What coal is better to heat a solid fuel boiler. Coal

As a rule, the one who installs autonomous boiler equipment in his house for the first time faces the problems of its operation. Not everyone, for example, knows how to properly heat a boiler with coal, what type of solid fuel to choose for the indicated purposes. Experts pay attention to the fact that any furnace must be handled with extreme caution, carefully observing all fire safety regulations. It is also useful to familiarize yourself with the functioning of the selected equipment.

How does a coal boiler work?

What is a coal boiler? This is a simple installation, which consists of two sections. Coal is laid in the upper firebox. After it burns down, ash and slag remain, which fall into the lower compartment and are removed from there as necessary. Between the cameras is an ordinary grille made of durable cast iron.

Such furnaces can be additionally equipped with sophisticated automation, which allows you to translate the work of the installation offline and manage the load. If there is no automation, coal furnaces work by means of natural circulation. The first type of device has several operational advantages, but there are many long-burning devices for long-burning furnaces.

Automation works extremely simple. Thanks to her and the work of the fan, it is easy to control the flow of oxygen into the furnace. The more of it, the more coal burns, and the faster it burns fuel, giving the maximum amount of heat. Restricting access to oxygen leads to the opposite effect. The fuel burns more slowly, the amount of heat given off decreases, but the time of burning coal increases.

The temperature of heating is regulated by a special thermal sensor. Modes of operation of the boiler can be programmed. If the set temperature is reached, the sensor triggers and turns off the fan. In this case, the oxygen supply decreases, and the furnace burns slower. When the temperature drops, the fan turns on and begins to intensively pump oxygen into the furnace. Coal again flares up. If we consider these features of the operation of a solid fuel boiler, it becomes clear when and how to put coal in the furnace.

What coal to choose for the furnace?

What is coal? It is a product of plant origin, which consists of carbon and non-combustible impurities. After burning, they form the ash and slag-like substances. The ratio of the two components is different everywhere. It is this, as well as the “age” of fossil fuel, that determines the brand of coal. Experts distinguish several varieties.

The “youngest” type of coal is lingite. It has a rather loose structure. If you pick up a ball of lingitis, it will quickly crumble and lose its shape. Such coal is most often used in thermal power plants, but lingite is not suitable for home heating.

In addition to lingite, brown coal is also mined; anthracite is the most ancient carbon deposits. All varieties have different levels of humidity. In brown coal, for example, the humidity is 50%, in anthracite its threshold does not exceed 7%. Therefore, anthracite has the highest specific heat. Its indicators are 9 thousand kcal / kg. The lowest indicator for hard coal is 5.5 kcal / kg. In the brown variety, the specific heat is only 3 kcal / kg. Given all this, it is easy to understand what type of fuel to buy for heating the house.

How to use solid fuel installation?

Coal boiler operation

The principle of operation of the solid fuel boiler is known, the issue with the choice of the type of coal is resolved. It remains to learn how to properly heat the stove. There are several simple rules that everyone who chooses the described installations for organizing a country house heating should learn.

Remember! First, the stove must be prepared for kindling, then the fuel is properly loaded into it. During its burning, the installation must be monitored closely, removing the products of combustion in time.

Let us dwell on all these points in more detail.

Cooking stove for kindling

If a stove in a country house is used occasionally, it is necessary to exclude the presence of cracks inside the masonry before beginning its operation for safety purposes.

What are they dangerous? Through them into the room can penetrate the products of combustion and carbon monoxide, which should be thrown out with the help of traction. If a similar defect is found, it must be repaired before firing up by smearing the gaps with a mixture of clay and sand. Otherwise, the cracks may increase in size when heated. And this will lead to dangerous situations.

Looking around the stove outside, remove flammable objects away from it and clean it inside. Rake ashes and slag with a scapula, freeing the inner compartment. It is advisable to wipe with a dry cloth and the inner walls of the furnace. If this is not done, then during the kindling the dust will start to burn, filling the room with an unpleasant smell.

It is necessary to heat a coal stove several times a day. The duration of one firebox should not exceed two hours. For loading it is better to use well-dried coal of medium fraction.

Note! Moist fuels give off steam when burning. It forms condensate that accumulates inside the chimney. Mixing up with soot, the condensate forms coke, which gradually clogs the passage of the chimney, narrowing it. And this leads to problems with the burden.

