Disconnect the native generator, which after the events held is on the bracket. To do this, pass it between the front axle beam and the bracket.

Since the connection is not original generator, should take into account the differences in the number of wires. On the old VAZ 2106 4 wires are provided, 2 of which are directed to the pin, and the rest are inserted separately. In the new one is inserted one wire.   1. On fastening the 55th generator from the "eight" is no different from the standard G-221, therefore, there should be no problems. First, an old 42 Ampere generator is removed. It is more convenient to work with a pit or a lift. Disconnect the plug from the output of the "zero" wire and from the output of the generator. Having shifted the insulation cover, we unscrew the nut of fastening the wires on the generator output with the key “10”, and disconnect the wires.
  2. We remove from a pulley of a generator a belt of a drive. We turn away two nuts a key "on 17" and we remove an adjusting level. We turn away a nut of the bottom fastener of the generator and take out a bolt with a sleeve. The generator with all this is kept on the bracket. Now it remains an old generator to remove from the car VAZ 2106, dropping it between the support of the front axle and the bracket. In its place is mounted a 55 amp generator. When replacing, you need to remove the terminal from the battery, and after installing the new generator, tighten the belt.
  3. The main difficulties arise when connecting a non-native generator to the electronic circuit of the VAZ-2106 car. As is clear, four wires are foreseen on the ancient generator: two are plugged in separately, and two more go to the stud. The new 55th wire is already stuck alone. The discrepancy is explained by the fact that in the generator from the VAZ 2108 the voltage relay is built into the housing. In this regard, the "excess" wire from the voltage relay (usually black) must be insulated from others as unnecessary. The remaining yellow wire is connected to the plug, and the wires are connected to the pin as on the previous generator.
  4. In principle, already with such a wiring scheme, the new generator will work. But there is an aspect: the discharge light will come on when the battery opposite is charged. So as not to mislead ourselves, you need to remove the wires from the voltage relay and isolate them. Then replace the charge relay RS-702 with a power relay RS-527 (or similar). Connect the RS-527 relay in the same way as the RS-702 was connected.
  5. In the end it remains to put on the terminal, check and tighten the belt, and it is better to change to a new one. Everything, the new generator is ready to work. It should be explained that at low engine speeds and at its factory the discharge light bulb will light up - this is a regular situation, the same thing happens at VAZ 2108. Last tip - do not rush to throw out the old wiring, generator and voltage relay RS-702. If you have problems with the new generator, you can always quickly install an old one.

All elements of the mechanism are located in the housing. Actually, the body is only two aluminum covers, which are tightened with bolts. The choice of aluminum elements is quite reasonable, since it is not magnetized, it has a very low weight, and most importantly - a high degree of heat transfer. With the help of the brush assembly, current is transmitted to the rotor winding. Its design consists of a pair of brushes made of graphite, springs, which allow them to press firmly against the rings on the rotor, as well as the brush holder. As noted earlier, in most modern cars, the brush holder and voltage regulator are assembled in one node.

Rectifier knot


A rectifier unit is needed in order to convert the alternating sinusoidal voltage produced by the generator into a constant voltage necessary to power the entire on-board network. In essence, this is a horseshoe-shaped plate in which there are a total of six of them, therefore, there are two semiconductors in the circuit of each phase. The horseshoe plate, on which the diodes are attached, also serves as a heat sink. With its help, heat is transferred to the body of the generator itself. In some generators, the excitation winding is connected through another circuit consisting of two semiconductors. It is also necessary to mention that the connection scheme of the generator VAZ-2107 on the VAZ-2106 is similar, there are no differences.

Additional rectifier

This rectifier is used to create an obstacle to the passage of current from the battery while the engine is not running. In the event that the connection of the windings is made according to the “star” scheme, two semiconductors should be mounted on the common terminal, this will increase the total power of the entire installation by a maximum of 15 percent. True, even those who neglect the problems with the installation of a more powerful generator, annoying weak light beam at the twentieth and a bad battery charge. Climbing the Internet to find at least something about installing and connecting it, I didn’t find anything worthwhile on the car, a bunch of comments like I stuck it and forgot, or had a lot of discussions of professionals electricians, but they spoke in such a language that it's like a chinese song, nothing is clear))
   In this regard, it was decided to write for ordinary people, an understandable article in order to help them themselves, without any problems and special skills of working with an electrician, but with their hands, to do this simple procedure for replacing the generator. So, let's start:
   There is a lot of alternatives for a regular generator, since a generator with proper skills, means and desire can be supplied at least some.

This is not an 80A generator, so if you prefer to use a lot of additional equipment, I would not recommend it to you for installation and send interest to newer models. Although, if you use it, especially a tape recorder plus fog, it is completely sufficient. The 55A generator doesn’t differ from the standard r-221 from the VAZ-2108 generator, so you shouldn’t have any problems here - you’ll remove the old 42nd and put a fresh one. Don't forget to reset the battery and tighten the belt after installation. Difficulties begin with switching-on, as can be seen from the figure, 4 wires go to the standard generator — 2 per pin and 2 are inserted separately, and at 55A the wire is already inserted one.

This is explained by the voltage relay already integrated into the generator, the so-called chocolate bar. Therefore, the dark wiring from the relay (B) needs to be isolated, we will no longer need them. Two wires from the stud A need to be screwed to the stud 1, and the preserved yellowish wiring B is connected to plug 2. In general, after these manipulations, the generator will already act, only the discharge lamp will light up when the battery is charging, and not at all when discharging, because:
