external spacer
  • 16 – discharge valve

Removal and installation of a mechanical pump VAZ 2110 does not cause much difficulty. It is enough to remove the air filter, loosen the clamps of the incoming and outgoing fuel line hoses, remove these hoses, then unscrew the two nuts securing the pump itself and you can remove the mechanism from the two studs on which the fuel pump hangs. During installation, it is advisable to replace the gaskets that are on the thermal insulation insert.

Fuel pump VAZ 2110 injector

The electric fuel pump of the injection “ten” is installed directly in the gas tank. Removing and replacing this unit also does not cause problems for VAZ 2110 owners. It is enough to lift the rear seat sofa, unscrew the hatch and fuel supply lines... the main thing is not to forget to relieve the pressure in the system.

The fuel injection system itself differs from the carburetor version in the method of fuel supply. If a carburetor engine sucks in fuel independently from the carburetor, then in an injection engine fuel is injected under pressure through injectors. Therefore, the task of the electric pump in the tank is to constantly maintain high pressure throughout the entire system. The pump turns on and off automatically (using a relay), responding to commands from pressure sensors. Actually, the pump itself looks something like the photo below.

Define, Is the electric pump working? in your car you can do it quite easily. Turn on the ignition (but do not start the engine), and you will hear the characteristic whirring of the electric pump in the tank as it builds up the necessary pressure. If there is no buzzing sound and the engine does not start, then the pump is most likely faulty. Or the pump activation relay, which is located in the cabin under the center console of the panel, usually near the passenger’s feet, is faulty.

It often happens that the pump is not able to create the necessary pressure, although it hums, then it also needs to be changed. The VAZ 2110 injector pump is very sensitive to various debris, so be sure to periodically change the fuel filter.

Replacing the fuel pump on a VAZ 2110 injector

A very useful video of removing the fuel pump on a “ten”.

To remove the electric fuel pump, do the following:

  • 1 – reduce the pressure in fuel system
  • 2 – remove the hatch cover under the rear seat
  • 3 – disconnect 2 fuel supply hoses in turn
  • 4 – unscrew the 8 nuts around the circumference of the ring and remove it
  • 5 – remove the pump block from the fuel tank without damaging the fuel level indicator sensor lever
  • 6 – remove the rubber o-ring

Do not forget that when installing a new electric fuel pump for a VAZ 2110 injector, the installation arrow on the electric pump cover should point towards the rear of the car. In addition, when installing fuel hoses, pay attention to the direction of the arrows.

Staff fuel pump The VAZ 2110 is one of the main components of the vehicle’s fuel supply system. Its main purpose is to ensure the correct transportation of gasoline to the distribution or injection element (i.e., to the injector or carburetor) under the created pressure. In the fuel system, “dozens” distinguish between gasoline pumps mechanical type and electric pumps.

Mechanical fuel supply pump, its parameters and design features

A mechanical fuel pump is mounted on “tens” with carburetor-type engines. It is driven by the camshaft of the power plant, on the block of which it is installed. Structurally, it is classified as a piston-type product and its elements include:

  • a body element including 2 adjacent compartments and top fastening covers;
  • a diaphragm located between the body parts;
  • reverse action springs;
  • shock associated with the diaphragm on a rigid base;
  • fuel injection and suction valve located in the upper segment of the fuel pump;
  • mechanical drive;
  • filter mesh.

It was previously established that the VAZ fuel pump of the tenth model, the price of which is relatively reasonable, is driven by the eccentric of the engine camshaft. When the eccentric moves in a circular motion, a lower movement of the diaphragm and rod is observed, overcoming the impact of the compression force of the spring.

In this case, the vacated space expands, and the fuel fills the discharged plane by entering through the start valve, with the discharge element in the closed state. The diaphragm, consisting of 2 diaphragm components with gaskets, is the main functional component of the pump. It is in connection with a rod connected directly to the elements of the mechanical drive mechanism.

The difference in fuel pump parameters is related to the pressure value and the dimensions of the housing part. You should pay attention to the Bosch fuel pump, whose fuel pressure indicators are in the range of 2.8-3.8 Bar. Product parameters do not always depend on the radius of the body part; here, as a rule, the determining indicator is the length. These dimensions vary; examples include spare parts 65, 90 or 105 mm. Additionally, these components of the fuel supply system differ in the location of the detachable chips.

