Glue moment liquid nails. Liquid nails - application and instructions

I am glad to welcome you to the blog, friends! A couple of days ago I was helping a friend glue a sealing corner to the bathroom, and then the question arose of how to use liquid nails. If we had had a gun at hand, we would have easily coped with the task, but squeezing out the remaining contents from the incomplete tube turned out to be difficult. Let's figure out together how to use the material if you don't have it on hand. the right tool, and how to store leftovers.

What are “liquid nails” and how to use them

The popular name “liquid nails” is firmly rooted, although in fact it is a type of glue used in construction and during construction and installation work (CEM). The name came from in English, which means the direct translation of Liquid Nails is liquid nails.

If you use a gun, the work will be easier

In Russia, a similar glue appeared in the mid-90s and gained popularity among professional builders and in everyday life among folk craftsmen. Russian liquid nails successfully entered the market building materials, but not knowing how to use LG correctly, you can ruin the structures being glued together. It is important to understand what the adhesive described below is and how to use it. You also need to know how and with what liquid nails are washed to eliminate inaccuracies in the work.

Correct use of LG stems from an understanding of the properties. Since it is an adhesive material, its task is to glue various materials and structures together. Liquid nails help in carrying out construction and installation work, save time, and increase the efficiency of labor costs. These types of glue consist of various polymer compounds, the main one of which is synthetic rubber. Important advantage is that the adhesive composition does not pierce the structures being glued, does not rust like real nails and does not require the use of a hammer. The big advantage of LG is the bonding of materials of dissimilar structure to each other - ceramics, gypsum, wood and concrete. Therefore, the area where LGs are used is wide:

  • Repair work when finishing premises.
  • Construction.
  • Interior design.
  • Furniture production and interior.

Where and how to use liquid nails

Since the requirements for adhesive material are different situations different, then the modifications of such glue are different. Liquid nails are produced, varying in price and having different qualities and characteristics. The main property is how much load the structure glued with this composition can withstand. The adhesive ability of the material determines the quality and cost. Therefore, when purchasing liquid nails, you should understand what loads they must withstand, what materials need to be fastened and how to use liquid nails. You should not overpay by buying expensive material if you need to perform simple steps.

LG can be used to glue fallen tiles
  1. Initially, study the instructions included with the material. Since the adhesive material is based on both solvent and water, the work technology will require certain actions. In the first option, you should make sure that the rooms where the work is carried out are well ventilated or carry out the work outside the room. At water based glue work is carried out at a temperature not lower than +5 degrees.
  2. The surfaces to be bonded are thoroughly degreased and cleaned, since dirty, dusty and wet surfaces do not adhere well to each other. Better bonding will be achieved by applying small notches on the surfaces to be glued - rough surfaces provide a high-quality connection.
  3. To accurately apply glue, use a mounting gun similar to that used when applying construction foam.
  4. The application of LG is carried out pointwise or in strips along the surface to be bonded, depending on the size of the structures being bonded.
  5. The surfaces with the applied glue are pressed tightly against each other with force and fixed in this position for a certain period of time (the duration is indicated on the packaging). Maintain the connection until completely dry. Sometimes it will take about a day.
  6. Excess and squeezed out glue residues are removed with a damp cloth.

It is necessary to remember about the shelf life of LG, which does not exceed one year from the date of release of the glue. Therefore, you should not stock it in large quantities for future use.

How to choose and use a pistol for burning gas correctly

When using liquid nails, it is recommended to apply them using a specialized nail gun. This will allow you to more accurately apply the composition to the surfaces to be bonded and will prevent unnecessary consumption of material. The principle of operation of a construction gun is similar to using a syringe, so even a beginner can use it. There are some different modifications of mounting guns: with and without reverse stroke of the piston. The former are more often used in domestic conditions, with low glue consumption, and the latter - on an industrial scale.

There are numerous varieties of liquid nails available in stores. An inexperienced person encountering this material for the first time will have the difficult task of choosing the right glue. According to the principle: to be inexpensive and “angry”. They start from the instructions for using LG, which are attached to the product or printed on the packaging, but this will take more than one hour. Sales consultants are not always competent to clearly make a choice. Therefore, before going to the store, you should prepare in advance.

LG is used to seal the bathroom

Here are a few criteria and subtleties on the basis of which LG is chosen:

  • For fastening heavy structures - finishing with stone or porcelain stoneware, silicone or neprene-based adhesives, such as “Moment Montazh” (Henkel), are better suited.
  • For fastening materials that do not have a large specific gravity, such as polystyrene, plastic, water-based LGs, such as “Moment Installation Super Strong,” are more effective.
  • Water-based LGs are not suitable for fastening polypropylene, polyethylene, Teflon and other similar materials.
  • Neoprene-based adhesives (LN601 Macco or Multi-Purpose) are the most versatile for indoor work. They perfectly glue plywood, plasterboard, wooden materials, as well as plastic, metal and chipboard. But they are not at all suitable for installing and fastening mirrors/tiles in rooms with high humidity.

Video review for craftsmen:

Which liquid nails are best to use?

