Go. Housing problem

Turnkey bathroom renovation is a series of activities, the implementation of which removes headache from a customer unprepared for repairs.

Turnkey bathroom- this is a competent and detailed estimate, development of redevelopment and creation of interior design, scrapping and removal of garbage, purchase of materials, rough work, laying new sewerage and water pipes, electrical installation, tiling of all walls and floors, plumbing connections.

We carry out repairs both in combined bathrooms and carry out redevelopment of separate bathrooms - combining the bathroom with the toilet.

The main argument that guides our customers in favor of bathroom remodeling– this is an increase in the usable space of the bathroom and toilet!

For example, by removing the partition between the bathroom and the toilet and making one doorway, we get several useful solutions:

  • let's find a place for a washing machine
  • we will move the toilet and heated towel rail
  • increase the space for a comfortable and wide sink
  • There is an option to change the bathtub to a shower corner

Renovation of a combined bathroom with toilet

In Moscow apartments you can find both a very modest combined bathroom (2.2 - 3.5 m2) in old houses, and more comfortable combined bathrooms with an area of 4 m2.

Renovating and ultimately getting a large, comfortable bathroom is a challenge that we constantly face. The modest size of the separate bathroom and toilet “hints” us at redevelopment - combine a bathroom with a toilet.

  • by removing the old plumbing cabin (if there was one), the ceiling became higher
  • installation of a washing machine in the bathroom (for tiny bathrooms in Khrushchev buildings)
  • Can you implement some design solution?
  • there is one less door in the corridor
  • In a small bathroom, every square meter of space should be used as rationally as possible. You need to properly arrange the plumbing fixtures and immediately decide whether to keep the bathtub or replace it with a shower stall. If the toilet takes up a lot of space, it can be replaced with an attached or wall-hung toilet and installation. This should save a few precious centimeters.

It is better to use ceramic tiles as wall cladding light colors and small sizes (from 15 to 50 cm), so the combined bathroom will seem larger. If the tiles are rectangular, it is better to lay them horizontally. Don't forget about the mirror, a large mirror increases the space in the bathroom.

The ceiling should be white. It doesn’t matter what material to use: tension, painting or hanging. This is a matter of taste of the owners.

With complex renovation of a combined bathroom it is impossible to do without replacing all communications. Plumbing pipes it needs to be hidden in a box and covered with tiles, so the bathroom will look more modern and aesthetically pleasing.

In examples of our work you can find many different and interesting solutions in the reconstruction of combined bathrooms. From compact "Khrushchev" and "Brezhnev" buildings to quite spacious new buildings.

Combined bathroom - no room big size, in an average apartment. It varies from 3 to 5 square meters. If you approach the layout and choice of materials wisely, you can quite easily fit everything you need. How not to get lost in the variety of assortments and make beautiful renovation do-it-yourself combined bathroom at home?

    Step 1: Finish the Ceiling

If you decide to do the work yourself, then before choosing which materials for finishing the ceiling in the bathroom together with the toilet are better suited, you need to study all the types, their durability, environmental friendliness and moisture resistance.

    Today these criteria meet:

Let's look at each option in more detail.

    Whitewash

Whitewashing the ceiling is an inexpensive, easy-to-perform, but unreliable method. Over time, it begins to crumble and will cause a lot of inconvenience.

    Painting

Painting also inexpensive option for the renovation of a combined bathroom. For these purposes, it is recommended to choose acrylic paint, it lasts better and longer than others. But before carrying out the work, you need to perfectly level and repair the ceiling, otherwise all the cracks and even small irregularities will become noticeable.

    Tile

Tile is the oldest, most durable material that is safe for humans according to environmental standards. For a very long time, tiles have been used in bathroom renovations, until, among finishing materials, she is a leader in all indicators. The tiles are wear-resistant and moisture-resistant, easy to clean.

    Stretch ceiling

Today there is a large number of enterprises that install suspended ceilings. They are easy to clean, they install quickly enough, but they cost a little more than previous options.

The elastic material of such ceilings can withstand temperature changes, in addition, it looks beautiful and stylish, with its help all irregularities are hidden and, for example, a bathroom in a Khrushchev-era building visually becomes larger. Spot lighting can be conveniently mounted in such a ceiling.

