We make a children's high chair with our own hands according to drawings, dimensions and diagrams. How to make a wooden children's chair with your own hands (photo guide) Wooden children's chair: drawing

Furniture for a children's room should be of high quality, environmentally friendly, and hypoallergenic. But many manufacturers do not pay attention to the increased requirements for children's furniture - they use low-quality materials and make the fastenings unreliable. Using such furniture may harm your child. This is why some parents come to the conclusion that it is worth doing children's table and a DIY chair. Moreover, assembling it is not so difficult.

Materials

Of course, when choosing material for children's furniture, you should opt for natural solid wood. Wooden table and the chair will not only be a decoration in the children's room, but also environmentally friendly, will not cause allergies, and will become practical pieces of furniture.

It is better to make a table and chair from beech wood. It is easy to process and does not release resin. But how a budget option Pine or birch are quite suitable, but they need to be deresined, since the resin is unsafe for a child, and it can ruin clothes.

Plywood, like the most cheap material, is also quite acceptable when making a highchair. It can easily bear the weight of a child, is lightweight, and can be easily processed.

Chipboard is a very fragile material and can only be suitable for a tabletop.

Alternatively, you can build at a dacha in the zone playground table and chair from plastic bottles. At the same time, you practically do not need to invest money, and if exposed to weather conditions, such a kit will not suffer.

Preparation

Initially, you need to make detailed drawings with all dimensions. Please note that when planning furniture for a child, you should not make sharp corners that the child will touch while active games could get hurt.

If you're not entirely sure about stability, make a 1:1 scale model out of cardboard before making parts out of wood.

To fasten parts together, you can use spikes and glue, but for the reliability of the structure it is better to use self-tapping screws and corners of various shapes.

Material processing

Before assembly, all parts must be processed. To do this, you can use an electric planer, or sand the wood with sandpaper.

Then you can treat it with various dyes such as stain, rather than simply highlight the texture of the wood or paint it.

If you want to varnish your products, it is better to choose one based on turpentine. It does not contain toxic substances and will not harm your child's health. After you have varnished the parts, you need to process it sandpaper. And then cover finishing layer varnish In this case, the wood will be well protected, and the shine will not disappear for many years.

Making a regular chair and table

To assemble a regular chair, we need to cut out the following parts:

  1. Short legs - 2 pieces, length 25 cm, cross-section 3.3 x 3.8 cm.
  2. Long legs - 2 pieces, height 53 cm, cross-section 3.3x3.8 cm.
  3. Back - 1 piece, size 10x30 cm.
  4. Seat - 1 piece, size 30x30 cm.

Crossbars for tying a chair under the seat - 2 pieces, 25.7 cm long, 2 pieces 25.2 cm long.

In this case, the legs should have a narrowing from the middle of the chair. For long ones, reduce the thickness towards the top to 1.9 cm, and short ones - towards the bottom to 2.4 cm. This is necessary so that the front legs do not interfere with the legs, and the back is at a slight angle.

First, we attach the rear legs; to do this, we screw the crossbar between them with self-tapping screws. We do the same with the front ones and fasten them together.

Then we screw the back. We check that all details are clear horizontal mount. Otherwise, the aesthetic appearance of the chair will not be very good.

At the end of the assembly, screw the seat.

For the table we need 4 legs, a frame made from the same block. We make them from a block and the tabletop is made from plywood or chipboard. The sizes here depend on your wishes and the height of the child.

We assemble the harness, attach the legs to the corners and screw the tabletop on top. The table is ready. The size of the screw must be carefully selected, otherwise you can drill right through the tabletop, which will ruin the aesthetic appearance and may injure your child.

Making a chair from plywood

Since plywood is easy to process. It's easy to make a carved chair out of it.

In order to make it you will need:

  • Sheet of plywood, 8 mm thick.
  • Drill, jigsaw.
  • Drill, screws.
  • Sandpaper.
  • PVA glue.
  • Colorless varnish based on turpentine.

Based on our dimensions, we transfer the drawing of the chair onto a sheet of plywood. Can be cut with a jigsaw unusual shape holes that will give interesting view high chair.

In order for the sides of the chair to be completely identical, you must first cut out one, then trace it on a sheet of plywood so that the second side wall completely coincides with the first.

