Installation of sewerage from PVC pipes, installation in a private house. Installation of sewerage from plastic pipes: assembly technology and system installation diagram How to install plastic sewer pipes

Sewerage laying – important stage in the construction of a private house. If there is no public sewerage system, then in order to equip it completely autonomous system drainage system, it is necessary to lay a network delivering wastewater from sanitary and technical household appliances to the collection well. Installing a sewer system for a private home is not a quick task, but when independent execution there should not be any serious difficulties. The help of specialists may be required only in the most difficult sections of the pipeline.

The drainage system of a private house consists of internal and external sewerage and a collection well. In cottages with more than two floors with their own bathrooms, the sewer network is additionally equipped with a drain pipe.

Water supply and sewerage systems are usually designed and installed simultaneously, since the same plumbing and household equipment are connected to them.

Laying order sewer network:

  • Prepare a pipeline design taking into account all the devices connected to it, a slope of 2-3 cm per linear meter, and calculate the amount of required building materials.
  • Purchase pipes, connecting elements and fittings.
  • Cut the pipes into lengths in accordance with the project.
  • Carry out internal wiring and bring the sewer pipe outside.
  • Install the drain pipe.
  • Lay external drainage.
  • Build a collection well and connect a pipeline to it.

Internal wiring

The indoor sewage system is assembled in such a way that its lowest point is where the pipeline exits to the outside. In order not to make a mistake with the angle of inclination, you can start assembly from this point.

If you have a project, the connection order is not important, but you must strictly follow the rules for performing internal wiring:

  • Each device and functional section of the pipeline requires a pipe of the appropriate diameter: for the riser and toilet - 11 cm, for showers, bathtubs, kitchen sink- 5 cm, for everything else 3.2 cm is enough, but if several devices are connected to one pipe at the same time, its diameter must be at least 7.5 cm.
  • Since wastewater moves through the pipes by gravity, a pipeline slope of 2-3 cm per linear meter is required.
  • The connection of the pipes must be sealed and not impede the free flow of liquid: the pipes are connected along the flow, and there should be no roughness or burrs at the junction.
  • Right angles should be avoided, as this is where blockages most often form. To perform a turn, it is better to use several elbows with smaller angles.
  • It is necessary to prevent backflow from the sewer and penetration unpleasant odor to the house. To do this, a siphon or an S-shaped bent pipe is installed on the pipe of each plumbing fixture, which acts as a water seal.
  • If the house has several floors and each of them has plumbing, a common riser should be installed.
  • Toilets are installed closer to other household and plumbing fixtures to the riser.
  • Pipeline units cannot be installed in areas where walls or ceilings pass through.
  • Holes for passing pipes through walls and ceilings are cut with a margin; it is advisable to insert special sleeves or sections of wider pipes into them.
  • The connection points to the riser and pipeline turns are equipped with a tee with an inspection window closed with a plug. Through these windows, pipes will be cleaned in the future if they become clogged.
  • The riser is located as close as possible to the place where the sewage system is discharged to the outside.

The comfort of residents of an apartment or private house is impossible without high-quality sewer system. Imported furniture and chic design in the rooms have no weight if they leak sewer pipes. Therefore, before laying a water supply system, proper installation of PVC sewer pipes or cast iron structures is required. Let's consider the features of working with a plastic pipeline, since outlet communications are increasingly made of PVC. We'll tell you about the algorithm of work, share the secrets and tricks of professionals.

Selection of materials for sewerage

In 99% of cases, when installing sewer systems, plastic pipes (polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene) are used. Benefits of communications from synthetic materials– in lightness, ease of assembly, resistance to hydrothermal loads and corrosion, durability.

PVC products are most often used when laying sewers

Note: For sewer structures you can use plastic parts much smaller thickness than for water supply, since the pressure is lower.

Diameter is the key factor to consider. This value depends on the type of plumbing equipment. Minimum diameters:

  • bidets and sinks – from 32-40 mm;
  • showers and baths – from 50 mm;
  • if more than one device is supposed to be connected to the pipe - from 70-85 mm;
  • main risers – from 100 mm.

Before you begin installing sewer pipes with your own hands, draw up detailed diagram future system communications with calculations of consumables. Calculate the number and footage of parts and fittings.

Treat joints and fastening points with fittings with sealants for strength.

