Construction of a house from OSB. OSB panels are a worthy solution for building a frame house

Construction houses made of OSB panels - this is new new technique, a rapidly developing building materials market.

OSB panels are a building material that consists primarily of wood chips.

OSB panels are made by pressing under high pressure, with pine or aspen wood chips folded in a cross shape.

The cross placement of chips, in combination with their deep flattening, gives special reliability and flexibility to the entire material. According to their own resistance to various mechanical influences, Oriented Strand Boards plate much better than slabs from plywood.

Sandwich panel houses made from OSB panels can be installed in just a couple of weeks, without the use of heavy construction machines and tools. When implementing the construction technology, houses made from sandwich panels are very warm, able to withstand temperature changes, and are not afraid of dampness.

The facade of the house, its internal surfaces and the roof made from OSB panels do not need to be further straightened before the process finishing. A house made of sandwich panels with an area of 200 m2 will cost a little more than one million rubles.

The low price of installing houses made of sandwich panels from OSB panels is caused by reduced costs associated with the low cost of a ready-made set of OSB panels for a house produced on factory equipment.

Let's consider the advantages of this construction method:

  1. For the construction of this type of house, a relatively inexpensive foundation is prepared;
  2. There are no extraordinary costs; a house made of sandwich panels is made at a factory in fully equipped and is packaged in boxes, without the need to purchase additional building materials;
  3. Reduced delivery costs, the starter kit for a house made of OSB panels is in most cases transported in one go;
  4. Reduced installation and installation costs, the house is built by a team of several people;
  5. Those. construction control houses using frame technology.

Oriented Strand Board Cladding

The construction technology of this type of house has good feedback in most countries. In the Russian Federation, this construction technology for houses made of sandwich panels is not yet particularly developed. An insufficient amount factories and companies involved in construction for the production and production of ready-made kits of houses, offering good and good assembly. The service sector for the production of parts and components is not very developed. Nowadays it is popular to build brick houses or solid wood.

Positive qualities of construction technology from OSB panels

OSB boards have a high degree of water resistance, strength, and lightness. These material characteristics do much more positive traits before other construction materials used in construction using wood. This makes it much easier construction stages houses made of OSB panels.

Below we consider the main advantages of such construction:

  • in order to carry out the main construction work there is no need to use a very expensive lift;
  • houses made of sandwich panels from OSB panels have good fire-resistant properties;
  • wall cladding is a lightweight, waterproof finish that does not require the construction of an expensive foundation;
  • when constructing the roof, they use light, even and water-resistant building materials, which facilitate its insulation and coating with a special material that protects from external hydrometeors;
  • kit houses using frame technology made of OSB panels fits into a pair of heavy-duty vehicles;
  • the cost of building a house using OSB panels is reduced when compared to building a house with stone.

Main types of OSB panels

During the construction of houses made of sandwich panels from OSB panels, 4 types of panels are used that have varying degrees strength and resistance to moisture, and therefore low price. Depending on the current parameters, slabs can be combined in a variety of areas, achieving great savings in resources.

Safety of construction from OSB panels

Projects of houses made of sandwich panels and their construction OSB panels in the Russian Federation undergo detailed examination in accordance with all the necessary requirements of construction legislation. Since 2012, construction examination has been introduced, carried out by a state or private company.

This is precisely why the developer, when selecting a finished project, has the right to demand proof of the general safety of the future home based on another very important parameters:

  • home safety when using it;
  • quality, reliability and durability of houses made of OSB panels;
  • justification for the use of building materials;
  • validity of rational use of construction resources;
  • compliance with the specific level of architectural projects and structural strength.

Main types frame construction Houses

Nowadays, several are used construction technologies houses made of sandwich panels from OSB panels.

  • The first method is the use of OSB panels to cover the entire frame, erected as load-bearing parts of the structure. This technology is used during the construction of various hangars; other buildings do not require additional insulation, without any artistic requirements.