Today, the buyer is offered several types of liquid nails. The cost is determined depending on the type and purpose.

Deciding which type to use can be difficult

A common type is water-based nails. The main purpose is to fasten materials with a porous surface. The disadvantage of such nails is that they cannot be used in rooms with high humidity. More precisely, you can use them there, but they take a long time to dry, especially since under constant exposure to moisture the nails lose their adhesion properties and, as a result, will not hold the surfaces to be glued together.

An example of use is gluing decorative elements to the ceiling. These nails are cheap due to the restrictions on the types of work where they are used.

The second type, which is based on an organic solvent, is unpleasant due to its pungent odor; safety precautions must be observed when working with them. Excessive saturation with vapors leads to loss of consciousness and other health problems. But this look is universal. A distinctive feature is high strength and reliability. Liquid nails of this type can withstand a lot of weight.

The cost of these nails is slightly higher than water-based compounds.

Advantages of liquid nails: why they are convenient to use

In total and in terms of the volume of work, liquid nails are inferior to ordinary nails, although sometimes it works reverse effect. It is more profitable to use liquid nails. If we are talking about aesthetics, then ordinary nails, no matter how hard they are driven in, are visible, so additional effort and money will be required to hide the heads.

Liquid nails easily hide joints and are not visible. Liquid nails look like a whitish or clear paste that is squeezed onto the attachment point. Moreover, they are fixed in a small amount, but there are enough attachment points. Depending on the type of surfaces that are attached, the step is from 3 to 15 cm.

Advantages of liquid nails:

  • Versatility - they can be used to fix any material;
  • Non-toxic - even solvent-based nails are not harmful once completely dry;
  • Moisture resistance - moisture is not a problem for such a material, but for latex-based nails the opposite is true;
  • Holding a load of about 100 kg per square meter is a useful tool for various jobs;
  • Liquid nails, unlike ordinary nails, are easy to apply and it is difficult to damage the surface with them; in addition, if you do not allow them to harden, wiping the nails off the surface will not be difficult with a damp cloth.

Liquid nails differ long-term storage. They start work at any time, they do not need special training or specialized tools.

Area of use and differences between types

Liquid nails are popular in construction and renovation. Purchase them for any task. The cost is low, equal to half the cost of polyurethane foam.

A common example of using liquid nails is attaching materials to brick structures, gluing wooden surfaces, fixing fiberboard and chipboard sheets. Nails are also used for gluing ceramics, polystyrene, glass or even metal; with their help it is easy to glue foam.

A useful feature that makes liquid nails so valuable professional builders, – gluing surfaces that do not fit tightly together. When using liquid nails, to fix such surfaces you will need to squeeze out a little more from the tube.

Restrictions on the use of liquid nails - they are not used for gluing damp or damp wood; they cannot be used to glue an aquarium, not even because of constant contact with water, but because of the slow decomposition and subsequent poisoning of the inhabitants. Silicone sealant is suitable for these purposes.

Liquid nails are used in small decorations, when you need to efficiently but discreetly fix an element on a wall or ceiling, glue a torn part, etc.

Buy liquid nails different manufacturers and in different volumes, which also affects the price.

If they perform a small amount of work, then it is enough minimum quantity liquid nails, buy a large tube for a large front. The larger the volume, the lower the total cost.

Rules for using LG

To achieve the effect of using liquid nails, apply them to a dry and grease-free surface.

Apply either pointwise with small increments, or in stripes. Do this quickly so that you can then press the surfaces to be glued together. They are fixed in a tight position to each other for several minutes (2-3), after which it remains to wait for complete drying.

To find out how long liquid nails take to dry, the answer to this question is on the label. Depending on the manufacturer and type of nails, the time varies. This period lasts from 18 hours to a day. During this time, they do not create additional load on the bonded surfaces.

Users make the same mistake, which does not give a positive effect and increases the consumption of nails. They are applied to only one surface, the second is degreased and cleaned of dust.

Nails are applied using a special gun, which is designed for gluing materials in hard-to-reach places.

Squeeze out liquid nails without it, pressing on the bottom with a suitable object. But it is worth cautioning: the bottom will be damaged and then the liquid nails will leak out, making it impossible to use them.

How to use liquid nails: with and without a gun

When carrying out repair and construction, finishing, installation work, as well as work on decorating a room, construction glue is used, better known in everyday life as liquid nails - Liquid Nails. This special construction adhesive is made on the basis of polymers and rubber and is supplied to the market in tubes of various capacities or in cylindrical cartridges (tubes). For the convenience of working with cartridges, it is customary to use a special construction (installation) gun for liquid nails, which is designed for dosed application of glue to the surfaces to be glued.

Use LG correctly!

This gun is used for working with various sealants, which are packaged in similar special tubes with a standard volume of 310 ml. This tool got its name because of the principle of operation - the adhesive composition is applied by pressing on the trigger, which is why it is compared with the weapon of the same name. Although the process of applying glue itself is more similar to the operation of a syringe.

When choosing liquid nails, study the instructions on the packaging to find out whether this construction adhesive is suitable for the types of surfaces that are to be glued.