For the ignition of coal can not use household waste, as well as flammable liquids - gasoline or kerosene. It is impossible to leave the furnace unattended during burning. Especially strictly this rule must be observed if there are small children or animals in the house.

How to heat coal?

Laying solid fuel boilers

It is necessary to heat the stove as follows:

  • First, at the bottom of the furnace stacked sheets of newspaper or any other dry paper. Over it we have a layer of small wood chips. And on them we put a small pile of wood, such as birch logs. So that they quickly inflamed, they must be folded in the form of a well or a small hut.
  • We set fire to paper. The door of the furnace is closed, and the blower is opened. With it, it is easy to control the intensity of burning fuel. The stronger the air flow, the faster the firewood burns through.
  • After the firewood is completely burned through, and only a small pile of smoldering ash remains from them, you need to lay a 15-centimeter layer of fine coal directly on it.

Note! Opening the door to load fuel, be sure to close the blower.

  • When the 15-centimeter layer of coal burns well, a larger coal is laid directly onto it and a 60 cm high cushion is built. Previously it is useful to turn the burned-out fuel thoroughly, which will improve air circulation and prevent sintering of the coal mass. Coal can be laid by opening the firebox door.

Note! Substandard solid fuel tends to coke. Therefore, experienced stove experts advise laying a layer of coal with layers of firewood. Such a multi-layered cake will allow the installation to flare up well and give the maximum amount of heat.

  • In order to properly melt the furnace, it is better to act like this - open the ash pan and give the paper with chips to burn through natural circulation. So it will be possible to warm up the chimney well. As the fuel goes up, the thrust will increase, so you need to close the ash pan and turn on the fan.

How to remove ash?

Heating solid fuel boilers

When the furnace is heated with wood, it is very easy to clean the ashes. Fuel burns and crumbles into the ash chamber.

Coal burning time is much longer, so it is rather difficult to remove slags in time. Saves the position of laying wood - a layer of wood, a layer of coal. You can cope with this problem by increasing the combustion temperature. Therefore, it is useful to learn to regulate traction.

Conclusion

Heating a house with coal has several advantages:

  • First, coal has a high heat transfer, and the time of its burning is many times longer than the time of burning wood. Therefore, one bookmark is enough for 12 hours. The bookmark is done only manually, and you will have to load the oven only 2-3 times a day.
  • Secondly, there are several types of coal for sale. The lower the humidity of the fuel, the more expensive it is, but it is much easier to operate the heating system when using a quality product.

It is quite simple to heat a furnace with coal. But there are a number of nuances that must be considered when operating the described installation. All of them are indicated in the article.

How to heat a solid fuel boiler with coal - basic rules and useful tips

Buying boiler equipment, the newly-made owner faces difficulties in its operation. First question of interest how to heat coal solid fuel boiler  right. Before you begin to understand it, you need to remember that any autonomous heating equipment requires unconditional observance of instructions and safety precautions.

Furnace process

The process of starting a solid fuel boiler is divided into two main stages.

Even if you constantly use only coal for fueling, you need to make kindling using dry wood. Before you start laying coal, first of all, you need to burn a small portion of firewood to coal. They are laid evenly over the grate and lit.

At the same time it is necessary that the pipe valve was slightly ajar.

When the kindling fires, the pipe valve opens until it stops and the first portion of solid fuel is added. The layer should be uniform over the entire lattice with a thickness of 5–8 cm. After that, the blower is opened and the furnace door is closed. As soon as the coal is hot, you need to throw the rest of the coal, which should also be distributed evenly over the grate.

Subsequent portions of solid fuel need to be added only after the coal has been properly ignited.

Tip 2 Do not forget the doors

When dobrasovaniya if you open the furnace door completely, it is necessary to cover the blower.

Tip 3 don't be afraid to wet coal

To increase the time of coal combustion and, accordingly, its heat transfer, it is necessary to moisten it with water before being cast. The intensity of moisture depends on the brand of coal that you drown:

  • Highly fusible coals consisting of small fractions, grades Ж and ПЖ require abundant wetting. You need to add so much water so that all the particles stick together. But you also need to make sure that there is no excess moisture;
  • Small coals of the CC, T and PC grades need moderate moisture;
  • Long-flame coals are only sprayed with water to precipitate dust;
  • Anthracite, in general, does not require wetting. If it contains a lot of small particles, then you can sprinkle it a little with water to prevent dust.