You can make them in the form of an elephant. It will work out original design high chair.

After all the parts are cut out, the sections must be carefully sanded using sandpaper.

We assemble the chair, to do this we attach the seat and back with glue, and secure everything with self-tapping screws.

We coat the chair with varnish.

Making a high chair for feeding a baby

The simplest model of this chair is a transformer, which can easily be folded into a separate small table and a chair.

We make the base from solid wood, the back and seat of the chair from plywood. The tabletop is made of laminated chipboard.

We will need wooden block, section 20x40 mm, laminated chipboard, size 200x340 for the table top on the chair and 450x380 mm on the table, plywood for the seat. In the absence of laminated chipboard, countertops can also be made from plywood.

First we assemble the table. We make two frames from the bars. We connect them with crossbars so that later the chair legs can be inserted between them. Screw the tabletop.

The chair is made in the same way as a regular chair, only we use plywood for the seat and back, onto which you can sew an oilcloth cover and insert foam rubber for softness. This will make it easy to wash the high chair if your baby gets it dirty with food, and will not allow the foam rubber to get wet.

Other types

You can also make garden furniture from plastic bottles. To do this, select bottles of the same size. A 1 liter capacity is quite sufficient for a child. We wrap it with tape to form a seat. To ensure a smooth surface, cover wooden box. All that remains is to sew a leatherette cover, and an excellent stool for the garden is ready.

How to decorate

Even the best quality handmade furniture may not please your child. Therefore, it needs to be decorated. You can use different methods for this.

Bright paint. This is the simplest method. Before varnishing, you can paint the table and chair with bright paint, thereby attracting the child’s attention.

If you have the ability to draw, you can draw various cartoon characters or simply apply a child's drawing.

If your chair does not look very beautiful, but is reliable, then all the flaws can be hidden by sewing a fabric cover. It can always be washed if necessary.

Another method of decorating a chair is stickers. You can buy them ready-made or make them yourself from self-adhesive film using a stencil.

Design

You can make any chairs and tables with your own hands, as long as your imagination and ability to use tools is enough.

A man can realize his creative potential on such utilitarian things as furniture. When the household is in order, when all urgent matters have been done, you can start creating seating furniture. In particular, make a wooden one child chair little boy IN this option it is without a back, but can be made with a back. I will provide a drawing separately.

The design is made taking into account adult loads, so, in fact, this is a universal chair. That is, both a child and an adult can sit on it. Here I sketched a drawing of this chair.

Video instruction

This video shows how to make a classic wooden high chair.

What you need for work

Wooden beam 4x4 cm - for the legs of the chair, 4x2 cm - for the upper crossbars, 3x2 cm - for the lower crossbars

Seat weave straps

Nails for attaching straps to the highchair frame

Furniture screw confirmat - for fastening legs and crossbars

Furniture varnish

Tools: drill, square, jig for drilling at an angle, brush for applying varnish

Progress

1 - 2 - Measure and cut to size wooden blanks for chair legs and crossbars. Sand the wooden surfaces with sandpaper.

3 - Using a jig, we drill holes at an angle of 45 degrees in the crossbars and legs for confirmation screws.

4 - We connect the frame of the chair with screws. Please note that holes of a smaller diameter should be drilled in the legs of the chair than in the crossbars, otherwise the confirmation screws will not engage. The angle is also 45 degrees.

5 - 6 - Cover the resulting frame of the chair with furniture varnish. Give the chair time to dry. Then we start weaving the seat.

7 - Attach the straps to the frame with nails. First, one row lengthwise, then weave a row across. See photo 7 to understand the principle of weaving. The main thing is combining the rows. That is, we begin to thread each subsequent belt either into the first or into the second transverse belt.

As a result, we get such a wonderful children's highchair. By the way, you can use any belts; if you have a lot of old belts with plaques in your collection from your husband, then you can cut off the plaques and put them to use. You can do the same with the handles of bags, briefcases, and so on...

An interesting version of a children's high chair with bunny ears. Men, think about how to implement the idea. I think it's a very nice option!

In fact, there is nothing complicated in the design. You will need two circles, and legs with ears, plus make a couple of cutouts.

Chairs can be made as a set if you have several children the same age, or twins.

But here is a simpler version of the bunny chair. There is generally one base, legs and ears, cut into grooves and glued there.