If the work is planned to be carried out outdoors or in rooms with high humidity, then choose a construction adhesive that contains a solvent. For dry rooms, less toxic acrylic liquid nails are better suited.

Which construction gun is best to use?

Like similar construction tools, mounting guns are divided into two main types: household (mechanical) and professional (pneumatic and battery-powered).

Professional ones are usually used to apply all kinds of sealants, and three types of mechanical guns are used to work with liquid nails.

An inexpensive type of liquid nail gun is a semi-body gun. Such pistols are short-lived and not easy to use. Cartridge stand with construction glue it seems to be cut in half and during operation the tube often warps, which interferes with the smooth movement of the rod.

For the home craftsman, there is a simple solution to this problem - the tube is tightly fixed in the gun body using wide tape. Wrap tape around the tube placed in the body, closer to the handle. At the same time, they protect the branded sticker, which is located on the case. There is a manufacturer’s warranty for such working tools, and in order for the gun, if necessary, to be returned under warranty, it is advisable not to damage this sticker.

The next type of mounting gun is the most popular among buyers and is called skeleton. It is a little more expensive than the half-body, but it holds the liquid nail cartridge more securely, allowing the glue to flow more smoothly. However, even here, tape is used to secure the tube tightly, since cases for inexpensive pistols are made of aluminum, which does not provide sufficient rigidity.

The most convenient for working with liquid nails is a tubular (syringe) gun. It tightly fixes the cartridge with glue or sealant, and is used not only for working with tubes, but also with foil packaging, which is used for packaging certain types of sealants.

Design and principle of operation of a pistol for burning gas

The design of a construction gun for liquid nails is universally simple and consists of six main elements:

  • Platforms for holding the cartridge;
  • Handles (in some models rubberized);
  • Trigger;
  • Feed rod;
  • A pusher disk attached to the rod;
  • Locking (fixing) tongue;

The principle of operation of this tool is as follows: after the cartridge with liquid nails is installed in the gun platform, pressing the trigger activates the rod, which pushes the disk. In turn, the disk exerts pressure on the bottom of the tube and squeezes the contents through the hole in the tip of the tube onto the surface.

In more expensive models, after releasing the trigger, the mechanism moves the rod back a little. This relieves excess pressure in the tube and prevents excess glue from leaking out.

How to use a burning gun correctly

Before you start working with mounting gun open the glue cartridge. To do this, unscrew the conical tip, if it is screwed, and use a sharp knife to carefully cut off the head of the tube immediately above the thread. After this, screw the tip onto the head of the cylinder and remove the cap.

Next, the edge of the cone is cut so that the cut diameter is slightly less than the thickness of the required seam layer liquid glue. Then put the cap back on. Some manufacturers place a protective bottom on the bottom of the tube, which must be removed.

The construction adhesive cartridge is ready for installation.

In order to install the cartridge into the gun body you must:

  • Taking the pistol by the handle, press thumb on the locking tab until it stops;
  • Pull the rod all the way towards you, freeing the platform for installing the cartridge;
  • Place the cartridge into the tool body;
  • By lightly pressing the trigger, push the disk attached to the rod to the base of the tube until it stops;
  • Remove the cap from the tip and get to work.

If a “syringe” gun is used for work, then in order to insert the tube into the body, unscrew the upper fixing ring and remove the internal insert from it.

When fixing the cartridge on the rod, it is important not to use excessive force when bringing the pusher disk to the base, so that excess pressure does not build up in the tube before using the glue. Otherwise, when you remove the cap from the tip, some of the glue will leak out.

The following video shows the instructions described above, which clearly demonstrates the stages of preparing a gun for liquid nails and sealant for use:

Safety rules and completion of work with liquid nails

When working with a mounting gun, use extreme care and caution. Apply glue in small portions, strictly on the pre-designated areas of the surfaces to be glued. Avoid contact with skin or foreign objects.

If drops of glue get on the gun, it should be washed immediately to prevent it from drying out. During breaks between jobs, cover the cartridge spout with a cap to prevent the liquid glue inside from drying out.

After finishing work, the used cartridge is removed from the gun, and the tool is washed in warm water. soap solution and let it dry. In order to remove the used cartridge, press the locking tab and pull the rod with the pusher disk towards you. After which the tube is removed from the gun.

Liquid nails Moment: how to use correctly

Today, a construction adhesive called “liquid nails” is used to connect various surfaces. The substance is used in construction, finishing and repair work Oh.

The classic nail composition is based on synthetic rubber and a special type of clay mined in Texas. The addition of titanium dioxide gives the glue a white color. To reduce the cost, chalk is used (instead of expensive clay), which accordingly worsens the quality.

The toluene contained in the composition is responsible for adhesion, but slows down drying. To reduce this time, acetone is added to the material.

These components are toxic and have Negative influence on the human body. The presence of harmful substances is indicated by sharp, bad smell. They are not included in modern products.