Using a common drain for several plumbing fixtures will save money and space in the room, and the result will be more aesthetically pleasing. Select required diameter pipes based on the above recommendations - sink, bathtub, washing machine can be connected to one pipe going to a common riser. The toilet must be connected directly to the riser - separately.

Preparatory work

It is possible to dismantle sewer pipes and lay new communications in a private house within a day to several days, in an apartment - from 1-2 to several hours. An illiterate approach and lack of a plan will drag out the event for weeks. Therefore, prepare thoroughly before starting work.

  1. Determine the type, location and quantity of plumbing fixtures, pipes and fittings.
  2. Make a diagram.
  3. Calculate the stock of additional parts needed for the operation of the system (meterage of the structure, consumption of mixtures and fittings, count with a reserve).
  4. If in the future you plan to install additional plumbing with a sewer drain, it is rational to leave a drain for it with a plug. Otherwise, you will have to change the system and dismantle the sewer pipes again.
  5. Buy consumables.
  6. According to the diagram, calculate the length of the sections, cut the pipes, taking into account the dimensions of the purchased fittings.

When marking a PVC product, make marks around the entire circumference

How to cut and strip PVC pipes

To cut plastic parts, just as when installing cast iron sewer pipes, use a hacksaw.

Cutting algorithm:

  1. Mark the location of the cut in a circle - this will ensure a smooth edge, which will ensure the tightness of the joints.
  2. Cut strictly at a 90° angle.
  3. Then trim the ends sandpaper or a knife.

Keep in mind that the drainage system is installed on a slope, since the sewerage works based on the force of gravity. Fix the slope with brackets on the walls. You need to buy them in advance along with other materials.

Installation of sewerage from PVC sections

To avoid leaks and inconsistencies, when assembling the sewer system, it is recommended to move in the direction from the riser to the plumbing fixtures.

Attach the PVC communication to the wall every 100 cm, this will prevent subsidence and breakage

Instructions for installing sewerage from plastic pipes:

  1. Mark the axes of pipelines, places of fastening to walls and other surfaces.
  2. Assemble fasteners from pipes, pipes and fittings using sealed rubber bands. Insert the parts into each other until they stop. Make sure that the surfaces to be bonded are clean. Dirt will break the seal of the connection. And this leads to leaks and the appearance of an unpleasant odor due to moisture condensation (at joints, from sinks, bathtubs and the sewer itself).
  3. Connect the structural parts, check the horizontal and vertical to ensure that the fastenings are level and secure.
  4. Fasten the products with clamps, lay horizontal structures to siphons and plumbing outlets.

Advice: to increase the tightness, craftsmen advise lubricating the ends of the segments with non-acidic sealants, soap solution, auto sealants or glycerin-based lubricants.

  1. When the system is assembled, connect all the plumbing fixtures one by one, including siphons from the bathtub and sinks.

Rules for laying sewerage indoors

Try to reduce the number of joints and turns; seamless communication is more reliable and durable. Every fastening point is a potential threat of future leaks; turns increase the risk of blockages.

For a high-quality result, follow the rules for installing sewer pipes:

  1. When working with plumbing fixtures, take into account the characteristics of the material; each mixing unit has its own technology.
  2. When calculating the diameter of products, take into account the slope angle and the number of connected devices. In the area of connection to the riser, use a diameter of 100-150 mm.
  3. Direct the sockets of the riser and horizontal sections towards the flow of wastewater.
  4. If, before laying new communications, sewer pipes in an apartment or house were dismantled, use plastic parts of the same diameter as the old ones.
  5. For horizontal wiring It is allowed to use a diameter of 100 mm, as in the case of a toilet riser; for other single fasteners, 50 mm is sufficient.
  6. The slope of the system should be 4-7 cm per 1 m.
  7. To prevent the sewer from sagging, attach sections to the walls every 100 cm.
  8. Be sure to include fan ventilation in the drawing. This will help regulate the pressure in the drain compartments and get rid of unpleasant odors.

Preventing blockages in PVC pipes

Despite the fact that in the event of a breakdown, removing PVC pipes is easier than dismantling cast iron sewer pipes, this is a troublesome undertaking and costs money. To avoid having to tear down or replace installed communications in the event of a blockage, provide “cleanouts” with plugs. Another preventive measure is additional vertical outlets for air check valves(a diameter of 50 mm is sufficient).