High chair with a back made of thick plywood for a child

Well, here’s another option, cut out of thick plywood with a jigsaw. The diagram can be enlarged to scale, transferred to plywood, blanks cut out and the structure assembled.

And here's another interesting idea an oversized high chair for feeding a child at an adult table. Of course, here you should think about how you can implement the idea. It is noteworthy that as the child grows, you can move the lower bar for the baby’s feet.

A beautiful children's chair from the artisan brothers

For large quantities modern materials, wood still does not lose its relevance. This is especially true for furniture for children. Of course, you can buy a children's wooden chair in a store, but they are often made of plywood and do not differ high quality. And children's wooden adjustable chairs made from good hardwood are very expensive. To give your child a durable, beautiful and comfortable high chair without spending a lot of money, you should make it yourself. There is a wide variety of models, but the article will discuss three main ones: a regular high chair, a transformer and a high chair for feeding.

DIY wooden children's chair

Before you start manufacturing, you must remember that children's furniture must be safe for health. It should not have sharp corners, it should have perfect smooth surface, without gaps, cracks and gaps, and must also be strong and reliable.

The optimal height of the back of a children's high chair is 55 cm, the seat is 32 cm. You can attach the parts different ways: for self-tapping screws, nails, dowels (at least 2 pieces for each joint) or wooden tenons. Let's consider the last option.

To fasten the structure, strong hidden rectangular tenons are used, which are placed in the grooves with glue. For maximum reliability, the tenons, in addition to glue, are fixed in the grooves with through dowels with a diameter of 6 to 35 mm.

List of parts and materials

  • Top crossbar(1) 1.9x4.1x16.5 cm - 1 pc.
  • Back leg(2) 3x3x55 cm - 2 pcs.
  • Carved crossbar(3) 1.4x4.1x16.5 cm - 1 pc.
  • Middle crossbar (4) 1.4x2.9x16.5 cm - 1 pc.
  • Boards for the seat (5) 1.4x10.5x26.3 cm - 2 pcs.
  • Bottom crossbar(6) 1.4x2.9x16.5 cm - 1 pc.
  • Side crossbar and drawer (7) 1.4x2.9x17.7 cm - 4 pcs.
  • Front leg (8) 3x3x30.5 cm - 2 pcs.
  • Front crossbar and drawer (9) 1.4x2.9x19.5 cm - 2 pcs.

For the rear and front legs, straight-layered pine bars with a cross-section of 3x3 cm are used. Starting from the seat upward, the rear legs should narrow to 1.9 cm. And the front legs - from the seat to the bottom to 2.4x2.4 cm.

Important! Only the outer edges can be planed. This is necessary so that the inner edges of all legs remain parallel to each other, which will ensure easy installation of the drawers and crossbars.

The front edge of the top crossbar should be rounded, and the carved edge can have any pattern, but it is advisable to avoid sharp corners.

The middle crossbar is installed so that its lower edge is flush with the seat.

First of all, the back pair of legs is glued together, as well as all the crossbars. Next, a pair of front legs and a crossbar are connected, after which they are connected to each other by drawers and crossbars.

All gluing points are compressed with clamps, but with obligatory control of right angles. To do this, you can use a carpenter's square. The seat planks are attached last. Their reliability is especially important, therefore, after the glue has completely dried, they are additionally strengthened with wooden dowels, for which holes must be drilled. The protruding ends are removed with a chisel.

Children's wooden transforming chair

It is a set of children's table and chair that can be transformed into different positions. This is a single desk for studying and a comfortable chair for feeding. It folds up quite compactly, which is especially important for small apartments.

Necessary parts for the high chair:

  • legs 39 cm - 4 pcs.;
  • rounded corners - 4 pcs.;
  • upper crossbars 22 cm - 2 pcs.;
  • crossbars 34 cm - 2 pcs.;
  • diameter 30 cm - 3 pcs.;
  • seat base 20x30 cm - 1 pc.

Details for the table:

  • legs 50 cm - 4 pcs.;
  • strips 41 cm - 4 pcs.;
  • diameter 34 cm - 4 pcs.;
  • table top 45x38 cm - 1 piece.