Main types of liquid nails: which ones are best to use

Nails are divided into types depending on the base used:

  • Water-based nails are called acrylic nails. Used for bonding surfaces with a porous structure. Not recommended for use in conditions high humidity.
  • Neoprene, based on organic solvents. Used for fastening various materials, withstand high loads. But they have a suffocating odor and are harmful to health, so precautions must be taken.

The pre-setting time varies, depending on the type of glue, from 5 to 30 minutes. The material finally hardens within 24 hours. The instructions indicated on the cylinder contain detailed instructions on the time of complete and partial setting. There are materials with a short hardening period - 5 minutes, such as “Moment” liquid nails.

Features of LGs: how to best use them

Liquid nails are widely used in repair and construction work due to the high strength properties of the connection - 80 t/m2. They are used to glue elements that are loosely adjacent to each other.

They glue metal, glass, polystyrene, ceramics, wood and brick structures. Despite the wide range of applications, manufacturers do not recommend fastening wet or damp wood or aquarium parts.

The advantages are:

  • Resistance to moisture (except acrylic);
  • The surface does not deteriorate;
  • Even dissimilar elements are glued together.

High-strength adhesive joints (higher than the strength of concrete) are provided by “Titebond” liquid nails. In addition to reliability, ease of use also influenced widespread use.

Which liquid nails are best to use: advantages of Titebond

Glue became an indispensable assistant in repair and construction work of varying complexity. It allows you to glue elements made of stone, concrete, metal, wood. Liquid nails are applied to various surfaces.

The greatest effectiveness of glue is achieved by using the appropriate brand for a particular situation. The instructions describe in detail the areas of application of the products. But among the large number of species, common characteristics are distinguished:

  • Practicality and ease of use. People who do not have the skills to carry out repair and construction work will be able to use “Titebond”;
  • Applying material to uneven surfaces. In this case, the load is distributed evenly along the entire perimeter. This reduces the pressure exerted on the bonding site;
  • Construction adhesive remains flexible after drying;
  • Titebond liquid nails withstand vibration and are resistant to deformation;
  • Retain properties for many years. Construction adhesive is resistant to temperature changes and chemical influences - acids, alkalis, salts.

What brands of liquid nails can I use?

There are different options for liquid nails. Their characteristics determine the scope of application.

The series of adhesives based on synthetic rubber includes the following models:

  • “Multi Purpose” (red tube). Bonds metal, plastic surfaces and foam. Recommended for use in conditions of high humidity. Used for gluing finishing materials: moldings, plastic panels, plaster, ceramics, composite. Not designed for gluing subfloors. For these purposes, it is better to choose a tube of green (Solvent Free) or yellow (Heavy Duty) color.
  • “Tub Surround” white). Has increased flexibility and resistance to liquids. We recommend for gluing plastic parts of different hardnesses, bathtub interiors;
  • “Heavy Duty” (tuba yellow color). An effective, durable construction adhesive. Reliably glues various elements. Heavy Duty is not water resistant and is not suitable for bonding polystyrene foam.

There are other brands made from excellent bases:

  • “Solvent Free” (green tube) – a mixture of polymer emulsions;
  • “Cove Base” (blue tube) – polymer emulsion;
  • “Invisible Bond” (tuba blue color) – elastomeric polymer;
  • PROvantage PU Premium – polyurethane.

General instructions: how to use liquid nails correctly

Liquid nails “Titebond” different types have and general rules applications.

  1. Surfaces are pre-treated: cleaned and degreased.
  2. Using a construction gun, glue is applied using one of the methods (snake, dots, mesh).
  3. The fastened elements are pressed tightly against each other and held for 5 minutes.
  4. Wait for complete drying (about a day), then mechanically act on the surface, if necessary.

More detailed instructions is located on each cylinder and is carefully studied before use.

Not everyone knows how to install a bottle of liquid nails in a construction gun. Next video will help you understand the procedure and basic operating principles.

Removing glue from the surface cannot be ignored. High adhesive strength complicates the procedure. The following options are possible:

  • Newly applied adhesive is easy to remove. You will need a sponge, water or solvent (mineral base);
  • Dried nails are removed with a special cleaner or scraper;
  • Heating. The critical temperature for the material is + 50 °C; when heated above this value, the glue will become viscous and can be removed without much effort;
  • Liquid nails are removed after prolonged exposure of the bonded surface to direct sunlight.

Liquid nails “Moment Montazh” are universal remedy for fastening various parts, finishing and decorative elements without the use of screws and nails. Ease of use and aesthetic results have allowed the glue to be used in many types of repair work.

Specifications

Liquid nails consist of a large number of fine fillers. This allows not only gluing, but also sealing cracks. They perfectly hold together wooden, plasterboard, plaster, ceramic and cork surfaces. Some types glue glass, stone, and metal.

Liquid nails “Moment Montazh” can be divided into two according to their composition: large groups: based on synthetic resins and polyacrylate-water dispersion. This directly affects the properties of the adhesive, its technical characteristics and application.

"Moment Montazh" based on synthetic resins contains rubber and organic solvents. Thanks to the latter, it has a sharp, unpleasant odor and is easily flammable until it hardens. Rubber nails should be worked in well-ventilated areas. They are suitable only for construction and installation work.

