We install an aerator - an air valve for the sewerage system. What is an air valve for sewerage Aerator in sewerage horizontal riser diagram

An unpleasant odor emanating from the sewer is a fairly common occurrence in our houses and apartments. Therefore it is important to know that there is easy way improve its performance without resorting to major renovation.

A vacuum valve for sewerage (or as it is also called an air valve, aerator, ventilation duct, vent valve) allows you to improve the system, and in some cases even abandon the construction of a vent ventilation riser.

In our material we will talk about the design and purpose of the aerator, as well as how to independently install it in the sewer system.

Irregularities in the sewer system can be identified by characteristic signs.

These are:

  • presence of extraneous sounds;
  • spread of unpleasant odors.

In houses with a long-established sewer network, it is necessary to first check all elements of the network for damage. Deviations in work new system may indicate incorrect installation.

If during the inspection it was possible to exclude causes of possible damage such as cracks in pipelines, or ventilation ducts, incorrect pipe slope, then the cause of the problems is most likely insufficient air flow. In this case, installing a vacuum valve will help troubleshoot the system.

There can be several reasons for improper operation of the sewer system: blockage in the pipes, violations of installation rules, blocking of the ventilation (fan riser) by residents on the upper floors. Sometimes the source of trouble can only be identified by a specialist

Operating principle and purpose of a vacuum valve

During hours of maximum drainage and during drainage large quantity water in the sewer system, an air vacuum can be created and water is sucked out, and odors, harmful gases and vapors enter the room.

A vacuum valve is installed to compensate for pressure in the sewerage system. It prevents water from being sucked out and odor from entering from siphons.

This happens as follows. The vacuum valve starts to operate when the pressure drops in sewer network. When a large volume of waste liquid is drained (for example, when using a toilet or several plumbing fixtures), the pressure in the system dilutes and the valve membrane automatically opens, allowing air inside the pipeline until the pressure equalizes.

At the beginning of the work, the installation location of the valve is determined, taking into account the installation rules and its accessibility for further maintenance.

  1. The water supply in the house is turned off.
  2. If installation is carried out earlier installed pipeline, then make an insertion and install a special adapter.

Most aerator models have a bell-type connection.

The assembly of such connections is carried out in the following sequence:

  1. The outer surface of the smooth part and the surface inside the socket are cleaned of dust.
  2. Wipe the sealing ring from possible contamination and place it in the bell groove.
  3. The surfaces that come into contact during connection are lubricated to reduce friction. To do this, use a sealant made on a silicone basis or soap solution, glycerin.
  4. Place the smooth end of the valve into the socket up to the mark. The quality of the connection is checked by rotating the parts relative to each other, followed by returning to their original position.

If necessary, the area with the connected vacuum valve is secured with a clamp. Upon completion of work, it is necessary to check the joints for leaks.

Vacuum valve for sewerage: application, device, installation

In this article I want to tell the reader about a relatively rare element of plumbing equipment. We will find out in what cases it can be used vacuum valve for sewerage, where and how it is installed. In addition, we have to study the design of the valve and understand the principle of its operation.

Ventilation of the sewer riser

However, I will have to start with a small lyrical digression. To understand why a sewer vacuum valve is needed, you need to have a good understanding of the processes occurring inside the sewer riser.

Full-time job

  • All risers are brought out by the builders beyond the flat or pitched roof . As with any other vertical pipe, a constant draft occurs in the riser. Fetid fumes Wastewater extend outside the house and disperse into the atmosphere;

Thrust increases in windy weather (Bernoulli's law: static pressure in a moving stream is inversely proportional to its speed) and when draining into a sewer warm water(heated air rushes upward).

  • During a volley discharge of water (draining a toilet tank), a flow rushes down the riser, completely or partially blocking its entire cross-section. The flow displaces the air filling the riser into sewer well through the outlet or into the basement through one of the open tees.
    A vacuum is formed in the upper part of the riser, which is compensated by the suction of air through a pipe - a ventilation outlet on the roof.

Below the water front is a region of high pressure, above is a region of rarefaction.

Role of Vacuum Valve

Now let's do a little thought experiment - we'll turn off the fan outlet of the riser. What happens when the toilet flushes?