For cleaning possible blockages leave the revision with a plug - this will simplify access to the clogged area

Audits with removable covers when installing pipes for external sewerage installed every 15 m. For internal systems - at the junction of horizontal sections with the riser. This step will make it easier to clear the drain if it becomes clogged.

How to test your sewer

Upon completion of work, conduct leak tests of the sewer system.

Verification options:

  • turn on all existing plumbing fixtures at the same time;
  • Fill a bucket of water, pour it in one gulp into the sink, then into the bathtub.

During the inspection, examine all joints and connections. If no problems are found, the test is successful. If there are leaks, secure and re-treat. problem areas sealants or construction glue. After the insulating substances have dried, perform the tests again.

During tests, pay attention to joints and fastenings to fittings

The quality of the home sewer system should not be inferior in reliability to the water supply or electrical network. If the sewage system in an apartment is installed efficiently with your own hands, it will last for decades, provided that installation standards are observed and high-quality materials are used. Supplies.

Do you doubt your abilities and are afraid to make mistakes? We will help you competently design and install a sewer system. The main thing is to take into account all the basic requirements, choose the right pipes and adhere to the installation technology described in the article.

Before you select pipes and everything you need, before starting work you need to understand the principles of operation of the sewer system, including observing the angles of inclination so that the pressure in the riser is slightly higher than atmospheric.

Otherwise atmospheric air will squeeze unpleasant sewer gases directly into the apartment. If the internal pressure is too high, waste gases may be released from the siphons.

Let's take a closer look at all the nuances of the sewage system in the apartment.

Pipe slope is an important condition for the functioning of the system

When laying the highway, you must maintain a horizontal angle, which must be within certain limits. An insufficient one will not allow the wastewater to flow normally into the riser. If the slope is too great, the water will drain quickly, leaving contamination on the walls of the pipe.

Monitor the slope to achieve optimal fluid flow in the sewer and correct pressure in the pipes. Pipe slope standards must comply with SNiP (+)

The paradox is that with high “fluidity” the sewer system will become clogged.

Dependence of the pipeline laying slope on the pipeline cross-section:

  • 30 mm/m at 50 mm;
  • 20 mm/m at 110 mm;
  • 8 mm/m at 160 mm;
  • 7 mm/m at 200 mm.

Thus, the maximum slope should be within 150 mm/m. Exceptions are bends up to 1.5 m long for some plumbing fixtures, for example, a toilet.

Unite sewer pipes at a right angle is possible only in a vertical orientation according to the waterfall principle.

The composition should be neutral - it is better to use polyurethane or silicone. Sealant must be applied to each plastic gasket. There is no need to apply anything to the rubber seals.

Need to lubricate external part pipe that will be in contact when connected, as well as inner part pipe We connect each section separately. After the sealant has hardened, you need to check the entire system for leaks by running water into the drain from all plumbing fixtures, including the bathroom. In this case, there should not be a drop of water on the floor.

Such necessary element improvement of a private house, cottage or summer house, like sewerage, is, first of all, the first necessity and priority task for any owner.

In areas where central sewer lines run very far and there is no possibility of connecting to them, landscaping living conditions comfortable toilet, bathroom or kitchen is not an easy task.

The difficulty lies in the specifics of the implementation installation work, selection special materials, equipment and components.

Also knowledge of all the intricacies, features, rules and regulations on how to properly install a sewer pipeline and connect it to all types of plumbing, as well as to a drain pit, septic tank or any treatment facility.

Important! First of all, the necessary pipe slopes for a particular system are taken into account autonomous sewerage. This is done in order to ensure normal drainage and filling of the chambers of the drainage pit or septic tank.

To avoid a volley discharge of liquid household waste every time or, conversely, too slow drainage of feces and dirty greasy water so that the waste accumulates and stagnates in the pipeline system, forming blockages, therefore, the optimal pipe diameters are also taken into account.

The width of the pipe also affects the flow rate, and therefore the filling of the sewer tank.

The presence of a ventilation system is one of the conditions for a normally functioning sewage system.

To avoid unpleasant accidents and negative influence on human health due to the accumulation of gases in pipes, and then the pressure and evaporation of their gaseous particles, ventilation hatches, wells, and valves are installed in internal sewerage systems and external pipelines.

