Needed in the steam room. Ventilation device in the steam room of the bathhouse

Without a steam room, the bathhouse becomes an ordinary room where people wash. It is steam that has healing properties, rejuvenates the body, gives strength and good spirits. At first glance, setting up a steam room is not particularly difficult. This small room has a minimum of architectural delights. However, when arranging it, it is necessary to comply with a number of important rules. Only then will the steam room be able to bring real pleasure to lovers of a real Russian bath.

It is necessary to design a steam room before starting construction of a bathhouse. Its dimensions will depend on many indicators.

When making calculations, it is necessary to take into account the following nuances.

The first sketch below shows small sauna with a steam room in which only sitting places are placed on the shelves.

The other two pictures schematically show more spacious rooms in which you can steam while lying down.

1), 10), 11) Clothes hanger, wardrobe.
5), 7) Benches.
2) Rest room.
6) Shelf.
3) Steam room.
8) Doors.
4) Wash room.
9) Oven.

By schematically depicting the location of the stove and shelves in the steam room, you can calculate its dimensions in advance and avoid annoying mistakes during construction.

Type, power and dimensions of the stove. According to fire safety standards(), the stove should be located in the bathhouse at a distance of at least 32 cm from wooden structures. If the walls are protected non-flammable materials, then you need to retreat 26 cm from them.

An iron stove has high power, compact dimensions and the ability to quickly heat even a large steam room. However, its surface becomes very hot, and there is a risk of accidental burns in case of careless actions. In view of this. In the steam room, there should be a free distance between the shelves and the iron stove.

Installation example metal furnace in the steam room

A brick heater does not heat up so quickly and its size is much larger than a metal one. However, it retains heat longer and it is impossible to get seriously burned on it. Therefore, there is no need to locate the oven at a significant distance from the shelves.

When installing an electric heater, it makes sense to make the steam room as small as possible. This will save energy when heating the room.

So, when planning a steam room, you should carefully think through everything at the construction stage. After the walls, partitions and roof have been erected, you can begin directly to work on interior design steam rooms

Floor installation

The flooring in the entire bathhouse is done first. The floor level in the steam room should be higher than the level of the clean floor in the wash room.

There are several options for its design.

Wooden floor

The simplest installation is wooden floor. To do this, support logs are installed on the foundation.

Planed boards 50 mm thick are screwed onto them at a distance of 5-10 mm from each other.

It is important that there is at least 50 cm between the floor and the ground level, and that there are openings in the foundation for fresh air.

This will provide good natural ventilation in the steam room, and the boards will dry evenly after finishing bath procedures. However, this flooring option should only be used in areas with warm and temperate climate. In northern regions, such ventilation can cause the heat from the steam room to dissipate too quickly.

Concrete floor

A concrete floor in a steam room can last much longer than a wooden one. However, the costs of its arrangement will be slightly higher. In addition, it will be necessary to additionally lay a finishing coating on it.

Before starting installation work cement screed in the steam room and washing room, you should dig a pit 10 to 15 cm deep to drain water. Its walls can be secured with cement or tiles. An iron grate is placed on top of it. From the pit, water will flow through the drain pipe into the sewer.

As soon as the water drain is ready, you can begin installing the screed.

The clean floor level in the steam room should be higher than in the washing room. Therefore, before starting work, a mark is made on the walls to which the floor structure will reach. And then they put down the distance from it that is necessary to lay all the layers of the screed.

Vapor barrier and ceiling finishing

High-quality insulation of the ceiling in the steam room is of paramount importance, since hot air from the stove rises to the top. Therefore, it is unacceptable to have places on the ceiling through which it could easily go outside.

Ceiling insulation work is carried out in the following sequence.

WorksIllustration
A water vapor barrier is attached to the floor beams.
It could be:

Foil with a density of at least 100 microns;

Foil penoizol with a thickness of 5 to 10 mm;

Water vapor barrier membrane “Izospan”, “Megaflex”, etc.