Cannot be used for mounting PVC or foam panels. The composition can withstand sub-zero temperatures up to 200ºС. This option is labeled MP.

Technical characteristics of rubber nails:

  • the seams can withstand prolonged contact with water;
  • perfectly bond smooth and non-absorbent surfaces;
  • can be used as a sealant;
  • due to the elasticity of the glue, the seams are resistant to vibration;
  • excess mixture is removed only with a solvent;
  • dissolve plastic.

Nails based on polyacrylate-water dispersion are chemically neutral. They can be used for internal repair work: gluing PVC panels, plastic skirting boards, baguettes, ceiling tiles. And although a hardened seam can withstand negative temperatures, the glue itself is stored and sets at temperatures from +5 to +300ºС. It is marked on the MB packaging.

Technical characteristics of acrylic nails:

  • do not have a sharp unpleasant odor;
  • can be used to fill gaps;
  • resistant to atmospheric moisture, but cannot withstand prolonged contact with water;
  • after drying, it can be painted with disperse paints;
  • universal;
  • at least one of the surfaces must absorb water well;
  • excess can be easily removed with a damp cloth.

“Moment Installation” can also be divided by type of material, for example, only for plastic. Nails are available in white or transparent (marked with a small letter “p”). The choice of liquid nails depends on the expected scope of work. If the seams will be in contact with water, and the surfaces are smooth, non-hygroscopic, and the elements are large, then it is better to choose adhesive based on synthetic resins. If you need to glue plastic finishing and decorative elements, or repair work is carried out in living rooms, then it is better to use acrylic nails.

If the glue is high or has expired, which is 1.5 years, then it is disposed of as normal household waste. Under no circumstances should it be disposed of in the sewer. The composition of liquid nails is extremely toxic to fish.

Kinds

The Moment Montazh line includes about sixteen products. Depending on the materials and complexity of the work to be done, you can easily select the most suitable adhesive composition. It is designed for installation ceiling tiles, floor skirting boards, wooden and metal elements decor, sockets, wall wood panels, as well as for filling gaps up to 1 cm.
  • “Moment Montage. Polymer" to The nail is a composition based on acrylic water dispersion and is not liquid nails. It has excellent adhesion, becomes transparent when dry, and is used to fill deep cracks. They can glue paper, cardboard, polystyrene foam, wood, parquet mosaic, polystyrene foam, PVC. Available in bottles.

Purpose

Liquid nails are a special durable adhesive created for mechanical fasteners. The adhesive force can replace screws and nails, hence the name. Excellent for installing tiles, panels, baseboards, friezes, trim, window sills, and decorative elements. Does not require the use of impact tools during operation, but fasteners may be required to secure heavy structures. “Instant Scrum” allows you to quickly complete all installation work. The polarization time is about 15 minutes, during which time you can move parts and adjust the direction.

Liquid nails do not harm the working base and do not destroy it over time. The seam does not rust, does not rot, and is resistant to moisture and frost. The glue meets all GOST requirements. Typically available in 400g cartridges.

Rubber compounds are used when installing heavy structures where there is high humidity. Great for wallpaper made of natural bamboo, tiles and mirrors. For plastic elements, PVC and foam, it is better to use liquid nails in an acrylic water dispersion. They are more versatile, less dangerous and do not have a chemical smell. This glue can be used in children's rooms and other residential areas.

How to work with the composition?

Before applying glue, it is necessary to clean and degrease the surfaces. The nails are applied with a 2 cm indentation from the edge so that the glue does not come out of the seam when squeezed. If the surface is uneven, then apply it pointwise. For small surfaces, you can apply it with a line, to give greater rigidity and increase the adhesive force. For example, for ceiling tiles it can be applied in a continuous line around the perimeter, for wall panels - in small sections.

The glue should be applied according to the instructions. If the nails are acrylic, then apply glue and press, holding for several minutes until it sets. If the nails are rubber, then apply glue, connect the surfaces, and immediately separate them so that the solvents evaporate, making the bonding easier. Leave for 5-10 minutes and finally connect, pressing. If the structures are heavy, then use supports.

We can talk about adhesives for a very long time - modern industry produces them great amount. There are both universal and highly specialized adhesive compositions - even within the same trademark their varieties can number in the dozens. In this article, together with the website, we will talk about one of these adhesives produced under the auspices of the Henkel brand - “Moment Liquid Nails”. Let's decide on their purpose, application and learn how to use this type of glue correctly.

Adhesive liquid nails: types and applications

The scope of application of liquid nails glue during installation is quite extensive, but their main purpose is to fix any wall panels and similar materials. The highlight of this glue is its elasticity even after complete drying. And this is what is necessary for gluing large products that undergo thermal expansion. It is elasticity that allows the material to expand and contract freely without the risk of tearing away from the surface. Liquid nails glue is unique in this regard.

How to use liquid nails

Today, Moment liquid nails glue is produced in ten varieties:

1. “Instant Grip” is an almost universal glue. It can be used to connect both porous and non-porous surfaces - it easily copes with plastic, metal, brick, concrete, wood, ceramic tiles and many other materials used in construction.