For a combined bathroom of 4 square meters it is better to choose matte canvas, stains are not so noticeable on it after wiping off condensation, in addition, it is perfect if the room has a square ceiling.

    Types of stretch ceiling

The hanging structure can be of several types: slatted, tiled and made of plasterboard material.

In the first case, slats made of plastic and aluminum are used.

The second option includes rectangular and square plastic tiles. These materials are moisture resistant, not subject to temperature changes, easily replaceable elements, and easy to clean.

Moisture-resistant plasterboard appeared relatively recently, ceilings made of this material look fashionable, it is quite flexible and the design can be of any shape, it is possible to install spot lighting at different levels. This ceiling is environmentally friendly and can last up to 10 years.

Suspended ceilings provide an opportunity to hide uneven surfaces, pipes and wires, but their disadvantage is that they reduce the height of the room.

    Siding

Siding has a large assortment colors and textures, it is relatively inexpensive, moisture-resistant, easy to clean, and non-toxic. Assembling a siding ceiling is easy, even for a combined small bathroom of 3 sq. m and 4 sq. m.

    Step 2: Wall Materials

Wall decoration involves the use of some materials in the toilet as for the ceiling. For harmonious and stylish solution for a 3 sq.m bathroom you can choose the same base and color. The most commonly used are tiles, siding or paint.

    Tile

Ceramic tiles are the most popular option; they are moisture resistant, easy to clean, durable, very big choice, both in color and size.

If you buy tiles different sizes, you can play with location options - it will look modern and fashionable.

There are also additional ready-made options location of the tiles, they are offered in special departments of hardware stores. These include individual patterns, mosaics and small thin tiles, called borders; they can highlight a certain element in the bathroom, or be placed around the entire perimeter.

    Siding

Simple and inexpensive way wall decoration in a combined bathroom is siding. It does not require special assembly skills, unlike tiles. It can be either plain or with patterns. You can hide unevenness under it, it is easy to care for, but is easily damaged.

    Painting

You can make a unique room in a combined bathroom by painting the walls. Your imagination will help you make it plain, striped, with patterns or in a rainbow, but before you paint, you need to make the walls perfectly smooth, otherwise even the slightest flaw will be visible.

Step 3: Bathroom and Toilet Floors

Choice flooring not so huge, but still there.

    Linoleum

This can be linoleum, which needs to be laid as a separate sheet without joints so that water cannot seep under the covering, but when wet it is quite slippery, which can be dangerous.

    Parquet

Parquet is used very rarely, but it looks very beautiful, expensive and pleasant to the touch. If you choose the right material from such types of wood as teak, wenge, larch, impregnated with special moisture-resistant agents, then the parquet will serve you for a long time.

    Tile

Tile in small toilet still given more preference than other materials. The most commonly used material is porcelain stoneware; it is more durable, unlike conventional ceramic.

Before laying the tiles, you need to properly level the floor, otherwise moisture will get under the covering, and this can lead to unpleasant consequences in the form of fungus, mold or screed destruction.

    Cork covering

Also used for flooring during bathroom renovations in Khrushchev cork covering, which is used in swimming pools and saunas. At correct installation, which is better to entrust to specialists; such material will serve you for many years.

    Self-leveling floor

Modern self-leveling floors have become increasingly in demand - they are durable, practical and very beautiful, especially 3D images, which are very realistic.

Step 4: Shower stall or bathtub, regular toilet or wall-hung one?

Modern design solutions are increasingly inclined to choose wall hung toilets. They look unusual and stylish, and are easier to clean the floor under. The bowl takes up the same space as a regular bowl floor-standing toilet, but with the help of the cladding under which the system is hidden, you can gain space and place open shelves or a small closet. The installation hidden in the wall adds aesthetics.

There is a small disadvantage - it is a longer and more labor-intensive installation. Many people do not install this type of plumbing for fear that the bowl will fall, but this is rather a myth, since such toilets can withstand 300-400 kg.

Some people are just used to it ordinary toilets. His geometric shapes suitable for any bathroom.