For installation use construction stapler and staples with a height of 8 to 12 mm. The tool must be well adjusted to prevent breaks in the protective membrane. The strips are attached with an overlap of at least 20 cm, the joints between them are carefully glued aluminum tape. Along the edges, the insulation should extend 15 cm onto the walls of the steam room.

After attaching the hydraulic protection to the floor beams, screw it strictly according to the level. wooden slats 50 mm wide and 25 mm thick. The distance between them should be no more than 70 cm. Before installation, they are treated with an antiseptic composition.
Linings made of linden, birch or aspen are attached to the slats. Finishing material placed perpendicular to the sheathing boards. Installation begins on the opposite side of the door.

Fastening is done either with galvanized nails or with clamps.

From the attic side, grooves are made in the floor beams and transverse fasteners for the chimney are inserted into them.
A rectangular opening for the chimney is cut out on the ceiling.
A layer of insulation with a thickness of 150 to 200 mm is laid between the floor beams in the attic.
A wind and vapor barrier membrane is rolled out over the insulation and secured with a furniture stapler.
Then the floor boards are installed in the attic.

Wall insulation

If the walls in the bathhouse are built from foam blocks or frame technology, then the steam room requires additional insulation. The inside should be a cold-proof thermos that will perfectly retain the heat emanating from the stove. This will save fuel, which is used for heating and maintaining the desired temperature in the steam room for a long time.

Before starting work, an opening is cut in the wall to install the stove.

Then a wind and vapor barrier film is attached to the walls.

On next stage basalt non-combustible insulation is tightly laid between the bars.

basalt wool

After this, a water vapor barrier is nailed to the bars with galvanized staples.

As protective material can be used:

    foil with a density from 150 to 200 microns;

    foil foamed penoizol;

    waterproofing membrane for baths.

Strips of moisture-resistant material are nailed with staples, overlapping each other by at least 15 cm, and the joints are sealed using special tape.

Then slats 25 mm thick and 30 to 50 mm wide are horizontally attached to the bars using galvanized self-tapping screws at a distance of 70 cm from each other. The sheathing should be installed as level as possible; for this you should use laser level or plumb line. Installation begins with the two outer slats, then a cord is pulled between them. And already focusing on it, they nail down the remaining parts of the sheathing.

At the next stage, the clapboard board is directly attached. To do this, use either ordinary galvanized nails 40-50 mm long, or special clamps.

The principle of fastening clamps into the groove of the board

Finally, even holes are cut in the walls for ventilation. They are masked from above with plugs or flaps. If necessary, install a fan in the supply or exhaust opening.

Prices for lining

If the walls in the steam room are made of logs or profiled timber, then they do not require such careful insulation. In this case, it will be enough to attach foil or foil penoizol to them. Then nail the sheathing and install the lining.

Furnace installation

The stove in the steam room can be installed in iron, brick or electric. The location for it should be chosen at the bathhouse design stage. The furnace firebox can be located both inside the steam room and outside it.

Installation procedure in a steam iron stove:

Installed on a pre-prepared platform or hung on the wall using special brackets. It does not require installation of a chimney.

It is imperative to observe the distances specified in the instructions from the oven to the walls and shelves.

Brick oven

The brick oven is laid out at the stage of construction of the bathhouse.

Only that part of it that will contain the stones should go into the steam room. It is best to place the firebox in the dressing room or outside.

Door installation

The door in the steam room is installed last. It should close tightly and not let heat out. Doors made of solid wood or tempered glass are best suited for this purpose.

Installation wooden door consists of the following steps:

    a doorway is adjusted under the casing;

    The “casing” cannot be screwed to the beam, it must move freely along the grooves, the gaps between it and the wall are carefully caulked;

Another way to install a wooden door is to cut grooves into the opening.

They install wooden blocks so that their edge does not reach 5-10 cm to the top of the opening. And the door frame is already directly attached to them.

