Irina Slutskaya (38 years old)

(Photo: Evgenia Guseva/KP)

Irina Slutskaya has many awards, including two Olympic medals and seven world championship gold medals. In 2006, Irina left big sports and became a TV presenter. Then she began to build a political career. The figure skater was elected as a deputy of the Moscow Regional Duma from the party " United Russia" Slutskaya has two figure skating schools in the Moscow region. Irina Slutskaya is married to a former boxer Sergei Mikheev. The couple has a son Artyom and daughter Varya.

Medvedeva’s wife is only 16 years old, she, just like her peers, loves beautiful dresses, high-heeled shoes, shopping, listening to music, although she has practically no time left for this: most of time devoted to grueling training. Yes, such is the contrast in the lives of athletes: yesterday you became a world champion, and today you have to prepare for exams at the school where you appeared for Last year four times.

Zhenya was born in Moscow and was already skating at the age of three and a half - her mother, a former figure skater herself, brought her to the sport. During her short sports career, Medvedeva managed to change three coaches - now her mentor is Eteri Tutberidze, it was she who helped her student achieve so many victories. Already at the age of 12, Zhenya became a member of the Russian national team, and in 2014 she began performing among adults.

Today, after winning the World Championship, Medvedev is popular not only in our country, but also far beyond its borders. She has over forty thousand followers on Instagram and this is just the beginning! In addition, the figure skater finally and irrevocably conquered the Japanese. This is not surprising, firstly, the inhabitants of the Land of the Rising Sun know how to appreciate real fragile beauty, and secondly, this love is mutual, because Zhenya loves anime and even knows a poem in Japanese.

Zhenya has as many as ten gold medals, two of which are already in adult competitions, including the most important one to date - the gold medal of the 2016 World Championship.

Elena Radionova

By the age of seventeen, Elena Radionova had collected a solid collection of trophies: in 2015 she became the champion of Russia, a year earlier she took silver at the Grand Prix final, and then silver at the European Championship in Stockholm, bronze at the World Championship in Shanghai and silver at the World Team Championship in Tokyo. Elena has been training from the very beginning to this day at CSKA with Inna Goncharenko, which, by the way, is very rare: meeting your coach the first time is sometimes an impossible task for athletes.

As Lena states in her interviews, training takes up more than just everything free time, and all the time in general, so that even studying seems like something incredible, Radionova finishes the 10th and 11th grades as an external student, teachers in Russian, mathematics and English come to the figure skater right at the skating rink. And, despite the almost doll-like appearance and a large number of fans from all over the world, Lena’s heart belongs only to sports.

The number of Elena's fans is confidently approaching a million - they send her gifts and declarations of love from all over the planet, but Elena's mother remains her first adviser and most important viewer - she dreams that her daughter would be like figure skater Carolina Cosner.

Anna Pogorilaya

Anna Pogorilaya, bronze medalist of the 2016 World Championship, has five gold medals. In just a few years, Anna captivated the world not only with her undeniable charm, but also with her high-profile performances on the ice. Since her sports career, which for Anya began at the age of 4, the figure skater missed only one season - due to a leg injury, but quickly recovered: sport does not like to wait. By the way, Anya chose figure skating herself, unlike many other children who are brought to the skating rink by their parents. For a long time, Pogorilaya’s mother could not decide where to send her daughter: to ballet, gymnastics or figure skating. Anya chose ice and began her training at the Constellation skating rink in Anna Kharchenko’s group.

Initially, Pogorilaya was not predicted to have a great future - she did not show any special results, and suddenly - a bronze medal at the Junior World Championship, and then the final of the adult Grand Prix! To date, Pogorilaya already has three World Championships under her belt, and this is far from full list her sporting achievements. Anna trains under the guidance of Anna Tsareva and does not plan to stop there; the new figure skating star is only 18 years old, which means our Anya still has a lot ahead of her. In addition, between constant training and travel, the ice princess manages to study at the Institute of Physical Education, although she does not appear at lectures very often.

Anya considers her main fans to be her mother and father, who worry about every start of their daughter, but she considers her brother, who is three years older than her, to be a calm admirer of figure skating.