Advantages: large selection, easy installation and low price, unlike suspended ones.

Regardless of the choice, it is better for the toilet to have smooth and even surfaces; they are easier to clean and look more stylish.

Often, in the process of repairing a toilet in a Khrushchev-era building, a good bathtub does not fit, but only a seated one, so a compact and relevant option for small combined bathrooms is a shower stall.

Those who like to soak in a hot bubble bath, and the space allows it, should not refuse this advantage.

Exists Alternative option The shower cabin consists of a tray and a curtain to prevent water from splashing. There are ready-made pallets that are sold in plumbing stores, but you can make your own, make a recess in the floor, and hide the drain under the covering. This version significantly saves space and also allows you to combine both a bath and a toilet.

In conclusion, I would like to assure you that a beautiful renovation of a small combined toilet is possible. The main thing is to follow the tips described above.

Below will be given different photos after all repair work has been completed.

When you move to new apartment, there is a completely natural desire to make it the home of your dreams and change everything there. Actually, this was the case for me too - I moved into a one-room apartment that probably saw renovations back in Brezhnev times. So, at the entrance we have an apartment with a separate bathroom and toilet, but it’s very small.

These are tiny spaces that are called “not turning around.” That's why we decided to combine the bath with the toilet. We have two advantages at once:

    • the bathroom becomes more spacious
    • instead of two doors in the corridor there will be one, which means extra bed in the corridor, which is also small.

    1. Here's what we have in the bathroom: small tiles on the floor, tiles metal-plastic pipes, partition between the bathroom and toilet – brickwork. We cleared the walls as much as possible of tiles and layers of paint. The sink was removed and will need to be replaced, but the bathtub was left in and is cast iron and in good condition.

    1. The ceilings in the apartment are at different levels, there is a niche hidden under the plywood, although it would have been possible to make a cabinet. However, this is no longer relevant; we will change the location of the door.

    1. Like this mosaic tiles decorated the walls of the toilet, you won’t see anything like this anymore.

    1. Branch risers from the toilet to the bath. As we see, the pipes in this old house have been replaced with new ones.

    1. The red brick partition is decorated with a decent layer of plaster - 3-4 cm, we knock down all this “wealth”. We will dismantle the wall. We will still need this brick.

    1. We carefully knock down this entire thick layer of plaster and remove the fiberboard panel that was used to cover the pipes in the toilet. We closed the toilet itself so as not to clog it. As you can see, there is plenty of dirt!

    1. We work the old fashioned way, with a wide chisel and a hammer. All this work could have been done with a hammer drill, but we didn’t have one. All the materials are already old, so the plaster and tiles are easily knocked down.

    1. This kind of wall was hidden behind a layer of plaster and tiles.

    1. The most difficult thing was to remove all this “beauty”, as we see, the workers did not spare the mixture.

    1. The walls are uneven - near the ceiling the thickness of the plaster layer reached as much as 6 cm.

    1. We knock everything down and remove the lamp.

    1. This is what the wall opposite the partition looks like, it is also brick. Ventilation grill knock it out and put a new one in its place.

    1. Now, finally, the most interesting thing - we dismantle the partition between the bathroom and the toilet; as I already said, we save the bricks, they are in good condition, so why spend money on unnecessary materials. We store whole bricks in the bathroom.

    1. This is what we get in the end when we have removed all the rubbish, knocked out the wall and door frame toilet, there will be a wall here.

    1. There will be some minor difficulties with the new floor, because there is a decent difference between the bathroom floor and the toilet floor, look how crooked the stool is.

    1. Now this difference needs to be leveled out as much as possible, using a hammer and chisel we knock off all the excess and remove two layers of tiles in the toilet.

    1. Look how much space there will be in the bathroom combined with a toilet; there will be room for both a sink and a washing machine.

    1. There is a lot of work to do with the floor in the toilet: check out the layer that has to be removed, almost ten centimeters, right down to the very base.

    1. We are preparing a place for the future wall, there used to be a door here, but there will be a wall; in the toilet, in this place you can place a cabinet or shelves for accessories. An excellent solution for such a small apartment.

    1. We arm ourselves with a trowel and a cement-sand mixture and build a new wall. Don't forget to use a level to make sure the wall is level.