Fixing the frame to the rail and hanging the door

Glass doors are attached to special hinges.

How to make shelves correctly

The number of shelves in the steam room depends on its dimensions. Their height is selected depending on the height of the owners of the bathhouse. In the standard version, three-level shelves are allowed, each of which is 35 cm in height. However, it is also possible to have two shelves. In a small steam room, the lower level of the bench can be equipped with retractable mechanism and move out as needed.

First you need to choose the shape of the shelves and assemble the frame. It is best to make it from larch. There are quite a lot of options for its location. It can be rectangular or angular.

On top installed frame lay wooden panels.

The boards in them should be spaced loosely, at a distance of 1 cm from each other.

Shields should be made from linden or aspen. Coniferous wood is not suitable for this purpose, since under the influence of high temperatures resin is released from them.

Efficient ventilation

An important stage in arranging a steam room is. In its absence, prolonged stay in the steam room becomes unsafe for human health. Improper installation of air ducts can lead to heat loss and unnecessary costs for fuel to fully heat the room.

You should not make a hole for the ventilation duct directly on the ceiling of the steam room. This will lead to large heat losses, and hence a decrease in the effectiveness of bath procedures.

The most common are several options for the location of ventilation ducts in the steam room.

Location optionDiagram or illustration
The oxygen supply comes from the opening, which is located behind the stove; a fan is mounted into it. The distance from the floor is 25 cm. The outflow is carried out naturally through a gateway, which is located on the opposite wall. The lower it is located, the better.

During the actual bathing procedures ventilation holes in walls can be closed with valves. And then open them as needed.

Galvanized or stainless steel pipes. Apply plastic structures not recommended in the steam room. The pipes must be secured using special clamps.

It must be remembered that the diameter exhaust duct should be slightly larger than the supply air.

Having decided on the ventilation scheme, you should make holes of the required size in the walls or floor.

Their diameter depends on the area of the ventilated room, but it cannot be less than 100 mm. Then you need to insert ventilation ducts into them.

The remaining distance between the wall and the pipe must be filled with non-combustible insulation. Attach a protective grille on the street side.

Electricity

At the final stage of arranging the steam room, installation is carried out electrical wiring. All switches and distribution boxes must be located outside the steam room and shower room.

The wires are laid in corrugation on top of the lining.

In the steam room, they are covered from above with wooden plinths.

Lights in the steam room should be protected by wooden grilles.

Video - How to properly decorate a steam room in a bathhouse

A bathhouse is truly a sea of health and a sea of pleasure; more than five years ago I built myself a mini-sauna at my dacha outside the city. My bathhouse is in the basement of my house, I steam like this two or three times a week - and believe me, in these five years I have absolutely not been sick with anything, I have never even had a simple cold or runny nose. So I recommend everyone to make a small sauna at their dacha; by the way, it will cost very little, steam rooms have a simple inexpensive finishing, and stoves today are sold for very inexpensive price(an electric oven is best) and they are also quite compact and mobile. However, if you build yourself a mini-sauna, be sure to purchase all the necessary accessories - this is very important for your health. Such supplies and accessories include: universal bath caps, special sheets, bath slippers, scented pillows, bowls, watering cans, bath basin. But one of the most important bath accessories is, of course, a universal hat for baths and saunas. At first, when I came to the bathhouse for the first time, I was very surprised by this outfit.

At first, it took me a long time to understand why grown-up guys (I was only nine years old at the time) put warm hats on their heads when they take a steam bath. It would seem that in the bathhouse everyone usually undresses and does not dress, in general, I was very surprised by this outfit. The reason for this outfit is, of course, heat And high humidity in the steam room, at first the hat seems like an unnecessary outfit, but it is very important. That is, a bath cap is not at all an extra element of bath accessories, and without such a headdress it is better not to enter at all, and even less so into the sauna. So when you build yourself a bathhouse, or simply visit a public bathhouse, it is better to buy yourself a bathhouse cap in advance, which will protect your head from overheating. In a hat, your hair will not heat up, so nothing will threaten your health, that is, the hat protects you from possible overheating - after all, the temperature in the bathhouse reaches 60-70 C. It is also important not just to choose any hat, it is important right choice The material of the cap, for example synthetics, is absolutely not suitable for this.

