Materials and tools for the project

• 1 wooden plank 1x12 inches (25x305 mm) section, 8 feet (2.44 m) long.
• A quarter sheet of 0.5″ (13mm) thick plywood or a piece of chipboard.
• Decorative textiles. If you are new to working with fabric, we advise you to choose an abstract pattern so that small distortions and irregularities are unnoticeable.
• Technical textiles (it’s good to use bright or dark colors).
• Sheet soft material, for example, 3-inch foam rubber measuring 16x32″ (40.6x81.3 cm).
• Thin foam rubber, padding polyester or batting.
• 4 stable decorative legs.
• Spray glue.
• 2-inch (about 5 cm) screws.
• 1.25-inch (about 3 cm) nails.
• Wood glue.

Prepare tools that will help you do the job quickly, efficiently, and accurately:

• roulette;
• square;
• pencil;
• circular saw;
• furniture stapler with staples;
• drill;
• safety glasses and headphones;
• scissors;
• needle and thread.

Carefully examine the image of the future pouf with its actual dimensions.

To make it you need to cut it using circular saw details according to the list below:

• 2 blanks with a 1×12 section, 32″ (81.3 cm) long;
• 2 pieces 1x12 14.5″ (36.8 cm) long;
• 2 pieces of chipboard (or plywood) with dimensions 32x16″ (81.3x40.6 cm).

Choose a place where you will assemble the wooden pouf. It should be a clean, flat surface, without slope. You should be especially careful when working with light-colored textiles so as not to stain or damage the integrity of the material.

Work order

1. From details particle board(or thick plywood) assemble a rigid pouf frame. Make sure that the angle of connection of the parts is exactly maintained at 90 degrees. Use 5-6 screws for each corner. If you are assembling a frame from chipboard (especially from old material), keep in mind that when screwing in the screws, it may delaminate. Therefore, before making connections, drill a hole in the marked places with a drill. Then fill the holes (about 1/3) and apply glue to one of the parts to be joined. Align the parts tightly, securing them with screws.
2. Now attach the bottom piece to the resulting structure using nails and glue.

When compressed, excess material appears in the seams between the parts connected with glue. Remove them with a damp sponge or piece of rags.

1. Wrap outer part boxes with thin foam rubber. Carefully trim the edges, make an allowance of 2-3 cm at the top of the box to make the top contour soft. Attach the foam to chipboard surfaces for spray adhesive. Along the edge, additionally secure it to staples with a furniture stapler.
2. Take measurements of the box. Add one and a half inches to them on each side, using this data, cut out the decorative fabric. Sew it on one side to make a pipe.
3. Place the textile sleeve over the box. Using a furniture stapler, secure the bottom edge of the fabric along the bottom perimeter, tucking the cut inward. Lightly stretching the material, level it over the surface. At the top, wrap the textile inside the cavity. Secure the edge to furniture staples.
4. Glue a piece of thick foam rubber onto the future pouf cover. Sharp scissors or use a knife to remove all excess. Cover the foam rubber with a layer of padding polyester or batting, attaching it with glue and a stapler along the edges, slightly pressing both materials.
5. Now start measuring the height, width and height of the lid. Add half an inch to all measurements and cut a rectangular piece of fabric of this size.
6. Cover the surface of the lid with decorative fabric. If you know how to use a sewing machine, the cover can be sewn separately, and then put on the lid and only stapled at the edges. Another original way decorate the cover - sew a sleeve cover separately rectangular shape. Then put it on the sandwich blank, sew up the edge by hand, turning the ends inward.
7. Using a drill, prepare holes in the bottom for installing the legs. Attach the legs to the base of the box with large screws.
8. Measure the parameters of the cavity inside. Transfer measurements to technical textiles.
9. Sew a cover for the inner cavity. Place it in place. Attach the top edge by tucking the raw edge inward, thus hiding the ends of the outer decorative textile.