For legs, slats, crossbars and crossbars, it is best to use timber with a cross-section of 2x4 cm, and for the tabletop and seat, plywood 1.8 cm thick is suitable. Rounded corners are cut from boards 2 cm thick. As mentioned above, the wood must be well dried and have no knots or cracks.

Making a chair frame

All parts will be attached to each other with glue, but to ensure more high strength, you should also use wooden dowels measuring 2x5 cm. They can be easily made with your own hands from plywood 8 mm thick.

For each dowel, a special groove is made at the connection points. First, using a drill (6 mm drill), the ends are drilled in the place where the dowel will be laid, and then the groove is directly selected with a chisel 8 mm thick. But before installing it, all connections must be coated with glue.

Thus, the side parts of the future chair are assembled, tightened with clamps (making sure that the angle is exactly 90 degrees) and left until the glue dries completely. Below is a drawing of a children's wooden chair.

After this, they must be sanded well until the surface is smooth.

Making the back and seat

The back and seat are made of 25x30 cm in size from 2-3 sheets of plywood glued together. It is advisable to round all corners. Foam rubber is glued to them and everything is covered with a fabric cover. Before installing them on the chair frame, they are fastened together with metal brackets.

Now let's start assembling the chair. First, two finished sidewalls are connected using planks. Fastening is carried out using the technology already described. The seat itself rests on slats, and to secure it you will need cylindrical dowels or screws. Then the lower strips and the back strip are installed on which the backrest will be mounted. After all work has been completed, the chair should be left to dry.

In addition to the main table, you can also make a small tabletop. It is especially convenient for feeding or playing with small children. To make it you will need a plywood sheet from which the table top is cut required size. It is attached to the armrests using glue and dowels. But it makes more sense to attach it with self-tapping screws; this will allow you to easily dismantle it if desired.

Making a table

The technology for assembling the table is absolutely identical to assembling the chair. Therefore, there is no need to describe it in detail; you just need to focus on the main stages. First, the side parts of the table are assembled and sanded, then they are connected by transverse strips and sanded again.

When the children's wooden transformable chair is ready, it is coated with several layers of varnish.

High children's wooden feeding chair

Making furniture with your own hands is a labor-intensive process. Nowadays it’s easier to buy ready-made or order it than to make it yourself. But there are times when a thing is needed a short time or there is no way to pay a lot of money for it. One option is a high chair for feeding your baby. The tip below will tell you how to make one from an old chair with your own hands.

Children's wooden chair assembly diagram

To make it you need the simplest chair with a backrest. It is very good if it has. It is important that it has crossbars between the legs and is strong and reliable. In the future, turning it over, the back will serve as the front legs of the future chair. Next, you will need strong wooden slats the size of the height of the chair; we fix them as shown in the figure. So, we get a back pair of legs, which are fastened together with a strap. To achieve maximum stability, the rear legs must be attached at an angle that is selected individually. Then all the legs are fastened together with horizontal strips.

The frame of the future chair is ready. You can make it more convenient to use by attaching smoothly sanded boards or a sheet of plywood as a seat. A soft seat is placed on top of it. Small smooth boards are used for the back and table top.

That's all, the chair is ready.

It doesn’t matter how the baby is assembled wooden high chair, the main thing is that it should be comfortable and safe for the child. So that the finished chair and table have an aesthetic appearance and last as long as possible, they are covered with a protective paint and varnish composition in several layers. Besides this, everything wooden parts can be decorated with bright designs, which are applied with a simple brush or sponge through a stencil.

For seat upholstery it is optimal to use artificial leather, so it is easy to clean. This is especially true for young children. It is desirable that the back of the chair have soft upholstery made of waterproof fabric.

Before assembly, all wooden parts must be carefully sanded with sandpaper, first coarse-grained, then fine-grained, until a perfectly smooth surface is obtained.

If the chair is assembled with self-tapping screws, their caps are recessed and closed with plastic plugs matched to the color.

In addition, you can get creative and make the chair colorful and interesting for a child, choosing a bright one upholstery fabric, and painting all wooden parts oil paint bright colors.

Or you can entrust the design to the future owner of the chair itself.

Do-it-yourself wooden children's chair: easy, simple and fast

Still don't know how to design a highchair yourself? Our article will help you understand all the intricacies of folding this irreplaceable piece of furniture. You will see that assembling children's high chairs from wood with your own hands is not difficult.