  1. A vacuum will arise in the upper part of the riser;
  2. To compensate for it, air will begin to be sucked in through plumbing fixtures with minimum height water seals - washbasins and sinks;
  3. In this case, the water seals will be torn off - part of the water from the siphons will flow into the riser;
  4. The unavoidable draft that arises in the vertical pipe will begin to transport air, along with the accompanying moist fumes and odors, to the bathrooms and kitchens of the apartments on the upper floors.

Now let’s install a vacuum sewer valve instead of a drain pipe - a simple device that allows air to flow in one direction and blocks its movement in the opposite direction.

The picture will change radically:

  • When draining, air will be sucked into the riser from the atmosphere of the attic or the apartment above the riser through the air intake grille of the valve;
  • The water seals will remain in place and continue to perform their functions.

Device

The operating principle of a vacuum sewer valve is extremely simple.

  • If there is excess pressure in the riser, the valve is pressed tightly to the seat and does not allow air to pass through, preventing the attic or apartment from being saturated with waste aromas;

At zero pressure difference it is also closed. The bolt is held in the seat by its own weight.

  • As soon as a vacuum develops under the valve, the valve will be raised by the pressure difference and open the way for air into the riser.

Disassembled valve. Below in the photo is his shutter.

The valve design imposes a couple of restrictions on its use:

  1. It can only be installed in heated rooms. A drop in temperature below zero will cause vapors to freeze on the valve seat and on the valve itself. The consequences are not difficult to predict;
  2. The valve requires periodic cleaning. Dust settling on the seat will deteriorate its seal over time. If there is a noticeable smell of sewage in the bathroom, the first thing to do is open the valve and wash the seat and the valve itself.

Samples

Let's explore a few devices from different manufacturers and let’s try to understand whether any objective characteristics justify the colossal price range between them.

The Polish analogue of the Russian valve is the Capricorn 110 mm aerator.

As is easy to see, manufacturers do not provide a single characteristic that would explain the five- or even ten-fold difference in prices.

If you carefully study the description on the manufacturers’ websites, you will notice that the valve from Ostendorf is made of polypropylene, while the material of the Russian and Polish valves is polyvinyl chloride. However, the features of polypropylene are greater rigidity and more heat melting - in our case they do not provide any advantages.

If the reader is interested in a subjective assessment, I personally did not notice any difference between domestic and imported devices in terms of quality. Minor complaints about the surface of the plastic (burrs that can be easily removed with a knife) can be ignored.

When purchasing, you can not pay attention to the brand and country of manufacture. Cheap valves are in no way inferior to expensive ones.

Installation

Where and how to properly install a vacuum valve on the sewer?

Let me break this question into two parts.

Where

The device can be mounted anywhere on the top sewer system as close to the riser as possible. It is desirable that the distance from the riser to the vacuum valve be less than the distance from the riser to any device with a water seal.

This requirement is not always necessary. The valve shutter operating threshold is normally much lower than the water shutter threshold.

In addition, the valve can be installed on a long horizontal sewer branch near the outermost plumbing fixture.

Most often, a vacuum sewer valve is installed directly on the riser, in the socket of the upper outlet of the tee or cross behind the toilet.

How

The only requirement is to ensure complete tightness of the connection between the valve and the socket and all other connections of the comb (internal sewage system of the apartment) with plumbing fixtures. Let me make this recommendation a little more specific:

  • The valve is inserted into the socket of a plastic pipe (PVC, polypropylene) without additional equipment. Tightness is ensured by the standard o-ring seal of the socket. In order to simplify installation, it can be lubricated with liquid soap;
  • For cast iron pipe will have to purchase rubber cuff— adapter. When using it, the installation instructions are a little more complicated:

  • Connections of plumbing fittings (elbows and corrugated siphons of washbasins, sinks and bathtubs) are made with mandatory sealing with rubber cuffs.

Valve or drain pipe

Now let's decide whether a vacuum valve can completely replace a drain pipe. We will also break this question into two:

  1. Is it possible to equip the sewerage system in a private house with a valve instead?
  2. Is it possible to dismantle the sewer riser on the top floor with your own hands? apartment building above the cross or tee and install a fan valve instead?