2. “Express Decor” – works well with plastic, wood and polystyrene. In practice, it has been widely used in the installation of ceiling moldings made of foam plastic, all kinds of decorative friezes and panels made of PVC, polystyrene and other lightweight materials.

3. The moment of installation “for mirrors” - the name of this glue speaks for itself. It is able to connect a mirror or glass to any type of surface indoors.

4. Liquid nails Installation moment “Super strong transparent” - produced under the DGII marking. It can be used to glue wood, PVC, and cork. It does an excellent job with plastic and MDF skirting boards. According to the manufacturer, it can even be used to secure a door in the opening and install a window sill.

5. “Super strong” montage moment. It differs from its transparent brother only in its nondescript color.

Types of glue moment liquid nails

6. Installation moment “Super strong plus” - a modified version of the two described above adhesive compositions. Added to all other qualities is the ability to be used outdoors – it sticks to everything and to anything.

7. “Very strong” – used in connections of heavy structures. If we are talking about reliably gluing a heavy object, then it is difficult to come up with a better solution than this type of liquid nails. In practice, this glue has shown itself to be excellent when working with slabs.

8. Installation moment “For panels” - used for installing any types of panels on concrete, brick, wood and any other base.

9. “Universal” - intended for everything and at the same time for nothing. In principle, it’s difficult to say anything bad about this type of liquid nails - in fact, it is an average glue that is used for the most part for gluing to any type of surface lightweight materials and average weight.

10. “Express” – glues quickly and efficiently. Designed for use both indoors and outdoors. Quite often used for finishing facades with gypsum or cement artificial stone.

Liquid nails: instructions for use

In fact, Moment Installation is unpretentious to use, but, like most similar adhesive compositions, it has a lot of nuances. And the first, most basic of all, is the need to use a special gun; without it, squeezing liquid nails out of a cylinder is tedious. The gun is inexpensive and is sold at any hardware store for quite a price. affordable price– as a rule, we are talking about $4-10.

The liquid nail gun is quite simple to use. The metal tongue located behind the handle of the gun is pressed with a finger, after which the piston-pusher is pulled back, thereby making room for the glue bottle. When the cylinder is installed, the piston is pressed back in exactly the same way. Now everything is simple - swing the trigger and squeeze out the glue.

Many people have a question: how to open liquid nails? It's really simple. You don't wonder how to open a tube of toothpaste or hand cream, do you? There are two types of blockage of this glue - in the first case, you will have to cut off the sealed part of the plastic tube with a knife, and in the second case, if we are talking about tin or paper cylinders, additionally pierce it with a long nail protective film, located deep in the spout. This protection is necessary so that the glue has time to reach the consumer without losing its qualities.

Okay, that's all lyrics, let's get back to the technology of using glue. Moment installation of liquid nails. As elsewhere, work on gluing something using liquid nails begins with preparing the surface - dust, dirt, and loose paint must be completely removed. The surface of the walls and the glued material (if it is porous) must be covered with a layer of primer to increase the adhesion of the materials.

Liquid nails instructions for use

When the surfaces are dry, you can begin gluing them. Liquid nails are applied to one of the surfaces in two ways - either in continuous stripes or dotted. It is necessary to choose the application method based on the type of product. For example, long panels such as PVC plastic or MDF, it’s better to glue it pointwise, but ceiling plinth, will stick more firmly if the glue is applied in a strip.

Did you apply glue? Now we take the glued product and connect it to the base of the wall. Press tightly, if necessary, lightly tap with your fist and tear off the product. For what? The glue should dry out within 5-7 minutes. There is no escape from this – this is the lack of technology. If you want to glue surfaces, as they say, “tightly,” then you should not ignore this point. When the glue has dried, the panel is put in place and tapped well with a fist. This, in principle, is the whole technology - now you know how to use liquid nails. Installation moment and you can safely get to work.

And finally, a few tips for sloppy craftsmen - removing liquid nails not in a frozen state is tantamount to smearing them on the finished surface, thereby ruining it. First, wait until the glue dries, then carefully cut it off with a sharp blade - these are the instant liquid nails.

Some people don't quite understand how to use liquid nails.

This is not surprising, since this device is relatively new on the building materials market.

The article explains how to use liquid nails and which ones are best to choose.

Why do you need liquid nails?

Liquid nails are a special adhesive for installation. This adhesive solution is made from polymer and rubber.

Currently, it is quite popular due to its ease of application and good performance.

U of this device there are many other advantages for which both professionals and amateurs love it.

For example, using liquid nails you can quickly glue wood, metal, ceramics or PVC.

In addition, this glue dries very quickly, but this does not happen immediately, so you can quickly change the position of the elements being glued together. In addition, after gluing it to a liquid nail, you can bend the material as you like.

It should also be noted that the adhesive solution is very frost-resistant and does not ignite. Liquid nails can support a weight of about 50 kg.

When gluing, you do not need to use percussion instruments, which is also quite important.