    1. View of the new wall from inside the toilet. Simultaneously with laying out the wall itself, we seal the cracks. An old bathroom door frame serves as a wall boundary. Subsequently, we will break the old box and install new door.

    1. This is how the work goes: broken bricks are also used; they can be inserted into large cracks and then covered with the mixture.

    1. Outside view: this is how much space will be added in the corridor due to the fact that there will be no door. In a small area, every centimeter is expensive.

    1. The lamp was attached to the wall, but for now it’s just hanging on the ceiling. In the distance you can see a niche between the stove and the ceiling. Of course, it would be possible to make a locker, but we abandoned this idea, it would be too high and very unlikely to be used often.

    1. We seal it with bricks and seal the cracks. The old brick was not enough, so I had to buy a new one.

    1. Now it's time to dismantle the shaft with the riser. Everything had to be done extremely carefully so as not to collapse the toilet and disrupt communications. After all, it’s not easy to live without a toilet.

    1. They dismantled everything right down to the pipes. There is a hole in the floor. To antique cast iron pipe did not fall, we strengthen the floor with reinforcement, put boxes on the meters so that they do not get damaged during repair work.

    1. We close the hole at the site of the shaft with a cement-sand mixture.

    1. We level the floor between the bathroom and the toilet.

    1. We dismantle the toilet. We sew up the pipe riser. For this we needed metal profiles and the most common foam boards - they are cheap and absorb excess water noise. We leave an inspection window for access to the meters. We seal all the cracks polyurethane foam. Pipes for the heated towel rail are also installed here.

    1. We insert a new corrugation for the toilet. Before this it was cast iron, but now it is movable plastic, which means there will be no problems with installing a new toilet.

    1. Sew up the riser plasterboard sheets. We make notches on the walls so that the finishing materials stick better.

    1. This is the ideal riser we have in the end. It seems that the entire wall is sewn up, but this is not so - here you can see a hidden hatch so that we can have access to plumbing system. For this we needed furniture canopies and a push mechanism for the door.

    1. Now we can return to the floor, now it can be finally leveled to get rid of that unfortunate drop. Our helpers in this are: cement-sand mixture and a spatula. Leave to dry.

    1. Because our walls are very uneven. They will have to be properly leveled and you cannot do without an impressive layer of plaster. We are installing metal beacons for plastering, we will lose a couple of centimeters of space, but we have to sacrifice so that the walls are perfectly smooth.

    1. We prime the surface, this is necessary in order to strengthen the wall itself (do not forget that the brick is very old) and this will improve adhesion to the finishing material.

    1. Plastering process. As we can see, the layer turns out to be impressive, 3-4 centimeters.

    1. Thanks to the fact that we have beacons installed, we can see which layer needs to be applied.

    1. This is what it looks like in the end. Let it dry.

    1. We cover the entire surface of the walls with plaster, then prime.

    1. Let's move on to the floor. Our floor will be laid out square tiles diagonally. This is the styling method lightweight tiles you can't name it, but it's worth it. This arrangement visually increases the space, and because our bathroom is small, we will try to add volume at least visually.

    1. Before we started laying the tiles, we prepared the surface - leveled it, filled all the holes and potholes on the walls and floor, and primed it. The primer composition improves the adhesion of the tiles to the floor. After applying the primer, let it dry.

    1. This is the beautiful floor we got in the end. Light-colored tiles again add space, and thanks to the pattern, dirt and drops are not visible on them.

    1. It's time to remove the old door frame and install a new door. We dismantle the thresholds.

    1. We assemble a new door frame and install it in the opening. To prevent the door beams from bending, we place wooden wedges between the wall and the frame.

    1. The bases of the box themselves were secured using metal corners. External wall The bathroom is also plastered.

    1. The door is the simplest, made of chipboard. Firstly, such a door is inexpensive and suits our interior quite well. We hang it on the hinges. Then we carefully foam all the seams and cracks between the box and the wall.

    1. New toilet - new toilet. Installed in place of the old one. Now we move on to preparing the walls for laying tiles. Our tools are a spray bottle, which is very convenient for priming walls, simple and comb spatulas, and crosses. I attached a level to the wall; it will serve as a starting profile.