Maria Sotskova

Maria Sotskova, like Zhenya Medvedeva, is 16 years old, she was born in 2000 in Reutov near Moscow and first started skating at the age of four at the most ordinary courtyard skating rink. Seeing that her daughter was reaching for skates, her mother took Masha to a sports school, however, that trip turned out to be a real test for Sotskova: for the first time, being left alone with a stern coach, Masha burst into tears! At first, Masha, according to her, did not like the boring routine exercises, but when she started jumping, it became interesting. And the little figure skater was completely captivated by the sports competitions. Over time, this passion began to capture Sotskova more and more, and already in 2009, the girl began to show outstanding results.

In 2012, Maria Sotskova won bronze at the junior championship, in 2013 two silvers and the Grand Prix in Japan. This was followed by silver in Tallinn and gold in Zagreb. In 2015, she won brilliant victories at the junior championships in Latvia and Austria. Finally, today Maria Sotskova is considered a world-class athlete. Sotskova is coached by Svetlana Panova - her students are afraid of her for her stern disposition, but she is strict during training and at competitions Panova worries about the skaters as if they were her own children.

By the way, Masha’s most devoted fan was her mother, who at first had a rather cool attitude towards figure skating, now she travels everywhere with her daughter, is present at every important competition and even selects Masha’s costumes on her own.

Elizaveta Tuktamysheva

Lisa entered the world of figure skating at the age of five. Svetlana Veretennikova became the girl’s coach, and then a close friend. Very soon Lisa began to make progress and became the best in the group. Then both the coach and the parents of the young athlete realized that her future should be connected with professional sports. For the sake of their daughter’s career, the Tuktamyshev family moved from small Glazov to St. Petersburg, where Lisa was taken under the protection of the great coach, mentor of such a professional as Evgeni Plushenko, Alexey Mishin - he even helped the figure skater’s family financially.

She mastered a set of triple jumps at the age of twelve and performed them simply brilliantly. Since 2009, silver and bronze medals have followed one after another. Due to existing age restrictions, Lisa could only be admitted to international competitions from 2010. His debut and immediately victorious appearance on the ice was his performance at the Grand Prix stage. In the final, only Sotnikova from her own team beat Elizaveta. In 2012, when young Lisa turned fifteen, the First Youth Olympic Games ended with a landslide victory for her. Mishin is confident that his ward will be able to achieve great heights; moreover, there is not a single figure skater in the world that Tuktamysheva could not defeat.

Yulia Lipnitskaya

Olympic champion Sochi 2014 in the team tournament. Silver medalist of the 2014 World Championship, European champion 2014, world junior champion 2012 and vice-champion 2013. Silver medalist of the Russian Championship 2012 and 2014. Silver medalist of the Grand Prix Final of the 2013/2014 season.

They really counted on Yulia at the Sochi Olympics - of course, Lipnitskaya, who was only 15 years old at that time, captivated the stands with her childish, but very serious face and incredible professionalism. But the most important gold was then taken by Adelina Sotnikova, and Yulia remained on the sidelines. They generally forgot about her very quickly and unfairly - Julia lost one competition after another, her fans stopped counting on her. To return to her previous results, Lipnitskaya even changed her coach - for a long time the skater collaborated with Eteri Tutberidze, but after high-profile failures, the coach and her ward broke up. Julia was restrained in her comments - she thanked her mentor for the years spent together, but emphasized the need to “move on.” Tutberidze followed her student’s advice and went her own way, leading her other ward, Medvedeva, to gold at the European Championships, and then the World Championships. The vacancy was filled by the 1994 Olympic champion in men's single skating, Alexey Urmanov. Alas, such a reshuffle did not bring big changes to Yulia’s sports life.

The skater herself says that working with a new coach, she is in her comfort zone. But not in the winning zone.

Adeline Sotnikova

From the age of seven, training with Irina Goncharenko, Adeline knew - a good relationship with a coach is the key to success. After all, the time spent on useless bickering and sorting out relationships could well be devoted to productive training. Her start was the Russian Championship of the 2007\2008 season, where she became tenth among juniors. In the winter of 2012, Sotnikova took part in the first Youth Olympics in her life. The result was brilliant - a silver medal. From season to season, Sotnikova changed at the most better side. Having secured the support of perhaps the most influential woman in the world of figure skating, Tatyana Tarasova, Sotnikova quickly and successfully started among the adults.