Often the frame, covered with OSB panels, is subsequently insulated with a special mineral heat insulator. The side that is inside houses using frame technology OSB panels should also be sheathed. The disadvantages of this technology are the imperfection of the insulation system; there are “cold bridges” at the connecting points and corners of the entire structure.

The quality of construction in this case is not sufficiently controlled, and depends on the quality properties of the building materials acquired at different times, this mainly concerns the boards of load-bearing parts.

Insufficiently dried wood changes its configuration and greatly reduces thermal insulation the entire building. At the beginning of construction, wood must be treated with specialized impregnations and antiseptics, give it resistance to fire, which takes a significant amount of time and reduces the speed of construction.

  • The second method is construction houses made of sandwich panels from OSB panels using 3 layers of SIP panels as the fundamental element (they are also called Sandwich panels), 2 layers consist of OSB panels, and the 3rd layer is artificial latex between them. These panels have a specific, unusual key fastening design. The panels are produced in production using very high-tech technologies. Building a house from sandwich panels from OSB panels will not be difficult for a construction team.

Ready-made house made of SIP composites

Construction technology from OSB sip panels

The positive qualities of this method of quickly erecting a house are quite clear.

  1. It is possible to build a house up to three floors;
  2. Various architectural problems can be solved during the construction of houses made of sandwich panels from OSB panels;
  3. These houses can be built in a variety of climate zones on the planet; their use begins on the day of construction of key walls, roofs, and floors;
  4. Material costs for home maintenance will be minimal. With a properly built foundation, there is no shrinkage of walls, distortions, or other inevitable disadvantages of newly constructed houses.

Foundation on stilts for sip house

Base during construction houses using frame technology- this is the foundation. For a house made of OSB panels, a screw base is considered an excellent base. A deep pile, below the freezing point of the ground, will provide sufficiently strong support that is not subject to the entire structure being pushed out of the soil.

The foundation on a strip basis has some disadvantages, which can be easily solved with proper and competent planning of the lower room and inputs sewer systems, water, gas and electricity.

After finishing the foundation laying and its high-quality waterproofing, a specialized support board is laid along the perimeter of the entire foundation, which easily repeats the configuration of the future houses using frame technology. The width of such a board will match the width of the groove of the OSB panel. Basic rule of construction houses using frame technology from OSB panels - this is the use of sealing support boards and panels connected with screws when connecting.

Installation of house walls

Vertical guides that ensure high-quality connection of OSB panels are bars. The width of the block will be equal to the width of the groove, thanks to which the combined boards fit freely into the groove. A strong connection is ensured by a non-standard fastening with outside and inside the groove.

Angles houses using frame technology OSB panels can be formed by connecting a board to the edge of a corner OSB panel into the groove of an adjacent corner panel.

For the ceiling surface, narrow panels are used, which are designed to increase vertical loads.

This construction technology is becoming more in demand in the Russian Federation. A large number of they want to live in a new house right away, without painful and many years of waiting for construction. Frame-panel houses osb to some extent cheap, and if they need to move to another city, the family can very easily be convinced of the maximum quick sale Houses.

Construction of a frame house. Rules for installing OSB boards

  2. European and American classification of OSB.
  3. Why OSB in a frame pie.
  4. How to protect OSB from destruction.

What is OSB made of?

OSB boards appeared in our country only ten years ago, but they have been known in the world for more than three decades, since the time they were invented frame technology construction of houses. For covering the frame it was absolutely necessary new material: durable and at the same time light, reliable and easy to install - neither natural wood nor chipboard met these parameters. This is how OSB, or OSB (oriented strand board) was invented. It consists of layers wood shavings. The main binder is phenolic resins in combination with paraffin; in Europe, melamine binders are used for boards used in furniture production. In the outer layers, the chips are laid along the slab, and in the inner layers - across. The mutually perpendicular arrangement of the chips makes it more resistant to external influences. It can be said that when minimum thickness and its low weight, OSB achieves maximum strength indicators, and it is this material that gives rigidity to the entire structure of the frame pie. At the same time, OSB may turn out to be the most vulnerable link in the entire structure - the participants of our portal have seen this from their own experience. We will analyze the most common OSB problems and try to solve them with the help of experts.

European and American OSB standards

There are two classifications of OSB boards. By European standard EN 300 they are divided into four classes.

  • OSB1 – boards that are used in dry conditions; They are used to make furniture and upholstery. This is a non-structural material.
  • OSB2 – used indoors in dry conditions as a structural board.
  • OSB3 - used as a structural board in a humid environment, including outside buildings. Thanks to optimal ratio cost, moisture resistance and strength, this material is most in demand by builders of frame houses on FORUMHOUSE, including for cladding facades.

Urgenz FORUMHOUSE Member

I see no reason not to use OSB on the facade. It looks great (there is a texture, not a smooth sheet), lightweight (easy to install), and lasts much longer than wood.

OSB made in the USA and Canada is divided into three classes. Criterion – level of water resistance of the binder chips:

  • Interior - for interior structural work in dry conditions.
  • Exposure 1 is a structural board that can withstand short-term exposure to damp conditions, so it can be used for interior decoration of wet rooms and for exterior use (subject to finishing with another material).
  • Exterior – withstand alternating cycles of wetting and drying, contact with the ground, and prolonged exposure to adverse weather conditions.

The following American standards roughly correspond to European standards:

  • OSB2 - Interior;
  • OSB3 - Exposure 1;
  • OSB4 - Exterior.

OSB in frame construction

Due to the popularity of frame houses, OSB boards are one of the most discussed FORUMHOUSE materials. There are ongoing debates about what it should look like " the right pie"how to reduce the cost without compromising the strength of the structure, what is the role of OSB in frame structure, is it possible to use OSB for façade finishing?

On the diagram proposed for discussion by a FORUMHOUSE participant BulKonst, two options for a frame pie are shown: in Figure A - a classic pie, in Figure B - a budget version classic version(1.5 times savings).

The idea of making the pie cheaper by removing from it such an element as covering the outside of the frame with OSB boards did not meet with understanding at FORUMHOUSE, because “in construction, the stingy pays three times.” Namely, OSB gives reliability to the entire structure.

Svidig FORUMHOUSE Member

Without OSB, the house can be folded.

OSB boards with the most the best side showed their worth during the earthquake in Japan: frame houses survived, although wooden and stone ones collapsed in the neighborhood.

Soloviev Artem Project Manager Soppka OSB Protector

The main purpose of OSB boards is to impart rigidity to the structure.

It is OSB that allows a house to stand for several decades. But this is only if the pie is mounted correctly. Technology frame house construction Taking into account local conditions, it is just being created in Russia; it is a little over ten years old. Therefore, there are no precise, scientifically verified technologies for frame house construction in Russia yet. In essence, so far each construction company has more or less its own own technologies- therefore, there is always a possibility that ventilation will be done incorrectly, and unprotected OSB boards will end up in an environment with high humidity and become infected with mold or mildew, which will spread further to the insulation and frame.

How to protect OSB

Member of FORUMHOUSE with nickname Fast and Furious found that the street side of his house was "very degraded" after living in it for 4.5 years. It turned out that there was complete destruction of the OSB.

Fast and Furious Member FORUMHOUSE

I read from SIP builders how wonderful SIP panels are. And they don’t burn in fire, and they don’t drown in water, and a pound weight hangs on one self-tapping screw. Only the fungus calmly eats it and makes fun of me.

For quite a long time, it was believed that only the frame should be covered with bioprotection, and OSB boards and other structural elements do not need this. This is wrong - OSB boards were not covered with bioprotection simply because until recently there was no composition that would have good adhesion to OSB boards.