It is best to buy a hat made of cotton, linen or, best of all, wool, preferably 100% wool. In principle, you can buy such hats in any bath accessories store, and by the way, they cost mere pennies, usually they cost 35 - 60 hryvnia, but they are also available for 17 - 20 hryvnia. In addition to the fact that without a hat you are at risk of overheating, the high temperature in the steam room can also greatly worsen appearance your hair. Especially if it is a Finnish sauna where the temperature reaches 100 C, without a hat, even severe heat shock or even a slight burn to the head is possible. The hat itself is like a heat insulator that absorbs moisture and prevents your head from overheating. But make sure that the cap is not wet, because wet fabric easily conducts heat, so it is no longer a heat insulator, but an excellent conductor of heat. It is dangerous to be in the steam room without a hat, but a wet hat in the steam room is doubly dangerous because heat stroke is possible. Don't forget to wash your bath cap every few times you go to the bathhouse.

Over the many centuries of the existence of the Russian bath, the almost magical procedure of cleaning and healing with the help of steam has turned into a whole science, representing a set of rules on how to steam properly and how to behave while steaming. In fact, hot air has a very powerful effect on the body; failure to follow the rules can lead to the fact that a wonderful procedure, contrary to expectations, will cause harm to the body.

How to take a steam bath correctly - a few rules that visitors to the steam room should adhere to

Among the basic rules, experienced steamers name the following:

  • if a person feels unwell, it is better not to go to the steam room,
  • jewelry, glasses, watches should be left in the dressing room,
  • You should not move much in the bathhouse,
  • lovers of contrasts can take a shower while relaxing, plunge into ice water or plunge into snow, of course the latter is only possible in winter, but it should be remembered that rest, even a short one, is much more important than contrast,
  • to feel higher temperatures you should move to the top shelf, to cool down - to the bottom,
  • rest after steaming should last no less than 20 minutes, taking a shower during it is mandatory,
  • You should not dry your skin with a towel after the steam room - it should dry on its own; warm air will facilitate rapid drying.

Some of these rules require more detailed decoding.

Best time to visit the bathhouse

You should not go to the bathhouse immediately after eating, or even worse, alcoholic drinks; the best time to visit the bathhouse is one and a half to two hours after eating. It is advisable to consume liquid in a reasonable amount; alcohol should be avoided altogether.

If during the day a person was engaged in heavy physical labor, then before visiting the steam room he should have a good rest, but if the work was mental, he can go to the bathhouse without a rest break.

The time for receiving steam procedures should be chosen so that the process takes place without unnecessary fuss, so that it is possible to enter the steam room several times, it is advisable to organize it so that each stage takes place without fuss.

You should also provide enough time for rest - short after each approach and longer - at the end of the procedure. Otherwise, it will be difficult to get quality rest nervous system, complete relaxation.

What to take with you to the bathhouse

Particular attention should be paid to the essential attributes, without which a Russian bathhouse simply cannot be considered one. The main one is the broom. Moreover, a popular proverb says that a broom in a bathhouse is the head of everything, depending on what branches were used to make the broom, it can be used to expel various ailments:

  • birch - to relieve joint and muscle pain, remove purulent pimples on the skin, treat coughs, it also works as an excellent sedative;
  • oak will benefit people with oily skin - it will give it elasticity and matteness, lower blood pressure, heal wounds on the skin;
  • if a trip to the steam room is organized in the morning, then it is best to use a broom made of tansy grass and rowan branches - this will not help relax the body, its use, on the contrary, will invigorate and give energy for the whole day;
  • a linden broom is the best remedy for colds and headaches; it will have a diuretic effect, promote increased sweating, and dilation of the bronchial passages;
  • broom from coniferous species trees will reduce the manifestations of rheumatism, help with treatment various kinds inflammatory processes in the body, coniferous brooms can be harvested throughout the year.