At the time of the Olympics in Sochi, Adelina was only 17, but the figure skater’s plans were not at all childish. It's no joke - an Olympic gold medal, the first in the entire history of Russian women's singles skating, and even at such a young age! The whole world started talking about Sotnikova. True, in her personal life, thanks to the medal, no changes followed; Sotnikova is not yet planning to get married (despite periodic rumors in the press). Today, Adeline still trains actively, devoting all her time to figure skating. Sotnikova’s main fan, like many other girls, is her mother. Alas, Adeline does not get to see her family as often as she would like, but thanks to figure skating and well-deserved victories, the athlete has the opportunity to help her seriously ill sister.

What is Zagitova like? Which Medvedeva? The best figure skaters in the world skate in Perm and may be left without the Olympics. Is this fair?
A revolution is coming.

Already next season, Alexandra Trusova, Anna Shcherbakova and Alena Kostornaya will move to senior competitions and change women's figure skating forever. In the meantime, Eteri Tutberidze’s students are completing their last junior competitions and collecting almost all possible awards. At the last Russian junior championship in Perm in their careers, Sasha, Alena and Anya, again, as at the adult national championship in Saransk, did not allow their rivals to even dream of medals. At the same time, there was again a castling in the position of the athletes on the podium - the three major starts of the season were won by three different skaters.
14-year-old Alexandra Trusova revealed a far from childish character and, after failing in the short program, independently pulled herself to the top. With two clean quads!
Trusova failed her short program
Russian champion among adults Anna Shcherbakova and winner of the junior Grand Prix Alena Kostornaya equally great skated short programs with identical content. Thanks to a slight advantage in components and a higher score for the triple lutz triple toe loop cascade, Kostornaya became the leader after the first day, receiving 79.97 points. However, Shcherbakova could easily eliminate the difference of 2.8 points due to quadruple jumps in the free program.

Alexandra Trusova, who defended her Russian junior champion title in Perm, failed in the short program. Sasha did not hit the music when entering the cascade, did not complete her triple Lutz and fell from the triple loop. Without the most expensive element, Trusova did not score even 70 points, leaving behind not only her group rivals, but also four more girls. Among the opponents of the Tutberidze trio, Anastasia Tarakanova took advantage of her chance best. Evgenia Plushenko's student completed the intermediate top three and could compete for the award with an impeccable performance in her free skate.
Unofficial world record
With the introduction of a ban on performing quadruple jumps in the short program, the hackneyed phrase that you cannot win in the short program, but you can lose, has practically lost its relevance. Even a 10-point gap now doesn’t seem huge and can be won back without the help of rivals, and the Perm Russian Championship provided further proof of this.
Figure skating.Russian Championship. Permian. Girls

1. Alexandra Trusova - 233.99.
2. Alena Kostornaya - 230,79.
3. Anna Shcherbakova - 223,97.
The first of the Tutberidze miracle girls to show a free program was Trusova, who did not make it into the last warm-up. In short, it seemed that Sasha began to experience the notorious changes in his body. It was all the more interesting to see how the figure skater performs quadruple jumps in a slightly changed body. Alexandra answered this question immediately. At the very beginning of the program, she perfectly jumped a cascade of quadruple and triple toe loops, and then immediately consolidated her success with a clean quadruple toe loop. The referees had no complaints about the triple lutz triple loop cascade. The phenomenal girl skated her free skate without a single blemish and proved that she has everything in order with her character. in perfect order. Unreal 92.68 points for technique and 164.44 for free in general. Almost eight points higher than Alina Zagitova’s world record. But Sasha will be able to officially beat the achievements of his senior groupmate only next season.

