Hello, I decided to write about how we (me and my wife) restored old table. This is my first time writing, so don't judge too harshly. And initially, we didn’t think to post, so some photos are missing. But I still hope that you will find it interesting.

So, what was and what became:

1. Unfortunately, there are no first photos. But to imagine what happened, I’ll describe it. The table was painted with a paint that was sickeningly familiar from my school years; it was the color of the Soviet floor. And painted with 3-4 layers of paint. The tabletop was wooden, massive, also in this paint. When they tore off the large chipboard bottom, they found 8 mummies of red cockroaches. :) Nails, dirt, etc. were also present. The tabletop was removed and the paint began to be stripped off. Actually, after they tore off some of the paint, they began to record the process.

2. I peeled off the paint with a drill with an iron attachment. This process is dusty, boring, and generally extremely unpleasant. To get what is below in the photo, it took me 3 weeks, easy in the evenings and with weekends for rain.

4. After the putty has dried, carefully sand the table again. We repeat the procedure depending on the irregularities and cracks. In the photo, as you can see, putty different color. We just ran out of white, paint will cover everything))

5. Now a small digression. Tabletop. We did it quickly and immediately. I tore off the paint from it in a matter of seconds with a grinder and sandpaper (well, such a disk). Then I removed it with an electric planer upper layer wood, it turned out uneven, but we were happy with the result :) Then we painted the tabletop, glued PVA napkins around the edges, and covered it with two layers of regular parquet varnish(sanded before applying the second layer).

7. Next we paint. First, as it happened, we painted it with regular acrylic paint (on the tabletop it’s also the same only with paint) for ~150 rubles, then we sanded it again (in general, the more often you sand, the better;)). Then we ran out of paint and I bought expensive white acrylic enamel at water based, ~350 rub. costs. When we painted it, we realized that there was no need to varnish it :)

8. The next step is to apply the pattern. As with the countertop, everything is done simply. Take beautiful napkins, separate the top layer with the pattern, and carefully glue it with PVA.

9. Now we make the bottom. We decided to make it from MDF panels (left over after renovation). At first I simply screwed it onto the screws from below, but the edge was visible and spoiled the whole look. Therefore, I screwed the blocks inside and placed the panels on top. Furniture magnets were screwed into the hole where the box apparently was. We decided that there would be a lid with magnets :)

10. Cover. Made from plywood (sanded, primed and painted), a piece from an old curtain (we'll improvise it), and pieces of iron for magnets.