The house has been treated with a specialized fire-retardant compound

Artem Soloviev

IN frame house everything is interconnected. The frame holds up the house, and OSB makes the frame stronger. Even the counter-lattice on which OSB boards are attached must be treated with a bioprotective compound. There are products to protect each structural element.

OSB for facade finishing

Birdofprey

If you want to throw away money, then you can use OSB as a finish, and a complete one at that.

For facade finishing At home on OSB boards, you can use clinker tiles, ceramic tiles that imitate brick, siding or imitation timber. The slabs can also be plastered.

If the choice of finishing on OSB boards fell on plaster, then there may also be problems with the choice additional material. Such work cannot be carried out directly on OSB; the boards must be protected.

Nadegniy Member FORUMHOUSE

On OSB, the plaster will hold on for some time, cracks will appear at the joints of the OSB in the first winter, the edges of the OSB sheets will gradually swell, and the finish will darken with them.

Here are the “plaster cake” options that were successfully used at FORUMHOUSE.

If overlays were made:

  • OSB + primer + elastic plaster + overlays.
  • OSB + contact concrete + elastic plaster + overlays.
  • OSB + primer + reinforced. mesh + plaster + overlays.

If pads have not been used:

  • Wet facade: OSB + EPS (expanded polystyrene; PSB-S 25F) + base reinforcing layer + decorative plaster.
  • OSB + reinforced mesh+ primer + putty + elastic plaster.
  • OSB + 2 layers of glassine + mesh + plaster.

OSB boards can be simply painted. Just paint it - a simple varnish coating is not suitable, varnish does not protect against ultraviolet radiation, it is necessary to give the wood color. Now, by the way, there are paints that are several times cheaper than European ones.

Artem Soloviev

Over time, the sun will burn out the resins from the surface of the OSB board, the wood chips will come off, and cracks will appear into which moisture will enter. Naturally, with changing seasons and constant freezing and freezing, the chips will move away even more.

An example of finishing a house using facade paint

Microorganisms form in these crevices. The gray color of the OSB slab indicates that the slab is ALREADY contaminated.

Should I putty the slabs before painting? Perhaps, the OSB structure untouched by putty looks better than a smooth sheet and is more reminiscent of the original half-timbered structure.

Members of our portal, who have extensive experience working with OSB, recommend that you approach the choice of slabs for facade finishing responsibly. No matter what grade of OSB you choose, try to keep the top layer free of bark. If there is still bark on the leaf, it is carefully separated with a sharp tool and torn off.

Everyone knows that during construction they use great amount materials. All of them are different in their origin, as well as in appearance. Each part of the construction requires certain materials, which are the connecting link and without which construction is impossible.

Of course, each material has its own characteristics and characteristics, without knowledge of which it will be impossible to achieve success in construction. Today we will talk about OSB panels that are used in construction. For what, why, how and why - we will answer these questions today.

OSB panels

Oriented strand board, which in other words is called and referred to as OSB, is construction panel, the purpose of which is to be used in the field of construction, including in industry.

This panel is made from a material such as tape chips. This type of shavings is cut along the wood grain. As a rule, wood logs are used, which are fast-growing species.

The chips themselves are glued together with a substance that is viscous in composition. Such a substance is under sufficient high temperature, as well as high blood pressure. OSB appeared on the sales market in 1981.

Today, OSB has truly replaced wafer-type particle board. However, panels made from wafer chips are still produced at one of the factories in Canada and continue to exist.

Material of manufacture

What material is used to make OSB boards? First of all, these boards are made from wood, long, oriented shavings of aspen or wood such as pine (strands). The slabs are intended only for construction, but now they have found their application in other areas.

The composition of oriented strand panels consists of a structure of many layers. This structure can be achieved by pressing several layers wood chips. Typically, three layers are used. It is with the help of high pressure and high temperature that such slabs can be obtained.