Major tournaments without the best
Kostornaya and Shcherbakova tried to answer Trusova’s challenge, but were left behind. Alena skated amazingly, made no technical mistakes and, as always, put on a real performance on the ice. The real women's skating of a 15-year-old girl is reflected in the components, but in terms of technique there is still a gap between her and Trusova - almost 17 points. Kostornaya understands her weak spot and is actively working on her triple axel. With her, she will have much more chances to fight with quadruple masters. Unlike Kostornaya, a clean free skate would have allowed Anna Shcherbakova to win gold, but the Russian champion immediately pulled off a quadruple lutz and removed all questions about the winner. Students of Eteri Tutberidze continue to dominate among juniors. They jump fantastically difficult quadruple jumps, break world records and are head and shoulders above all adults. But they have to win at children's tournaments in Perm. The opportunity to shine at the World Championships and Olympics will come too late for most of them. But great performances and killer scores will remain in the junior past.

From Vodorezova to Lipnitskaya: 7 best single figure skaters of the USSR and Russia

Editor's response

Until 1978, not a single Soviet figure skater managed to be on the podium at any time. Olympic Games, nor at the European and World Championships. AiF.ru remembers who began the heyday of Soviet and Russian women's singles skating, and talks about the athletes who proved that Russia has no equal in women's singles skating.

Elena Vodorezova

The first Soviet single figure skater who managed to climb onto the podium in international competitions, winning medals at the European and World Championships, was Elena Vodorezova.

Elena was born on May 21, 1963 in Moscow. She started figure skating at the age of 4, and from the age of 6 she trained at the CSKA school.

Under the guidance of a famous coach Stanislav Zhuk in 1976, at the age of 12, Vodorezova became number one of the USSR national team in women's singles skating. While still a teenager, the figure skater was the first in the world to perform two unique record item:

We remembered the most luxurious Russian figure skaters who attract attention not only on the ice, but also in everyday life.

Russia was forced to send its youngest team to the Olympics in South Korea, which was left without its leaders. Due to the doping scandal, famous athletes who won prizes at the 2014 Olympics in Sochi were left without an invitation to the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang. Among them: short track speed skater Viktor An, biathlete Anton Shipulin and skier Sergei Ustyugov.

However, despite this, the Russian athletes who arrived at the Olympics in South Korea as a young team were able to prove that our athletes can compete for the podium. Our team has eleven medals: three of them are silver and another eight are bronze medals.

The Russian team lacks gold, which our figure skaters 18-year-old Evgenia Medvedeva and 15-year-old Alina Zagitova can win. Both train in the team of former mentor of Sochi 2014 Olympic champion Yulia Lipnitskaya Eteri Tutberidze.

On the eve of the performance of the main favorites of the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, Evgenia Medvedeva and Alina Zagitova, the site prepared a rating of the most attractive figure skaters.

Evgenia Medvedeva (18 years old)

(Photo: Globallookpress.com)

Russian figure skater Evgenia Medvedeva performs in women's singles skating. The athlete became one of the main favorites of the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang. Being a two-time European champion in 2016 and 2017, a silver medalist at the 2018 European Championships, our figure skater is competing for an Olympic gold medal in South Korea.

Western fans have repeatedly noted the charm and beauty of the young athlete, who, due to an ankle injury, was unable to compete in the Grand Prix final in Nagoya and lost the gold medal to her main rival, Russian Alina Zagitova.

At the 2018 Olympic Games in South Korea, Evgenia Medvedeva became a silver medalist, gaining the maximum amount of points in team competition.

Alina Zagitova (15 years old)

(Photo: Globallookpress.com)

Despite her young age, Russian figure skater Alina Zagitova can give odds to the most titled athletes who have repeatedly fought for a place on the podium. 15-year-old Alina Zagitova won the gold medal with a total of 220 points for her short and free program at the Grand Prix final in Nagoya.

The figure skater became the European champion in 2018 and joined the main roster of the Olympic team. Like Evgenia Medvedeva, the young athlete won silver in the team competition. However, the Russian’s performance caused a mixed reaction among many fans. Thus, American figure skater Ashley Wagner noted that she could not enjoy our athlete’s skate, adding that Alina Zagitova’s existing interpretation of the rules was in her own interests. The American assured that the skater not only “took her time at the beginning of the performance,” but also left all “jumps for the second part of the program.”

By the way, Ashley Wagner herself did not make it to her country’s national team at the Pyeongchang Olympics. Olympic champion Alexei Yagudin supported the Russian figure skater, noting that Ashley is sitting at home in America, while Alina Zagitova is competing for the gold medal at the 2018 Olympic Games in South Korea.