In addition, liquid nail does not allow rust to form if metal parts need to be glued together.

Glue can connect any surfaces - rough, soft, etc., and they will all hold equally tightly.

However, in order to properly glue the necessary parts, you should carefully consider the choice of liquid nails.

There are nails based on organic compounds. They adhere well and are resistant to low temperatures.

Before purchasing, you need to carefully study the instructions, because with organic-based glue you need to work with gloves.

As a rule, nails in this category have a pungent odor, so it is advisable to wear a respirator before starting work.

There are solutions based on acrylic. This glue is almost completely safe, but you cannot work with it if the temperature is very low.

In general, acrylic liquid nails glue worse than organic ones, so it is better not to use them for serious installation work.

To use glue you need a liquid nail gun. On average, a standard cassette contains about 310 ml of glue.

As a rule, universal liquid nails are needed to glue small parts. But there is also heavy-duty glue that is used for more serious installation work.

However, glue also has its disadvantages. For example, when working with it, you need to have clothes covering your hands, and you need to wear a respirator, because the solution has a very unpleasant odor.

In addition, if you have no experience working with such glue, then using it is quite problematic. Before using liquid nails, the instructions must be read.

How to choose the right one?

Most often, this glue is needed for adhesion of ceramic, metal, wood, brick, polystyrene and other parts.

Liquid nails can glue together even elements that do not fit tightly together.

In this case, the solution can withstand a load of about 80 kg. However, experts do not recommend gluing materials made from damp wood with nails.

Wallpaper made from natural materials is often glued to nails. In this case, there is no need to specially prepare the surface - just remove the excess plaster and start gluing.

As with conventional glue, liquid nails must be applied to the inside of the coating, after which the sheet is applied to the surface and pressed by hand.

If the glue has leaked a little from the edges of the sheet, then you can take your time wiping it off. You should wait a little until the solution dries, and then carefully remove the excess.

Even ceramic tiles can be glued to this glue. In this case, the adhesion will be better than that of conventional tile mortars.

However, if you use nails on a large scale, it will be somewhat expensive - the price of glue is quite high.

It is best to use this adhesive solution for gluing fallen tiles, etc.

If you need to glue a heavy element to vertical plane, then you need to fix the object on wooden supports until the composition is completely dry.

Usually the substance dries completely within 12 hours, but this depends on the brand and ingredients of the glue.

Many people advise reading the instructions for use when choosing liquid nails, but this does not always help.

If a person has never used this glue before, and there are dozens of varieties of adhesive solutions in the store, then it will be difficult to make a choice.

In any case, first you need to understand the most popular brands. For example, you can often see “Moment Installation Extra-Strong” adhesive based on neoprene.

This adhesive solution can withstand the load of heavy parts and elements. It is often used for gluing siding, stone, wood structures, etc.

However, this option is not suitable for polystyrene foam and other foam materials. For these purposes, it is better to purchase “Moment Installation super strong” based on water.

But you need to remember that you cannot glue polyethylene, polypropylene or Teflon with it.

There are also liquid nails LN601 on neoprene, which can only be used for interior work. But since the glue is universal, it can be used to glue almost anything.

However, this adhesive solution is not suitable for gluing tiles and other heavy objects.

There is also Multi-Purpose adhesive solution on neoprene, which can be used to glue brick, concrete or plaster.

In addition, this glue is suitable for plastic, wood, metal and ceramic elements, but it cannot be used for polystyrene foam objects.

It is worth remembering that nails that dry quickly are best for ceramic tiles. For example, Titan WB-50 and Solvent Free.

If you need to glue a mirror, then you need to choose LN-930 and other similar adhesive solutions. For work in a damp environment, it is better to take Nail Power.

Various wooden structures you need to glue Solvent Free or Tigger construction adhesive, they dry quickly.

If you need to glue something heavy, then high-strength Heavy Duty or Zigger 99 will do.

How to use?

Nails are very often used during installation. Despite the fact that working with them is relatively simple, you still need to follow a few rules.

For example, you should remember that glue is applied only to a clean, dry surface. In addition, after spreading the solution, you must press the parts tightly in the desired position for 2 minutes.

You should also remember that the glue is applied in strips or dots. In this case, there is no need to spread the composition over the entire surface; gluing will be good without it.

Drying usually takes about 12 hours, but it can last 18 hours or a day - it depends on the brand and manufacturer. It is better not to touch the structure while it is drying.

If the gluing elements are quite heavy, then it is advisable to wait a week, then the glue will dry completely and will be able to completely hold the structure.

The composition is needed for gluing parts in difficult places.

We should not forget that nails based on organic compounds are quite dangerous - you should not allow the composition to come into contact with the skin. The glue must be applied with a special gun.

In stores, liquid nails can be found in the form of cartridges, which helps to use the adhesive solution in doses and save money. At the same time, the shelf life of the composition is quite long.

However, everyone has situations when they need to not only apply glue, but also remove it. High-strength adhesive mortar is especially difficult to remove.

To remove newly applied liquid nail, you should try washing it off with water and solvent. You can use a regular sponge for this.