In addition to a broom in the bath you will need:

  • a robe or large terry towel, a sheet,
  • small towel for sitting,
  • soap, shower gel, shampoo,
  • pumice and washcloth,
  • comb, massage brush,
  • flip-flops or flip-flops,
  • a hat or towel for making a turban - it is better not to expose your hair to high temperatures,
  • change of linen,
  • Be sure to wear a wool mitten so that you can hold the broom comfortably.

Wanting to get maximum benefit for health, before visiting the bathhouse, you can prepare a cleansing mask from salt (200 g) and honey (250 g); if honey causes an allergic reaction, you can prepare a mask from egg yolk, yeast and sunflower oil(1 yolk per 1 tablespoon of yeast and 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil).

How to take a steam bath correctly - we begin preparing for the procedure

Having served in the bathhouse, first of all, you should take care of the brooms - they are washed under warm water in the shower, shake lightly and pack into plastic bag, tie it so that only the handle shows, leave it in a heated steam room for 5 minutes, on the top shelf.

While the broom is warming up, you should take a shower, but you should not get your hair wet. Women should completely remove makeup.

You will also need to prepare sprinkles:

  • in one bucket with two liters hot water pour in 10 ml of eucalyptus tincture - to water the walls,
  • into another bucket - pour 10 ml of mint tincture - to spray the stones.

In the locker room, you should remove all metal jewelry and watches - when heated to high temperatures, they can cause skin burns.

Be sure to protect your head with a hat or turban. Only after this you can enter the steam room.

If a person does not have experience in steaming, then before entering the steam room it is best for him to stand for a few minutes under a hot shower or at least take a hot foot bath. The same measures should be taken by elderly people or those suffering from high blood pressure (of course, if they are allowed to visit the bathhouse at all.

Before entering the steam room, you should not wash with gel or soap - they will remove fats from the skin, which can protect it from burning, especially if a broom is used. You should wash with a gel or shower after visiting the steam room - this will help wash away all the salts and toxins that have come out through the pores from the surface of the skin.

Steam room in a Russian bath - procedure for taking procedures

Since the shelf may seem too hot, you should lie down on it after spreading a towel. If the room temperature is optimal (+90 C) and the humidity reaches 10%, then the first entry should be limited to 10 minutes. How long is recommended for rest in the dressing room? After two visits, you can take a short cool shower or swim a little in the pool, then lie down in the dressing room.

Only then start steaming. With adjustable heating, you should bring the temperature for the first entrance to the steam room to +60 C; after staying in the steam room for several minutes, you can begin to gradually increase the temperature.

Since the temperature on shelves of different levels has significant differences, you can start from the bottom shelf, then move to the middle and top, in which case the vessels will have time to expand sufficiently and ensure the normal functioning of the body at maximum temperature loads.

It is best to steam while lying down - in this case, the whole body will warm up at the same temperature. It is recommended to keep your feet on a stand. You should also periodically turn from side to side - this will reduce the load on the heart. When leaving the steam room, it is recommended to douse yourself with warm water and rest in the dressing room for about 5 minutes.

The next time, to increase the heat, a simple method is used in a sufficiently heated bath: 200-300 ml of water is thrown onto the stones; this will not increase the temperature, but the steam content in the air will increase. At the same time, you should not allow the air to become too humidified - the steam will become heavy and breathing will also become harder. In a Russian bath, the temperature should be maintained at about +60 - + 80 C, with a humidity of 20 to 40%.

For those who are steaming for the first time, this will be enough; it is best not to use a broom.