    1. Mix the tile adhesive. It’s very easy to check whether it’s ready - take a trowel or spatula and scoop it up: if it doesn’t flow right away and fall off in a piece. This means the consistency is ideal, if it’s too liquid, add glue mixture, if thick - water.

    1. We have already pre-made notches on the wall for better adhesion between the wall and the tiles and covered with concrete contact for the same purpose. We draw marks for the tiles and check everything with a level.

    1. We begin to lay out the support row, do not forget to use seam crosses, they guarantee that there will be no distortions.

    1. We perform the same manipulations with the other wall - we use a plumb line to check whether the walls are vertical, and fix the starting level.

    1. This wall is the most difficult - here we have communications. Here you have to rack your brains on how best to arrange the tiles so that you don’t have to cut a lot. Posting decorative border, we have it as a guide - where there is no profile (above the taps), a board was attached under the tile so that the tile does not move out.

    1. Use a diamond drill to drill a hole for the wiring, bring out the wires - this is where the lamp will be located.

    1. Another difficult area is the space above the door, there is no support row, so to ensure that the tiles do not move, we will use good old tape.

    1. As you can see, we are not laying the tiles all the way to the ceiling, this will come later suspended ceiling, so we leave 5 cm.

    1. Grout the tile seams.

    1. We have tiles in two shades of beige. Lighter tiles on top and darker tiles below help make the space appear larger.

    1. It's time to mount new heated towel rail. Mark the holes for the fasteners and drill them.

    1. Installing a heated towel rail is not an easy task; to install it you have to install a hook in the ceiling and hang it.

    1. The holes are made on the wall, we add the tiles and in the same places we make holes in the tile itself.

    1. We attach the dryer to the wall.

    1. Now all that remains is to lay out the broken tiles in the corner.

    1. We complete the installation process. In order not to confuse the cut tiles, we number them, which makes the work much easier.

    1. Another way to save space in a tiny bathroom is to recess the pipes into the wall. First, cuts were made with a grinder, and then grooves were hollowed out with a chisel, chisel and hammer, where the pipes were placed. A new faucet was installed.

    1. Now you need to make holes in the tile itself. To do this, we will use a special drill bit round holes. We install it on the drill and at low speeds in a couple of minutes we get a neat hole.

    1. Glue the tiles and grout them. No more pipes will spoil our bathroom.

    1. This is what our bathtub looks like at this stage. We install the ventilation grille.

    1. Alas, the pictures end there, but the repairs do not. All we have to do is decorate the ceiling. This will be a suspended ceiling made of aluminum slats. As we have already said, our main goal is to maximize the space, so we chose a glossy rail.
    2. Spot lighting helped us ensure that the bathroom is very bright and therefore seems spacious. Then we hung a new sink, and closed the space under the bathtub with a special plastic screen in colour.

As a result, we greatly transformed the bathroom and got extra space, both in the bathroom itself and in the hallway. In the free space you can put washing machine and hang shelves. The renovation turned out to be budget-friendly; we made the most of what was still quite usable (brick, bathtub) and chose the most inexpensive materials.

    Reading time ≈ 9 minutes

Apartment owners, especially in older buildings, are often faced with the question of a bathroom combined with a toilet. Such bathrooms are far from uncommon in countries former USSR, but it’s only 3 sq. m. usable area, and sometimes less, so in this case the principles of ergonomics as a discipline are very important, despite the fact that the bathtub is just a bathroom. In this article you will find valuable tips on arranging this room and saving space, as well as accompanying photos and video materials.

    Small bathroom design

    Basic principles of plumbing placement

When renovating a small bathroom, the main problem is the placement of plumbing fixtures, as there is simply not enough space for them in the room. This is not surprising, because the area of the room can sometimes be less than three square meters.

    Bathroom door

The door to a small bathroom should open outwards

Perhaps someone will be surprised that in most “Stalin” and “Khrushchev” buildings the door to the bathroom, contrary to the rules fire safety open inward rather than outward. But at that time, the priority was the requirements of the NKVD (a door that opens inward is easier to knock down), but not the situation that a person could find himself in during a fire. If we take into account that in 99% of the layout the toilet was located exactly opposite the door, then when installing a new, longer device, the panel will rest against it. So the only way out here is swing opening towards the hallway (don't forget about this during the renovation process).