A private house

Installing a valve instead of ventilation is possible, but not advisable. Why?

  • There is no escape from the draft created in the risers. The slightest violation of the tightness of the sewer - and the smells of sewage will begin to saturate the kitchen and bathroom. When ventilation is running, any gap between the plumbing fittings and the pipe socket will, on the contrary, draw air out of the corresponding rooms;

  • When connected to a central sewer, the drain pipe facilitates ventilation of the manhole through the outlet. In particular, the methane content drops under the lid. The argument is not far-fetched: every year several people die from suffocation in a well;
  • If you use a septic tank, its ventilation through the drain pipe will help stimulate vital activity aerobic bacteria and, therefore, better processing of wastewater with a reduction in solid sediment and odors.

Apartment house

I strongly do not recommend disassembling the riser outlet onto the roof. Even with replacing the drain pipe with a vacuum valve. You see, the benefit from such a solution will only be the opportunity to make the cabinet above the toilet a little more spacious; but the righteous anger of the neighbors below, the housing organization and representatives of the municipality will fall on your head.

Replacing the vent riser with a valve is a bad idea.

The mechanism in brief is:

  1. After dismantling the drain pipe and installing the valve, the ventilation of the riser will stop, but the draft in it will not go away. Meanwhile, the connections between washbasins and combs in most apartments are leaky. The sudden appearance of amber will arouse the interest of residents on the floors below you and a bunch of complaints to the housing office or management company;
  2. When a mechanic comes to a call, the first thing he does is inspect the outlet of the vent pipe to the roof. After making sure that it is missing or cut off at the attic level, he will pay a visit to the top floor - to you;
  3. Based on the results of the inspection of the riser, an act will be drawn up on the unauthorized reconstruction of utilities, affecting the interests of other residents;
  4. The consequence will be an order to restore the original configuration of the riser with the possible imposition of an administrative penalty.

The sewer aerator 110 relieves residents of the unpleasant smell and sounds when flushing the toilet. Install the device on horizontal sections of the sewer system and auxiliary risers. Here is information about the devices and how to properly install the air valve.

The indoor sewer aerator primarily works as check valve, preventing liquid and gases from reaching the drain point. When using the toilet, a sudden flush of water lowers the pressure in the system, and without the valve, the liquid may return at a higher speed than it was drained. When the pressure drops in the sewer pipe, sewer valve 110 opens and equalizes the indicator.

The principle diagram of the operation of air valves is shown in the figure. All devices include:

  • frame;
  • air intake;
  • pressure regulation mechanism.

The housing is sealed, with a removable lid. The connection must be threaded. There is a rubber seal between the parts.

The inlet should allow air to pass through, but not insects and rodents. The damper opening mechanism is rod or membrane. The membrane clogs less often.

An aerator for a septic tank is used to supply air to bacteria that decompose sewage. You can make it yourself, remove the pipe from the septic tank like a riser, and plug it at the top. Weld the entrance to the side forced injection air.

Types of air valves

The sewerage layout is multi-level and has vertical and horizontal sections. The diameter of the pipes, maintained slopes and flow rate determine which aerators for sewerage are most effective. There is a system of aerators, each of which has a specification:

  • the receiving aerator is mounted in front of the pumping pump on a horizontal section of the pipeline;
  • ball model of an aerator for plumbing fixtures with small pipe diameters;
  • ball valve with pressure spring;
  • The wafer model is installed on pipes with a diameter of up to 20 cm, can pass flow or rotate by 90 0.

Wafer models can be disk spring or double-leaf. The actuator is a plate with a spring.

Check air valve with actuator petal or rotary type. This type of aerator is installed on pipes with a diameter of less than 400 mm. For long sections where there is a risk of water hammer when the spool ruptures, damper valves are installed.

The valves are fastened by welding, clamped between two flanges with gaskets, or a threaded coupling is used.