In order for the gluing process to be as reliable as possible, today formaldehyde and phenol resins are used. In addition, wax and other substances that have water-repellent properties are added to this composition.

Application

Of course, as mentioned earlier, where our article began is the scope of application. We list the main directions in construction where OSB panels are used:

  • When building houses frame type and other buildings on small floors;
  • Indoor wall covering;
  • When creating flooring;
  • When lathing the roof;
  • Production of formwork for work using concrete.

Advantages

What advantages do these panels have and why are they still chosen in construction today?

Primarily because:

  1. The structure of the slabs is homogeneous and allows the slabs to delaminate, split and even crack.
  2. The location and orientation of the chips allows the nails to hold tightly and firmly and prevent water from entering.
  3. Easy to use and process.
  4. Using a specially designed comb, you can use the connection of the plates to each other.
  5. Resistant to temperature changes, as well as all kinds of mechanical damage.
  6. High strength
  7. Ecologically pure material, which is certainly very important these days.
  8. Low price.
  9. Used for finishing walls, roofs and floors.

Flaws

  1. Capable of swelling
  2. Use only for its intended purpose
  3. Made in China - treat such slabs with special attention. Very often the manufacturer does not comply with all the conditions due to the low price of the product.

Classification of OSB panels

How can these panels be classified? The classification is carried out taking into account how and in what way a particular slab was carried out. Let's take a closer look.

Only four types of slabs are produced, and they are classified depending on their strength and resistance to moisture:

  • OSB-1– slabs that are used in conditions of low humidity. Remember that their moisture resistance is more than 20%. They are used in the production of any furniture and for interior structures.
  • OSB-2– this type is used in dry rooms to equip load-bearing structures, partitions, etc.
  • OSB-3– perhaps this is the most used slab in practice, in construction. This is primarily due to the fact that slabs of this type have increased strength and are moisture resistant (for this type the percentage is no more than 15%). Scope of application: used in external structures and structures that are loaded. Such slabs are in great demand for floors and other places where a high percentage of moisture prevails.
  • OSB-4this type slabs are applicable in places with mechanical stress and high humidity. This type of slab is ready to work with enough high level moisture (12%).

Manufacturing companies

What companies currently produce such slabs? Since we are talking about slabs that are produced not only in Russia, but also abroad, we will still pay attention to the Russian manufacturer.

After all, we are in the territory Russian Federation, and ordering such slabs, say, from Canada or China, clearly makes no sense. Firstly, there is an overpayment, and secondly, the time we lose waiting for delivery.

Building a house yourself takes a lot of time and labor costs. Wanting to save money, time and effort, people compare different variants construction using modern materials and construction technologies. In our article we will tell you how to make a house from OSB with your own hands in the most short time, with minimal financial costs.

Economical construction

The cost of constructing a building from scratch can vary widely and depends on the prices of the building and finishing materials used. The most affordable and reliable today is considered a frame house made of OSB boards.

To build such a house, there is no need to hire a team of professionals. Construction is reminiscent of assembling a large construction set, the elements of which are ordered at the factory according to the developed project.

The advantages of building a house from OSB are obvious:

  • A clear definition of the cost of the future structure.
  • There are virtually no unexpected expenses.
  • The developer pays only for the materials he needs.
  • Each purchased panel has its own place in the building and there are no surpluses or unaccounted expenses, which allows you to save up to 25% of the cost.
  • The developer will save a decent amount of money on the construction of the foundation structure, since a frame house does not require a massive foundation.
  • Perfect smooth walls buildings do not require expensive finishing work.
  • Inside the walls are laid insulating materials, which makes the house especially warm and reduces the cost of the building heating system.
  • The prices for the material used are significantly lower than the cost of bricks.

OSB boards are used both for installing formwork for the foundation and for the construction of all walls, partitions, floors and roofs.

For walls, slabs with a thickness of 9 mm are used, and for floor installation - 12 mm.