    Riser and toilet

Connecting a toilet to an old vent tee

Regardless of whether there is sewer riser in your apartment or in your bathroom there is a fitting from your neighbors, it is made of cast iron and has longer length. The connection was made in the following order:

    • a fan tee with a 30⁰ or 45⁰ outlet has crashed into the sewer riser;
    • Another tee was inserted there, but the outlet there was 75 mm in diameter and at an angle of 90⁰ - this is for connecting the sewer pipe from other appliances (sink, bathtub, kitchen sink);
    • a straight socket was inserted into the outlet;
    • the toilet was connected to this socket (the neck was inserted directly into a cast-iron glass and sealed with cement or tow with bitumen).

Because of this assembly, the plumbing fixture moved too far from the wall, but it was short, so there were no problems with opening the door.

For it will be correct not only to hang door leaf with the expectation of external opening, but also to replace the fan fittings. Here the unit is assembled in the following sequence:

    1. a rubber reduction is inserted into the fan tee embedded in the riser to switch to a polyvinyl chloride tee with a diameter of 110 mm (DN 100 mm);
    2. A PVC tee with an outlet diameter of 50 mm and an angle of 90⁰ is inserted into the reduction for connecting other plumbing fixtures. In this case, a straight socket is not installed, and the PVC tee is 5 cm shorter than the cast iron one. As a result, the toilet can be moved closer to the wall by 10-15 cm.

    Water supply and sewerage installation

Another way to save useful space in a small bathroom is the peculiarity of the routing of water supply pipes and. In the old layout of the plumbing utilities, all pipes are installed externally. This method takes up a certain part of the free space, and in addition, has an adverse effect on the aesthetic design of the room. But modern renovations provide for the camouflage of such communications under the cladding.

The simplest option for masking water and sewer pipes is to lay them under the sheathing plasterboard finishing. But in this case, only an aesthetic issue is solved, and the problem of reducing the area becomes even more pressing, so for a small bath such a solution is unacceptable. It is best in such situations to hide the wiring in the walls and floor. They make grooves in the wall, as in the top photo, and on the floor they simply cover the pipes with a screed.

    Bathroom interior

Bathrooms of small sizes can be different, that is, the shape of the perimeter of the room is in the form of a rectangle, or with a cut corner, as in Khrushchev-era buildings. Therefore, ideas for arranging plumbing fixtures may also differ from each other. Let's take the option for arranging plumbing, which is proposed in the image below, and calculate it by millimeters (naturally, we will use economy class appliances so that they fit).

Option for the location of plumbing fixtures: 1) door, 2) toilet, 3) washing machine, 4) sink, 5) bath

Let's go from left to right, taking into account the width of the installed point and the gap, if necessary:

    • bath – 700 mm;
    • sink – 400 mm (if it is not a cabinet, but a tulip, then you can install it so that part of the sink hangs over the bathtub to save space);
    • automatic washing machine with vertical loading - 400 mm plus 10 mm of clearance to the sink;
    • toilet - 400 mm plus 30 mm to the automatic machine and 250 mm to the wall;
    • the minimum width of the room is 700+400+400+10+400+250=2160 mm or 2.16 m.

Note. The distance may not be 2.16 m, but approximately 2.1 m, if you install the sink so that its edge hangs over the bathtub - this will not harm the interior in any way.

Dimensions of a combined bathroom in a Khrushchev building

Above you see another version of a small bathroom in a house built according to a design from the times of N.S. Khrushchev. But how can you arrange all the necessary plumbing fixtures? I’ll say right away that this is impossible - in order to install in such a room automatic washing machine, you will have to replace the bathtub with a shower. If you don’t like the cabin and prefer to soak in the bathroom, then to install the washing machine you will have to sacrifice the sink.