How to shun coal

In order to avoid the rapid combustion of coal, it is necessary to constantly humble it. How often and intensively you need to do this depends entirely on the type of coal:

  • Brown multi-ash coals require frequent stirring, otherwise they will very quickly burn and turn into ashes. It is best to load this kind of coal in small portions;
  • All other types of solid fuel should be shoved as rarely as possible so that the firebox does not cool, and the coals do not fall into the grid and do not mix with the resulting slag.

How to finish the furnace

When the fuel is burning it is necessary to slightly cover the blowing door. When the last layer of fuel is no more than 4 cm, then the chimney should be closed altogether, and the pipe should be closed three-quarters with a valve. And only after all the coals are completely burned does the pipe close completely.

If this is done earlier, then you can burn off the accumulation of carbon monoxide.

Solid fuel boiler is an investment in your home. If it is used to replace an old-style fireplace or cauldron, it will have the potential to reduce the carbon footprint of your home by at least 14% and truly make most wood an environmentally friendly and renewable energy. Making the decision to replace an existing inefficient device or install a boiler from scratch in your living space may seem complicated, but there are a large number of options from which to choose.

How to use solid fuel boiler

  • If you heat the boiler for the first time, only a small fire should be lit.
  • Too hot a fire will cause the smoke coming from the paint, which is not necessarily bad, but unpleasant.
  • Paint can also become soft at this time. Avoid all contact, as the finish is easily damaged!
  • Rope door seals may stick to the boiler body - leave the door slightly ajar at the time of first use!
  • All materials must be given time to adapt to the effects of heat.
  • Heat resistant paint reaches its maximum thermal stability after several hours.
  • It is recommended to open the doors or windows when the boiler is lit for the first time.
  • Vibrations caused by transport may loosen the nuts / bolts holding the glass, door handles, etc. so please check and tighten them before use. Try not to over-brace the glass retaining brackets and make sure that the seals are in place.
  • Some models have a spring-loaded door that performs security functions. It may be weakened.
  • Before ignition, check that the removable partition, which you will find inside the combustion chamber at the top, is moved to the back of the boiler, thus directing the flame forward. Usually a small piece of wood holds it in place, it can be seen from the smoke passage. It can be left in place and burned during first use.
  • Also check that the other internal components are in their positions. Remove all additional tools from the ash pan, as well as warming stones / bricks.
  • Primary air passes through the lower ventilation, through the grate and into the combustion chamber. This is useful for igniting fire and for burning such solid fuels as coal.

Wood burns more efficiently when the combustion air comes from the space above the bed of fire and not beneath it. Oxygen coming from the space above the bed of fire through the auxiliary air ventilation above the door ensures the combustion of gases coming out of the wood when it is heated. This heat heats the device instead of wasting it in the chimney or condensing and creating tar deposits inside the boiler, chimney or on the glass of the door. Since the draft is determined by the height of the chimney, correct control over the secondary air will be achieved by trial and error.

Boiler ignition

  1. Open the upper and lower air regulators fully.
  2. Place a folded and crumpled newspaper in the back of the boiler. Put a little tinder on the surface of the newspaper and then some few big pieces of wood on top of it all. Light a newspaper and close the door.
  3. Let the flame burn until all the bars of the tree are lit. Then you can add more large pieces of wood / logs.
  4. When you burn a tree: if the fire is established, then the lower regulator can be closed so that all the air for the flame comes in through the upper regulator. The burning rate can now be controlled by adjusting the upper air regulator and regulating the amount of wood added. The lower air regulator should normally remain closed when the boiler is running. If the fire is allowed to almost go out or sink too low, then the lower control can be opened to give air access to the base of the flame in an attempt to revive it. If the ambient temperature is above 14 ° C, then the thrust may be insufficient, and the use of the main regulator will become a necessity.
  5. When you burn coal and other solid fuels: you must use the main air regulator.
  6. Do not let the boiler work with the door open.
  7. The knobs and knobs become hot when the boiler is in use, so you need to wear gloves.
  8. Never use a boiler without refractory bricks put in there - they protect steel from oxidation.