Instructions for building a house from OSB boards

Stage No. 1. Foundation. For a frame house the best option is strip foundation. The depth of laying the foundation for a house depends on the climate of your region. If the soil freezes no more than 80 cm, the foundation is made shallow. For its construction there is no need to attract additional labor.

Sequence of work:

  • Level the construction site, make markings and planning.
  • Dig trenches for the foundation.
  • Level the bottom of the trench and compact the soil.
  • Lay water-repellent membranes or roofing felt as a waterproofing layer.
  • Cover the bottom of the pit with a five-centimeter layer of sand and a twenty-centimeter layer of crushed stone. Tamp down well.
  • Install formwork from OSB boards.
  • Install the reinforcement cage.
  • Pour concrete into the base of the house.

When located construction site can be installed on stable, dense ground columnar foundation, favorably characterized by efficiency and simplicity of work. Many developers install a column-and-strip base for a frame house. The supports are tied with concrete tape - a grillage.

Stage No. 2. The walls of the house are made of OSB. Place a waterproofing layer on the foundation.

Sequence of work:

  • Place a beam measuring 15 * 15 cm on the concrete strip and strengthen it with metal brackets. This will be the bottom harness.
  • Mark the location of window and door openings.
  • Assemble the frame of the house from vertical posts. For this purpose, boards 3 cm thick and 15 cm or 20 cm wide are provided. A narrower board is suitable for the southern regions, and a wider one for the northern regions. At the junction of two walls, in corners and doorways, you need to install double boards.

A thicknesser will help make the board smooth with the same width and thickness. Before starting to assemble the building frame, all structural elements must be treated with an antiseptic.

The boards must be installed so that the ends are outside and inside the building. To attach the upper and lower trim with boards, use metal corners and self-tapping screws.

Upon completion of the assembly of the frame of the first floor, proceed with installation ceiling and construction attic floor or installation of a rafter system. The faster the roof is erected, the less likely it is that the installed frame will be damaged in the event of bad weather.

Stage No. 3. Rafter system. Build the farm according to the design of the house from OSB boards. The sides of the truss are installed simultaneously on both sides. Attach the structure to the ridge with self-tapping screws, and to the floor beams with staples.

If the rafters are shorter than the length of the roof slope, it is necessary to double the slopes and connect them with an overlay beam equal in width to the rafter board. After installation roof truss start working on the gables.

Sheathe the roof with OSB slabs, laying them so that the long side is along the slopes. Once the roof sheathing is complete, begin installing the slabs on the gables.

Stage No. 4.

It's time to sheathe the walls.

The installation of the slabs must be done so that there is a 2 mm gap between them.

Wall covering can be started from any angle from the foundation and upwards. You can sheathe one wall first, and then start working on another, or sheathe it at the same time external walls. Window and door openings remain open.

Insulate a house from OSB mineral wool or polystyrene foam. If cotton wool is used, it is necessary to outside arrange a ventilated façade. Make a sheathing for the entire house using wooden blocks. It is on the sheathing that the decorative material will be installed.

Bookmark thermal insulation materials must be carried out very carefully so that there are no cold bridges.

Mineral wool can be laid in two layers to cover joints. When using polystyrene foam to insulate the walls of a house, the cracks are filled with polyurethane foam. When the thermal insulation layer has been laid on the external walls, you can begin covering interior walls.

Stage No. 5. Ceiling and floor covering. Many developers first sheathe the floor and only then start working on the walls. To insulate the floor, foam plastic is used, laying it between beams hemmed with transverse bars or sheets of moisture-resistant plywood.

The same cladding technology is used for the ceiling.

Stage No. 6. Internal and exterior decoration. Any materials can be used to decorate interior walls. The only thing that is not recommended is plastering. OSB boards are in excellent contact with primers, varnishes, and paints.

The floor is covered with porcelain stoneware, parquet, laminate, polyvinyl chloride board, linoleum. Particle boards have an excellent, smooth surface, which allows for high-quality laying of ceramic tiles. You can even install a heated floor, which will not affect the thermal conductivity and strength of the slabs.