The length of the fuel pump determines the ability of the element to perform its functions with low fuel content in the gas tank.

Electric type fuel pump

Gasoline pump for VAZ 2110 injector electric type installed in cars with regulated system injection. The “tens” electric fuel pump is located in the fuel line system in the gas tank vehicle. This dislocation of the element greatly reduces the possibility of fuel loss due to the use of a scheme without the participation of pipelines that work to suck in fuel.

This element of the fuel supply system includes:

  • a pump, the body of which is made of metal;
  • fuel level sensor;
  • fuel intake component;
  • filter mesh;
  • check valves and pressure reducing valves.

Valve reverse principle action is stopped by the fuel distribution complex when the power plant stops. A pressure-reducing element controls pressure by acting as a bypass valve.

The designs of electric fuel pumps are:

  • roller type;
  • gear type;
  • centrifugal type.

An electric roller pump sucks in fuel and drives it through the functionality of the rotor element and the movement of special purpose rollers. The gear electric pump sucks in fuel and drives it through and is pumped by moving an internal gear relative to the stator element, which plays the role of an external gear. When a rotational type rotor moves, the side elements of the tooth create a chamber in their segments that changes the degree of rarefaction, with the help of which the effect of suction and supply of fuel is created.

At the same time, a centrifugal type fuel pump is mounted directly in the fuel line. Such elements make it possible to ensure an even supply of fuel and operate almost silently. They have one significant feature - a limit on pressure parameters and functionality.

Selecting a pump for supplying fuel to a VAZ 2110

Despite the reliability of the element, the fuel pump sometimes becomes faulty. As a rule, the defect consists of failure of the electric pump brushes. The choice of a fuel pump is carried out according to the following criteria: reliability and quiet operation, because the quieter the pump operates, the more comfortable it is to use.

When choosing a fuel pump, you must purchase the same product with the same part number. Often, among many analogues, car enthusiasts highlight the Bosch fuel pump, which is used on 1.6-liter cars and is equipped with a fuel level pressure regulator.

In the evening I drove into the garage, but in the morning I couldn’t start it. Usually I turn on the ignition and I can hear the click of the relay and the hum of the pump and somewhere after 3-5 seconds the relay clicks again and the pump goes silent and I turn the key all the way, the starter works but the engine does not start because there is no pressure in the power system, the pump does not pump.

I'm looking for the cause of the fuel pump failure by checking the fuse, which is located

Under the sidewall in the depths there are fuse, relay and computer block.

Relay and fuse box enlarged

First, I checked fuse number 3, took it out of the socket, inspected the condition of the contacts and checked the integrity with a device, the fuse turned out to be intact (by the way, 15 amps)

this did not help, then I checked the relay under number 4. To do this, unscrew the nuts indicated by the arrows to remove the relay and install a known good one. Where can I get a working relay? Can be removed for the duration of the check mounting block relay" high beam"It is exactly the same as the fuel pump relay. This did not help, I removed the rear seat under which the gas tank with a submersible pump is located.

Before performing the above actions, I checked the power circuit (+)(-) those. fuel pump weight at connector under number 5 using the device and a test lamp the result is positive, I checked the continuity of the circuit on the pigtail on the connectors under numbers 4,6

It may happen that there is no power supply ( + ) or ( - ) on the connector under number 5. If ( - ) i.e. ground does not reach the connector, you need to check the connection to the body. My power supply circuits are ringing.

The ground connection point is difficult to access; to get there you need to dismantle the upper and lower lining of the floor tunnel.

I checked the power circuits come to the connector under number 4, and the fuel pump does not work, then I performed the above steps as shown in the figure and removed the fuel module with the fuel pump from the fuel tank. Removed the pressure ring and gasket

Carefully pulled the fuel module out of the tank a little, tilting it to the side right door interior so as not to bend the float arm of the fuel gauge sensor (FLS)

I disassembled the fuel module. Separately, I checked the pump directly from the battery. The pump is running. I checked the connectors and found the cause of the failure; it turned out that the positive contact of the connector (in the form of a pin) at the bottom under the casing was slightly burnt. I cleaned the contact (in the form of a pin) of the connector, but I couldn’t clean the other side of the connector.