Material

Before you start assembling the chair with your own hands, you should decide on the material. Of course, wood is the best choice; it is completely safe and environmentally friendly. Which wood to choose? Let's start with beech. Beech is considered dense and durable wood, and it’s easier to work with than, for example, oak. If you are looking for something more budget-friendly, birch and pine - a good option. But before starting work, the wood should be deresined, since the resin, even if it is natural, is unsafe. You can also choose plywood to make a chair - good material, made from layers of tree veneer. Plywood is not heavy and is easy to process. Chipboard is the most affordable, but at the same time, the most short-lived. It is suitable for making a table top for a high chair.

Preparation

You can find materials and drawings for children's furniture in any hardware store. Dry the wood by leaving it in a room with room temperature for a day. The wood will become suitable for work.
Are you not sure that you can make all the elements of the chair with your own hands? Contact a hardware store.

The back and seat must be rectangular shape. The sides of the children's chair can be made and decorated as you like. Try not to make a highchair with sharp corners - they are dangerous for the child.

Material processing

Naturally, the material cannot be used in its original form for either a regular chair or a high chair. It needs to be processed. You can do this yourself or turn to professionals. The wood should be treated with hand router or regular sandpaper. With a router, processing must be done in cross sections. Apply varnish. Buy varnish with a turpentine base - it does not contain toxic substances. After letting the varnish dry, sand the surface several times. For a smooth finish, coat with varnish again.

Construction procedure and diagram

On: another option for designing a high chair. Must watch????

To fasten a regular chair, you can use dowels. They are good because they can also be made from wood with your own hands. Holes with a diameter of 6-8 mm should be made under them. Place the pieces tightly onto the dowels by tapping them with a hammer. Secure with a clamp and leave for 24 hours. If you need to secure the elements of a high chair, it will be more convenient to use confirmats. Such ties are suitable for folding a large number of parts.

You can make drawings and diagrams yourself or find them on a construction site. It’s better to do the drawing yourself, measuring the child’s parameters. Carefully calculate the dimensions, height and width ratio. Of course, it is more difficult to draw a diagram for a high chair yourself, so it is better to turn to ready-made drawings.

If you have made a drawing, but are not entirely sure whether it is correct, test it by folding a cardboard model of the high chair.

Typically, children from 1 to 6 are provided with either regular wooden chairs for games or activities, or a high chair. You can make a separate small table and chair with your own hands using a drawing.

Regular wooden chair

For regular high chair do it yourself, you will need the following parts:

  • 2 short legs, 2 long (53 cm high). Dimensions of 4 legs - 3.8 * 3.3 cm;
  • seat (approx. 30*30 cm);
  • back (6 mm thick, 22.5 cm high);
  • bars under the seat;
  • drawing of an ordinary chair.

A corner should be made from the wide parts of the tall legs. Align the sides short legs and bars with a grinder. Take drilling machine and install a drill with a diameter of 6 mm. Measure the depth of 1.5 cm on the drill and mark it using the drawing. Drill along the long legs at an angle, making 12 holes. Using a chisel, we select everything from the drilled parts and make grooves. We insert the back into the grooves.

If part of the back rests, cut out a triangle and hammer the back into the groove. Make spikes on the sides of the block and round the corners. We make grooves for the tenons in the legs. We assemble the frame. If the back is too wide and does not fit into the grooves, measure and cut off the excess. Don't forget to make triangles on the sides of the back so that it sits firmly in the grooves. Take your time to insert into the back legs. Make a handle for the chair in the back. Mark the distance and cut a hole for the handle.

We insert the back into the frame. Now we make marks on the seat and cut it out. Sand the seat and insert it into the frame.

Lubricate the holes, elements and spikes for fastening with glue, secure with clamps, and leave to dry.

Wooden baby high chair

You will have to spend more time and money on a wooden high chair for feeding your baby. In order to make such a piece of furniture with your own hands, you will need:

  • bars with a cross section of 400*200 mm
  • board (thickness 20 mm)
  • fibreboard measuring 2000*2100 mm.
  • drawing of a high chair

For the chair you will need: 4 legs, 2 upper crossbars and 2 lower ones, 3 crossbars. tabletop.
For the table: legs, slats, crossbars 4 pieces each, table top

We cut out the parts for the chair from the bars and sand them with sandpaper. We cut out the elements for the chair arms from the board. We connect using dowels and glue. Holes with a depth of 30 mm will be needed for the dowels.

