  • We take the length and width as a basis. Let's assign them approximate values ​​- 5 and 3.25 meters, respectively.
  • We calculate the area - in a simple way mathematical rule. We multiply the indicators: 5 x 3.25 = 16.25 squares.
  • Let's say that the room irregular shape- there is a small niche at the entrance. We will calculate its dimensions separately. Let them be equal to 1.2 and 0.5 meters.
  • We calculate the area of ​​the niche: 1.2 x 0.5 = 0.6 square.
  • Now we simply add both values ​​and get the total area of ​​the room. 16.25 + 0.6 = 16.85 square meters.
  • Next, we take the dimensions of the laminate board as a basis. The average option is 1.3 m in length and 0.19 in width.
  • Based on this, the area of ​​one plank will be 0.247 m.
  • To count required quantity laminate boards, divide the area of ​​the room by the area of ​​the plank - with rounding, the result is 70 pieces.
  • And then we divide the total amount of planks by the number written on the packaging. In our case - 11.
  • 70 pcs / 11 = rounded 7 packs.

2. Based on size

  • The length of the walls is 5 meters, and the length of the floor board is 1.3. How many slats are needed? Almost 4 pieces.
  • Similarly in width - 3.25 meters / 0.19 = 17 units.

3. Using a calculator

How many skirting boards will you need?

In addition to covering the floor, it is important to choose and buy a plinth. To understand how much you will need, use our calculations.

  • Calculate the perimeter of the room. The formula is simple - add up the indicators of all sides.
  • Add about 10% of the resulting figure - the reserve will be needed for trimming.
  • For example calculations, let’s take the length of the plinth to be 2.5 meters, and leave the rest of the indicators the same. Let's add another doorway width of 0.8 meters.
  • So, the perimeter of the room, excluding the opening, is 15.7 meters. Add 10% with a margin and taking into account the niche - you get 17.27 m.
  • Now we divide the resulting figure by the length of one plinth: 17.27 m / 2.5 = 7 pieces, rounded up.

Why is stock needed?

Buying coverage exactly based on final calculations is not entirely correct. The fact is that boards can be damaged by builders; defective slats are often found. You still have to buy more. Where do the leftover laminate come from?