How to use a broom

Past preliminary preparation The wet broom should be held for some time under the ceiling of the steam room. Use a broom for a massage that enhances blood circulation and warms up the body. When leaving the steam room to rest, you should take brooms with you - it can wither from the high temperature. A dried out broom is dipped into a bucket of water, but then the water is thoroughly shaken off - the splashes will over-humidify the air, and the steam in a Russian bath should be quite dry.

Anyone who will use a broom should wear mittens made of natural material- wool is better; the head should be covered with a woolen cap or other comfortable headdress. You should not use a rubber cap as a headdress - it will squeeze blood vessels and impede blood circulation, which is extremely harmful to the body.

You should go steaming in a group, or at least together - someone will need to spray steam on a person lying on a shelf, armed with a broom. Steam treatment should begin from the back, i.e. The person steaming should lie on his stomach.

First, hot air is blown on the legs, then raised to upper parts bodies. The broom acts as a fan and continues to move the pores until the skin is covered with drops of sweat. Then the person must roll over onto his back, and the entire procedure will need to be repeated.

You can whip the whole body of the steamer only during the second pass; the force of the blow should be commensurate with the temperature in the room - at high temperatures the blows should be weaker. You should not immediately leave the steam room after steaming - you should sit silently on the bottom shelf and gradually cool down. After leaving, you need to stand under a warm shower and cool down in the rest room or dressing room.

The time of soaring with a broom during the second run should be reduced to 5 minutes.

Breathing in the steam room should be done with an open mouth. The time spent in the steam room and the number of visits should be adjusted depending on how you feel; if it is normal, then you can make 2-3 sessions of 10 minutes each; in this case, 10 minutes between each session will also be enough to rest.

Warning! If suddenly a person begins to feel a rapid heartbeat, difficulty breathing or dizziness, then he should leave the steam room immediately.

Refreshing water treatments after the steam room

If after the steam room you plan to swim in a cold pool, ice hole or plunge into a snowdrift, then the body will need to be warmed up very well - in this case, with sudden cooling even with sub-zero temperatures It's impossible to catch a cold. But you shouldn’t get too carried away with cooling procedures - they should be short-term.

After swimming in the pool or cooling off in the frosty air, you should take a warm shower and sit in the dressing room. You should not dry yourself after water procedures - this will increase sweating. You can only wipe your face and hair. You should not get dressed until sweating stops completely. It is best to rest lying in the dressing room for about a quarter of an hour.

How to quench your thirst

Naturally, increased sweating caused by staying in a room with fairly high temperatures will cause severe thirst.

For drinking, you should prepare kvass, lemonade, mineral water, fruits or juices. You can also make tea. It is not recommended to drink cold drinks: cocktails, milk, beer. It is also prohibited to drink alcohol, both during and after vaping.

Myths about the Russian bath - should you believe them?

Losing weight. There are some myths about the bath, but experts put forward quite impressive arguments that cast doubt on their veracity. For example, the statement that by visiting a steam room you can lose weight is not entirely fair - the weight will decrease, but due to a sharp loss of moisture. This “weight loss” lasts a maximum of a day, the amount of moisture in the body will be restored during this period, the high temperature does not contribute to the resorption of fat deposits. To get real results you will need to visit the sauna regularly, weekly. At the same time, all organs begin to heal, metabolism is activated. It is this fact that can have an impact on reducing body weight. Without the help of a competent steamer, such results are unlikely to be achieved.

Hypertension. There is a widespread belief that hypertensive patients are strictly contraindicated from visiting a Russian bathhouse. Actually moderate thermal effect on the body helps to dilate blood vessels and lower blood pressure. Therefore, it is wise organized process can help a person get rid of the disease. Of course, you should discuss the possibility of taking bath procedures with your doctor. If your blood pressure rises to high levels, you cannot plan a visit to the bathhouse - it is better to consult a therapist and follow the course of medication prescribed by him.