Ekaterina Bobrova (27 years old)

(Photo: Globallookpress.com)

The Russian figure skater, performing in ice dancing together with Dmitry Solovyov, became the silver medalist of the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang in the team competition.

Alexander Zhulin's team failed to win bronze medals in ice dancing. Having performed a short and free program, they took fifth place. Speaking about the performance of our figure skaters Ekaterina Bobrova and Dmitry Solovyov, the renowned coach who trained a whole generation of Olympic champions, Tatyana Tarasova, noted that the athletes had a chance to compete for medals. In her opinion, the skaters’ short program was inferior to the free program, and the pair’s coach should have changed the performance by adding complex lifts that would have brought extra points to Ekaterina Bobrova and Dmitry Solovyov.

However, the athletes themselves were satisfied with their performance, noting that they gave their all at the competition.

Adelina Sotnikova (21 years old)

(Photo: Globallookpress.com)

The Russian figure skater became the first ever Olympic champion in women's singles skating, winning a gold medal at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi.

Adelina Sotnikova was called a “prodigy” in figure skating; she managed to do what all single skaters dreamed of - getting Olympic gold. However, due to a leg injury, the athlete had to miss the Russian Championships and the European Championships in 2015. In the same year, Adelina Sotnikova took part in the “Dancing with the Stars” program on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, paired with dancer Gleb Savchenko. In 2016, the figure skater became a participant in the Ice Age show on Channel One, paired with Alexander Sokolovsky. A year later, it became known that Adelina Sotnikova left her coach Elena Buyanova. The mentor of the Olympic champion was Evgeni Plushenko.

Yulia Lipnitskaya (19 years old)

(Photo: Globallookpress.com)

The youngest representative of the Russian team at the 2014 Olympic Games, Yulia Lipnitskaya, who at that time was no more than 15 years old, won a gold medal in the team tournament, becoming the Olympic champion.

By the way, Yulia Lipnitskaya trained with Eteri Tutberidze, whose team included the main favorites of the Olympics in South Korea, Evgenia Medvedeva and Alina Zagitova. However, in mid-November 2015, the skater changed her coach and came under the wing of Alexei Urmanov. In 2016, Yulia Lipnitskaya became the silver medalist of the Russian Cup in Saransk. After a year, which was not crowned with success for the figure skater due to injuries and a long recovery process, the mother of the Olympic champion announced that Yulia Lipnitskaya had completed her sports career. According to rumors, the skater was undergoing rehabilitation in one of the clinics, where she is being treated for anorexia. The renowned coach Tatyana Tarasova and the figure skater’s former mentor Eteri Tutberidze noted that the athlete could have ended her career much earlier.

Tatyana Navka (42 years old)

(Photo: Globallookpress.com)

Three-time European champion, Olympic champion in tanks on ice with Roman Kostomarov is rightfully considered one of the sexiest figure skaters of our time. After completing her sports career, Tatyana Navka took part in several seasons of the show “Ice Age”.
At the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin, Tatyana Navka and Roman Kostomarov became the favorites of the competition, winning a gold medal in ice dancing. The figure skater has an eldest daughter, Sasha, whom she gave birth to in her marriage to Alexander Zhulin. Let us note that gossip column reporters attributed to Tatyana Navka an affair with her partners in the show “Ice Age,” actor Marat Basharov and singer Alexei Vorobyov. In 2014, the athlete became a mother for the second time. Tatyana Navka gave birth to a daughter from the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov. The girl was named Nadezhda. Soon it became known about the wedding of Olympic champion Tatyana Navka and Dmitry Peskov, which took place in 2015 in Sochi.

Tatyana Totmyanina (36 years old)

(Photo: Globallookpress.com)

Five-time European champion (2002-2006) in pair skating with Maxim Marinin won gold at the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin.

After her triumph at international competitions, Tatyana Totmyanina announced the end of her amateur sports career. In 2009, the figure skater gave birth to a daughter from Olympic champion Alexei Yagudin, the baby was named Elizaveta. Six years later, the couple had a daughter, Michelle. In 2016, Tatyana Totmyanina married Alexei Yagudin.
