5. Reissue (August 1991) with changes No. 1, 2, approved in February 1985, July 1988 (IUS 7-85, 9-88)

VLM lamella mats are formed from bars basalt wool density from 25 to 65 kg/m3, fixed glue method on special substrates. The following are used as substrates:

  • reinforced aluminum foil;
  • foil fiberglass sheet Outside.

In the first case, the operation of vertically layered mats is limited by the thermal insulation of internal (protected from negative environmental factors) communication lines, in the second there are no restrictions, which significantly expands the operational capabilities.

The main area of application of VLM lamella mats is the thermal insulation of pipelines and air ducts, an alternative is the thermal insulation of casings various equipment and tanks. In addition, the mentioned mats are truly universal and remain effective on any structure and on any equipment.

Their fixation on insulated surfaces is done in two ways:

  • tightening with bandage belts (this method is used for thermal insulation of pipelines and air ducts);
  • gluing (used for thermal insulation of casings and tanks, as well as other large objects).

Technical characteristics of lamella (vertically layered) VLM mats

The width of VLM lamella mats is 1 m, the length varies from 2.5 to 15 m. Their thickness can also be different: its lower limit is 40 mm, the top one is 200 mm. The dimensions of the mats do not change either when heated/cooled or when moistened/dried (their coefficients of thermal expansion and shrinkage are zero).

At the minimum density of vertically layered VLM mats (it is 25 kg/m3), their compressive strength is 5 kN/m2, at the maximum (65 kg/m3) it reaches 10 kN/m2. But water absorption does not depend on density and never exceeds 1.5%. Getting the mats wet does not affect their service life, but increases thermal conductivity.

The operating temperature range of VLM lamella mats is quite wide: their operation is possible at temperatures from -180 to +350 C. Short-term exposure is more than high temperatures also allowed. The fire-technical classification classifies VLM mats into the following groups.

  • in terms of flammability - G1 (low flammability);
  • in terms of flammability - B1 (hardly flammable);
  • according to smoke-forming ability - D1 (virtually no smoke-forming);
  • for toxicity of combustion products - T1 (minimal danger).

Distinctive features lamella (vertically layered) mats VLM

Durable and extremely easy to install lamella mats VLM is one of the special thermal insulation materials, widely used both in industry and in the housing and communal services sector. The reason for this is their outstanding operational features, which include:

  • resistance to oils, various types fuels, solvents, alkalis and even acids;
  • significant deformability (the compressibility of the lamellas reaches 10%);
  • high insulation potential.

Use of vertically layered mats for thermal insulation ventilation ducts(air ducts) allows not only to prevent unwanted cooling of the air transmitted through them, but also to neutralize the noise created by its intense current. Mats made on the basis of Outside fabric also have waterproofing properties, protecting air ducts laid in open space from corrosion.

VLM lamella mats are supplied to consumers in the form of rolls of various sizes, packed in plastic film. After opening the packaging, the mats are completely ready for installation.

2.7. The mats must withstand the test for the strength of adhesion of mineral wool strips to the covering material, provided for in clause 4.10.

2.6, 2.7. (Changed edition, Amendment No. 2).

3. Acceptance rules

3.1. Acceptance of mats should be carried out in accordance with the requirements of GOST 26281 and this standard.

3.2. The volume of a batch of mats is set in an amount not exceeding shift production.

3.3. The dimensions of the mats, different thicknesses, the gap between the mineral wool strips, the width of the longitudinal edge, density, compressibility, humidity, and the adhesion strength of the mineral wool strips to the covering material of each mat included in the sample are determined for each batch.

Thermal conductivity is determined once a quarter and with each change in raw materials and production technology on three mats that have passed acceptance tests.

3.4. A batch of mats that was not accepted based on the results of control of size, thickness variation, gap between mineral wool strips, longitudinal edge width, and adhesive strength is subjected to continuous control according to the indicator for which the batch was not accepted.

3.5. If a batch of mats is rejected based on the results of determining thermal conductivity, a re-check is carried out. If unsatisfactory results of the re-inspection are received, the supply of mats to the consumer must be stopped. After eliminating the reasons for the release of low-quality mats, each batch is subjected to control.

If satisfactory results are obtained for three consecutive batches, it is allowed to carry out periodic monitoring according to clause 3.3.

Section 3 (Changed edition, Amendment No. 2).

4. Test methods

4.1, 4.2. (Excluded, Amendment No. 1).

4.3. The length, width and thickness of the mats are measured according to GOST 17177 on a mat laid with mineral wool strips facing upwards. The thickness of the mat is measured at a specific load of 500 Pa (0.005 kgf/cm). The size of the gaps between the mineral wool strips is determined after every fifth strip of the product being measured.

(Changed edition, Amendment No. 1, 2).

4.4. The difference in thickness is determined by the results of measuring the thickness of the mats according to clause 4.3. The thickness difference is calculated as the difference between the largest and smallest values of the mat thickness.

4.5. The width of the longitudinal edge is measured with an error of up to 1 mm in six places and calculated as the arithmetic mean of the measurements taken.

4.6. Density is determined without taking into account the covering material according to GOST 17177.

(Changed edition, Amendment No. 1, 2).

4.7. The compressibility of the mat is determined according to GOST 17177.

From each mat included in the sample according to clause 3.1, two samples are cut out along with the covering material.

4.8. The thermal conductivity of the mat is determined according to GOST 7076.

From each mat selected according to clause 3.3, one sample is cut out without covering material.

4.9. The moisture content of the mat is determined according to GOST 17177.

The test sample consists of five point samples taken in four places diagonally at a distance of at least 250 mm from the corners and in the center of each mat included in the sample according to clause 3.1.

4.10. The strength of adhesion of mineral wool strips to the covering material is determined by examining the mat after rolling it twice into a roll and then unrolling it on a flat surface.

The mat is considered to have passed the test if, after the second deployment and rotation of the mat with the strips downwards, not a single strip is completely separated from the covering material.

4.7-4.10. (Changed edition, Amendment No. 2).