Please note that the glass will darken first, but in the end it will clear from correct operation with the correct fuel. Logs that were not sufficiently dried and aged, will always darken the glass.

The first stage of the fire, immediately after ignition, is often the most smoky. During this stage, make sure that both air inlets on the boiler are fully open in order to get a hot flame. The extra heat “forces” the chimney to produce strong cravings and helps keep the pipe clean, releasing creosote, which can remain in the form of sediment from the previous fire. Hot initial firing also removes moisture from the wood and gives a flammable source for smoke that comes out of the bars.

  • Gradually adding a small amount of fuel will help to maintain a steady temperature and burning rate so that the boiler will work productively and cleanly. Adding a large amount of fuel at a time will significantly reduce the temperature inside the boiler. After adding a large amount of wood, it’s a good idea to increase the upper air inlet a little more, until the new fuel starts burning and the boiler returns to the required temperature.
  • The gradual establishment of air regulators will also help maintain a steady burning rate.
  • Do not start the boiler if the upper air regulator is completely closed. It supplies air to the blowing system. The more open the upper regulator, the more efficiently the blowing system works.

How to heat a boiler with coal

Despite the simplicity of the design, the methods of heating must be selected on the basis of the requirements, the main of which is the duration of combustion and the preservation of high temperature after complete combustion of about 8 hours. When burning coal  determine the appropriate mode. Maintain coal burning constantly.

Melt first a small amount of coal with paper and wood chips. Go to sleep boiler  a small portion of coal and close the loading door. Adjust the air supply. The more oxygen is supplied, the faster the process of coal combustion will take place, however, the resulting heat of burning will be short-lived. And vice versa, if you close the door to the air supply channel strongly, the coal will smolder, or it may even go out and will not give enough heat, since it will emit a lot of smoke. In addition, there is a danger of penetration of this smoke into the room, which you do not need at all.

After you adjust the air supply system, and the combustion will occur evenly, add another small amount of coal to the furnace through the upper loading door. When the volume of coal in the furnace to one third of the chamber will provide continuous combustion and stable heat for 3 hours. Control coal supply to boiler. relying on the water temperature sensor.

As a rule, it is sufficient to maintain the temperature within 80 ° C. For burning, backfill for a longer time and evenly distribute up to half of the chamber. Do not fill up too much coal, otherwise it will not burn, but will be baked on the grate and it will be quite difficult to clean it.

Adjust the burning of coal by supplying boiler  of air. Do not open the views too much, otherwise uncontrolled burning of a large mass of coal will occur, which will lead to boiling of water in the boiler, and you will receive heat for a maximum of 5 hours. Ash will accumulate in the bottom chamber - ash. Clean the ash pan daily. As a rule, this is done before the morning kindling of the boiler. A clean ashpit will provide good exhaust of smoke through the chimney channel.

Features of the furnace of solid fuel boilers coal

The efficiency of any boiler depends on the correctness of ignition and burning of fuel in it. After all, for example, improper ignition of coal can turn into a transformation of a large part of its mass into coke. He, although it will burn, but for a long time. This will generate an insufficient amount of heat. To heat the device correctly, you need to know what features have different types of fuel for solid fuel boilers and how best to make a fire in different types of boilers.

In some boilers, coal, firewood or pellets can burn from the bottom up, in others - vice versa, from the top down. In most of the long-burning boilers, pellets or other fuel flares upwards. These are pyrolysis and pellet devices. Some models of pyrolysis units allow to burn pellets, firewood and coal from top to bottom. However, this method of combustion is most characteristic of the boiler. "Stropuva"  and its analogues.

Fuel ignition preparation

This process is the same for all types of long-burning boilers. It includes several stages:

  1. Cleaning the grate from ash. This is done by moving the ashes with a shovel over the grates. During this process, the ash easily falls down.
  2. Ash removal from ash chamber. To do this, use the spatula. Work carefully so as not to raise dust into the air.
  3. Wiping the walls of the furnace. To do this, use a dry cloth. By this get rid of accumulated dust on the walls  and the future unpleasant odor, which is formed during the combustion of dust during the combustion of pellets, firewood or another type of fuel.
  4. Chimney cleaning. It is done very rarely. However, before the first kindling in the new heating season, it is necessary to check and clean the chimney.