The facade has an excellent surface. It is enough to cover it with a primer and paint it in any color. Use bars of a different color and make a half-timbered finish. This is the most cheap option finishing. More expensive materials can be used.

Windows and doors are installed both wooden and metal-plastic. There are no restrictions. It all depends on your personal preferences and tastes. Choosing a project for construction frame structure with OSB boards, you will move into your home very soon.

We invite you to learn about the features of assembling a house frame from OSB using Scandinavian technology.

In the construction industry there is always a need for high-quality and inexpensive coating materials large areas: walls, internal interior partitions, floors that require the preparation of a hard and durable surface. For these purposes, oriented strand board OSB is increasingly being used. Due to its versatility, it is used not only in the repair of residential and office premises, and for . Houses made from OSB are built quickly, and they are inexpensive for the owner.

Project two-story house from OSB panels

To produce OSB, 3–4 layers of compressed wood chips are used, which makes up about 90–95% of the material. The rest is an adhesive composition made of waterproof resins with a minimal content of toxins, which today manufacturing companies are trying to replace with environmentally friendly components. Essentially, for the production particle boards wood processing industry waste is used. This explains their cheapness.

A wide range of sizes of OSB panels allows you to choose them for any application. Standard dimensions sheet 2500 x 1250. In this case, the consumer chooses this material, guided by:

Kinds

Based on water resistance and strength, there are 4 types of this building material:

Ready project houses with an attic made of OSB panels
  • OSB-1 with low resistance to moisture and loads, is used in the production of furniture;
  • Slightly stronger than OSB-2 for use in places without getting wet and under heavy loads. Suitable material for partitions or decorative ceilings, who are not structural elements building;
  • OSB-3 is used to construct load-bearing structures that are used in conditions of high humidity;
  • OSB-4 is a specialized heavy-duty building material that can withstand without additional protection high humidity a long period.

OSB-3 is used most often in house construction. These slabs are used for the construction of office or residential buildings for the construction and finishing of walls. For interior works you should choose material labeled ECO. When used externally, the slabs require special treatment, impregnation, and painting.

Where to start

A building constructed from OSB boards is called frame. This material is available free of charge on the Internet. The home craftsman can choose any one as a basis and begin construction.

If all parts of the building are ordered and received ready-made, then urgent additional purchases will not be needed, hard-to-sell leftovers will not form, and the entire work will last no more than 3 weeks.

When the decision is made to build a house from OSB, you need to decide: it will be an apartment for permanent family residence or a temporary, seasonal shelter. This necessity is dictated by the fact that it is very light and does not store heat as well as we would like. For year-round residence Additional insulation will be required depending on climate conditions.

This is what a house made of OSB panels looks like in section

The fastening base of the house is wooden or metal carcass. Frame houses using metal parts are much more expensive. Therefore, in most cases, timber is used for installation coniferous wood section 150x150. It is ideal for installing a structure consisting of two horizontal frames connected vertical posts between them.

Sequence of work

After choosing a project, the construction of a house made of oriented strand boards, like any other, begins with the construction of a foundation support.

Foundation

For the construction of houses from OSB panels, two types of foundations are most often used:

A home craftsman can make both supports with his own hands, without the help of specialists. A good option is a columnar foundation.

House made of OSB panels on a strip foundation

The pillars must be placed at the corners of the building, as well as at the junction of the partitions with load-bearing walls, and the rest are installed at a distance of about 1.5 m from each other. They are dug in to a depth below the freezing level of the soil and secured concrete base Otherwise, when the ground freezes, the foundation will be pushed up.

The pillars must rise above the ground level by at least half a meter. This is necessary so that the foundation of the house avoids the formation of constant dampness, from which wooden elements begin to rot. But it is possible in climatic zones of mild frosts. Otherwise, it will be difficult to heat the home.
IN middle lane And northern regions It is recommended to lay a strip foundation base. Houses made of OSB are lightweight, so when the soil freezes below 80 cm, they are flooded.

