  • Budget: 1 million rubles

Designer Anna Kovalchenko was faced with the task of turning a typical one-room apartment into a comfortable space for renting through the Airbnb portal. The customer wanted the interior to be decorated in a Scandinavian style, spacious and bright.

Since the budget and time frame for the renovation were limited, redevelopment was not planned: they decided to make the only room functional using zoning. In the back of the room there was a sleeping area, closer to the window - a living room with a small sofa, TV and coffee table.

The design relied on a neutral black and white palette. Almost all the walls were covered with white Dulux paint. Only in the hall and bedroom area were contrasting Swedish wallpapers used.

Laminate was laid on the floor - an inexpensive and practical option, which also adds warmth to the monochrome interior. The same task is met by a laminated wood-look countertop in the kitchen and natural wood shelves in the bathroom. The latter were made to order.

“We had to choose suspended ceilings, since in some places the difference in unevenness was up to 5 cm,” says Anna Kovalchenko.

Kerama Marazzi tiles were used to decorate the bathrooms. They put a black and white one on the floor - it perfectly matches the ornament with the wallpaper in the hallway. White tiles on the walls expand the space and make a tiny bathroom visually larger.

A long narrow balcony was also equipped, turning it into a full-fledged recreation area. “We installed heated electric flooring and finished it ceramic tiles, the walls were insulated with Penoplex and sheathed PVC panels, put a small table and chairs - now it’s comfortable to be here even in winter,” says the designer.

As for the storage system, the customer asked not to clutter the already small apartment with cabinets: after all, the tenants will stay in this apartment for a short period of time. So, they appeared in the room floor hanger and a chest of drawers, in the hallway there are hooks on the wall and a shelf for shoes.

But what if storage systems are needed? “For example, in a niche you can put a large, spacious closet or even make a dressing room (if desired, with an entrance from the corridor), says the designer. “Also, transformable furniture will always come to the rescue: for small apartments, a sofa bed or a podium with built-in storage drawers are relevant.”

The furniture for this interior was chosen to be practical: it was necessary to fit into the given concept of minimalism and a small budget. Almost all furnishings were found at IKEA and Hoff. The bedroom-living room has a double bed and a folding sofa. In the kitchen there was a place for a corner set and dining table. They matched the black IKEA cabinets with black household appliances: washing machine and a small refrigerator.