Coal ignition in pyrolysis boilers

  If you plan to heat the boilers with coal. you always need to pay attention to the type of grate. This is because there are special modifications for each type of fuel. Many manufacturers often include grate for coal.

Coal ignition depends on whether the long-burning boiler was used before, and whether it has automatic controls to regulate the air supply. The main element of automation is a fan.

If the boiler was heated a few days ago and equipped with automation, the ignition technique is the simplest.

It is carried out as follows:

  1. Open up shurovochny door  (is the second from the bottom) and put on the grate paper. Properly put a thin paper or newspaper.
  2. On paper poured special ignition chips. It takes a little, so the expense is small.
  3. Put firewood on top.
  4. On firewood place the crushed coal. Its consumption is large compared to the consumption of wood chips, because the thickness of the layer should be 15 cm.
  5. I open the damper in the chimney  t completely.
  6. Light the paper, close each door and turn on the automation, setting the required temperature level.
  7. After 5-10 minutes, check how the fire broke out. To do this, the automatic switch off and open the furnace door. It is better to open it slowly, because the smoke output will be the smallest. If the first portion of coal has not flared up, then the door is closed, turn on the automation and wait some more time. If the coal caught fire, the main portion of the fuel is poured from above. It is right to pour in so that the gaps in the front part of the grate remain uncovered.

If the long-burning boiler is cold and has not been heated for a long time, then correctly ignite the coal on a natural draft. This process is the same as the fuel ignition in the long-burning boiler without a fan. The procedure will be described below. After the kindling, all doors close and turn on the automatic control unit. He himself estimates the intensity of combustion, does all the calculations and determines how much to heat the boiler.

Coal ignition in natural pyrolysis boilers

It is performed as follows:

  1. Open the door of the flame chamber.
  2. Open the ash chamber door. She must be open at an angle of 45 °  in relation to the front wall of the long-burning heating boiler.
  3. Fully open the throttle (damper) of the chimney. Due to this, the thrust will be maximum.
  4. Put the paper on the grate. and on paper - wood chips. Set paper on fire.
  5. Small firewood is put on a small light. Their consumption will be small, because their number should be small. After, close the door of the furnace.
  6. When the firewood broke out, open the fire door, one third of the furnace is covered with coal  and close the door.
  7. After ignition of all fuel, open the firebox and fill the coal. They fill the furnace on the upper level of the furnace door. If poor quality coal is used, it can coke. This can be avoided by mixing the fuel (this is very inconvenient) or by laying a layer of wood, then a layer of coal, again firewood and coal. In the second case, the consumption of coal will decrease, and the consumption of firewood will increase. But, this is better than the first case.
  8. Ash door cover half. If, in such a position, the smoke will come out through the blower, then it must also be covered up. Can not be completely closed.
  9. As soon as the coolant in the system has become warm enough, it is covered in such a way that there was a gap of 2-5 mm .
  10. Half close the choke in the chimney. Such a position of the throttle and blower will contribute to the most effective operating mode of a solid fuel long-burning boiler. In this mode the device should work until 9/10 of the loaded coal volume is burned. .

  • When 9/10 of the fuel burned, you can open the blower 5 mm. Then there are two options: wait until the coal is burned, that is, the completion of the boiler is realized or add a new one.
  • Before the subsequent addition of coal choke open fully. Also open up the blower and wait 2-3 minutes. Increased traction pulls smoke out of the combustion chamber, which causes less smoke to enter the room when the fire door is opened. Then the door is opened and coal with wood is added. The amount of fuel taken on the basis of how much time I want to heat the boiler. The door is closed.
  • The following actions depend on how much coal and firewood (pellets can be in their place) were uploaded. If the calculation shows that the loaded volume is three times more than the volume of fuel that was in the furnace, then the blower is opened at an angle of 30-45 ° for 5-10 minutes. The time span can be long. Its calculation depends on the moisture content of the coal. After the start of smoldering, the injected fuel is blown back into the position at which a 2-5 mm gap is formed.
  • In the case of loading such a volume of coal, which is less than half of the chamber, any regulatory actions, as well as calculations, are unnecessary.
  • New fuel can be put at almost any time. That is, when the coal in the chamber is burning (pellets. Firewood), or when it is still smoldering. As soon as he stopped smoldering, the fire goes out and ash forms at the bottom of the firebox. According to the technical documentation, it should be removed every 10 days. The frequency may be greater. It depends on how quickly the top of the ash hill rises above the top of the air control door.