Reasons for installing air valves

The sewer system is dynamic. Costs are constantly changing, gases appear from the decomposition of sewage. Drainage through sanitary fixtures changes hydraulic mode in the pipes. Without regulatory tools, life with poorly functioning sewage systems becomes uncomfortable. Sewer aerator 110:

  • automatically regulates pressure;
  • non-volatile;
  • protects the fan pipe from freezing in winter;
  • simple installation;
  • low cost.

The device equalizes the pressure between the main line and the atmosphere on the roof where it is installed. However, such a device can work effectively at a height not higher than the second floor. If a large flow is drained simultaneously from two points on one riser, the valve may not cope.

Sewer aerator 50 is installed on the internal sewerage from drainage devices. Typically, such a device is equipped at the transition points from the 32 cm line connecting to the 50 cm manifold. An air valve is installed on the horizontal section, cutting off the bad smell from the common pipe, equalizing the pressure in the system.

Correct installation of aerators

The air valve on the riser is installed in the attic, since if it is frozen, it will not work. But the smell should not be felt in the room. If the house has several auxiliary risers and the main one is on the roof, then a sewer aerator 110 can be installed on the others. This will significantly reduce costs. The device can also be used when a riser is not provided or it cannot be brought to the roof, ensuring the requirements of SNiP for the distance to structural elements. When choosing a device, it is necessary to take into account that sometimes manual adjustment may be required. The aerator is installed above the top drain point in the system, and it must be accessible for inspection and repair.

The aerator only works when correct assembly! The pipe and socket cannot be swapped,

Sewer aerator 50 can serve no more than two plumbing fixtures. Install the device no closer than a meter from the drain point. The aerator in the internal sewer must be at the end of the network distribution, after the outermost device. Minimum distance It should be 35 cm from the floor during installation. The device is mounted vertically.

A properly installed aerator will last a long time, but periodic checking of the valve condition is mandatory.

Why do you need a sewer vacuum valve - video

For the normal operation of the sewer system (no matter in a high-rise building or in a private house), its ventilation is necessary. However, it cannot always be arranged in the right way - which causes certain problems.

The most unpleasant thing is the appearance of a smell inside the room. You can correct the situation (or prevent its occurrence) by installing an air valve on sewer pipe.

Briefly about the operation of the sewer system

the valve itself - it is necessary to understand how the sewer system itself should work correctly. We will briefly describe the principle of its operation.

IN All wastewater pipes (from the sink, bathtub, shower, toilet, washing machine and dishwasher) are connected to a sewer riser (the liquid enters by gravity). This is a vertically located pipe that runs through the entire house. At the bottom, the riser enters the central sewer, through which wastewater flows into a treatment plant or cesspool.

IN the upper part of the pipe - exits through the roof, ending above the roof level(or goes to attic space) . It is not closed with plugs on top, but remains open. The purpose of this hole isequalize atmospheric pressure with the pressure inside the pipe. This design is called (you can read about it separately). It is relevant for any buildings with a height of 2 floors or more.

In some casesinstallation of a drain pipe is impossible or unnecessary. For example, eIf there are windows or balconies close to the outlet (at a distance of less than 4 meters), the smell of sewage will be heard in these rooms.

Why do you need an air valve for a sewer riser?

Now let’s figure out why we need an aerator in the sewer system.

The operation of the system described above may be disrupted for the following reasons:

    if an error was made during calculations or installation(rules and standards are standardized in accordance with SP 30.13330.2012, “ Internal pipeline and sewerage");

    if the riser itself is damaged;

    if the pipe at the top is clogged with foreign objects (leaves may get there, construction garbage, insects or even birds);

    if the exit of the fan riser from above is frozen, and air passes through it poorly, or does not pass at all;

  • if there is no drain pipe.

Ventilated and non-ventilated (with valve) riser

When draining water, a vacuum is created inside the sewer:the liquid sucks in air. Moreover, its quantity can be quite large: for example, water from washing machine(supplied under pump pressure) requires 25 l/s of air per 1 l/s of liquid.

If there is not enough air, the flow going through the pipe suckswater from the “weakest” water seal (almost always a sink).

As a result, noise is heard in the room, and in addition, the smell penetrates freely(since the water from the water seal went into the pipe). This is not only unpleasant, but also harmful: sewer gas is toxic, and in high concentrations it is explosive (due to the methane it contains). Of course, an explosion due to methane entering the room is unlikely - there is too much gases must be present in the air.