For the side, you will need crossbars, 2 curves, 2 legs. Lubricate the dowels and holes with glue. First, assemble the bottom crossbar and legs (the angle should be 90 degrees). Then we assemble the top crossbar and two curves. We tighten everything with a clamp. Leave for one day. The second side is folded in the same way. Make sure they are the same.

Now another one important stage– assembly of seat and backrest. Be careful here, as children are very restless during feeding, so all parts must be firmly fixed. You need 6 parts from a plate measuring 300*250 mm. Round the corners so that the radius is 50 mm. Next you need to start sanding the ends. Lubricate the parts with glue and press. You can connect the back and seat with screws. We glue the crossbars to the sidewalls. Then you need to connect the legs with all the planks, attach the sides with crossbars and fix the tabletop at one end. We get a ready-made baby high chair.

The birth of children in every family is considered the most important event in life. They are what we live for, and those people who, at the end of our lives, will become our hope and support. It’s no wonder that each parent tries to make the life of their child as comfortable as possible. When the child begins to sit, he will need a place where he can eat and play.

Currently available for sale a large number of various children's chairs. Made from plastic and wood, with or without a feeding table, the variety of models can confuse any adult. However, it is worth noting that the prices for children’s high chairs also differ in their diversity, and in most cases it would be a stretch to call them affordable. And this parameter is largely decisive for parents with a small child. In this case, there is one correct solution - to make a highchair yourself. With a little knowledge and experience in woodworking processes, this task will be within your grasp. Materials for making a high chair are very easy to obtain. Both wood and fasteners can either be found in your garage or purchased inexpensively at any hardware store. So, how to make a children's high chair with your own hands - further.

Wooden children's chair: drawing

Before starting work, it is necessary to prepare a drawing of the future product. Thanks to which it is possible to correctly evaluate required amount materials, sequence of work, appearance of the future product.

One of the most simple ways preparing a drawing is a “copy from life”. To do this, you can take the finished product and, armed with a caliper, tape measure and ruler, take dimensions from it. After that, simply transfer the results to the drawing. If you have design knowledge, then you can experiment and create a children’s chair with your own hands, which will be an exclusive product.

Whatever drawing option is chosen, it is necessary to remember that this piece of furniture is intended specifically for a child. Therefore, the product, first of all, must be safe. The chair must have excellent stability. Small child constantly trying to learn the world, he spins around, trying to reach the toy. At this time, the center of gravity of the chair is constantly shifting, so the child can easily fall and get hurt. The chair should not have sharp corners, everything metal parts must be hidden in a secret place.

For very small children, it is better to provide a small table so that they can eat. If your child is fidgety, you can include seat belts in the project.

What to make a children's high chair from with your own hands

Naturally, the quality of the material from which you can make a highchair with your own hands depends on the financial capabilities of the parents. If funds allow, it is better to use an array quality wood. If there is a shortage of them, a high chair can be made from plywood and chipboard. Although such models do not look attractive, their cost is much lower.

When choosing solid wood, it is better to give preference to hardwood. The best choice for making furniture - beech. He has medium density and is quite easy to process, unlike oak. At the same time, beech wood looks attractive and lasts a long time. The only drawback of this type of wood is the price, although it is, of course, less than that of oak. If there is a lack of funds, you can use birch wood.

Plywood is another fairly popular material for making children's furniture. Due to its multilayer structure, this material has a fairly large margin of safety. At the same time, using the through-carving technique, you can make a rather interesting piece of furniture. As a rule, chairs made of plywood are painted.

Chipboard is one of the cheapest manufacturing options. It is easy to process, inexpensive, and has a sufficient margin of safety. Among the disadvantages of chipboard, it is worth noting its not entirely neat appearance, and the fact that the material does not have a dense structure. That's why he doesn't hold well metal fastener, which can lead to destruction of the entire structure. Typically, chipboard is used to make flat surfaces such as seats or high tables.

Preparation of material and tools

To begin work, you need to prepare the required amount of material and fasteners. For the manufacture of simple chair you will need a certain tool.