But in any case, when visiting a steam room, hypertensive patients are not recommended to experience too sudden changes, for example, jumping into a pool with cold water, a sharp change in temperature can cause vasospasm and the pressure will again make a sharp jump upward, it is better to cool down in a moderate temperature shower.

Is it possible to steam on an empty stomach? The opinion that it is healthier to steam on an empty stomach is incorrect. The ideal time gap between eating and visiting the steam room is two hours.

It is advisable that the menu include dishes that help retain moisture, such as:

  • fruit salads,
  • soups,
  • vegetable salads, for example - vinaigrette.

such food will prevent sudden dehydration of the body, which can occur under the influence of high temperature.

Hello, uv.site. I'm building a Russian bathhouse and wondering if it's worth installing a window in the steam room. In the washing room it is, of course, needed to provide ventilation. And there are conflicting opinions about the steam room online. I personally think that the window will only cause heat loss. You won’t be able to look outside anyway, because you’re lying on a shelf. If it’s for light, then they mostly steam in the evening. You still need to turn on the light bulb. So what's the point of installing a window?

When constructing a steam room, it is usually based on the type of bathhouse. If you (as indicated!) are in a Russian bathhouse, then the steam room will be very humid, because when steaming they pour water or herbal decoctions on the stones. So ventilation in this room is also needed. The window acts as a fan. When you open the doors and windows wide after the bathhouse, all the steam escapes from the premises in one gulp. It is burst ventilation that is considered the most effective for the preservation of wooden bathhouse structures. In a Russian bathhouse you really can’t admire the view from the window, as it will always be foggy. As for heat loss, it all depends on the size and quality of the window.

Panoramic windows are rarely installed in steam rooms, because special tempered glass cost more than the entire bathhouse, and ordinary frames will cause significant heat loss

Parameters and location of the window in a Russian bath

Once upon a time, windows were installed very tiny, only to allow steam to escape. This was due to the fact that the steam room did not have the proper level of thermal insulation, which can be created today using foil-coated materials. And it was important to preserve every degree of heat.

Now the windows are thicker, and the quality of installation of the baths is better, so the heat loss from installing windows is much less. But it is important that your window solves the following problems:

  1. Provided good drying of the room after finishing the bath procedures. And for this it is best to mount two small windows: above the shelf and below it.
  2. Excess steam and temperature could quickly evaporate if you overdo it with firewood. To remove excess heat, opening the doors is not enough. We need to create a draft.
  3. Could be an additional exit in case of fire. Fire departments always recommend that in rooms with a high fire risk, create a window of such a size that you can jump out through it in case of fire at the door.

It follows from this that installing a blind window is useless. It must definitely open.

Above the shelf, a window provides temperature and humidity control, as well as burst ventilation. Under the shelf - keeps the tree healthy. It is opened in the warm season, when the bathhouse is not used, in order to completely dry the floor and walls. IN summer period the greatest likelihood of wood rotting and fungus damage. Simple ventilation drives out visible pairs, but everything that has settled on the structures must be dried gradually. This is why they open the bottom window slightly, allowing air to flow freely through the bathhouse.

Without a lower window in the steam room, the safety of shelves and other wooden structures is more difficult to ensure, because there will not be an adequate level of ventilation

Window material: wood or plastic?

When choosing a window for a steam room, take into account what is there temperature regime and the humidity is off the charts. If you use plastic, it will more easily withstand the wet mode of a Russian bath than a dry type of sauna. In a hot, dry room, plastic begins to warp and melt. Moisture slightly inhibits this process. But the tree is more afraid of humidity, and can swell in “wet” bathhouses. Perfect option– special windows for baths, where the glass is tempered and the frame material is created taking into account high temperatures.

A very useful addition is infrared spraying on back side window. It blocks passage out infrared rays, which take away the heat from the steam room. Therefore, the steam room will maintain the same temperature for longer.