If for a long time ignorean unpleasant odor, in addition to the health hazard (due to the presence of hydrogen sulfide in the gas), can also damage the room itself. The vapor also contains bacteria that contribute to the appearance. If in the bathroom also high humidity - this will very quickly lead to its development.

R The solution to the problems described above is to install an air valve on the sewer pipe. This solution was invented in the Scandinavian countries: due to snowfalls and cold weather sewer risers those overlooking the roof were frozen.

Why do you need an air valve: it allows air to flow inside the pipeline fresh air, quickly normalizing pressure (equalizing internal and atmospheric). It can be used instead of a pipe going out onto the roof (that is, on an unventilated riser), and together with her, in addition .

Design and principle of operation of the fan valve

Now let's look at how the air ventilation valve for sewage works and how it works.

The fan valve has the following device:

    A housing with a hole on the side (through which air enters). Issued from polymer material(polypropylene or PVC).

    Removable cover. Necessary for disassembling the aeration valve (for cleaning or repair).

    Rod or membrane. Made from rubber.

    Rubber sealing gasket. Limits the stroke of the rod, seals the structure.

The vacuum ventilation valve for the riser works as follows:

    when the pressure inside the pipe is the same as atmospheric (or slightly exceeds it) - the valve is closed;

    when water (from the toilet, washing machine, tap) enters the drain, a vacuum occurs inside the pipe, displaces the rod (membrane), and opens the valve;

    the air entering through the valve equalizes the pressure, after which the rod (diaphragm) returns to the seat (the valve closes).

About the purpose and operating principle of the valve (video)

Pros and cons of use

AND The advantages of using a sewer aerator:

    the ability to prevent the appearance of unpleasant odors indoors (if normal operation ventilation of the riser will be impaired);

    Possibility to do without laying a drain pipe(which means don’t make an extra hole in the roof).

It should be noted that it is possible to use a valve on an unventilated riser, but this will only be effective in low-rise buildings.For multi-storey buildings ventilation valves are considered additional component to the pipe leading to the roof.

In principle, they can also be used separately,But only as a last resort. ANDin this case, an accurate calculation of both the number of devices and their bandwidth(which should be done at the design stage of the building itself).

One of the obvious disadvantages of the sewer aerator is the possibility of it jamming. The movement of the rod (membrane) can worsen both from time (natural wear of parts) and from the ingress of some debris. The second option is unlikely, since foreign objects can only get inside when opening the lid.

About technical characteristics (diameter) and manufacturers

ABOUT main technical characteristics sewer aerator are:

    Diameter. Based on this parameter, a model is selected for the pipe diameter.

    Throughput (how much air will pass per unit of time).

The diameter of the product can be 50, 75 or 110 mm. Models with a diameter of 50 and 75 mm - suitable for installation for individual devices. Products with a diameter of 110 mm are intended for installation on the riser itself.

Some valves are designed in such a way that they are suitable for several diameters at once (they have a stepped pipe). For example, the model HL900N can be used for pipes with a diameter of 50, 75 or 110 mm.For installation on pipes of other diameters (32, 40 mm), adapters can be used.

As for throughput: it was already mentioned above that 1 l/s of water can consume 25 l/s of air. Valve capacity - from 7-8 l/s (for HL903 and Minivent) and up to 32-37 l/s (for HL900N).

On Russian market Products from about a dozen manufacturers are represented. Here are a few specific brands:

  1. HL ( Austrian company, its products are the most expensive).
  2. McAlpine English company, mid-price segment).
  3. Wavin ( Polish manufacturer, mid-price and expensive segment).
  4. Europlast (Ukrainian brand, cheap segment).

Where is the fan aerator installed?

The ventilation valve can be installed in two ways (according to location):

    For the boner. In this case, it is located on its upper part, which can either be led out into the attic or located directly in the room (bathroom).

    For a separate appliance (for example, a washing machine).

Rules for installing an air valve for sewerage

There are a number of rules that must be followed during installation:

    If the sewer ventilation valve is mounted in the attic (on a riser), the temperature in the room must always be positive.