    Incineration of coal in the boiler "Stropuva"

    The most common method of igniting coal in such a heating boiler involves pouring fuel into a container, pouring a flammable mixture into the duct and throwing a lighted match or burning wick into it. However, this number does not pass with every type of coal. So, anthracite will not catch fire.

    In order for it to catch fire, it is better to follow these steps:

    1. Pour coal in such quantity as is enough to the level of the lower edge of the loading door. Consumption in this case depends on the volume of the camera.
    2. Place a layer of dry small wood on the fuel. Its thickness should be two thirds of the height of the loading door .
    3. Burn the wood and close the door.
    4. Wait for the fire to flare up. You can estimate the intensity of burning by looking through a special window made by manufacturers. Most proprietary heating boilers, which are analogues of Stropuva, have such a window. Of course, it is made of heat-resistant glass.
    5. When the wood has burned to burning coals, you need to open the door and fill the coal in as much quantity as necessary so that the top of the fuel will be equal to the top of the furnace door.
    6. Fully open the duct. This is done from the calculation to get the maximum thrust.
    7. Wait 30-60 minutes watching the fire. You can watch the fire from time to time.
    8. If the stove starts to heat up, close the duct to normal.
    9. It is necessary to heat the boiler in this mode until the coal is completely burnt.

    Coal or Carbon (from Latin Carbon) is a decay product of ancient carbonic forests, formed in the process, the duration of which is millions of years. Dying off and getting into the soil, the wood first turned into peat, which as the soil subsided crystallized and under the influence of temperature and moisture gradually hardened, turning first into brown and then coal. As the soil moves in the complete absence of oxygen, coal is pressed, occupying extended layers. The formation of one such coal seam takes from 30 to 40 million years. The high carbon content makes coal an excellent fuel, and therefore mankind develops coal deposits and extracts coal from coal mines. Coal is the oldest energy fuel used by man. It has not lost its relevance in modern conditions, even with the emergence of modern and cheaper energy.

    Coal.

    Coal  - This is one of the types of fossil fuels, organic matter, which is formed deep underground, as a result of the decomposition of plant matter without oxygen access for a long time. Coal, along with oil and gas, is the type of fuel that is widely used in all countries of the world and forms the basis of the development of the modern economy.

    Coal  was the first fossil to be used as a fuel. A specific type of coal, such as hard coal, brown coal or anthracite coal. Depending on the work in which coal is used, it must be of a certain quality. It is used as fuel, in ferrous metallurgy, in the manufacture of filters and electrodes, and other industries. The stock of anthracite coal is small compared to other types of coal - only 3 percent of all coal mined. Coal is mined in mines or quarries up to several kilometers deep. Anthracite coal is often transported by rail, or on barges. Anthracite coal deposit in Ukraine is located in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions. Mining is done in mines up to 1,500 m deep, coal from mines goes to coal processing enterprises (Mining and processing plants), where it is enriched and sorted by fractions (size of pieces) and then supplied to consumers.

    Coal for stoves and boilers.

    Coal for stoves, coal for boilers. Which coal grade is best for my stove or boiler?- often our customers ask this question. Our recommendations on the choice of brand of coal are as follows. First, melt the stove with simple firewood, then pour the WPC brand coal into the flames that flared up. If you use modern boilers for heating with solid fuels and in these installations forced forced air is used, then it is better to come up with anthracite, coal for solid fuel boilers. But again, for the initial ignition, we would recommend using simple firewood or KDP coal.

    The advantages of using coal for space heating:

    • High calorie at burning. In contrast to firewood, coal emits much more heat and burns much longer.
    • Does not require special storage tanks. Unlike gas and liquid fuels.
    • Coppers and furnaces for space heating on solid fuel are much cheaper to manufacture and install, do not require specialized maintenance.
    • To buy coal in Moscow and in the area in any package does not provide much difficulty.
    • The use of stoves on coal allows you to organize independent heating of the premises in any place.