Project small house from OSB on a columnar foundation

It is needed not only for perimeter walls, but also for internal partitions. Its installation is possible without the involvement of special equipment and additional labor.

Frame

Its installation is also done by hand. The lower frame of beams is laid on the finished foundation and attached to it anchor bolts. Between the tree and, the role of which will be successfully fulfilled by two layers of roofing material.
Be sure to achieve a strictly horizontal surface. It is necessary to avoid distortions and ensure the stability of the entire structure. After installing the frame supports, they place top harness and install vertical support boards to which the panels will be attached.

The process of building a house from OSB panels

Their length should ensure the planned ceiling height of the residential building.

Walls

If the assembly is carried out with OSB-3 or OSB-4 boards, then you will need insulation, which is not required for: they already have it. Waterproofing is also not needed, because this building material high degree moisture resistance.

Wall installation starts from the corner. As corner connections a tongue-and-groove system is used, and wooden dowels should be used as fasteners.

To avoid distortions of the structure when exposed to loads, braces are required, which are installed after laying the insulation. They must be made of the same material from which the frame racks are made. Metal fasteners should be avoided, because laminated wood panels in contact with metal will be subject to severe rotting.

Ready-made project of a two-story house with an attic and a garage made of OSB panels

At this stage it is established interior partitions, for which OSB-2 panels are suitable.

Floors

In a frame house, as in any other, floors are laid in two stages. The first involves preparing a base attached to the foundation and made of untreated boards with the installation of waterproofing, joists, and insulation between them. Everything is mounted so that the location is indicated internal partitions. After this, a second layer of OSB slabs is laid, laid perpendicular to the base parts.

If the floor will be covered with linoleum, parquet or ceramic tiles, then it is recommended to use particle boards no thicker than 10 mm and lay them double layer: top sheets perpendicular to the lower ones. To prevent horizontal displacements, they are fixed with self-tapping screws and parquet glue.

They will complete the work on the frame, which can also be done by hand. The sheathing is made continuous, from OSB sheets and lay them so that the joints are above the rafter joists. Then the waterproofing layer is covered with tiles, ondulin or corrugated sheets. On the bottom side, before finishing the interior, insulation and a vapor barrier layer are laid.

Interior and exterior finishing

The internal surfaces of an OSB house are painted or varnished. If the decision is made to paint, then upper layer wax or paraffin is removed with sandpaper and a primer is made with a plaster or acrylic composition. For this purpose, water-containing solutions should not be used, as they may cause unwanted deformation. After this treatment, the paint, if it is intended specifically for wood, will lay down in a beautiful, even layer and without stains.

It is not recommended to plaster walls made of particle boards. And their covering is made of clapboard natural wood has a beneficial effect on the microclimate of the room.

You can use wallpaper, but again, first remove the layer of paraffin or wax with sandpaper, putty the surface and apply a primer in two layers. For strength, PVA is added to wallpaper glue. If the base of the floor is made of particle board material, then it is possible to cover it with linoleum, carpet, parquet, or ceramic tiles.

You can do without them if OSB-3 boards are used for the coating. The surface is pre-cleaned, degreased, sanded, primed, and then varnish is applied in several layers. OSB houses are finished on the outside traditional materials: PVC panels, clinker tiles, siding. Since when assembling walls there must be compensation gaps between the sheets, they should be filled before finishing acrylic sealant. Sometimes the walls are not covered with anything, but are simply varnished.

Moreover, over several years their strength will practically not change, only under the influence ultraviolet rays they will darken somewhat. Both internal and external finishing walls are made with almost the same finishing materials as for ordinary wooden planks or other solid wood. But oriented strand boards have a smoother surface, are more durable and less susceptible to external negative factors.