    If the ventilation valve is installed in a room with a floor grating, it must be at least 35 cm above the floor level.

    The valve must remain accessible for inspection and possible repairs. This is especially important if it is installed not in addition to, but instead of a fan pipe.

    The valve installed on the riser must be located at least 30 cm higher than the topmost pipe inlet from the plumbing fixture (i.e., there should be no other inlets from the valve for the next 30 cm down).

    There should be at least 20 cm from the valve to the nearest siphon.

Stages of work

If the sewer valve is installed in apartment building- neighbors must be notified. After this, the riser is disconnected from the water supply, and you can proceed directly to installing the aerator:

    The section of pipe on which the product will be installed is dismantled.

    The valve, using a sealing ring, is inserted into a tee or outlet. In this case, the arrow on the body of the product must point in the direction of the flow of water through the pipe.

    Tee or elbow - mounted on a pipe.

Alternatively, install aeration the valve can be installed directly into the pipe, without using a tee or bend.

Sewerage is a multifunctional and important communication system. But, like other benefits of civilization, such a system has negative aspects, in particular an unpleasant smell and noise. To minimize such problems, an air valve for sewage was invented.

This device was developed specifically to effectively combat difficult-to-tolerate odors. Similar element also called an aerator, it can be used to get rid of the noise produced by pipes. The purpose of the device is to create a barrier and protect the apartment from the return penetration of odors.

From our review you will find out how the air valve works, the details of its installation and what types of devices there are.

Why is this device needed?

A signal that a valve needs to be installed is the following symptoms: the appearance of unpleasant odors and/or the appearance of extraneous sounds. Any deviation from the norm is a clue about improper sewer design. The valve is needed to compensate for the pressure in the system.

It not only replaces the ventilation riser, but also allows you to solve the following problems:

  1. Helps out when you can’t install a fan riser.
  2. Reduces heat loss through ventilation.
  3. Improves the functionality of the entire sewer system.
  4. One of its tasks is to protect against the failure of the fan element.

Principle of operation

So, let's look at the operating principle of a sewer air valve:

  1. When draining water, the liquid passes into the sewer pipeline. The process is accompanied by a decrease in pressure.
  2. Due to the difference with atmospheric pressure, the air valve opens. Air enters through the holes on the side.
  3. The pressure normalizes after the required volume of air enters the pipeline. As a result, the device takes its original position, which in turn creates a tight system.

The whole process occurs very quickly, and as a result of the activation of the water seal unpleasant odors from the sewer do not enter the premises.

The air valve for sewerage consists of a body, which is made of high-rigidity polymers. Top part can be removed to allow inspection and cleaning.

The gasket made of rubberized material ensures a tight fit. An air hole is provided, resulting in an opening and closing mechanism. Such a device allows you to equalize the negative pressure in the structure. In normal condition, air flows through the fan pipe.

Note! This device protects the room not only from methane, but also from harmful microorganisms and fungal spores.

Determining the installation location

It is important to know! The air valve for sewerage is usually mounted 20-30 cm above the main pipe. During installation work, do not allow dust, dirt or liquid to penetrate the membrane. For optimal performance, a systematic supply of oxygen is necessary.

For installation in an apartment, the device is mounted on a pipeline in a vertical position. This method will not provide ventilation to the riser, but will eliminate odors in a specific area.

It is recommended to install a sewer air valve and in a private house. In this case, you don’t have to carry it out. But some experts argue that it should be mounted only as an auxiliary part to the riser.

In private houses and apartments, plastic sewers are installed. Air elements are also made from polypropylene or PVC.

The valve must be installed:

  1. IN high-rise buildings, which are connected to treatment plants.
  2. In waste disposal areas.
  3. When connecting the sewer to sanitary facilities.
  4. In systems that can be connected horizontally.