If the maximum length of the connecting section of the pipeline with the toilet is more than 1 meter, and all other types of plumbing are more than 3 meters, then such sections must be equipped with an additional ventilation pipe that brings the accumulation of gases through the roof to the outside.

Strong and reliable pipe connections in an autonomous sewer system are the key to its long-lasting and excellent operation. There will be no maximum strength of connections in pipeline sections - get ready for repairs and troubleshooting on the sewer route in just a few years.

Important! Therefore, careful consideration must be given to the study and selection of the types of connections and the materials and elements involved. These are all kinds of fittings, adapters, couplings, tees, crosses, rotating parts and many other elements connecting pipes.

Also used various methods connections of metal or plastic sewer pipes:

  • welding;

  • flange connections.

All of them are quite strong and good, if only they are carried out in accordance with the technologies and recommendations of specialists.

The most common and popular materials from which sewer pipes are laid are plastic and cast iron. Moreover, the use of plastic sewer pipes has long been replacing the use of cast iron.

And although the latter are no less practical to use, despite the fact that they are demanding to maintain and labor-intensive to install, they nevertheless continue to be used.

In any case, no matter what material the pipes are used from, in order to produce high-quality pipes, you should always know step by step instructions, which may be relevant for a particular sewer system device.

Cutting plastic pipes

In the process of installing sewer networks made of plastic pipes, an obligatory step is cutting the pipes to the required length.

There are different types of plastic pipes, but most often the following options are used for sewer installation projects:

  • polyethylene (PE);
  • made of polyethylene low pressure(PND);
  • polyvinyl chloride (PVC);
  • polypropylene (PP) – reinforced and non-reinforced;
  • metal-plastic.

These types of polymer compounds and plastic material They are very resistant to the aggressive environment of sewage, resistant to corrosion, do not become clogged or “overgrow” with all kinds of mineral deposits inside, and are also durable (they last more than 50 years).

But in order to cut pipes of the required length from any plastic material, you will need to stock up necessary tools and available equipment, as well as knowledge of how to do it correctly.

For example, carelessly cut and uncleaned ends of pipes leave gaps at their joints through which domestic wastewater liquid will leak.

The tools that are used for cutting plastic pipes are each designed for a specific type of work, are easy to use, and are also very practical because they allow you to achieve excellent results in specialized processing of pipe ends and alignment of their diameter.

So, tools for cutting plastic pipes come in the following types:

  • pipe cutter;
  • special scissors and guillotines;
  • gauge or calibrator (needed, depending on the type of plastic).

Pipe cutter

A roller pipe cutter, for example, is excellent for cutting plastic pipes with a diameter of up to 38 mm. It has a number of advantages - it makes cuts neat and even, without jagged edges, without bending the pipe diameter to oval shape because it works on the principle of a seaming machine for preservation.

The roller allows you to adjust the density of connection and joining of the cutting sections of the pipe cutter to the pipes.

First, one or two turns are made around the pipe, so the roller is tightened, and then a few more turns are made before the final cut.

Photo: roller pipe cutter

The only drawback of such a pipe cutter may be the limited working space. If you need to cut already installed pipe, and it lies next to the wall, then such a device simply will have nowhere to turn around.

Then, for such sections, pipe cutters of a different type are used (for example, single-pass). Thanks to the roller pipe cutter you can a short time slice maximum amount pipes

Pipe cutting shears

Special scissors for cutting pipes, as a rule, can come complete with soldering irons or welding machines. Thanks to a very sharp knife with a flat, wide but short blade, the cuts of plastic pipes are smooth.

Photo: pipe cutting

And thanks to the semicircular holder located under the knife, the pipe will not bend during cutting, which eliminates the need for additional alignment of its ends.

Simple and cheap models of such scissors cut pipes with a diameter of up to 26 mm, and more powerful scissors can handle pipes with a diameter of up to 42 mm.

The only drawback when working with such a tool may be rapid fatigue of the hands due to unaccustomment (this applies to a large volume of pipe cutting).

Chamfer remover

The task of such equipment is to remove the top layer or edge of the ends of plastic pipes along the diameter in order to improve adhesion during their welding.

The diameters of the pipes that the chamfers cover, of course, vary depending on the model of the device itself.

Photo: chamfer

For example, manual bevelers can service pipes from 40 to 300 mm, which is a fairly wide range of its operating capabilities.

You can work with a manual chamfer right at the installation site of the sewer system and can make chamfers even at an angle of up to 15 degrees.

Caliber

A gauge is always necessary when working with reinforced plastic pipes because it does a very important work by cleaning the aluminum layer on the pipe cut before soldering them, and also chamfering, removing burrs and other irregularities of the cut ends.

Calibrators very well align the shape of the end of the pipes, turning it from oval to round. This is important point for the entire process of connecting pipes using welding.

Each calibrator is suitable only for a certain pipe diameter. However, they process ends cut at 90 degrees. This is the only way to make the connection as high quality as possible, without leaks.

Photo: caliber

Important! All work on cutting plastic pipes must be carried out in accordance with the instructions that come with a particular cutting tool.

This is necessary so that you can avoid poorly cut ends or various traumatic situations associated with the operation of a particular tool.

Fitting and installation of sewer plastic pipes

In order to correctly connect and lay plastic pipes, you need to know some features of the installation process, taking into account and implementing which allows you to create an excellent sewer system that can last for many decades.

These features include:

  • any type of threaded connection of polymer pipes is always sealed with rubber gaskets or special FUM tape;

Important! In the case of a socket, only rubber gaskets must be used, and in the case of connecting a plastic pipe with a metal one, any sealant must be used.

  • when plastic pipes are connected threaded connection using couplings, you should insert the end of the pipe with a chamfer into the coupling until it stops, and then slightly move it back, about 1-1.5 cm;

This must be done so that the resulting minimum internal gap allows the pipe to be protected from deformation during linear expansion during the supply of hot sewage effluent. There is no need to worry about the tightness of the connection in this case because it is ensured by the rubber sealing ring inside the coupling.

  • very important for the sewer where it will drain hot water, use precisely the movable connection of pipeline sections, and therefore most often for internal sewerage use threaded or any other removable connections. Welding here can only be suitable for HDPE pipes and polypropylene pipes;
  • in places where sewerage is connected to plumbing, it is best to use flexible connections: hoses, corrugations, soft pipes and others.

All work on the installation of sewerage from plastic pipes is carried out practically according to the same scenario:

  • markings are made on the walls, floor, at the points of connection with the plumbing with a simple pencil or marker from the line of the fitting socket to the next connection, from the place that discharges the drains, the pipe to the connecting elements of sinks, bathtubs, toilets and other fixtures for the bathroom or kitchen;
  • Next, the pipes themselves are laid using any chosen method of connecting them: by welding or special connecting elements and fasteners to the walls (this is necessary so that the pipes do not sag);
  • All connecting areas must be free of dust, debris, paint or adhesive. Especially carefully, before connecting a particular piece of pipe, the internal surfaces of the pipes are checked;
  • elbows or bends, which have inclinations of 22.5, 45 and 90 degrees in their design, can be connected to the pipeline or plumbing using adapters. Tee fittings are used in cases where it is necessary to make a branch from one line of sewer pipes to another.

Installation of cast iron pipes

Due to the fact that they are very heavy, experts recommend installing them not by one person, but by at least two.

The entire installation process proceeds according to the following scheme:

  • the tail part of a cast iron pipe with a straight end without a socket is inserted into the socket of a pipe that is already installed. This may be an outlet pipe, or it may be part of a pipeline network;

Photo: installation of cast iron sewer pipes
  • all gaps between the edges of the end of the socket and the inserted surface of the straight pipe are sealed using a sealant, such as linen tow soaked in grease, machine oil or any other lubricant;

Photo: sealing pipes using a sealant

The flax tow is hammered (“caulked”) into the gaps to 2/3 of the volume of the socket using a wooden spatula, gently tapping it with a hammer. At this stage it is important to ensure that the linen material does not get inside the pipe joint.

  • the remaining distance is filled with a simple unimpregnated sealant because any impregnation with oil will weaken further adhesion to the cement mortar;
  • then the socket is filled to the very end with a solution of cement grade M400 or 300 with water in a ratio of 9:1. The solution must be compacted in the socket so that it sits tightly;
  • a wet rag is placed on top of the drying mortar, which will prevent cracks from appearing in the cement;
  • instead of cement mortar can also be used for plumbing silicone sealant, bitumen mastic, as well as asbestos-cement mixture
Photo: socket connection without O-rings

This method is most often used at junctions cast iron pipes between themselves, however, where a connection with a plastic corrugated pipe is required, all sorts of special couplings and adapters are used.