Option for the location of plumbing fixtures: 1) door, 2) toilet, 3) sink, 4) shower, 5) automatic washing machine

And here is the principle of arranging plumbing fixtures, but in a combined Khrushchev-type bathroom, that is, the wall on the hallway side is beveled, which also takes up part of the space. The cabin should be placed in a corner, as shown in the sketch and its optimal size 800×800 mm. An automatic machine with vertical loading is also installed near a short wall (1.3 m) - its width is 400 mm. But a side-loading washing machine will not fit there, since it is 600 mm wide - 800 + 600 = 1400 and this is without a gap!

Along the other wall, in one row, in addition to the shower stall, they install a sink (the gap to the cabin is at least 5-10 mm) and a toilet (the gap to the wall is 250 mm, but there is no need to reach the sink - you can even hang one edge of the sink over the toilet). Therefore, here you will need 800 + 10 + 400 + 400 + 250 = 1860 mm, and for a wall of 185 cm this is too much. But don’t forget that the edge of the sink can hang over the toilet cistern, which is minus 5 cm, so all the units will take up not 186, but only 181 cm - there’s enough space.

Advice. Most likely, for DHW you will have to install electric boiler, unless, of course, the apartment has autonomous gas heating With double-circuit boiler, which according to the rules is installed in the kitchen. It is most convenient to hang a boiler in a bathroom on the wall above the washing machine or above the mixer, which is located at the foot of the bath.

Arrangement of plumbing fixtures in the presence of a sewer riser in the bathroom

When renovating a bathroom combined with a toilet, as in the photo above, you see a way to place some units on 3 sq. m, while the sewer riser here is not with the neighbor, but inside. You may not agree with this, but it is already easy to do it on your own. What I said above about opening doors in such cases when the riser takes up part of the area is most relevant, since the door leaf, when opened inward, will not turn further than the toilet.

    Color and light

The bathroom is tiled with orange tiles

Most often, the lining of plumbing units is done with the help of - this is not only beautiful, but also practical, since ceramics are not at all afraid of moisture, it is impact-resistant and does not require any cleaning with special cleaning or detergents. Here all that remains is to choose the right color, both for the plumbing fixtures and for the room itself (walls, floor and ceiling).

The bathroom is tiled with turquoise tiles

Do not forget that you are renovating a small bathroom, so you can use the possibilities visual increase space. This is facilitated bright hues and shades, which means it’s best to buy all the plumbing fixtures white, but not black, green, blue and so on. Ceramic tiles It is also better to choose in light shades, even if you use a combination of tiles. Don’t be afraid of cold tones: white, silver, blue, light green, gray - this is normal for a bathroom, especially since they can be diluted with tiles of a different color.

    Built-in Spotlights

You can also visually increase the size of the room if you light it properly and use different lighting, which you can install yourself. These are recessed and overhead spotlights on the ceiling, wall mounted appliances in the form of plates and half-plates, sconces and near-mirror, provided by the manufacturer of the hanging mirror. The greatest effect is achieved when using several options simultaneously.

It is also desirable to know the quantity required material and its price: this is necessary when allocating funds for purchases. The correct calculation will show which materials can be purchased from a higher price category, and which ones you can save on.

It is best to choose pipes from cross-linked polyethylene: they are the easiest to install and do not require experience, they are also reliable and protected from leaks. The guaranteed service life is from 50 years. Metal-plastic pipes also do not require installation experience, but they are less reliable. Polypropylene pipes somewhat better than the previous ones, but they are difficult to install without experience; their installation requires welding machine. Sewer pipes made of cast iron, it is also better to replace them with new ones. At the same stage of work, the hood is installed.
    4. If it is necessary to level the walls, it is done with plaster. Before this, the walls are primed. It is better to level the floor using sand concrete, but before that it also needs to be primed. 6. The tiles are laid using a level. During the installation process, you need to monitor the seams: they must be even, run parallel, and also coincide in the right places. Then everything is erased. The contact points between the tiles and the bathroom, as well as the corners between the tiles themselves, are sealed using sealant. Its color can be matched to the grout.
    7. Tension or slatted ceiling installed after the main finishing. If it is of a different type, then its installation is carried out immediately after plastering.
    8. After execution finishing works plumbing is installed and the necessary furniture is brought in.