Do-it-yourself valve installation - in apartments; in a private house

You can install this element yourself or call a specialist. There are no differences in installation in a private house or apartment; the same installation principle is present everywhere. But when performing installation, you must comply following rules:

  1. The device must not be installed in rooms where heating is not provided.
  2. When using the device, it is important to ensure free access to it for inspection or preventive inspections.
  3. When installing the automatic version, it is important to find out the point of the highest flow into the riser.
  4. Fixation is made above 10 cm from this point. This is true if a drain has not been installed.
  5. If the ladder is equipped, the part is attached 35 cm above the level flooring.
  6. The valve should be placed in the socket in the area with the O-ring. The vertical direction will ensure good functionality of the sewer system.

Modern devices can be used in the bathroom or toilet. They are easily installed on the riser. Simple devices placed on a washbasin, bathtub or sink. For the fan pipe, it is recommended to choose a cylindrical design.

A 50mm diameter sewer air valve dilutes system air in areas horizontal type. It must be installed on long sections of the pipeline. When creating a slope, a natural outlet of the drainage system will occur.

Air valve for sewerage with a diameter of 110 mm, mainly used in fan pipes. Under certain conditions, mounting to an auxiliary riser is permissible. The mechanism must not be mounted at an angle.

The valve must be installed following the exact instructions. It is mounted in a flange, threaded or using a coupling. You should create airtight connections and joints, and then check this parameter after completion of work.

At the beginning of installation work, be sure to check whether the water supply taps are turned off. Then dismantled necessary element pipes and a valve is placed in this area. If the pipeline is placed horizontally, you need to check the direction of water flow with the parameters on the device. It is not recommended to rearrange the socket and inlet pipe, as the valve will not start.

The mechanism is installed into the socket of a plastic pipe without auxiliary parts, and the tightness is ensured by a special seal from the socket. When installing in a cast iron pipe, you will have to use an adapter. This option has a more complex installation.

During installation work, it is necessary to ensure a tight connection between the main device and the elements of the comb and socket.

If the structure has a socket type connection, installation work are executed like this:

  1. Surfaces are cleaned of dust.
  2. The seal ring is cleaned and degreased, then a trench is laid.
  3. Contacting parts are lubricated with sealants or glycerin, which reduces friction.
  4. The end of the valve is brought into the socket to a special mark.
  5. At this stage, it is important to check the quality of the fastening by turning it.
  6. Additionally, the area with the fixed valve is secured with a clamp.

After completion of the work, the joints should be inspected for leaks.

Prices and manufacturers

Models are selected taking into account certain criteria. This is a diameter, the value of which can be 50, 75 and 110. As well as throughput - the figure varies between 7-37 liters per second.

Products from the following countries are represented on the Russian market:

  1. The HL company from Austria offers the most expensive designs. The price varies between 2500-3600 depending on the models.

  1. McAlpine from the UK provides products in the mid-range price category 1200-1300 rubles.

  1. You can also purchase inexpensive air valves from domestic producers Sinicon and Politek. The cost of devices varies between 150-380 rubles.

Types of valves

Exist different types these devices. They differ in the features of their work. Let's look at them.

  1. Automatic - in demand for use in small private households. The device will not cope with significant loads.
  2. The kinetic valve functions correctly at low pressure. This device protects against air accumulation during drains.
  3. Combined option- This is a device that combines two types.

The pipeline can be installed in any direction. And for each case there is a separate option. When installing an air valve on a sewer, the diameter of the pipes must be selected correctly.

Watch the video

This factor influences the division:

  1. The receiving aerator has a diameter of 20 cm. The device is equipped with a filter that retains solid suspensions. This option is mounted on a horizontal highway.
  2. Ball devices are fixed to pipes with a small diameter. The device uses a ball part as a shutter.
  3. Inter-flange devices are characterized by compactness and low weight. Products are available as walk-through or corner. The shutter is represented by a special plate.

It is worth classifying products according to the method of fastening. The devices can be installed by welding. This option is not suitable for residential premises. For pipes with a small diameter, fasteners with couplings are suitable.

If the valve does not have a fastening element, it is clamped between the flanges. Fixation through flanges using a seal is also often used.

Features of operation

Installation nuances sewer device are regulated by special norms of SNiP. For the device to last long time, it is necessary to monitor its serviceability and regularly check the quality of operation.

  1. Problems can be caused by the rod or membrane sticking in one place.
  2. If the device is jammed in open form, sewer odors may enter the room.