The connection areas with the coupling are also sealed using silicone sealant.

Installation rules

Normal pipeline slope

Most often, an autonomous sewer system is equipped as a non-pressure sewer system, i.e. one where all household waste liquids flowed by gravity to a storage tank or sewage treatment system.

Important! To ensure that liquid waste does not overfill the drainage pit or chambers of the septic tank, and also to prevent it from stagnating in the pipeline, it is necessary to lay sewer pipes at a certain slope.

This is done from the plumbing fixture to the internal pipeline, then to the external sewer network and further towards the septic tank or drainage pit.

The used slopes from 0.8 to 3 cm ensure a normal rate of flow of wastewater to the storage or sewage treatment tank.

The optimal speed for sewerage for a private house or cottage is always taken from 0.7 to 1 m/s (SNiP 2.04.01-85).

Photo: sewer pipe slope

There is a certain percentage of the width of the pipes that is accepted as the norm to ensure sufficient drainage - from 2 to 15 units.

This means that the difference between the diameter of the end of the pipe at the point where the plumbing equipment is connected to the sewer system and between the width of the pipe that goes into the drainage pit or septic tank should be from two to fifteen centimeters.

The size of the pipes also plays a big role in the normal flow of liquids.

The most optimal pipe diameters for different sections of autonomous sewerage are:

  • the washbasin and bidet are connected to pipes with a diameter of 32 to 40 mm;
  • the sink and bathtub are connected to pipes with a diameter of 50 mm;
  • the toilet bowl and drain pipe for drainage are mounted to pipes with a diameter of 100 mm;
  • the riser and places where several plumbing fixtures are connected at once are installed on pipes with diameters from 70 to 85 mm.

Insulation of sewerage pipeline

The rules for installing sewer pipes also include their insulation. This is especially true for pipeline installations such as those located in areas where soil freezing occurs at a depth of less than 50 cm.

Photo: insulation with a heating cable; insulation of a sewerage pipeline with fiberglass

Pipes are insulated with glass wool or fiberglass by wrapping, covering with polyethylene and fixing with wires.

Ventilation system of autonomous sewage system

The presence of ventilation of the sewer pipeline allows the entire system to operate unhindered and not accumulate all kinds of gases that can be formed from various compounds contained in household waste liquids.

Moreover, these compounds can be both chemical and organic.

Chemical inclusions are those that enter the sewer pipeline system with detergents and cleaning agents, and organic inclusions include feces, bacteria (if you use aerobic bacteria for cleaning and decomposition of fecal matter), products of rotting, decay and other elements that in one way or another can form gases.

Gaseous substances tend not only to ignite or create pressure in pipes, but also to evaporate, causing harm to human health and damage to the environment.

If the house has several floors and there are several sewer risers, then ventilation should be located in each riser. Exit ventilation to the outside, in such cases.

Photo: sewer outlet through the roof, sewer outlet through the wall

Usually done through walls or roof. For sewer pipes of several risers, aeration valves can be used as additional ventilation.

As for ventilation wells in sections of external pipelines, they need to be installed closer to septic tanks or drainage pits, as well as near the drainage pit itself.

This is done so that gases do not accumulate inside the pit and inlet sewer pipe related to the sewer pipe network.

Prices for installation work

Prices for installation of sewer pipes, both for external and internal networks, do not differ much between regions of the Russian Federation. In averaged values they present the following picture.

  • installation of a pump for forced flushing (installed if the drainage of household waste and feces is not carried out by gravity).

For carrying out similar works the cost is either negotiable or varies depending on the complexity of the work.

If you want to know and try to do it yourself, then you need to study in detail all the options, installation methods and recommendations of specialists high-quality installation pipes, both in internal and external sewer systems.

Important! It should also be understood that all these recommendations, installation rules and advice will differ for the installation of pipes made of plastic or cast iron.

That is why there is such a need to clearly know all the steps involved in installing sewer pipes.

