Military department

KnAGTU students at military training camps

The military department at Komsomolsk-on-Amur State Technical University is a separate structural unit of the university and trains reserve officers for the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation from among citizens studying at the university under the reserve officer training program. The military department was created on November 20, 1980 by a joint order of the Minister of Defense and the Minister of Higher and Secondary Education of the USSR.

From 1980 to the present, the military department has trained more than 4,500 reserve officers.

The military department is located separately on the fourth floor of the 3rd academic building of the university. In the park area of the department there are storage facilities for automotive equipment, artillery pieces and mortars, classrooms for military-technical training, as well as a combat work camp. Teaching at the military department is carried out by a highly qualified team of officers with extensive military service experience.

During its existence, the military department was repeatedly subjected to inspections carried out by commissions of the Eastern Military District, the directorates of the Chief of the Missile Forces and Artillery of the Ground Forces, and the Chief of Communications of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and was always rated “good.”

Currently, the military department trains reserve officers for two branches of the military:

Students who have expressed a desire to enter into a training agreement for training programs for reserve officers, who are undergoing full-time training at our university, and who are recognized by military medical commissions as fit for military service for health reasons, are invited to study at the military department.

Training of citizens under reserve officer training programs is an integral part of the program of voluntary preparation of citizens for military service and is included in the state educational standard of higher professional education as an additional educational program.

This program includes theoretical and practical training courses at the military department (450 hours are allocated for it) and training camps (30 days) conducted in military units.

Citizen education is carried out in the 3rd and 4th years (four semesters) and includes mandatory classroom training and independent work under the guidance of a teacher. Classes are conducted using the military day method, that is, citizens attend classes at the military department once a week in accordance with the class schedule.

During the period of study at the military department, students take tests and course exams. The final stage of training at the department is 30-day training camps in the troops. These fees are equivalent to military fees. At the end of the training camp, students take the state final exam. The assignment of officer military ranks to graduates of the military department with simultaneous enrollment in the reserves of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is carried out by order of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation and is timed to coincide with graduation from the university.

Studying at the military department gives students a second specialty and the opportunity to enter into a contract for military service in officer positions in various “law enforcement agencies” with the right to use all the benefits established for military personnel.

In November 2010, the military department of KnAGTU celebrated its 30th anniversary.

The educational organization was created by relevant order of the USSR Ministry of Higher Education. In those days, the educational institution was called the Evening Polytechnic Institute. It had only 2 faculties - construction and mechanical-technological.

As time went. The educational institution gradually developed. New faculties were opened there to train personnel needed in the Far Eastern region. In 1974, the institute was renamed from evening to day, and 20 years later a technical state university was created on its basis. In 2005, the university celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Educational institution today

One of the entrance tests is the Russian language. Absolutely all applicants take it, regardless of the chosen faculty. The remaining subjects are determined by the direction of preparation. Eg:

  • at “Mechanical Engineering” the entrance tests, in addition to the Russian language, are mathematics and physics;
  • to enroll in “Jurisprudence” you will need to pass social studies and history;
  • applicants choosing “Linguistics” take into account the results of exams in social studies and a foreign language.

Master's degree

Komsomolsk-on-Amur State Technical University offers people who have completed their bachelor's and specialist's degrees to continue their studies at the university with a master's degree. Upon admission, an entrance exam is taken in the field of study. The minimum number of points is 40. Applicants who score them are enrolled in paid or free places.

The quality of education in the master's program is high. Students gain access to modern educational technologies, conduct the necessary experiments and research in laboratories equipped with the latest equipment. Groups in the master's program are small (from 3 to 5 people). Thanks to this, KnAGTU teachers interact more effectively with students. Students can ask questions and receive detailed answers.

Postgraduate studies