However, this option is not yet the most difficult, since the composition has not yet had time to dry. If the glue has already dried, you will have to wash it off with special substances that are available in stores.

However, not everyone has strong solvents on hand. For such cases, the use of a conventional scraper is indicated. You just need to work with it very carefully so as not to spoil anything.

You can try to heat the frozen glue. In this case, the mass will become liquid and viscous, it can be easily washed off, you just have to heat it up to 60 degrees.

Many people still have the question of how to properly use a nail gun. This is also quite simple - you need to press the metal tongue of the gun, then pull the piston in your direction, which will make room for the adhesive solution.

After fixing the cylinder, you need to press the piston back, and then you can squeeze out the nails by pumping the trigger.

Some people don't know how to open a tube of solution. This question is often asked by beginners, but in fact there is nothing complicated here.

The tube is either sealed - then you need to open it with a knife, or you just need to pierce it from the top if the container is tin. It is best to pierce with a nail, because there is a protective film inside.

When carrying out renovation work, finishing materials are usually attached without the use of holes that could damage them appearance. This will require the use of special substances. One of best models The glue on the market today is Moment Montazh.

It is designed specifically for these purposes, so it is fully prepared for the job and will hold the materials entrusted to it well for many years. You just need to apply it correctly, and then no problems will arise during operation.

Application area

You can buy glue at any construction hypermarket. There are entire departments dedicated to this category of goods, so you won’t have to search for the right products for a long time. Glue “Moment installation” or “Liquid nails” is used in the following cases:

  • - gluing decorative elements to painted or plastered surfaces, as well as on top of wallpaper or trim;
  • - gluing protective corners in the bathroom that will prevent water from spilling on the floor while swimming or showering;
  • - installation of mirrors on various types of surfaces;
  • - installation wall shelves without the use of nails and screws.

The range of applications is not limited to the specified operations, so you can freely improvise depending on the situation. The adhesive is waterproof, so it is easily suitable for bathrooms and kitchens, where there is often a high level of humidity. Using the universal Moment Montazh adhesive, you can even install tiles without using special mixtures.

The consumption of the substance will be such that from an economic point of view the benefits will be undeniable. On average, about 40 grams of glue are required per square meter of area, but given that the technology requires applying the material to both surfaces, this already amounts to 80 grams. So, everyone decides for themselves whether to buy tile adhesive and lay tiles on it or still use the “Moment”. It is necessary to calculate the costs and, based on the data obtained, make a balanced conclusion about the advisability of using the substance.

Like any other substance, glue has several varieties, which differ from each other for a specific purpose. In general, the composition is identical, but one or more additional elements, which add or enhance certain properties. For example, “Moment Montazh MV 50” has an increased class of water resistance, so it is well suited for work in wet rooms.

With its help, you can mount various accessories, including on the ceiling, since it has a paste-like consistency, so it will not drip or spread. It does not contain organic solvents, so it is absolutely safe for the surfaces being treated. The product must be stored in an airtight container, otherwise it will dry out.

For panels, such mounting adhesive will be ideal solution. It is packaged in special tubes that are inserted into a construction gun, which allows you to clearly control the consumption and apply the substance to the surface without any problems. No special skills are required to operate the tool. After completion of the work, traces of installation will not be noticeable, and the panels on long years will be securely attached to the wall.

Along with conventional models, you can also find “Moment Montage Express” glue on sale, which comes into play from the first seconds of application, so you will need to act as quickly as possible. There will be no chance to correct the mistake, so you will have to prepare yourself for the successful completion of the operation the first time. The glue is colorless and odorless and is suitable for exterior and interior use. The temperature range for operating the adhesive joint is from -20 to +70 degrees Celsius.

Main characteristics

The technical characteristics of the “Moment Installation instant grip” adhesive look like this:

  • 1. Maximum level of adhesion from the first seconds. It should be borne in mind that before starting the connection, you need to let the substance brew in the air for 10 minutes. After this, you need to press the two surfaces tightly for a few seconds. The key role is played by the force of initial pressing.
  • 2. Super-strong adhesive “Moment Montazh” can work even with wet surfaces. The main thing is that they are cleared of debris and various elements that can impair adhesion and prevent tight contact.
  • 3. Suitable, including for porous materials, because thanks to its gel-like consistency it fills all available space well.
  • 4. The hardened adhesive layer can be painted in any color. The surface holds paint well and does not distort its color.
  • 5. Can stick brick, concrete, wood, ceramic tiles, drywall, metal profiles, decorative elements from composite materials.

Storage conditions

The main type of packaging for “Moment” assembly adhesive is 400 gram tubes for a construction gun. One package with average consumption is enough for 5 square meters surface, so the calculation must be carried out based on this value. If some material remains, it can be stored for three years as long as it remains sealed. If the glue has dried, it can no longer be dissolved.

Instructions for Moment Installation adhesive are included on each package. The manufacturer recommends that you read it before use to avoid possible errors and carry out the gluing procedure with maximum efficiency.

The price of Moment Montazh glue for a standard package is about 100 rubles.