Video: installation of sewer pipes

The main difference between plastic sewer pipes and cast iron ones is the ease of their assembly. While their predecessor was assembled using oiled rope and sulfur, modern sewer pipes are installed using rubber seals. In addition, the very weight of plastic pipes contributes to simple and easy installation, and in general, installation of sewerage from plastic pipes can be compared to assembly children's construction set. This will be discussed in this article, in which, together with the website, we will understand the layout of sewer lines in a house or apartment, as well as the principle of connecting plastic pipes to each other.

How to lay sewer pipes

Installation of sewerage from plastic pipes: installation of a sewerage system

The main factor influencing the design of any sewer system is the natural flow of water. If we disassemble the drainage system from this side and draw parallels with the water supply system, then the sewerage system is its complete antipode - the water supply system branches, and the sewerage system, on the contrary, combines several branches into one large sleeve. But let’s not get into the weeds - our task is to deal with it.

So what do we have? The drain point into which the wastewater coming from all plumbing fixtures and siphons of the latter go, which need to be connected with a plastic pipe to the drain hole in the riser. In essence, this is the routing of sewer pipes, and it looks like this. Along the walls from the drain hole in the riser to the farthest water consumer, a main pipe, to which every plumbing fixture encountered along its route is connected via tees. As you can see, nothing complicated.

Installation of sewerage from plastic pipes photo

Now the nuances, without which laying sewer pipes is impossible.

How to install plastic sewer you can watch in the following video clip.

Laying sewer pipes: connecting system elements

In principle, connecting a plastic pipe and, for example, a 45° elbow to each other is quite simple. The point here is different - how well can you combine these elements?

It should be understood that the installation of plastic sewerage pipes is not carried out for one year or even for 5 years - such a system is installed once and for a long time. Therefore, build quality plays a key role.

In addition, incorrectly assembled pipe connections will lead to minor leaks. But what’s even worse is that in these places there will be leakage from the sewerage system, which will not disappear even by force.

Do-it-yourself installation of plastic sewer pipes photo

In many ways, the quality of the assembly of sewer pipes is ensured by sealing gaskets, which come in three types: single-feather, double-feather and double-feather with a plastic ring. Most novice masters do not attach importance to this, and some deliberately ignore it. The fact is that pipes with single-feather rubber bands are assembled very easily without the use of special lubricant, but pipes with double-feather gaskets, and even with a plastic ring, are very difficult to connect even with the use of lubricant. Here's the attitude to the matter - such craftsmen attribute their shortcomings to the quality of the pipe itself and correct them for some money using silicone, which can only superficially seal the seam.

Let us return to the question of how sewer pipes are connected? Let's start with the gasket - a lot depends on how it is inserted into the socket. There shouldn't be any distortions here. If the rubber is initially deformed, then it is better to throw it away and install a new and straight one. By connecting pipes with a crooked or deformed seal, you ensure that this joint leaks in advance. In general, you need to make sure that the elastic is in the correct position.

Pipe installation PVC sewer photo

Let's move on and talk a little about lubricant, which makes pipe connections easier. To make rubber slippery, you can use anything - soap, detergents, and even Vaseline, if available. There is only one “but” - how will the sealant you choose affect the rubber? Will you be confident that it will not change its properties? Will the rubber harden after six months? Such a seal will not be able to fully perform its tasks. For example, detergents ( household chemicals) destroy the seals. Soap, although it has less impact on them, creates a film that is destroyed, after which a gap remains in its place. In general, my point is that you need to use a special lubricant with the addition of silicone. Why not silicone itself? It's simple, it is aggressive and corrodes rubber even faster than household chemicals.

The biggest problem is the circumcised ones. The factory end has a chamfer, which ensures a free connection of pipes and elements with each other - on a cut pipe you will have to do this chamfer yourself. It will need to be sharpened with a grinder and thoroughly cleaned of the resulting rags. This chamfer turns out to be rough and creates some difficulties when assembling pipes, but it does not have any effect on the quality of the connection.

Well, the last point, which affects the quality of the assembly of the sewerage system as a whole, is the fastening of the pipes. You understand that if you ignore this step, the joint will be broken and, as a result, there will be leaks and a counter-slope, which leads to rapid repair. The sewerage system is attached in increments of 1 m or near each socket if it is assembled from small sections of pipes.

That, in principle, is all you need to know about installing sewerage from plastic pipes. By following the simple rules described above, you will be able to assemble a high-quality, and most importantly durable and problem-free sewer system with your own hands.