    Coal  - solid fuel, minerals of plant origin. It is a dense breed of black, sometimes dark gray in color with a shiny matte surface. Contains 75-97% carbon, 1.5-5.7% hydrogen, 1.5 - 15% oxygen, 0.5-4% sulfur, up to 1.5% nitrogen, 2 - 45% volatile substances, the amount of moisture varies from 4 to 14%. The highest calorific value calculated for a moist ash-free mass of coal is not less than 238 MJ / kg. The use of coal is diverse. It is used as domestic, energetic fuel, raw material for the metallurgical and chemical industries, as well as for the extraction of rare and trace elements from it.

    Any owner sooner or later thinks about installing independent heating in his own house. Unfortunately, it is at this stage that various difficulties arise regarding the operation of heating equipment. A frequent question for homeowners is how to properly heat a solid fuel boiler with coal, since it is this fuel that is a common raw material for normal heating.

    Handling of heating equipment must be careful in compliance with safety regulations.

    Important! After buying a solid fuel heating equipment, be sure to familiarize yourself with the features and principle of its work.

    Each unit operating on coal fuel has its own individual operating characteristics. For example, some variants are equipped with automatic mechanisms, others simply work from the human factor.

    The principle of operation of TT equipment is quite simple. Its interior consists of two chambers: the top one is designed for the firebox, and the bottom one is for collecting slags and ashes, which are cleaned as the chamber is polluted. In order to properly melt the boiler, it is enough to purchase the necessary material. If you do not use chemical mixtures, then you can unsolder the boiler with the help of paper and dry brushwood, and after it is hot, you can throw up the coal.

    If you do not have the opportunity to regularly look into the furnace or not desire, you can use long-burning equipment. In such situations, the question of how to properly heat the coal boiler will disappear without a trace. However, such furnaces are several times more expensive than ordinary, intended for home use.

    On sale there are solid fuel boilers with automation, consider their advantages:

    • an automatic mechanism helps control the burning process;
    • regulates the flow of sufficient oxygen into the firebox;
    • optimized the normal temperature of the heating system;
    • controlled heating of water in the pipes for each room the same.

    How to heat a coal boiler: preparation and kindling

    Before starting operation, be sure to verify the health of the device. To do this, it is necessary to exclude all cracks, breaks in the metal, and also to check the internal mechanism. Once the audit is over, you can start the kindling.

    Normal coal equipment will need matches, paper and thin brushwood.

    Attention!  Before firing the boiler, clean it. Rake out ash from the ash and residual fuel from previous work. If you drown the device for the first time, we miss this stage.

    When everything is carefully prepared, proceed in the following steps:

    • lay dry paper on the grid. It is advisable to crumple it a bit to make it easier to burn;
    • laid on top of brushwood. It is better to place it evenly: you can decompose in the form of a well or make a hut. Avoid the careless laying of firewood, they will inflame too long;
    • we light a match and present it to paper from different sides. This is done to ensure that the sheets are evenly inflamed;
    • then close the door of the furnace, and blew - open;
    • watch the burning of the contents in the firebox. After the ash crust remains, lay out a wide layer of fine coal on the top up to 15 cm;
    • move the burned fine coal well, and then lay a layer of larger coal on top. Regularly monitor the burning and throw up fuel.

    Important!  If you open the door of the furnace to load fuel, be sure to close the pumper.

    How to heat the boiler long burning coal?

    Such installations are not used as often, but still are considered more alternative options in the application. It should be noted that the work of this equipment is somewhat different, so it will have to be drowned according to the attached instructions.

    Heating boilers of long burning can work on brown coal, however the question of what else can be used to heat such a unit has in response many options. The mechanism of operation, created in a similar way, will allow to lengthen the burning time of the device, regardless of how many fuel loads were made into it.

    First you need to lay firewood in the upper chamber of the boiler, then paper and thin chips are placed. All contents are set on fire - you need to wait until it flares up, for better oxygen supply to the furnace, you need to push the valve, it can be adjusted depending on the desire to receive heat transfer from the boiler.

    Attention!  It is dangerous to leave the chimney damper closed - this entails the movement of carbon monoxide into the living room.

    In case you melted the coal stove for the first time this season, do not worry if liquid appears on the pipes - this is condensate, which will disappear after a while. If this does not happen, your system may need repair. After the fuel in the boiler is ignited, you can turn on the control system. It is better to set a high temperature at the same time, and in the process of heating the heating it can be reduced to a suitable mark.