Materials you will need:

  • Bar wooden size 50x50 mm for constructing a frame.
  • 20x40 block for mounting crossbars and stiffeners.
  • A board 30 mm wide and 10 mm thick, or a piece of solid wood or plywood for making a seat.
  • Metal corners. If the structure will be connected using fastening elements, and not using spikes, it must be strengthened metal corners. They are placed in places of perpendicular joints and fasten the two parts, increasing reliability.

When choosing a tree, you need to pay attention to the fact that it does not have knots. The knot reduces the strength wooden elements, and as a result, they often break when exposed to loads. In the case of a highchair, this can cause the child to fall and be injured.

The tools you will definitely need are:

  • Wood saw or jigsaw.
  • Plane.
  • Electric drill, screwdriver.
  • An electric router, if you plan to mount it on a “spike”. If the structure will be secured with metal fasteners, this tool is not necessary.
  • Sander and sandpaper for polishing the surface of wooden parts.
  • Ruler, square, tape measure.

Before work, wooden parts must be processed with a plane so that they have the same smooth surface.

The child's chair will have the following dimensions:

  • The height from the end of the back to the floor is 630 mm (a fairly tall children's wooden chair).
  • The distance between the chair legs is 280 mm in depth and 320 mm in width.
  • Height of legs: front – 410 mm, rear – 630 mm.
  • For the chair legs and handrails a block with a cross-section of 20x35 mm will be used, for transverse fastening - a block of 20x20 mm.
  • The elements will be connected using self-tapping screws and round tenons.

The process of making a children's wooden chair with your own hands

Work order:

  1. The first step is to cut four legs from a beam with a cross-section of 20x35 mm: 2 410 mm long, two 630 mm long. To connect them, we cut out 4 strips from timber of the same section, 280 mm long. They will play the role of handrails and stiffeners.
  2. Next, we connect two pairs of legs (long back and short front) using side strips. We do this with the help of spikes. They have a standard diameter of 8 to 10 mm. To do this, holes are drilled in the legs and crossbars, into which a spike is driven. Before hammering it in, you need to pour a little glue into the holes. The holes should be 0.5 mm smaller in diameter than the tenon itself so that it fits tightly into them.
  3. We connect the two legs with crossbars at a height of 410 mm and 250 mm (this will be the height of the seat mounting). Having assembled the left pair of legs, you need to proceed to the right one. It is assembled in the same way as the previous one. We reinforce the joints of the legs with the crossbars with corners.
  4. When the process is completed, apply both halves to each other. They must match exactly. Otherwise, the stool will be uneven.
  5. Next, we connect both halves using bars with a section of 20x20 mm and a length of 310 mm. To do this, we drill holes with a diameter of 8 mm in the crossbars and screw into it a self-tapping screw with an internal hexagonal hole in the head. Having installed these bars, we get a structure that is completely similar to a high chair. The final look will be given to it by installing the back and seat.
  6. We make the back from several small planks 10 mm thick and 30 mm wide. We nail them to the long legs using small nails. In this case, the back made of planks will act as additional rigidity. Exactly like the seat, which is assembled using the same planks.
  7. After collecting all the elements, the design of the children's wooden high chair is ready. One of strengths This design means that a small feeding table can be easily installed on top of the side rails. A small piece is enough to make it. laminated chipboard 20 mm thick and PVC edges.
  8. The chipboard must be cut out (the shape and size depends on the preferences of the parents) and the cut area must be covered with a PVC edge. Then you need to do two through holes in the places where the table is attached to the handrails and screw it to the chair. Now the child can play while sitting in a high chair or eat. If you are afraid that a child, especially a small one, may fall out of the chair, you can attach a “seat belt” to him.
  9. Use a piece of old leather strap to connect the bottom of the table to the bottom of the seat. The belt is screwed to the tree with self-tapping screws and large washers. Now, this belt will be between the child’s legs and will not allow him to slip out of the chair.

The last stage of making a children's wooden high chair with your own hands will be its processing and painting. The fact is that the child will do whatever he wants with the chair, and he must endure this test with honor without injuring the baby. All sharp corners and burrs must be sanded. To protect the wood from corrosion, it must be exposed with several layers of drying oil and painted. When choosing paint, give preference to wear-resistant materials that will not peel off, because pieces of paint can not only cause injury to a child, but can also be eaten by him. After painting, you can apply a layer of clear varnish.
